I have a raspberry pi trying to add encoder to it using that free encoder node. I simply dont understand where the encoder channel A/B suppoded to be mapped when i got to I/O mapping on encoder I get nothing to where to set the channels for the encoder or is there any blocks from a library or how is it that you use an encoder with Codesys it doesn't seem clear at all

I have a problem with the file transfer library. Namely, it does not work via the codesys server. (error 5; overtime, and visualization resets). They operate mostly in local chains. I tested different browsers and VPN from the router. It works everywhere, except through access from the codesys automation server. The client, having many machines under one account, prefers to keep it that way rather than use an individual VPN just to download a backup. Does anyone have an idea what the problem is? Sylwester M.

I am attempting to install CODESYS 3.5.22.20 and the installer gets stuck at "Install Package CODESYS Compatibility Package 3.5.17.20" every single time. I've tried reinstalling the software multiple times and the same issue persists. I've tried running the installer as an administrator and even turned off my virus protection and the same issue persists. I've attached a photo for reference. Has anyone run into this issue before or have any idea what I can do to complete the install?

I am looking for an example of how to run 2 applications on 1 device that would have global variables shared between the two apps. In this case what I am trying to do is to have the main program logic run as one application and then have the visualization run as a second application. The main reason I want to do this is for download speed. Right now it takes at least a minute to download our application to the PLC. A simple program downloads to the PLC in a very short time, but add visualization and the download time gets much longer. If I could download the program separately from the visualization I think that a simple program change would take very little time to download. I have tried create a GVL in the POUs view. This partly works in that both applications can see the GVL, but they each create their own instance of it and the variables are not shared between the two apps. There are ideas of using OPCUA but this raises problems with licensing and having to move any variable that needs to be shared into the Symbol Configuration. This adds a lot of management to keep this up to date. Any ideas would be appreciated thanks.

Hello together I'm currently investing in possibilities to have a central engineering software / system for Codesys based controllers. Something like a DCS / SCADA depending on where you see the functionality. We plan to use more or less vanilla codesys. The tool should support the following: - Connect to multiple PLC's in a project to see its variables and debug it. - Central Engineering capabilities (for example shared libraries in a project). - Download the new code / binaries to the plc. - Maybe have functionality to combine visualization elements and logic together. - See the live status variables on all the systems (crosscommunication). I see that codesys theoretically supports engineering of multiple PLC's, but I couldnt find to much functionality for a DCS type of operation, but that could be lack of knowledge. Any tips from you? Is Codesys good enough for this and maybe there are some manufacturers which build around it? Or are there good tools on the market with Codesys support (and the engineering is separate, but download to codesys possible). The use case is distributed energy installations like Heating pumps, Photovoltaics, etc. All these installations should have a PLC with codesys installed and run in one larger network, the PLC's are connected via VPN. I had an issue aswell, I was trying to use docker and got stuck on the specific line ' Downloading https://download.microsoft.com/download/9/5/A/95A9616B-7A37-4AF6-BC36-D6EA96C8DAAE/dotNetFx40_Full_x86_x64.exe' within install2.sh - which is actually from the https://raw.githubusercontent.com/Winetricks/winetricks/master/src/winetricks, winetricks_selfupdate(). Would love to know if anyone has a known solution. Only other thing I can think is to download winetricks +.net, update the winetricks to point to the downloaded .net? Granted Im not too savy with Docker so I have been struggling on figuring that part out- would love any suggestions!

I have gathered more information that might help: Device: ABB AC500 PM556-TP-ETH Firmware version: 2.4.2.14993 (dated 2014) Open ports confirmed: 502 (Modbus TCP), 1200 and 1201 (CODESYS runtime). SSH (22) and HTTP (80) are not reachable. No SD card in the PLC. I can connect via Automation Builder using the current IP and Online Login works, but I have no original source project available. Automation Builder requires a full PLC download to apply IP changes, which we want to avoid as it would overwrite the running program. Any guidance on how to change the IP without a full download would be greatly appreciated. I am also open to solutions using third party tools, DCP protocol, or scripts. Thank you

If you want to test your PLC project, please use a Codesys Control Softmotion (and your computer must have the Ethercat driver installed) or much easier, download your code into the C6 Smart. BR

I had this problem when running the application as a Simulation. When I wrote it to the Pi all worked as expected. If this isn't the case for you, we've seen some issues with sqlite on the Pi's - so reset Origin and re-download may help in that case. Good luck, Mark
