We are creating helper function blocks for our VFD(EtherNetIP). How should I set it up so that I can pass the device into and out of the Function Block so that ideally I can access the IO of the device by devicename.channelname. So something like for example we have a VFD with a start bit that is in the ControlWord channel and a SetVelocity that is a channel. And we want to create a Function Block called StartVFD. So I declare something like: FUNCTION_BLOCK StartVFD VAR_IN_OUT device: ioDrvEthernetIP.RemoteAdapter; END_VAR VAR_INPUT velocity : REAL; So in the code it would look something like device.SetVelocity := velocity; device.ControlWord.6 := True; We have a pretty basic eds file for our VFD and can update it if necessary. Hello, one of the projects I work on is about a racetrack collator with two independent belts on it - two different servo motors. Both motors share the same mechanical frame and there is a train on a belt that collects items from the input conveyor. The way the motion is performed is the following - there is a virutal master axis and both real axis are synchronised with different cam motion profiles. The problem is when an STO is triggered on any of the slave axis, the synchronization process starts from position 0 of the slaves. How can I force the slaves to retain their current position until the master passes their position? Then the slaves should catch up with the master according to the profile, the slaves should not start synchronization from 0 position. Best Regards Konstantin Kolev

Dear josepmariarams, this (internal) function has been removed with SoftMotion 4.17.0.0. We do not have public functions to compute the extrema of a polynomial. On which polynomials exactly did you call SMC_Polynomial_AbsMaxLocs? (Maybe if I understand better how you limit the jerk I can come up with an alternative.) There is no functionality to limit the jerk of individual axes in the CNC. With SMC_LimitDynamics, you can limit the velocity and acceleration of cartesian (X/Y/Z) and additional (P/Q/U/V/W/A/B/C) axes, but not the jerk. And with a quadratic ramp type you can limit the jerk on the path. Best regards, Georg

I have the following setup: Proxmox PC with a debian 13 VM running CODESYS Control Linux SL and Edge Gateway. Installation method was through the Deploy Control SL and went rather smoothly. In my Device Tab I find the gateway and when scanning my network I also find my runtime. I want to connect and get promted that I should add a user. After setting up the user I get an error saying, that the device is not responding my scanrequest. Deploy Control SL Operation saying everythings up and running. I can confirm that from the terminal on the VM with "systemctl status codesyscontrol" and "systemctl status codesysgateway". I am running out of ideas how to fix that issue. Can anybody help? Screenshots attached.

Hello, I'm doing some tests with TCP communication using Reader, Writer and TCP_Process components from NBS 4.0. I'm having a really hard time finding documentation and examples on these components. I found a very simple and incomplete example here: https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/nbs/home/Home/. The documentation is also insufficient: it only provides the names of the FBs, Methods and their parameters, but no descriptions about how to use them. Do you have any suggestions on where to find more support? More generally, why is the free online CoDeSys documentation so poor? What do you think? Thanks Domenico Canavero

Hi gseidel, before moving to HW implementation, I had created the same program in simulation mode with virtual drives and, as far as I remember, everything worked fine simulating process and the few useful inputs. So it does not seem to be a SoftMotion library problem, but rather a problem with dynamics or physical axis adjustments. What escapes me, however, is the fact that this function is supposed to perform a position shift virtually, in fact without interfering with the axis itself, thus independent of its adjustments. MC_SetPosition() is not a homing function, in fact it is clearly intended to be executed on the fly with the axis moving. Now I'll see if I can reduce the program, although I don't like it very much. In my life I have learned that problem searches should be done on the part, and not in a more or less similar way.

Hello I'm trying to use the DocScripting collection in Codesys. I've made it work on one PC(1) for the 3.5.16.4 version of the script collection. But when I try the same setup on another PC(2), I get an error message: Error loading Python DLL: D:\SCRIPTING\3.5.16.40\python27.dll (error code 14001) My setup on both PC's is thus: 1. Downloaded and installed Python 2. Copied the folder with the scripting collection to C: (because of admin rights) 3. Placed my .library file in the same folder as the scripting collection Only difference is that Python is v3.12.0 on PC1 and v3.12.1 on PC2. I thought maybe it was something with Python, but then I have tried using the scripting collection from 3.5.16.1, and that seems to work. Just not for scripting collection 3.5.16.4. I also can't seem to find any scripting collections on newer versions of Codesys? (e.g. 3.5.19.10) Thanks in advance!

Hello, In our workshop we have a Lenze i950 servo drive that has an EtherCAT bus and CiA402 compatibility. The WAGO is PFC200 750-8212 and as per documentation it has built-in license for SoftMotion Light functionality. It is not capable of supporting the full SoftMotion functionality like gearing and synchronizing. I added the EtherCAT esi files from Lenze and the EtherCAT master does see the drive, then I added a SoftMotion Light Axis object. The problem is that I can only energize the axis, I cannot execute any other commands. I set the positive and negative torque limits from the PDOs to 200% and when I try to move the axis by force it does not move back to its original position. I use the SML function blocks from the PLCOpen library and the error from the function blocks is that the op mode cannot be changed. Then I tried using a standard SoftMotion axis object and everything works fine, except the MC_Home function block. The axis moves back to its position when forced out of it. I follow this guide from Lenze - Lenze i950 CODESYS V3 What could cause this issue with the SoftMotion Light axis object? Best Regards Konstantin Kolev

I'm not sure it will work, but you could try it with the CmpCharDevice library. I pinpointed down 4 possible causes for this compiler error: Bare/empty statements (;) standing alone inside an IF/CASE branch — just removed two instances. The optimizer that tries to inline/replace expression statements may choke when a statement has no actual assignment to extract. A VAR_IN_OUT parameter used directly as a FOR loop's own control variable (FOR X := X TO Y DO) General deep-nesting complexity — every one of my decode routines has the same shape (IF busy THEN ... FOR loop containing nested CASE/IF chains ... END_IF), and the crash trace consistently shows for loop → sequence → ifst → sequence → ifst → sequence regardless of the code change. This raises the possibility that it's not one specific statement but a structural depth/complexity limit in SP22.x's compiler optimizer — which would mean no small code change fixes the issue. Only restructuring to reduce nesting depth, or downgrading the compiler will. Something entirely outside my library files — which cannot not ruled out since the exact stack trace was triggered by a Visualization object, in a totally different codebase. This means the same crash signature can come from unrelated causes. IMHO cause 3 seems the most probable one..

I have a WebVisu page which is re-used for multiple types of gas; it displays the alarm thresholds etc. for one gas at a time. I have an array of structures holding the set-points for each of the gasses. I'm trying to change the dialog title for the value input pop-up (VisuDialogs.Numpad). The Dialogtitle is set to Gas_Alarms.HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog, which is a string(50): When the gas type is changed (page first loaded, or prev/next buttons), METHOD Gas_Alarms.Update_Display_Variables is called, to update the strings used for the dialog titles so it shows GasName High Alarm Activation Level (EngineeringUnits), e.g. CO2 High Alarm Activation Level (PPM): HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog := Insert(' High Alarm Activation Level ()', EngineeringUnits, 30); HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog := Insert(HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog, GasName, 0); (That's not where the problem is, I'm just explaining why I'm using a variable dialogue title.) The variables used are definitely strings, but i'm always getting the error: "The type of the dialog title must be either STRING or WSTRING". I've tried moving HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog etc. to the GVL and also changing them to WSTRING, I even tried adding them to the structure array, but I always get the same error. Clearing the dialog title for that element removes the error - so I'm confident it's not a phantom error caused by something else. But I should be able to add these titles, can't just nuke them all to make it work. The MinVal and MaxVal for the Numpad are called from the array, e.g. GVL.Gas_Alarm_Configs[0].ScaledValueMIN, they are not getting an error. I am using array indexes 1 - 5 for the gasses, when I load the form or change gas, I copy the selected index to index 0 of the array, and values from Gas_Alarm_Configs[0].[ALL] are displayed on the page. When they hit save, I copy Gas_Alarm_Configs[0].[ALL] to Gas_Alarm_Configs[CurrentGasIndex].[ALL]. (ALL just means every element, I can't figure out how to display an asterix in this question... :) ) I've searched online for variable title dialog, but not found anything to help. Cartesian XY Chart visualization element (System_VisuElemXYChart / VisuElemXYChart). Summary: When a curve's Data X/Data Y is bound to a two-dimensional array, the element treats the last array dimension as the per-point record (the one selected by "Element to use") and iterates the first dimension as the sequence of curve points. The online documentation's worked example has the dimensions in the opposite order, so following it produces a non-functional curve and a nonsensical "Element to use" list. Steps to reproduce (fails — matches the documented layout): 1. Declare aData : ARRAY[0..1, 0..4095] OF LREAL; (2 data sets × 4096 points, i.e. first dimension = set, second = point). 2. In XY Chart Configuration, bind a curve's Data X (and Y) Variable to this array. 3. Observe the "Element to use" combobox. Hi, I wanted to use the Adafruit Hat for the Raspberry and get acquainted with Softmotion using servos for RC models. This did work great with Codesys 3.5.19 Patch 1, but with Patch 4 and 5 i get errors. I suspect changes in the SoftMotion library have broken dependencies in the legacy drivers, might that be true? Hello everyone, I am running into a highly frustrating issue in the FBD editor regarding a Function Block with generic constants (VAR_GENERIC CONSTANT). I created a FB using ST, with a generic var, useful for having a variable sized array, as follows: FUNCTION_BLOCK Coil VAR_GENERIC CONSTANT maxEvents: USINT := 5; END_VAR VAR events: ARRAY[0..maxEvents-1] OF IEvent; END_VAR These FBs have also several methods. I declare them as follows in code: VAR coil1: CDL.Coil<(maxEvents:=1)>; END_VAR and when using them in ST, I have no problems. However, when trying to use them in FDB, I do not know how to do that, as some strange misalignment happens. Here's what happens: When I add the block to my FBD canvas and assign coil1 as the instance name, the compiler throws this error: 'coil1' is not an instance of 'CDL.Coil<(maxEvents:=1)>'. Same occurs when I try to instantiate blocks such as 'coil1.turnOn' or similar. Here is what I have already tried, none of which worked: - Deleting the <(maxEvents:=1)> parameter from the text inside the FBD box. - Deleting the block entirely, dropping an "Empty Box", and typing coil1 above it to let the IDE auto-complete and format the block. - Running a full "Clean All" and rebuilding the code. I am aware that I could bypass the graphical editor by calling it in Structured Text. However, I need to keep this logic compatible to FBD. Has anyone encountered this specific FBD parsing bug with generic variables? Thanks in advance for any insights. Best regards, Marco

I tested your project but with same results i am still not seeing analog values. I also included the library list, the mainprogram.

Same for me. I have problems with UAExpert too. Can't see the Current Value of Enum and can't control. Did some Tests with Python opcua library. Not working with the communication manager so far.
