Dear Edwin, we are also facing similar problem of communication failure, FB3 error in servo drives. we tried all the suggestion by Kim but still we couldn't solve the issue. we uses Codesys 3.5 sp18 patch2, servotronix servo drives CDHD and crevis GN-9483. Any suggestion / input to solve the issue please. is anyway in codesys to reset the FB3 error? -Rajan

Hello codesys forum, My company is looking at developing a solution with Codesys ARM SL. The requirements will not tax the capabilities of Codesys. I would like to buy an AMR 7 or 8 Dev Board for experimenting. I am looking for a recommendation as I have minimal experience with Linux. Any input from the forum would be most appreciated as the hardware requirements as provided by Codesys for ARM SL seem pretty minimal (basically a arm7 or 8 with Debian is all). Our needs are small in scale- something like 8 digital inputs, 6 digital outputs, 2 analog inputs and 1 analog output. A small gui will be published via web visualization for external display (no local display). Communications with ModbusTCP and uart/RS485. It may be necessary to access i2c and make c or python calls to some existing code that is pretty small. Something like the EMCraft STM32MP1 SOM Starter Kit or Octavo Systems OSD32MP1-RED development board? Ideally something that has a path to a SoM for production. Kontron appears to have some interesting options too. Just having a hard time deciding where to start. Thanks in advance... LC

It automatically directed me to CODESYS, where I was able to create the "Create Boot Project" but first I also clicked login again but inside CODESYS keeping the automation builder login online. Additional Information: The "Create Boot Project" function in CODESYS is used to create a project that will automatically start when the controller is booted up. To create a boot project, you must first create a new project in CODESYS. Once you have created a new project, you can then use the "Create Boot Project" function to create a boot application. The "Create Boot Project" function will create a new application that is based on the current project. The new application will be saved in the same location as the current project. You can then download the new application to the controller.

Hi, We are currently using a Raspberry Pi 4 CM4 module in a EdgeBox RPI 200 - Industrial Edge Controller running the latest CODESYS Runtime Package 4.11.0.0. On the PC (actually an Intel Macbook Pro running Windows 10 in Parallels) we run CODESYS V3.5.19.50. Yesterday end of day when I was about to logoff and head home, I wanted to send the latest build to the Raspberry I clicked the Login button to compile a new version and then sync the application and all the files, it get's stuck on the last file to sync (see attached screenshot). This takes eternally, although sometimes, when I use my SFTP client (Cyberduck) and go into the raspberry and refresh the directory /var/opt/codesys/PlcLogic/visu/, or when I open the actual file visuelemsdatetime.tl_datetime.txt, it gets un-stuck (forcing a refresh, which might fix the syncing issue) and CODESYS continues and I can click the Start button to start the application. But this SFTP force refresh trick does not always help either... What could be the issue here? network connectivity? Can someone please help me out?

Hello everyone, I hope you can help me with my problem. I am new to programming and am currently working with a WAGO controller in our lab, which controls a heat pump. My goal is to send the electrical power of the heat pump (Pel_WP) via a UDP connection to a specific IP address. I am using Codesys version 2.3 and following the guide I found here: https://forge.codesys.com/forum/de/396/genmed-Konfiguration%20der%20UDP%20Kommunikation%20Cosesys%20S7.pdf. I have adapted the guide to suit my needs. The data sending works since I can force the reception value Pel_WP and the data is sent accordingly. However, I am having trouble with the receiving part. The reception value is not being correctly received, and the diSocket variable shows -1. The connection between the heat pump and the WAGO controller seems to be set up correctly, as the heat pump is listed under the communication parameters with the correct IP address. I have also attached images to provide a better view of the setup. I would greatly appreciate any support or suggestions for a solution. Thank you in advance!

I am running a runtime environment on an ARM A35 dual-core processor (1.5GHz) and have encountered some issues. The CPU load (both CPU0 and CPU1) occasionally spikes above 50% before returning to normal, and this happens around 2-3 times per minute. At the same time, I’ve noticed that the Max Cycle Time in the Codesys monitoring screen shows much worse performance compared to the A53 (1.2GHz), with nearly double the cycle time. The optimizations I have made so far are as follows: Set the CPU to performance mode. Isolated CPUs: CPU0 is dedicated to running Linux services and the runtime itself, while CPU1 runs the EtherCAT task and the MainTask. Despite CPU1 only running these two tasks, the utilization still increases above 50%, which I find unreasonable. Additionally, I performed tests using cyclictest both without and with the runtime running. The performance is shown in the following image: From the results, I believe the CPU performance should be fine, but I am unsure why the monitoring results are not as expected. The testing outcomes should ideally be as close as possible to the cyclictest results. Does anyone have related solutions to this issue?

Good day, I’m writing this message out of frustration regarding the current way project files are saved as encrypted XML and single-file format in CODESYS. I find this approach to be quite tedious for several reasons: Limited Access to Structured Text: Not being able to access Structured Text (ST) externally makes it impossible to work with alternative editors like VSCode. Tools like VSCode are incredibly responsive and feature advanced systems such as GitHub Copilot, which would be a real game-changer when working with ST IEC. While CODESYS works well for small code snippets or debugging, when the codebase grows, switching to VSCode to boost productivity becomes essential, and copy-pasting between environments is a cumbersome workaround. Poor Integration with Git: This file format also makes it very difficult to integrate effectively with Git. I have tested the internal demo, but for advanced merges, it is unusable. Without properly formatted plain text, it’s impossible to leverage the vast ecosystem of external tools around Git that allow smooth merges in heterogeneous teams. File Corruption on Network Drives: I often work from multiple locations with shared network drives. When the development environment saves a file and something goes wrong midway (which can occasionally happen when using VPNs and network drives), the entire project becomes irrecoverable. There’s no way to cancel the save process, and the development environment freezes. This has happened to me at least four times over the past two weeks, and one of those incidents cost me an entire day of work. All of this is particularly disappointing because I truly believe that the libraries, runtime, and overall work done by CODESYS are exceptional. I find it fantastic that there is a platform allowing development of PLCs and control systems using OOP, which is a huge advantage in modern control engineering. I'm having trouble with the initial loading of recipes. I can create them and load one or the other, but when the program restarts the recipes are not listed. I'm calling: RecipeManCommands.ReloadRecipes and then RecipeManCommands.GetRecipeCount which returns 0 recipes. None of the methods returns error and if i call them again after RecipeManCommands.CreateRecipe RecipeManCommands.ReadAndSaveRecipe getRecipeCount returns the number of recipes created. It depends on your application which CPU speed and RAM size you need. If you think the Control Standard S license is sufficient then my guess is that your selected PC has no problem running your application. There are no more "hardware" based single licenses available anymore, only application based licenses. So this "Raspberry Pi" restriction for home automation is not applicable anymore. Good morning everyone. In my setup I am trying to use a couple of EL7041-0052 (the EL7041 variant without terminals for an encoder) to run stepper motors without feedback. When using the softmotion drivers for the EL7041 (Rev22 and Rev24, even selecting external feedback type doesn't work) the device log shows warnings for the corresponding hardware: "SDO write error 0x1 -> 0x8012:0x08 eError 0x1 AbortCode 0x6090011". 0x8012:0x08 is the register for the Feedback Type. My best guess was setting the the register value in the start parameters to zero, but the result is the same. What else can I try to get the hardware to work? I have screenshots attatched showing the running fieldbus and the log messages. EDIT: One clarification: the "device log" that shows the error is the PLC, not the ethercat terminal. The log of the terminal itself shows neither errors nor warnings. BR Robert

Thank you @TimvH It is clear that licences are application based and now thanks to your reply I could understand the meaning of RT systems. The RT called "CODESYS Control for Linux ARM SL" can be deployed on a generic debian based ARM system. The RT called "CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi MC SL" is more specific for Rasberry HW. Did I understand correctly? Regarding the RT called "CODESYS Virtual Control SL" despite its description it is not clear to me when to use it. It seems that a project created using such RT system can be deployed on any HW. It sound good obviously, as it means that it is possible to realize a completely abstract project from its hardware. The only limit could be represented by the need of using a specific HW or OS feature, in that case a more specific RT system should be chosen. Is my last consideration correct? Regards Rossano

I have default arguments specified for function block methods but when calling a method, an error is produced requiring me to supply all the arguments despite there being default values. According to the online documentation, under section "Calling a Method" and subsection "argument passing" of the following link: https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_obj_method.html "Passing an argument for an input ... can be omitted ... for which a default or initial value was specified in the declaration..." I have found this to be the case for all Codesys IDEs I've used, 3.5.11, 3.5.16, 3.5.17, 3.5.19. Am I missing something?
