I've been using Codesys V3.5 SP16 to build a softPLC project, and I just purchased Control Win SL to get rid of the two-hour softPLC time limit of Control Win. I was not expecting the product to come with a download link for an updated version of Control Win (a .exe and package file). Do I need to install this to use the license? Will it just replace my current Control Win?

not needed, the license is version independent. You'll get a license ticket number on purchasing it by email and you can see this license number in your store account too.
