i know, this is the reason for us either. PLC-Handler is to big, and only available with additional Contracts/Costs. OPC-UA is to slow for us. As described, there is a solution available, but im not allowed to post them here. i would prefer you send a message at codesys store by "have a question" or similar called. Not sure. Or, if an Codesys-Official Member allows to share that informations, i can give you the right hints.

Hey also ich soll mit CodeSys 3.5 ein Modell erstellen, welches ich dann später mit einem bestehenden Modell in Simit anbinden kann. In CodeSys steht das Modell mehr oder weniger und ich wollte jetzt mal ausprobieren, ob ich die beiden Modelle miteinander koppeln kann. Übern einen OPC UA Server hat das auch alles geklappt. Allerdings hängt es jetzt an den globalen Variablen. Wie gehe ich da am besten vor? Soll ich die Variablen in CodeSys anpassen oder gibt es da einen Trick? Vielen Dank schon einmal im Voraus!

Hello everyone, I’m integrating Codesys with Kepserver using the Kepware driver for Codesys, and I need to configure a user account with the minimum necessary privileges to read and write to the tags on the PLC, without using the internal OPC UA server of Codesys. However, despite not assigning the Modify permission, Kepware still allows writing to the tags. What are the minimum required permissions to ensure that writing is only allowed when necessary, and how can I prevent other permissions from being overridden? Any guidance would be greatly appreciated.

Il PC con il progetto Codesys(client) è collegato via rete TCP ad un PLC Siemens1200(server). Sul PC con Codesys ho installato UAexpert(client) e riesco a vedere le variabili del PLC1200. Riesci ad aiutarmi a capire come mai non è visibile l'oggetto "Data Source Manager"? Molte grazie

Guten Tag, ich hab seit längerem das Problem, dass mein Raspberry Pi4 durch die PLC in Störung geht. Auf dem Raspi läuft eine einfache Software mit OPC UA server, InfluxDB und ein NodeRed-Server. (Und MQTT-Server) Daten werden von der PLC über OPC-UA an NodeRed übergeben. Es kann sein, dass der Raspi 2 Wochen läuft, dann geht die PLC in Stopp. Manchmal nur 2-3 Tage. Ein Neustart über Spannung aus & wieder an schafft Abhilfe. NodeRed wirft extrem viele Fehlermeldungen in kurzer Zeit. Wenn die PLC in Störung ist, kann man sich nicht mal mehr über SSH beim Raspi einloggen. Der Raspi ist aktiv gekühlt und im Normalbetrieb nicht überlastet. Ich hab einige logfiles mit vielen Einträgen die mir nichts sagen, eventuell hat hier jemand eine Idee wie ich dem Problem Herr werden kann :) Der letzte Datenbankeintrag von der SPS war am 11.11.2023 um 5:55:50 Uhr. D.h. danach muss die SPS gestorben sein. Siehe Raspi-Log im Anhang. Das LogFile von Codesys startet leider erst um 11 Uhr, weshalb weiß ich leider nicht. Vielen Dank schonmal

We made a ladder code to control a process, and it works well, but we want some variables to remain stored even when the controller is turned off. We tried to use retain variables, but at the time of loading the program, when we went offline from the controller, the program was deleted, it did not remain in the controller, and in the same way if we turned off the controller. In addition to this, when we tried to program it again, the program would not stay loaded and began to present errors with the opc-ua communication. What could be causing this problem? Does anybody know how to get a specific text from a text list within a program. Obviously it works in a visualization, but because I will have an HMI that has it's own system and I will have to send variables to this HMI via an OPC UA connection, I need to be able to get a text into a string. I tried using the VisuElems like this, but it only returns an empty "" and nothing else. I need to know how i can change the directory of my instances 'inst_3' and so on. So they can be under objects directly. I tried to modify the settings, but couldn't find any leads till now. Dear Forum, We are currently running into a problem that the CODESYS OPC DA server is running out of RAM (larger than 2 GB). We have a setup of 10 Codesys controllers which features around 300.000 discoverable tags per controller. We are only interested in 10 percent of the tags to be communicated to the OPC-server, this is due to the fact the program consists of arrays of objects which on their part implements arrays of objects, simply reducing the number of discoverable tags is not an option The OPC-DA server loads all the discoverable tags, is it possible to: 1 let the OPC-DA server only load the tags that are requested by the SCADA/MES system. 2 let the OPC-DA server claim more memory. 3 run 2 OPC-DA servers in parallel? Hi, I have a "CODESYS Control Standard L" license and I use Ethercat and Profinet in my project. The project works seamlessly with two fieldbuses. However, when I add modbus_Com (Serial) or 1 OPC Tag to the project, the program throws an exception (Application app=Application has invalid license metrics!). My license should support 10*Modbus and 512 OPC Tags. Why might this problem occur?

Hi, I would like to divide a project into multiple applications - as a minimum: one handling visualization and Alarm Manager, one handling I/O and plant control logic. But how to exchange variables between the applications? What have you done to get such a solution? In versions 3.5.19 and earlier, you can have Child applications, where the children can access a GVL in the Parent application. Children apps is no longer possible in 3.5.20 - but you can have 'sibling' apps - Several apps directly under PLC Logic, that is. But how do they best communicate? The Communication Manager / Data Sources Manager is sort of possible via OPC UA, but it seems like overkill and with some limitations - for example no ARRAY OF STRUCT possible this way. If you have separate devices in your project, you can exchange data via 'CODESYS ApplicationV3', but not other applications in the same device (see attachment Datasources.png). You can do it via 'Select the project type'->'Other Project' and select the same project file, but this leads to crashing the Development system when working with the variables afterwards. It would be great to hear your thoughts / experiences on this topic - Bjarne

There appears to be a limit to the number of OPC Servers that can be connected simultaenously. 1-10 work but adding an 11th makes one of the previously linked ones unavailable. Is this a soft setting that can be adjusted? Using 3.5.18.30 on Win x64

Hi. Thanks for the answer. I think I found your post on the Wago forum. I have tried installing all different nodeset versions of the opcfoundation.org/UA but neither work. Though I could not find the nodeset version called 15.09.2021 anywhere online. The opcfoundation repository only goes back to version 1.04.11 2022-03-29. Also wondering how I can generate a custom information model that only refrences the latest version of nodesets?

Hi I am trying to import a custom information model that I created using UA Modeler. I have only added two new methods and two new object types. It is possible to add the information model to the Communication Manager and the two new object types are shown in the Information Model tab. After compiling i get the following error: Communication Manager [Device: PLC Logic: Application]: The information model http://opcfoundation.org/UA/ is required by http://yourorganisation.org/Bsp_3.1/ with a minimal publication date from 15.12.2023 but the device has only a model from 15.09.2021 installed. Probably the information model from 15.09.2021 is missing in the information model repository. The error message does not make sense to me. Should it not be “Probably the information model from 15/12/2023 is missing in the information model repository”? Anyway I have installed the information model from 15/12/2023 but not from 15/09/2021. Which makes the error message even stranger.
