I got this working using OPC UA. In the logic application I just added a Symbol Configuration. In the HMI application I added a Data Sources Manager and OPC UA Data Source. The one thing I don't like is the way the tags end up being named in the HMI application. In the logic application I have a program named PLC_PRG. It has a variable named testDINT. In the logic application the name I get for this variable is DeviceSet.CODESYS_Control_Win_V3_x64.Resources.Logic.Programs.PLC_PRG.testDINT. This is very long and looks like it could change if I used this on a different device type. Any ideas how I could get this name shortened down to just PLC_PRG.testDINT like it is on the Logic application?

Hello, I have developed a Python script that I run to import XML files into my project. For this, I use the Python function import_xml(). Everything was working fine when I was using Codesys platform plugins version 2.6.1.2320, but since I upgraded to versions 2.7 and even 2.8, some files are no longer imported correctly. After some research, I identified that all the files containing variables of the type "POINTER TO" are affected. I have attached a screenshot of the error I am encountering. Do you know about this bug? Do you plan to fix it?

Just downloaded stand alone setup, deleted old installer and installed new. Looked up at the installation log - MSI (c) (48:E0) [19:33:49:483]: Windows Installer installed the product. Product Name: CODESYS Installer. Product Version: 2.4.0.3545. Product Language: 1033. Manufacturer: CODESYS GmbH. Installation success or error status: 0. Installer still not running EDIT: It's working. Somehow my Windows Event Log service was disabled. I restarted the service and everything is working fine right now. Click the Start Menu or (Windows key + R) Type services.msc into the search field (Enter) Open the Services app Find a service you want to disable/enable (Windows Event Log), and double click Click Start

I have updated CODESYS development tool to the version v3.5 SP21 (64bit) The previous version was v3.5.20.40 Compiling an existing application with the new evelopment tool I get the following error. kunbusiodrvrevpibridge, 1.4.1.0 (kunbus gmbh): IoDrvScanModules [IoDrvRevPiBridge](Line 51, Column 1 (Impl)): Internal Error (ARM): Unsupported conversion! This error was not reported in the previous compiler version and is now highlighted in a third-party library, which I cannot change or modify. The error is due to the following conversion: m_udiError := TO_UDINT(excCode); . The excCode variable is a system type, declared as shown below, and should be converted to a UDINT excCode : __SYSTEM.ExceptionCode; m_udiError: UDINT; . I would appreciate it if someone could provide feedback on this issue.

You get an array of DWORD into your receive buffer. You need to process this into usable data, before you can fit it into your DUT. I've made it work using FbWrite_ToIEC_ByRule in stead of Fb_JSON_ParseAndModify. I've attached images of the code. You receive the data into ARRAY[0..1023] OF DWORD. Then you use that array as the input for fbWrite_ToIEC_ByRule. To get the output from this you define a rule to fit the expected data structure including nesting levels. The you feed the rule into FbWrite_ToIEC_ByRule and then you can set the output to be of your DUT type.

Hi, On CODESYS V3.5.19.50 I am using the latest 3S File Access library (CAA File & CAA Types) to save and retrieve configuration data from the User Data section of an SD card, via file called config.txt. The application reads the file to memory once upon initialisation, and then the only other operation is overwriting the file with the updated configuration whenever the user changes the settings. An issue is ocurring, seemingly randomly, where the config.txt file, and all surrounding directories, cannot be written to by the unit, returning a READ_ONLY_CAA error upon file open. This sometimes does not clear even after power-cycling the PLC several times, yet checking the file permissions with ls -l shows normal read, write, and execute access. I am wondering if this is caused by the PLC itself or by an issue in my application. Thanks So Much for the reply! Were using the Weidmuller UV66-ADV-10-CAP-W The HMI is pointed to the URL which is assigned through u-OS. Basically when you log into the controller's webserver via browser you can view the installed apps. One of which is the Codesys runtime. When you click on that it takes you to the visualization. That corresponding url is what the HMI is looking for. I apologize I don't have that on hand as I'm in the office right now. I don't think I tried connecting using the port you mentioned and https in lieu of the u_OS URL. I can certainly try. Out of the box the u-OS is set for HTTP. Since we're isolated I havent changed that yet. When this has happened while logged on via chrome on my laptop, simply refreshing brings the visualization right back. In the case of the HMI in kiosk mode, we power cycle the HMI to force a reconnect, log back in u-OS and the visualization is back.

Hello all, First post. I recently acquired an RPI zero W from amazon, and have been using it with Codesys v3.5 SP19 patch 2. I first got it working yesterday, and after installing the runtime on the Pi, I was prompted to install the edge gateway. Installation of the edge gateway failed because of unsupported architecture, undeterred I was able to connect to the pi and program as I wanted. The issue I've noticed is that if I do not load anything to the pi overnight, I can then no longer connect to the pi and download, although I can still ping it from my pc. I found that if I power cycle the PI, I am then able to connect again, and it works as normal. I did some googling and found instances where people recommended downloading the newest edge gateway, which brings me here. Wondering if there are any suggestions, or if this is a known issue. I actually tried installing all 3 versions of edge gateway for science, but all fail with the same message. Thanks -Dan

I'm looking for a smart and short way to implement initialization of visualization variables depending on the visualization input. For an easy example consider a rectangle which rests at XPos := 0 when the input state is false and at XPos := 50 when the input state is true. My visualization variables look like this: VAR_IN_OUT State : BOOL; END_VAR VAR XPos : INT; END_VAR I put this rectangle via a visualization frame element into another visualization and link a frame reference variable with the state to it. If the variable is true, the rectangle should rest at XPos := 50 and false at XPos := 0 at visualization init but how should I assign the 50 or 0 to the internal visualization variable XPos? I would need some init-methode for the visualization but I dont want a global init-method for such tasks. I want to do it inside of the visualization element but I can't see any solution for this? It would be good to be able to define ST-code within the visualization element which runs cyclic at each VISU_TASK task-cycle then I could just check the input state and change the XPos accordingly. Does someone have a solution?

Hi @ph0010421, I tried the program the TimeTaken is calculated when stop is triggered. I want the TimeTaken to be continuously calculated and counting when a BOOL variable is true. Using SDO, I can read the EtherCAT mappings and offsets from various registers like 0x1c12, 0x1c13, etc. When I obtain registers mapped in the PDOs and various offsets, I could technically access directly to the statusword, controlword, etc., if they are mapped. I have noticed that on IoDrvEthercatLib.ETCSlave_Diag I can find pointers to the input and output buffers. However, although the input buffer can be easily read by referring to what has been obtained from the SDOs, it is not possible to write to the output buffer, as it is overwritten in each cycle by the data from the IOMapping task. Is there a way, knowing an instance of IoDrvEthercatLib.ETCSlave_Diag, to obtain the pointer to the first data in the IOMapping? The offsets are identical to those of the PDOs, but obviously the data is a copy. For me, the cleanest thing would be to access the pointers on IOMapping, for DS402a devices to retrieve the key data and point them to internal references. I need to know this as, having developed our own motion library, I would like to simplify the initial setup by eliminating unnecessary and nonsensical mappings that can lead users to unnecessary errors. In the current version that we have been using for years, we have to map everything manually. I would like to pass only the slave reference to the FB_init constructors and eliminate the mapping.

Hi everyone, new at Codesys and PLC programming in general. I am using Codesys Win V3.5 SP20 I would like to measure an encoder's frequency output (obtaining that pulse train from Factory IO) and intended to use the MeasureFrequence FB (Intern/CAA/Utilities/CAA Mathematics/3.5.19.0). As mentioned in the title what I need to measure is low frequency, such as lower than 40hz (a cycle every 25mS) or so; I could even go lower frequency if required as this is for test purposes) therefore I am not expecting problem measuring a low frequency with that FB The library in question appears to be installed as I can retrieve it from the Library Repository. I can also see it from the Device's Library Manager. Problem arises when I am trying to instantiate this particular FB. I go like this: VAR MeasF:MeasureFrequence; END_VAR Please note that as soon as I start typing the "MeasureFrequence", the MeasureFrequence comes out as a viable option in auto-typing; seems to indicate that the FB is recognized somehow. But there is no way I can compile this as it comes back with the following: C0046: Identifier 'MeasureFrequence' not defined. Tried to rename that to ABC instead of MeasF; same issue. Possibly that the library is not properly installed ? Placeholder ? I would greatly appreciate a bit of guidance if possible. Thank you and regards, Mike

Hi, Learning Codesys CNC, and I am confused by the dwIpoTime parameter. I have a basic demo application, using SMC_Interpolator feeding into SMC_TRAFO_Gantry2Tool2, which then sets the position of the x/y SM_Drive_Virtual axis. I also have a C axis which revolves the tool, which is controlled using a simple tangential angle calculation SMC_CalcDirectionFromVector. The GCode I'm using has feed/accel set at 500. The axis configuration limits are well above that (2000). What's strange is that, when I run the simulation, the feed speed changes drastically when I update the variable dwIpoTime. The larger the number, the faster it moves. What's going on here? The documentation only says "This variable has to be set for each call. It represents the cycle time in μsec." Why does it change the feed speed I'm seeing the in simulation? What is a good number to use? The example I was looking at set it at 5000. Screenshot attached.

This is from 10 years ago, I know. But I have been using (SLAVE_DEVICE.iChannelIndex = CHANNEL_NUMBER) AND (SLAVE_DEVICE.xDone) I suppose that it shows xDone for the channel that shows up in the iChannelIndex at the same cycle? It seems to be working properly for two devices that I have been using it before But now I have another device and using two write channels, for one register each. One channel works properly and returns DONE flag When another channel is triggered, I see that it shows up in iChannelIndex, but flag DONE not received, but no Error for the channel. Also, when i check the register in the device it's evident that data has been transferred. Is this could happen sometimes with CODESYS, so DONE flag not received? Or this is a problem with a given device? With this certain register

I run CODESYS runtime as a service and use CmpLog (the LogAdd2 function) to log different events to a file. I have done this many times before on various projects and hardware, and it works fine. On this particular system, I have CODESYS 3.5.20.40 running on a Windows 11 PC. The CODESYSControlService autostarts (with Local System credentials, the default), and the application runs fine. However, the configuration file is not read (or at least not the one that should be, or not the CmpLog section), and log files are not written to the disk. I would be thankful if anyone knew why this is happening and how to fix it. A note to CODESYS people: you must provide more information on the codesys configuration file, CODESYSControlService.exe and other major components and system behaviour. You created the service and various features (i.e. logging), but haven't explained how they work, which, in my opinion, is below standard for industrial automation software. These are my observations: - When running as a service, the config file is not read (none of them), or at least the CmpLog section is not read. I checked the log using Codesys IDE, and the CmpLog parameters are not the ones I have set in any of the config files. Which CmpLog config values does the service use, and where does it read them from? I have no idea, but it's not the config files. Here are the codesys config files I located on the PC's disk: o C:\Program Files (x86)\CODESYS 3.5.20.40\GatewayPLC\CODESYSControl.cfg (only 2 lines in this config) o C:\Program Files (x86)\CODESYS 3.5.20.40\GatewayPLC\AppDataFiles\CODESYSControlWinV3\CODESYSControl.cfg o C:\Users\SRV\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3\C4DBB537\CODESYSControl.cfg o C:\Program Files (x86)\CODESYS 3.5.20.40\GatewayPLC\tempCFG\CODESYSControl.cfg - When I run codesys as an app (e.g. by clicking the icon), this config file is read C:\Users\SRV\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3\C4DBB537\CODESYSControl.cfg and log files are written ok. The icon target is "C:\Program Files (x86)\CODESYS 3.5.20.40\GatewayPLC\CODESYSControlService.exe" -d o the -d option, I think, starts a cmd-like window showing service debug output (the output shown in log in the IDE) o the -i option, again I think, means install the service - I tried adding -d to service start parameters in the registry, but it started only once and after that it refused to start. Hi! I tried setting up the PLC I'm working with (Beijer GN-9373) to connect to a modbus master running on a laptop. I have an ethernet connection (via USB-C to ethernet) between the laptop and the controller. I have tried following tutorial on how to set this up. I have added an ethernet device with the IP-address of the PLC. Further I added a ModbusTCP_Slave_Device with default settings. I get the error "Failed to open TCP Port: 1" when I try to go online with the PLC. Earlier I tested the exact same set up with the soft PLC from codesys. Make sure the O->T and T->O bytes required by the remote device match the configuration in Codesys. Most of the EDS files I've imported have not worked by default. See the attached images for the connections and assemblies tabs. Note that the connections are in Bytes and the assemblies are in bits, you have to have enough bits to equal the bytes. Either mismatch will give a red/orange triangle. Page 343 of the manual (assuming the STF10-IP is an applied motion microstep driver) has some recommended connection settings, you should be able to confirm the input and output bits somehow, some devices have a web GUI, some require a software tool.

Update: We managed to avoid the warnings by changing the order of initialization by adding an attribute to the GVL with the variables. {attribute 'global_init_slot' := '49989'} The variables are initialized right before the regular GVLs (default GVL slot 49990). Note to Codesys: I see the problem, Codesys needs to initialize the CNC objects before the GVLs so they can be used in the GVL. But then you can't use variables from GVLs in CNC programs. Maybe you could disable the warning in your generated CNC objects? At least a note for a workaround would have been nice.

Hello, I am using a Hitachi Micro EHV+ for a small project, and I wanted to have a Web visu, done with Codesys V3.5 SP13 Patch 2. I test the Visu screen and it works well in Codesys, but I get a blank page when i enter the web visu in a browser. Here is the setting under web visualization: Update rate (ms): 5000 (previously set to 2500 also not working) Default communication size: 100000 (previously set to 50000 also not working) Under Visu_Task tab: Priority: 3 The Visu_Task interval is set to 2500ms (previously set to 200ms also not working) I'm using Google chrome with the latest update, the Javascript is enabled with HTML5. Any advice?

Hi, I have a XY system and use a CNC file to move it. Everything works OK, except for the following: when CNC execution starts, the system rushes at high speed to (X=0, Y=0) point, and only then goes to the first line of the CNC file. If one of the axes is near 0, the system jumps and immediately stops with an error. In the CNC file settings (screenshot attached) I specified low default values for speed/acceleration and a start position different from 0,0 - but all that is ignored. Any idea how to avoid that move to 0,0 ? Thanks.
