I have a WAGO PLC, to which I am establishing a connection. Here I use the autodiscover to register the connected modules. Now, I have tested the in-/outputs of the different modules, to verify they are consistent with how they are physically connected to the PLC in regards to how CODESYS has numbered them. Will CODESYS always number the modules closest to the PLC itself lowest, and the one furthest away, the highest? I am rather new to the program, so I both hope my question makes sense, as well as not being completely obvious. Thanks!

Hi all I found that in the last Ethercat master release (4.8.0.0) the Mailbox Gateway feature has been added. This would be useful for me to connect to a specific slave in my system, since its configuration software supports this type of gateway communication. Anyway I don't find usage information or examples. At the moment I tried to enable it in the ethercat master device settings and I configured with an IP address on the subnet of the ethercat adapter (i.e. ethercat nic configured with static ip 192.168.10.100 subnet 255.255.255.0, mailbox gateway configured to 192.168.10.30). I expected it would have responded to ping commands on the address but nothing happens. I am missing something?

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't seem to locate a thread that leads me answers. I am running two RTE x64 softPLCs, one on the host machine and a second via a VM. I have managed to finally get both to a position that they see each other, but they are in standalone mode instead of an active/passive state for failover (image attached). Every attempt to sync via the button fails. There is probably some step or option that I have missed in my bumbling through this learning process, but for the life of me I can't seem to figure it out. Anyone got any suggestions what I need to look at to get this into an active/passive redundancy state?

Hello, I am using Codesys on an industrial pc with a single monitor. I would also like to have a separate vision software running on the PC and would like to display it half screen. When I run the soft PLC the my visualization screen appears full screen, I would like to be able to set the size of the visualization screen so I can display other software on the monitor. Is it possible to set the width/height of the targetVisu? Anyone try something similar? I would like to avoid having to put it on a Virtual Machine. Thank you

I'm trying to export my whole project through the option ExportPLCopenXML. It seems working, but when I'm trying to import the xml I have the following error during the importation process: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. It seems a usual issue with this process that affects to the pointer to user classes inside a procedure. I receive this error for two general functions that have this pointer declarations in the VAR_INPUT section. It seems a bug into the export/import process of CodeSYS and I couldn't skip it so far. Anyone could help me? Thanks in advance.

Hi, Could you please send an print of your ethernet adapter info? Ip addr Subnet Mask Default Gateway Also, check if the gateway service is active in your windows. Win+R > services.msc > Look in the list CODESYS Control Win V3 x64 Gateway OR CODESYS Gateway V3 Hook up the M12 code D into the ETH port, supply the controller, it should apperars to you. Make sure when you try to connect with the controller, the target of your project has to match with the controller. Otherwise, click on the device in the devices tree > Communications Settings tab > Device > Options > And disable "Filter Network Scans by Target ID". Good luck.

As far as I remember, the Reconfigure functionality doesn't work for Modbus devices. But... Each Modbus device in your device tree has a name. You can set the property "Enable" of this device to FALSE to stop communicating with it. So if one of your Modbus Slave devices name is "MbSlave1" in the device tree, then in your code you can set the Enable to FALSE to let it stop communicating: MbSlave1.Enable := FALSE; Please let us know if this worked on your controller with your application and your CODESYS version. I am using the object SMC_GEOINFO to generate a trajectory and move a system accordingly using the SMC_INTERPOLATOR function block similar to the sample project CNC10_DynamicPath.project. According to the documentation, the movement type INITPOS does not require a start position in the SMC_GEOINFO object, which is confirmed in the documentation of the SMC_GEOINFO object. When using the movement type INITPOS however, the motion will still start from the starting point defined in the SMC_GEOINFO object (0,0,0 if not specified otherwise). Does someone know how to resolve this or is there an example project that makes use of the INITPOS movement type without specifying the starting point? Thanks in advance!

First make sure the programming laptop and HMI are both on the same subnet. For example if the IP address of the HMI is 192.168.1.125 with a subnet mask 255.255.255.0 set your laptop IP to 192.168.1.120 with a subnet mask of 255.255.255.0. Make sure the cables are fully connected (the ethernet port on my programming laptop will click once but the cable is not fully seated.) Make sure the HMI is powered on, try pinging the device from a command prompt, if you can't ping the HMI there is a network issue that has to be resolved first.

Try using an Ethernet/IP scanner instead of an adapter, I'm guessing the 2 devices you're trying to communicate with are adapters, you have to have a scanner somewhere and Codesys should be a scanner. I don't know why you're getting the error, you should be able to use your Ethernet port as an EthernetIP adapter (although I've never had a reason to try,) but it's probably not what you wanted to do, unless you're connecting to another PLC that is a scanner. Good luck configuring the devices you're trying to connect to, it will be a lot easier if you have an .EDS file instead of starting with a generic module, even with an .EDS it can be tricky getting the communication working.

This has real-time capabilities (running on separate core(s)). But to be able to use this, you have to install the CODESYS Ethernet driver for your network interface to be able to let the RTE access the network port also in realtime. The additional commands, Insert TON box & Insert TOFF box, are present in the Customize Menus or Toolbars when re-opening the Customize options but neither the menu or the toolbar gets updated with these. Would also like to add them in the Ladder Toolbox as there are only 9 items in there which does not include the one mentioned above. Due because of the version I am using ? Any assistance would definitely be appreciated. Thank you Mike

Hi, I am running Codesys Runtime by purchasing 'Codesys control for raspberry pi MC SL', I am trying to use the Variables from my GVL's. Few of the variables used as a Pushbutton form the Visualization. These 'BOOL' Variable getting unlatched automatically even though there is no write function in the Overall project. All of them are 'Read' functions, at the same time few other BOOL variable behaviors are seems to be fine. I have tried, clean all and download, serval time restarted the hardware. Happy to share any any information. Your input to resolve this issue would be highly appriciated. Version Details: codesyscontrol 4.8.0.0, armhf codesyscontrol based on SDK 3.5.19.0

This... is not very practical for me - as I have a bunch of different classes - it's just doesn't seems to be very practical to define a NULL for each of them... Something like this I use in parameter definitions. For example: VAR_INPUT refVFD_Drive : REFERENCE TO FB_VFD_Drive := GVL_DUMMY.Dummy_VFD; END_VAR I use this to prepare objects for code I don't control: Typycally visualizations - had many troubles with references set on the fly, right before opening a corresponding visualization... And yes, the instance in GVL_Dummy reports itself as "Fake", so it does not influence the actual application at all. Actually this way I could invalidate a reference, just to set it to a "Dummy" instance.

The way I usally tackle this is by syncing only words (then you are able to use the FB above). If you then want to write a Boolean simply type it like this. Value[1].0 := Bool1; Value[1].1 := Bool2; Value[1].2 := Bool3; Uints have the same number of bits than a INT/WORD so these ones will work as well (they are only represented diffrently). A Real will work but you will loose some infomration in the conversion. If you want to keep the information you can convert 2 words to a float with a function (for example with the IEEE-754 standard) . In this way the syncing to the server is very simple and in the Codesys Program you decide what part of the word you want to use.

Hello, I have a new project and I need to connect to a TCP socket using the URL instead of an explicit IP address, myendpoint@mydomain.com Which library is best suited for this? This is for a new enterprise project, the endpoint is a server in a datacenter running some real time application. We have big IP, it will automatically reassign the IP address to the backup server if a crash occurs so an explicit IP won't work for me. I've done this in RS logix, working now to migrate that code over to codesys. Thanks in advance!

Hi everyone, I’m working on a WAGO PFC100 with CODESYS. During development everything worked fine, but in the final stage I set several variables to PERSISTENT RETAIN. When I go online, most of these persistent variables cannot be monitored. Instead, I see: <Value of the expression cannot be retrieved> Interestingly, a few variables do show their values correctly, but the majority do not. The variables are not used as pointers or in any unusual way. The application compiles and runs without errors. Has anyone experienced this before? Is this a known issue with PFC100 or CODESYS? The option to update "Control for Linux SL" is not shown in the "deploy control SL tool", I can see and update the gateway but not the control (3.5.21 SP4). Has the way to update control SL changed? In the process of fault finding I removed the control SL entirely from my target, then I had to revert to version 3.5.21.0 SP 1 to re-install "Control SL 4.17.0.0". So I thought it was just a matter of using SP1 to update also to 4.18.0.0, but after installing the files for 4.18.0.0 in the SP1-version, the behavior was identical to SP4, ie no Control for Linux SL shown in the deploy tool.. See screenshots.

Monitor what your current cycle time is (in the Task Configuration when you are online). If this is sometimes close to 200ms, then change your code (e.g. limit the loops, or prevent copying a lot of data between objects). Or just set the Watchdog time (or sensitivity) higher if you don't care that it sometimes takes longer than 200ms. If you want to find out which objects in your application consume the most time, then buy a PDE (Professional Developer Edition) license. With this you get a license for the Profiler. This can help you a lot to find the root cause, because it will create a nice overview of all objects, their calls and the time (percentage) it takes to execute it.

EtherCAT is a point-to-point protocol so it doesn't need a unique MAC address. It would be very useful to set the MAC address to 020000000000, the standard address for this kind of application. (The important bit is the 02 at the start of the address, which means locally-administered MAC.) The stock Windows driver can do this for my i210 card. But the CODESYS CmpEt1000MPD driver cannot. The image shows the setting with the Windows driver. If I set all my customers' cards to this address, then I don't need to deal with this when deploying my application. A simple PowerShell script can be used to set the MAC address once when the NIC is installed and the driver is changed.

With that I could make an array of varying size, but would still have to define the array type in the function's declaration VAR_IN_OUT stArray: array [*..*] of <pre-defined data type> END_VAR I wanted a function that could take an array of any type (e.g., a structured VAR) as an input. That way I could call it in multiple POUs to handle different arrays structures.
