Post by mdetrana on VPLCs Tab 'Grey-ed Out', Cannot Create VPLC CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
When evaluating Codesys functionality, I found that the VPLC tab under Deploy Control SL > Operation > VPLCs is 'grey-ed out', see attached image. I'm trying to evaluate how my infrastructure will interact with Codesys on a Raspberry Pi 4, so I'm trying to demo running it before purchasing licenses. I was going through the Codesys tutorial here, and it never shows the tab as grey, so I do not know how to proceed. Let me know if I can get any additional information that can help. This could be related to an Info message that's sent when connecting- [INFORMATION] Connected successfully! [INFORMATION] Successfully connected to target (<ip_address>) [INFORMATION] No supported container engine found on device. You have to install a supported container engine to use Virtual Control. Please contact the Administrator of the device. [INFORMATION] Finished reading device information</ip_address> I'm not exactly sure what I would need to do to install a 'supported container engine'.

Post by ragarcia on Error while using UpdateConfiguredIPSettings to change IP address CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello everyone, I am trying to change dynamically by code the IP address of a Weidmuller controller. So I am basically using IoDrvEthernet library to use UpdateConfiguredIPSettings function but I am getting constantly the 'INVALID_STATE' error. Even though I am following a procedure it should work: * First I added on the config file of codesys the following: [SysSocket] Adapter.0.Name="eth0" Adapter.0.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 Adapter.1.Name="eth1" Adapter.1.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 * Secondly I am first disabling the ethernet interface by using Ethernet_0.Enable = FALSE and then executing DED.Reconfigure. After that, I run the Ethernet_1.updateConfiguredIPSettings Code: Ethernet_1.Enable:= EnableDisable; Reconfigure(xExecute:= TRUE, itfNode:= Ethernet_1, xError=> ErrorReconfigure, eError=> ErrorCodeReconfigure); IF Reconfigure.xDone THEN ErrorCodeIP:= Ethernet_1.UpdateConfiguredIPSettings(IPAddress:= newIP, SubnetMask:= newMask, Gateway:= newGW); END_IF IF Reconfigure.xDone OR Reconfigure.xError THEN Reconfigure(xExecute:= FALSE); END_IF Ethernet_1.Enable:= TRUE; Reconfigure(xExecute:= TRUE, itfNode:= Ethernet_1); IF Reconfigure.xDone OR Reconfigure.xError THEN Reconfigure(xExecute:= FALSE); END_IF Can someone help me? Thank you. All I am trying is to find a way to change dynamically with code, the IP addresses of my controller (2 ethernet ports).

Post by mavitia on Application based license problem - Modbus TCP CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I am running ubuntu on a raspberry pi, and installed an application based license Control Basic M on it, it runs a demo program fine, does not timeout etc. however, when I add a modbus TCP device, I start getting errors:
Online change denied. Application Application is in exception state!

Download failed: Application=Application

Application app=Application has invalid license metrics!
the modbus tcp slave runs, and the counter ticks up, however, when I call the variables on the %IX0.0 in my program, and try to upload the changes, I am getting the error messages which stop the program as far as I understand, the application based, M includes 2 fieldbus instances, but on the other side is fairly new, anything obvious I am missing out here?

Post by spiessli on Softmotion axis to CANopen Maxon IDX drive CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Thanks for the advise, indeed, this was somewhat, what my intention was. I tried around again with EDSes and DCFs, anyway. It appears that the DCFs end up in a subfolder in the attach device dialog. Astonishingly, when attaching the DCF version I get a device in the device tree, where I can add a SoftMotion axis, whereas when I attach the device not in the subfolder, then I cannot. Further astonishingly, when looking in the CANopen parameters in supported profiles, "402" is listed in the case of the DCF variant, whereas in the EDS variant "0" is shown. Comparing EDS and DCF files I cannot guess, where the difference is coming from. I cannot tell either why I have always attached the EDS variant and apparantly never the DCF variant. As I am not in the lab right now, I cannot test if the connection actually is working. Thanks again, spiessli

Post by kevin123 on auto-answer dialog using system.prompt_answers CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I am trying to do "update device" in a project which was saved in a different version of CODESYS using ScriptEngine, a dialog with 'Yes' and 'No' button popped up showing that "Do you want to upgrade the storage format for this project? -if you click 'Yes', storage format will be upgraded... -if you click 'No', storage format will not be changed..." I have to click the 'Yes' button automatically by scriptEngine. I know from others topics here in forum, that some dialogs can be auto-answered using system.prompt_answers. And I also get the messagekey of this dialog: Key: "<< No Key>>" Message: "Do you want to upgrade the storage format for this project? - If you click 'Yes',... i have tried using the system.prompt_answers command below, but the dialog was not auto-answered. system.prompt_answers["<<No Key>>"] = PromptResult.Yes Does someone know how to auto-answer the dialog using system.prompt_answers command with messagekey"<< No key>>"? or any suggestions to solve this issue, Thanks!

Post by francescoc on Custom log CmpLog CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, I am trying to create a log in my application. Since I cannot find any documentation regarding modifying the codesys configuration file to be able to log in ms, i tried to create a new log via CmpLog.LogCreate. Below is the part of the code where I create the logger and write a test string. In the log tab of codesys I actually see the new log that was created, but it is empty, and in the folder I cannot find any files. I can't find any detailed documentation. Can you guys give me support? Are there any examples? Thank you IF NOT FirstCycle THEN LogName:= 'LOGS/TestLog'; LogOptions.bEnable:= 1; LogOptions.iMaxEntries:= 5000; LogOptions.iMaxFiles:= 100; LogOptions.iMaxFileSize:= 5000; LogOptions.szName:= LogName; LogOptions.uiType:= CmpLog.LogTypes.LT_TIMESTAMP_RTC_HIGHRES; LogOptions.uiFilter:= CmpLog.LogClass.LOG_ALL; LogHandle:= CmpLog.LogCreate(pOptions := ADR(LogOptions), pResult:= ADR(Result)); LogHandle:= CmpLog.LogOpen(pszName:= LogName, pResult:= Result); Component_Manager.CMAddComponent2('TestLogNEW', 16#00000001, ADR(udiCmpIdNEW), 0); CmpLog.LogAdd2(LogHandle, udiCmpIdNEW, CmpLog.LogClass.LOG_INFO, 1, 1, 'Logger started...'); END_IF IF TestWrite THEN TestWrite:= FALSE; CmpLog.LogAdd2(LogHandle, udiCmpIdNEW, CmpLog.LogClass.LOG_INFO, 1, 1, 'Write test'); END_IF

Post by suyash on Device User Logon CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello. Basic Info : I am using Codesys Control For Raspberry Pi SL. Version 4.4.0.0 Engineering version : CODESYS V3.5 SP19 Patch 1 (Its a old application) I am facing a difficulty with the "Device User Logon". The window (screenshot attached) pops up during login. When i enter the credentials (which i feel are correct), the windows pops up again no matter how many times I enter. To ascertain, I tried entering the incorrect credentials during which its clearly specifying that i have entered them incorrectly (which is why I am quite certain about the credentials being correct). I even tried going into Communication Settings > Device(drop down) > Change Runtime secuirity policy . However it again asks me for credentials which keep popping up again and again. I am thinking of upgrading the runtime to the latest version of 4.20 Will it cause any issues with the paid license? Please suggest me a solution. BR, Suyash

Post by struccc on Backtick identifiers CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Important: ` - Backtick - ASCII 96 ' - Apostrophe or Single Quote - ASCII 39 In the online help for some reason it renders ’ ... The only issue I don't get, why identifiers are still case-insensitive, even within `backtricks`? `mPa` and `MPa` for milli-, mega Pascal are the same identifiers, unfortunately... Post by forest on SM Drive license error CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, when it comes about license, I used INVTmatic Studio, which uses Codesys, for programming INVT plc. I bought Codesys Modbus license, it was not expensive, and then realised that INVT didn't have License Manager option (greyed out in program) which is needed for using of Codesys License. I contacted support from INVT, but developers told me that option is still not available. So depending on environment for programming Codesys, you can or not use Modbus license. Good thing about this version of Modbus TCP it works both direction. I could send commands and receive feedbacks from drive. But communication stops after 30 mins. So I used simple version of ethernet modbus which is somewhere in INVT or Condesys library (I can check tomorrow) which works only one way. I could send cmd to drive, and control it, but didn't have any feedback, like some readings back in PLC. which is bad, but at least I could start it and it didn't fail after 30 mins.

Post by wbj0t on System libs and I/O Drivers CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi everyone. My question about: where I can learn (read or watch) an info about codesys workflow through the system IO libs? I want to know how to implement I/O drivers by my self. In the system libs I see many interfaces, methods etc... But there is no explanation about them, just names of methods and fields of the FBs. I know about this page: https://forge.codesys.com/drv/io-drivers/doc/Generic/ There is so BIG the device description file and not so clear explaining of the attributes and elements, also some elements or attributes missed at it all. Yes, there are code examples on this page, but, so shortly and, for example, code about Modbus drivers is absent. And even if I try to add the IoDrvFB with lib, I get and error, something like: "failed to load IoDrvFB driver". And what about the book of codesys that written by Gary Pratt? Is there information about system libs and drivers in this book more clearly? Thank you :)

Post by paro on Modbus Client Request Not Processed CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, Problem in your code is that you are not calling the ClientFb cyclic. Please look at the Example from CODESYS: https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/modbus/home/Home/ Your code works if the client fb is called cyclic! IF NOT initDone THEN initDone := TRUE; // configure clientTcp clientTcp(aIPaddr:=Ethernet.IPAddress, uiPort:=502); // configure clientSerial clientSerial(iPort:=SysCom.SYS_COMPORT2, dwBaudRate:=SysCom.SYS_BR_115200, byDataBits:=8, eParity:=SysCom.SYS_EVENPARITY, eStopBits:=SysCom.SYS_ONESTOPBIT, eRtuAscii:=ModbusFB.RtuAscii.RTU); // configure clientRequestReadCoils_1 clientRequestReadCoils_1(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=42, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); // configure clientRequestWriteSingleRegister clientRequestWriteSingleRegister(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=43, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); // configure clientRequestReadCoils_2 clientRequestReadCoils_2(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=44, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); // configure clientRequestReadInputRegisters clientRequestReadInputRegisters(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=44, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); END_IF // call the client FB's clientTcp(); clientSerial(); // call client request FB's clientRequestReadCoils_1(rClient:=clientTcp, xExecute:=TRUE, uiStartItem:=2, uiQuantity:=3, pData:=ADR(aDataCoils_1[0])); // for more details see Example_TCP, especially ClientRequest control (xExecute, xDone, xError). Hi, yes now its working, to get "QUEUE.bFull" to work, I've had to set the "QUEUE.nNumReservedEntries" to 3. (I tried different values here, only effect for larger values i can see is the the queue capacity gets smaller.) I've noticed the movement is slowing down when it reaches the end of the "fill Up", must be because of the "checkVelocity" can only see the current "QUEUE". Any way of solving this ? Post by pppn on Issue with Forward Open Connections in Ethernet/IP Protocol Stack in Codesys CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I am facing an issue with my Ethernet-based project in Codesys. My product was functioning well until I modified the protocol stack and uploaded it to my device. Here are the details of my problem: Project Setup: I am working on an Ethernet-based project to test my product. The project was running without issues before modifying the protocol stack. Issue: After modifying the protocol stack and uploading it to my device, I am encountering an error in Codesys related to the forward open connections. Error status: connection failure, extended: connection in use or duplicate forward open. According to the Ethernet/IP protocol in codesys, there are three forward open connections that need to be established. The first two connections are opening without any issues. The third connection, which is an input-only connection, is causing problems. The error message indicates that the connection is already open. Debugging Attempts: I have extensively debugged the protocol stack and found no issues. The product works well when tested with EIP tools but not with Codesys. Exclusive owner connections are working correctly, and only the input-only connection is problematic. Wireshark Traces: Wireshark traces show that the third connection attempts to open but reports that it is already open. Steps to Reproduce: Modify the protocol stack and upload it to the device. Attempt to establish three forward open connections in Codesys. Observe the error on the third connection (input-only). Request: I would appreciate any suggestions or guidance on how to resolve this issue. If there are specific settings or configurations in Codesys that I need to check, please let me know. Additionally, if there are known issues or workarounds related to this problem, I would be grateful for the information. Attachments: Wireshark traces showing the connection attempts and errors Screenshots of the error messages in Codesys codesys version: CODESYS V3.5 SP16 Patch 3 + 64 bit

Post by jst69 on Python script: Launch Codesys, Execute Script, Exit Codesys CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Dear all: Question about scripting: I am creating a .NET program that is supposed to Open codesys, open template project, export a bunch of pou, then exit codesys. Launch works, Open project works, Export works, But how do i tell codesys to close itself? I can tell windows to terminate codesys, but i would prefer to do it properly. from __future__ import print_function import sys import System proj = projects.primary # We're interested in POU nodes: POUGuid = Guid("6f9dac99-8de1-4efc-8465-68ac443b7d08") # We collect all POU nodes in that list. pous = [] # From the parent node on, we recursively add POU nodes: def CollectPous(node): if node.type == POUGuid: pous.append(node) else: for child in node.get_children(): CollectPous(child) # Now we collect all the leaf nodes. for node in proj.get_children(): CollectPous(node) # We print everything just to know what's going on. for i in pous: print("found: ", i.type, i.guid, i.get_name()) # And now we export the files. for candidate in pous: # We create a list of objects to export: # The object itsself objects = [candidate] # And sub-objects (POUs can have actions, properties, ...) objects.extend(candidate.get_children()) # And the parent folders. parent = candidate.parent while ((not parent.is_root) and parent.is_folder): objects.append(parent) parent = parent.parent # Create an unique file name: if len(sys.argv) == 1: filename = "parent\\%s.export" % (candidate.get_name()) else: filename = "%s\\%s.export" % (sys.argv[1],candidate.get_name()) # print some user information print("exporting ", len(objects), " objects to: ", filename) # and actually export the project. proj.export_xml(objects, filename) proj.close() print ("script finished.") Post by alexgooi on Codesys KNX implementation CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Dear forum, We are currently doing some research on the Codesys KNX implementation (https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-knx-sl.html). We almost have it working but we are missing the last part. The setup: We have a Codesys virtual control container running on docker (4.17.0.0), the I/O is running over an Ethernet IP coupler (Weidmüller), and this is running fine. As far as I’m concerned this tells me that the ethernet device is working properly (the container has access to the outside world, including multicast). Underneath this ethernet adapter the KNX module is added (see picture). In the KNX device (Codesys) 2 input variables are added (see picture), and these are exported to ETS (ETS 5). In ETS A Codesys KNX device has been imported and the Codesys export was imported, afterwards the group addresses are attached to the variables (see picture). Afterwards this configuration is downloaded to the Codesys controller (Container) via ETS. ETS asks for the pressing of the programming button, when the virtual programming button is pressed the download starts and finishes without any errors. This tells me that ETS is communicating with the Codesys controller, and that the download process is ok (so far so good). Now the part where we are struggling with, somehow we need to convert the KNX TP to KNX IP. For this we have the following interface: Zenio KIPI SC (https://www.zennio.com/product/kipi-sc/) this is a KNX TP to IP interface. We have the following setup for this device (see picture) (an IP in the same subnet is used). We tried multiple combinations of IP addresses but the TP devices are simply not communicating to the Codesys container. Does anyone has any advice on what to try next. To make the question more explicit how can we link the TP bus to the Codesys device? Kind Regards Alex

Hello, I have been using CODESYS for a while and after updating to version 3.5.18.50 the code randomly stops with this fault. Why is that ? I have tried to locate the fault in the Call Stack but I dont know what to do now... I have updated the projects properly for the version I am using. This fault started happening after like 14 days of using the new version of CODESYS.

Post by macros8 on Alarm Management - latched variable represented as Text list CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi all, in Alarm management you can latch some variable to show value within the alarm msg. It´s very useful sometime. But I´m wondering whether there is any possibility to represent that value as Text list. It´s quite common in other HMI tools and this is very useful in case of using some ErrorID for detail specification of error. Unfortunately I could not find any way how to do it but I believe that exists :) Thanks a lot. M.

Post by transmin01 on PCAN serial "No CAN driver found" CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, I am using a PCAN mini CAN board which has the Windows drivers installed on the target PLC. PCAN board can be seen in device manager. However, I am getting "No CAN driver found" error. I have read the post https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/CODESYS-V2/thread/44aae19318/ and have uncommented the CmpPCANBasicDrv driver in the CodesysControl.cfg file in development PC and have copied it to the target PC. Current CodesysControl.cfg file attached. Is there anything else I am missing? Regards
