Post by fmon on Modbus TCP client reconnection problem CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I am using codesys Modbus TCP client (4.4.0.0) to communicate with a python modbus server (package pyModbusTCP). I first start my python server on the distant machine. After a fresh codesys compilation, a plc connection/transfer and a PLC run, the modbus connection is OK. Every time in this context the connection is created correctly. When I shut down the server, the modbus connection falls, that is normal. When I restart the python server, impossible to recreate the modbus connexion. With the client autoreconnection, I see on my server that the client tries to connect but unsuccesfully. I have the following message : DEBUG:pyModbusTCP.server:accept new connection from ClientInfo(address='192.168.1.20', port=33476) DEBUG:pyModbusTCP.server:Exception during request handling: NetworkError('recv return null') I tried to stop the codesys client and to restart it with these commands : Modbus_TCP_Client.xStop := True; // Or False Modbus_TCP_Client.Enable := True; // Or False Modbus_TCP_Server.Enable := True; // Or False I tried to confirm the error manually to force reconnection with: Modbus_TCP_Server_Motors.xConfirmError := TRUE; I tried also this command to STOP/RESET/START client and server (codesys side) but nothing happens : status_client := Modbus_TCP_Client.SetCommunicationState(eRequestedState := DED.DEVICE_TRANSITION_STATE.STOP); // .RESET & .START The answer of this function when executed is "status_client = NOT_SUPPORTED". Is it normal ? It seems that is a socket problem, but I do not understand if it is on the client or server side. I tried a modbus simulator called "ananas.exe" and the result is the same. Impossible to get a modbus client reconnection. What is different at the first client connection and at a reconnection attempt ? Thanks for your help

Hi, I try to send and receive data using a UDP connection via SysSocket 3.5.17.0. While sending data works fine, I have problems with the receiving part.I am able to capture the data of client side in wireshark but i am unable to capture it in the codesys. Hello, I’m working on implementing Modbus RTU communication with a Carel controller (CPCO). I want to use the front RS485 interface through the DB9 connector. The issue is that I can’t get the communication working correctly. Below are the steps I’ve done so far: Connected pins 3 and 8 from the DB9 connector to the +/- RX/TX terminals on the Carel side. In the PLC shell, I set serialmode to RS485. In WBM under Administration > Serial Interface > Assign owner of serial interface, I set the port to unassigned. In the device tree, I created Modbus_COM with the following settings: COM port: 1 Baud rate: 19200 Parity: None Stop bits: 1 Created a Modbus client on this COM interface in RTU mode. Under the status tab, I can see it is in running state. On the client, I created a Modbus server and set the Modbus address of my unit to 1. Defined a few channels as FC03 to read holding registers according to the Carel register map. I checked the communication with the Carel controller using a USB-to-RS485 converter connected to my PC, and communication works correctly there. In the status tab, I can see that the Modbus server is polling, but there is no response from the controller. I also tried multiple times swapping A/B lines on the Carel side, but it did not help. Do you have any suggestions on what else I should check?

Post by hwillems on Ranges, Lambdas, on Fixed arrays of structs CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I do datastructures and algorithms in Codesys. For example a Struct of Person with thing's like IdNumber, Name, Age etc. as example. Now i do all kind of calculations, filters. So i have this pretty big Fixed Array with Structs. On this struct i want to do simple stuff you can do easily in C++/Python/Rust etc. For example i want to do this: AvererageAge := Average(Peoples.Age); Then it will return the average of all members ages. Or Sort struct on age etc. Or sort on alphabetical Name. Or use Lambda functions to filter/mutate out things like, filter out everybody above 18 years old. Or remove people who it's name start with "A". Currently i have to write my own custom function for example sorting on Age. And make a super specific function based on that particulare datastructure. Here an Example: (*Before calling this FIlter method, set the mNodeFilterSwitch to the desired filter.*) CASE mNodeFilterSelect OF (********************************[ Status Filters ]***********************************) NodeID: FOR x := ACS_OUT_BEGIN TO ACS_OUT_END BY 1 DO FOR y := ACS_IN_BEGIN TO ACS_IN_END BY 1 DO IF marrNode[y].Status.oiNodeID > marrNode[y + 1].Status.oiNodeID THEN mNodeTemp := marrNode[y + 1]; marrNode[y + 1] := marrNode[y]; marrNode[y] := mNodeTemp; END_IF; END_FOR; END_FOR; Started: FOR x := DES_OUT_BEGIN TO DES_OUT_END BY -1 DO FOR y := DES_IN_BEGIN TO DES_IN_END BY -1 DO IF marrNode[y].Status.oxStarted > marrNode[y - 1].Status.oxStarted THEN mNodeTemp := marrNode[y - 1]; marrNode[y - 1] := marrNode[y]; marrNode[y] := mNodeTemp; END_IF; END_FOR; END_FOR; Starting: FOR x := DES_OUT_BEGIN TO DES_OUT_END BY -1 DO FOR y := DES_IN_BEGIN TO DES_IN_END BY -1 DO IF marrNode[y].Status.oxStarting > marrNode[y - 1].Status.oxStarting THEN mNodeTemp := marrNode[y - 1]; marrNode[y - 1] := marrNode[y]; marrNode[y] := mNodeTemp; END_IF; END_FOR; END_FOR; END_CASE; I have like 30+ of these in the enum. Not really DRY code right? These are custom made bubble sort filters in a function. You pass in the Datastructure, and say what function you want. (This is an enum collection of sorting functions) And then the Array with Nodes of Structs gets ordered. Why can't we have Iterators and Lambda's and build in standard functions like regular languages? Also i use bubble sort because it's the easiest to implement because i can't get this to code DRY. Problem with ST (Even the new one with classes) that it's very limited for programming datastructures and algorithms. Yes you still not want dynamic memory and you need to choose the correct algorithm so you know the most extreme edge cases regarding the time it takes to execute the algorithms.(Real-time execution) How are other people dealing with this? Here for example saw some software using an adjusted ST language and having FOR EACH possibility: https://www.fernhillsoftware.com/help/iec-61131/structured-text/st-for-each.html You can then build your own custom Iterator functions. I wish the IEC 61131-3 standard would be more expressive and having more standard modern features, but still keep close to the fact of no dynamics memory and real-time systems.

Post by mubeta on Some 'pathetic' errors in SoftMotion program CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Thank you for your interest. Your answers are in line with what I knew, so at least it comforts me that I did not misinterpret the situation. However, I don't have an exact match as, for this project over the past few days I have: 1) I have gone back to leaving the various FBs of the motion always called, all of them, and in the state machine I use a boolean to activate the various useful Execute. (But in the future I want to go back and try the programming technique with which I wanted to develop this project); 2) For the occasional error: SMC_FB_WASNT_CALLED_DURING_MOTION perhaps it was due to the fact that I had set the Ethercat bus synchronism only at the CAN master level, but not at the level of individual drives. I have now also activated it for the individual drives and it does indeed seem to have been resolved, but having also adopted the programming technique mentioned in point 1), I cannot say whether this was the solution to the problem, or instead the previous point. Is there an error ā€˜regulator or start not set’ in the device log before the error ā€˜motion generating FB wasn't called for at least one cycle’? I can't answer that right now. By now the machine is running and I am no longer there, at this one. Also, I seem to remember that the 'fbeFBerror' drive structure (5-element array), does not cycle, BUT ONCE THE 5 EVENTS AFTER SWITCHING ON, IT DOES NOT UPDATE ANYMORE (but that's another issue), so diagnostics were not easy.

Post by jeffg on ERROR: GetNetLinkSockAndInfoByMac(): could not open netlink socket: Too many open files CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I just installed codesys runtime on a raspberry pi Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.5GHz (Compute Module 4) I am running on Codesys control for raspberry pi 64 SL ver 4.13.0 and I keep getting a crash after about five to ten minutes. This program was running fine on a 32bit system with runtime 4.8 previously but they upgraded the panel PC cause it got smashed. Looking at the logs I see this error "ERROR: GetNetLinkSockAndInfoByMac(): could not open netlink socket: Too many open files" at the time of crash. I do have a UDP socket open for a serial to ethernet adapter and im wondering if maybe its opening a bunch of sockets and while receiving messages, Im not sending anything to the device only receiving. Below is the code used for the UDP VAR // Scale Comm fbPeerServer : NBS.UDP_Peer; ipAddress : NBS.IPv4Address; fbReceive : NBS.UDP_Receive; xPeerActiv : BOOL := TRUE; abyReceive : ARRAY [0..255] OF BYTE; sLastValidReceive : STRING(255); udiIndex : UDINT; END_VAR IF xPeerActiv AND NOT fbPeerServer.xBusy THEN ipAddress.SetInitialValue(ipAddress := gvlSettings.sIPAddres); fbPeerServer(xEnable := TRUE, itfIPAddress := ipAddress, uiPort := gvlSettings.uiPort); END_IF fbPeerServer(); fbReceive(xEnable := fbPeerServer.xBusy, itfPeer := fbPeerServer, pData := ADR(abyReceive), udiSize := SIZEOF(abyReceive)); IF fbReceive.udiCount > 0 THEN IF fbReceive.udiCount < SIZEOF(sLastValidReceive) THEN SysMem.SysMemCpy(pDest := ADR(sLastValidReceive), pSrc := ADR(abyReceive), udiCount := fbReceive.udiCount); // Set End of String sLastValidReceive[fbReceive.udiCount] := 0; END_IF END_IF If anyone as seen this I could really use some help figuring it out. I included the Log report

Post by timvh on Get Alarm status in Codesys CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
You are right, that you can use the GetState method, but it is not that simple. You first have to get a list of (filtered) alarms from the AlarmManager. You can find an example in Forge how to do this. See https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/alarm-manager/home/Home/ Then you can go through this list to get the state of all the (filtered) alarms. See below the code which you could use. This is all based on the example from forge. Create a program: // This example shows how to access alarms via structured text. PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR xInit : BOOL := TRUE; udiResult : UDINT; fbAlarmFilterCriteriaAll : FB_AlarmFilterCriteriaAll; fbAlarmManagerClient : FB_AlarmManagerClient; itfAlarmManagerClient : IAlarmManagerClient := fbAlarmManagerClient; xAlarm1 : BOOL; xAlarm2 : BOOL; xWarning : BOOL; iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList : INT; iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList : INT; paitfAlarm: POINTER TO ARRAY [0..0] OF AlarmManager.IAlarm; iAlarmIndex : INT; eAlarmState: AlarmManager.AlarmState; END_VAR IF xInit THEN xInit := FALSE; fbAlarmManagerClient.itfAlarmFilterCriteria := fbAlarmFilterCriteriaAll; // register alarm client to get updated about alarm status / changes udiResult := AlarmManager.g_AlarmHandler.RegisterClient(itfAlarmManagerClient, 0, 0); END_IF // Polling the number of alarms udiResult := AlarmManager.g_AlarmHandler.GetActiveAlarms(itfAlarmManagerClient, parritfActiveAlarms => paitfAlarm, iCountActiveAlarms => iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList); iAlarmIndex := 0; iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList := 0; WHILE iAlarmIndex < iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList DO eAlarmState := paitfAlarm^[iAlarmIndex].GetState(); IF eAlarmState = AlarmManager.AlarmState.Active OR eAlarmState = AlarmManager.AlarmState.ActiveAcknowledged THEN iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList := iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList + 1; END_IF iAlarmIndex := iAlarmIndex + 1; END_WHILE See below some details about the function blocks: One function block should implement the IAlarmFilterCriteria interface. This can be empty except a few methods. FUNCTION_BLOCK FB_AlarmFilterCriteriaAll IMPLEMENTS AlarmManager.IAlarmFilterCriteria Method implementation (others related to interface are empty) METHOD AreAllAlarmClassesSelected : BOOL AreAllAlarmClassesSelected := TRUE; METHOD AreAllAlarmGroupsSelected : BOOL AreAllAlarmGroupsSelected := TRUE; METHOD GetPriorityFrom : USINT GetPriorityFrom := 0; METHOD GetPriorityTo : USINT GetPriorityTo := 255; The other function block should implement IAlarmManagerClient and get a reference to the FB which implements the IAlarmFilterCriteria FUNCTION_BLOCK FB_AlarmManagerClient IMPLEMENTS AlarmManager.IAlarmManagerClient VAR_INPUT itfAlarmFilterCriteria: AlarmManager.IAlarmFilterCriteria; END_VAR Method implementation (others related to the interface are empty) METHOD GetFilterCriteria : AlarmManager.IAlarmFilterCriteria // see VAR_INPUT for filter GetFilterCriteria := itfAlarmFilterCriteria; Off course you have to add the AlarmManager to your application and add some alarms to it.

Post by greenwood on CODESYS Control Raspberry Pi mit Servotreiber T6 von StepperOnline CODESYS Forge talk (Post)

Post by ppix on Establishing TLS Connection with MQTT Broker using MQTT Client SL Package CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I’m currently working on establishing a TLS connection with an MQTT broker using the MQTT Client SL package in CODESYS. While I’ve successfully established communication with the broker without TLS, I'm encountering issues when trying to enable TLS. In the 'MQTT Explorer' application, I can easily upload the server certificate (.crt), client certificate (.crt), and client key (.key). However, in CODESYS, I can’t find a way to upload my client key (.key file). Here's a summary of my current setup: Certificates: I have uploaded both the client and server certificates to the certificate store under the 'Trusted Certificates' folder in the security screen. TLS Context Initialization: Despite setting the _sCommonName as the name of my client certificate, a new self-signed certificate is created and placed within the device’s certificates. I then need to manually move this certificate to the trusted certificates folder. This results in three certificates in my trusted certs folder: client cert, server cert, and the newly created cert. _ciDefaultCertInfo : MQTT.NBS.CERT_INFO := (psInfo := ADR(_sCommonName), udiSize := TO_UDINT(LEN(_sCommonName))); // CN of the certificate (common name) _sCipherList : MQTT.NBS.CIPHER_LIST := STRUCT(psList := ADR('HIGH'), udiSize := 4); // Cipher string see https://www.openssl.org/docs/man1.1.1/man1/ciphers.html _tlsContext : MQTT.NBS.TLSContext := ( sUseCaseName := _sCommonName, // A certificate is stored in the certificate store with the use case name. You can choose any name. Here we use the common name. ePurpose := MQTT.NBS.PURPOSE.CLIENT_SIDE, // For client certificates set this to NBS.PURPOSE.CLIENT_SIDE sTLSVersion := '1.3', // The TLS version sCipherList := _sCipherList, // Set the cipher list sHostname := sHostname, // The hostname of the broker udiVerificationMode := 2, // 2 => Active Peer verification ciCertInfo := _ciDefaultCertInfo, // Set the cert info itfCertVerifer := 0); // 0 => No Verifier mqttClient : MQTT.MQTTClient := (xUseTLS:=TRUE, itfTLSContext := _tlsContext, itfAsyncProperty := _asyncProperty); Additional Details: In the client FB, I’ve set uiPort:= 8883, xUseTLS:= TRUE, and configured itfTLSContext as mentioned above. The certificates are encrypted with SHA256RSA. sHostname is the IP address of my broker. I’ve attached a copy of the client FB, which shows straight lines where variables are assigned and boxes where they are not. I am currently trying this on the only 2 compatible versions of COSDESYS with my controller (V3.5.15.20 and V3.5.18.40) My Question: How do I correctly set up this mTLS connection? What might I be missing? Any guidance or suggestions would be greatly appreciated, especially considering I’ve already successfully established a non-TLS connection with the same broker. Thank you in advance for your help!

Post by mgabryel on Problems with CAN 2.0 comunication on Wago PLC (Codesys 3.5) CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I am trying to program CAN Bus comunication on WAGO PLC (more precisely on WAGO Touch Monitor model TP600). I am using for this purpose library "WagoAppCanLayer2" from Wago company. My IDE for programming this device is CODESYS V3.5 SP19 Patch 2 + (64-bit). My program is written in Structured text using function blocks from previously mentioned library. Here is code of this program: 1) Variables declarations: PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR oOpenInterface : WagoAppCanLayer2.FbCanL2Open :=( udiBaudrate := 125000 ); xInterfaceIsOpen : BOOL; sInterfaceInfo : STRING; oReceive : WagoAppCanLayer2.FbCanRx29BitFrame :=( xBufferMode := FALSE, wCanId := 16#181 ); xRecv : BOOL; sReceiveInfo : STRING; oSend : WagoAppCanLayer2.FbCanTx29BitFrame :=( dwCanId := 16#100, //was 16#201 xRtrFrame := FALSE ); xSend : BOOL; sSendInfo : STRING; oCanDiag : WagoAppCanLayer2.FbCanErrorInfo; xRst : BOOL; aSendData : ARRAY [1..8] OF BYTE; bSendLen : BYTE; TON_0 : TON; TON_1 : TON; END_VAR 2) Program body: oOpenInterface( xEnable := NOT xInterfaceIsOpen, I_Port := IoConfig_Globals.WAGO_CAN_LAYER2_DEVICE ); sInterfaceInfo := oOpenInterface.oStatus.GetDescription(); xInterfaceIsOpen S= oOpenInterface.xValid AND NOT oOpenInterface.xError; oReceive( xEnable := xInterfaceIsOpen, I_Port := IoConfig_Globals.WAGO_CAN_LAYER2_DEVICE, xRxTrigger := xRecv ); sReceiveInfo := oReceive.oStatus.GetDescription(); IF NOT xRecv THEN IF oReceive.bRxNBytes > 0 THEN oReceive.aRxBuffer[1]; oReceive.aRxBuffer[2]; oReceive.aRxBuffer[3]; oReceive.aRxBuffer[4]; oReceive.aRxBuffer[5]; oReceive.aRxBuffer[6]; oReceive.aRxBuffer[7]; oReceive.aRxBuffer[8]; END_IF xRecv := TRUE; END_IF aSendData[1] := 224; aSendData[2] := 13; aSendData[3] := 14; aSendData[4] := 15; aSendData[5] := 222; aSendData[6] := 13; aSendData[7] := 14; aSendData[8] := 15; bSendLen := 8; TON_0(IN:= NOT TON_1.Q, PT:= T#2S , Q=>xSend, ET=> ); TON_1(IN:= TON_0.Q, PT:= T#2S , Q=>, ET=> ); oSend( xEnable := xInterfaceIsOpen, I_Port := IoConfig_Globals.WAGO_CAN_LAYER2_DEVICE, aTxBuffer := aSendData, bTxNBytes := bSendLen, xTxTrigger := xSend ); sSendInfo := oSend.oStatus.GetDescription(); oCanDiag( xEnable := TRUE, I_Port := IoConfig_Globals.WAGO_CAN_LAYER2_DEVICE, xTriggerResetCounter := xRst, xValid=> , xError=> , oStatus=> , wBusState=> , wBusDiag=> , uiRxOverflowsL2=> , uiTxOverflowsL2=> , uiRxOverflows=> , uiMsgTimeouts=> , uiBusOffs=> , uiBusWarnings=> ); Program first opens comunication on CAN 2 device and then periodically try send one CAN data frame. After starting program CAN 2 interface is properly open. The xSend variable is toggling with period 2s. When program sends data an "Tx overflow" error appears. When I am watching CAN_H line on DSub 9 socket i am not able to see proper CAN frames - see screenshot attached to this message. Could somebody help me determine what is wrong with this program. Best regards

I had this code working in a previous version of CoDeSys to read variables from a GVL that were added to the Symbol configuration. The problem now is that when I get the _IBaseTreeNode_Parent, it returns a valid interface, but none of the methods or properties work. If you monitor the _IBaseTreeNode in the watch window, it does show the correct child count. However, it fails at step 30, where the child count incorrectly returns zero. In the image, you can see that the watch window displays the correct value that the property should return. Attached is the full project code. Post by mariapaola on Port instantiation of serial interface in WAGO PLC using Modb_L05.lib in CoDeSys v2.3 CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, Would really appreciate your insights in this issue I have. I am currently using a WAGO 750-881 with multiple IO devices. For one of them I already occupied the MODBUS Master configuration tool so I cannot overwrite it for my other devices. I have a total of two serial interfaces WAGO 750-652. The first one is instantiated in COM2 and doesn't need any protocol since the information comes in an specific formatting that need little code to differentiate between needed info. This one is working just fine. The second one is where I have an issue. I have tried to instantiate the port using MODBUS library modb_L05.lib to properly receive the data from an ARDUINO and I am absolutely unable to open the port: Signal DEVICE2.fbModbus.MODBUS_EXT_MASTER.Interface.Com_Port_Ist_Offen is never TRUE, among with all other signals from that interface, while signal DEVICE1.COM2.Com_Port_Ist_Offen is TRUE, and the other signals also read as TRUE or FALSE. I have tried instantiating the second one as the first one, changing COM3 to COM4, I've tried a lot of things but it wont ever open the channel. I don't know if you have any recommendations for me. For both physical modules, both witness LEDs A and E are on. First one is instantiated like this: PROGRAM DEVICE1 VAR wBaudRate : WORD := BAUD_9600; bDataBits : BYTE := 8; bParity : BYTE := 0; bFlowControl : BYTE := 3; (RS422 FullDuplex with continous send) i : INT; COM2 : SERIAL_INTERFACE; xOpenPort2 : BOOL := TRUE; ( Flag to open the Port ) xInitPort2 : BOOL; ( Flag to initiallize the Port ) ReceiveBuffer2 : typRing_Buffer; END_VAR COM2( bCOM_PORT_NR := 2, cbBAUDRATE := wBaudRate, cbsBYTESIZE := bDataBits, cpPARITY := bParity, csSTOPBITS := STOPBITS_1, cfFLOW_CONTROL := bFlowControl, utRECEIVE_BUFFER := ReceiveBuffer2, ptSEND_BUFFER := ADR(SendString2), xINIT := xInitPort2, xOPEN_COM_PORT := xOpenPort2, iBYTES_TO_SEND := LEN(SendString2)+1, xSTART_SEND := xSendActive2 ); Second one like this: PROGRAM DEVICE2 VAR COM4 : SERIAL_INTERFACE; xInitPort4 : BOOL := TRUE; xOpenPort4 : BOOL := TRUE; ReceiveBuffer4 : typRing_Buffer; fbModbus : MODBUS_EXTENDED_MASTER_RTU; fbError : enumMB_ERROR; stQuery : typModbusExtendedQuery; stResponse : typModbusResponse; au16Data : ARRAY[0..14] OF WORD; i : INT; tPoll : TON; END_VAR COM4( bCOM_PORT_NR := 4, cbBAUDRATE := BAUD_9600, cbsBYTESIZE := 8, cpPARITY := 0, csSTOPBITS := STOPBITS_1, cfFLOW_CONTROL := 2, ( RS-485 half-duplex ) utRECEIVE_BUFFER := ReceiveBuffer4, xINIT := xInitPort4, xOPEN_COM_PORT := xOpenPort4, xSTART_SEND := xSendActive4, ); stQuery.SlaveAddress := 1; stQuery.FunctionCode := 3; stQuery.Read_StartAddress := 0; stQuery.Read_Quantity := 15; (Poll code) fbModbus( ENABLE := TRUE, bCOM_PORT := 4, ( COM4=> 750-652 port ) cbCOM_BAUDRATE := BAUD_9600, cpCOM_PARITY := 0, csCOM_STOPBITS := 1, cbsCOM_BYTESIZE := 8, cfCOM_FLOW_CONTROL := 2, TimeOut := T#500ms, StartFunction := xStart, ExtQuery := stQuery, Response := stResponse, MB_Error => fbError ); FOR i := 0 TO 14 DO au16Data[i] := stResponse.Data[i]; END_FOR;

Post by smeitink on Timeout Error in Modbus Communication with WAGO PFC200 and iEM2050 Meter using 750-652 Module CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi all, I'm looking for help with an issue I've come across while trying to facilitate Modbus communication between a WAGO PFC200 PLC using a 750-652 communication module and an iEM2050 Series Single Phase Energy Meter. I believe to have everything wired and setup correcty, but I keep running into a "Error time out" message, and by now I don't really know what else to try. My setup is as follows: A PFC200 Wago PLC, which has 2 750-652 Serial Interfaces extension modules connected to its field bus. I'm using one of these to talk to a Schneider iEM2050 - kWh-meter over modbus. I have connected terminal 23 (A) of the iEM2050 to connector 6 (A) on the 750-652. I have connected terminal 24 (B) of the iEM2050 to connector 2 (B) of the 750-652. I'm using 200mm of twisted together wires to connected them both, and I have placed a 120 ohm resistor between A and B at both ends. I've attached relevant pinout images to this post. I then wrote a simple program that configures the Mobus port, as per the datasheet of the iEM2050. You can find an image of the relavent page attached to this post too. This is my program: PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR Master: FbMbMasterSerial; xIsConnected: BOOL; xError: BOOL; iIndex: INT := 1; xTrigger: BOOL; utQuery : typMbQuery := ( bUnitId := 1, // The Modbus unit or slave address bFunctionCode := 4, // Function code for reading input registers uiReadAddress := 1829, // adress for the Power on off counter uiReadQuantity := 1 // Quantity of registers to read ); iStep: INT; oStatusModbus: WagoSysErrorBase.FbResult; utResponseModbus: typMbResponse; xConnect: BOOL := FALSE; delayTimer: TON; END_VAR Master( xConnect:= xConnect, I_Port:= _750_652_24_1, udiBaudrate:= 9600, usiDataBits:= 8, eParity:= WagoTypesCom.eTTYParity.Even, eStopBits:= WagoTypesCom.eTTYStopBits.One, eHandshake:= WagoTypesCom.eTTYHandshake.None, ePhysical:= WagoTypesCom.eTTYPhysicalLayer.RS485_HalfDuplex, xIsConnected=> xIsConnected, xError=> xError, oStatus=> oStatusModbus, eFrameType:= WagoAppPlcModbus.eMbFrameType.RTU, tTimeOut:= T#5S, utQuery:= utQuery, xTrigger:= xTrigger, utResponse:= utResponseModbus); delayTimer(IN := TRUE, PT := T#3S); // Use the Q output of the timer to set xConnect after the delay IF delayTimer.Q THEN xConnect := TRUE; END_IF CASE iStep OF 0: //Wacht totdat de master de poort geopend heeft IF xIsConnected THEN iStep := 1; END_IF 1: //Stuur request naar de slave xTrigger := TRUE; iStep := 2; 2: //Wacht totdat de master klaar is met het afhandelen van de request IF NOT xTrigger THEN iStep := 3; END_IF END_CASE The TON delay before opening the port is due to a an error I encountered when opening it straight away. This seems to be a bug, as described here. However, the TON solved that particular issue. I tried reading multiple registers, but like I said, I still always end up with the "Error time out". What else can I test or try at this point?

Post by bschraud on Speicherbegrenzung für lokale Variablen CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Post by paulg on RasPi CAA Serial example - unexpected behavior during debug CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I've trimmed down the CAA Serial Codesys example to only listen on one port but, when stepping through the Case structure in debug mode, it jumps out of the structure during a specific point in every scan (I'll point it out below after describing the setup and listing the code). I'm using a Pi 4 Model B, and I have an Arduino Nano Every plugged in via USB which is streaming the following serial message at 1 Hz: Time since opening connection: 1 s Time since opening connection: 2 s ...and so on. The Pi shows the Nano at /dev/ttyACM0 so I edited CODESYSControl_User.cfg to read: Linux.Devicefile=/dev/ttyACM The code in my PLC_PRG is (ignore some of the comments, I hadn't deleted them out from the original example): PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR xStartTest : BOOL:= TRUE; iState : INT; xTestDone : BOOL;(* True, when the test was done succesfully *) (* Settings to communicate with the COM Port *) aCom1Params : ARRAY [1..7] OF COM.PARAMETER; como1 : COM.Open; comc1 : COM.Close; comw1 : COM.Write; comr1 : COM.Read; //sWrite : STRING := 'Test String!'; sRead : STRING(25); szRead : CAA.SIZE; xCom1OpenError : BOOL; xCom1CloseError : BOOL; xCom1WriteError : BOOL; xCom1ReadError : BOOL; END_VAR //This example shows the communication of two COM Ports with each other. //The first one writes a string of characters, which is read by the second one. //After successful execution, the two COM Ports are closed and the test is done. IF xStartTest THEN CASE iState OF 0: //The parameters are set for the COM Port aCom1Params[1].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiPort; aCom1Params[1].udiValue := 1; // the correct Port should be adapted aCom1Params[2].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiBaudrate; aCom1Params[2].udiValue := 115200; aCom1Params[3].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiParity; aCom1Params[3].udiValue := INT_TO_UDINT(COM.PARITY.NONE); aCom1Params[4].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiStopBits; aCom1Params[4].udiValue := INT_TO_UDINT(COM.STOPBIT.ONESTOPBIT); aCom1Params[5].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiTimeout; aCom1Params[5].udiValue := 0; aCom1Params[6].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiByteSize; aCom1Params[6].udiValue := 8; aCom1Params[7].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiBinary; aCom1Params[7].udiValue := 0; //The first Port is opened with the given parameters como1(xExecute := TRUE, usiListLength:=SIZEOF(aCom1Params)/SIZEOF(COM.PARAMETER),pParameterList:= ADR(aCom1Params)); IF como1.xError THEN xCom1OpenError := TRUE; iState := 1000; END_IF //After a successful opening, the next state is reached IF como1.xDone THEN iState := 15; END_IF 15: // the reading process is started comr1(xExecute := TRUE,hCom:= como1.hCom, pBuffer:= ADR(sRead), szBuffer:= SIZEOF(sRead)); IF comr1.xError THEN xCom1ReadError := TRUE; END_IF //After completion the size of the written bytes are saved IF comr1.xDone OR comr1.xError THEN szRead := comr1.szSize; iState := 20; END_IF 20: // If everything was successful the ports are closed and the handles are released comc1(xExecute := TRUE,hCom:= como1.hCom); IF comc1.xError THEN xCom1CloseError := TRUE; END_IF IF comc1.xDone OR comc1.xError THEN iState := 25; END_IF 25: // The first port is closed and the used handle released xTestDone := TRUE; xStartTest := FALSE; iState := 0; como1(xExecute := FALSE); comw1(xExecute := FALSE); comc1(xExecute := FALSE); ELSE iState := 0; END_CASE END_IF I realize as I write this that the .udiPort should be 0 and not 1, but that shouldn't be causing the issue I'm seeing. I'm forcing xStartTest:=TRUE every scan so that I can step into each line and observe what's happening. What I see is that the port parameters are set and the port is opened with no errors, but the code jumps out of the case structure to the last line every time it reaches (and I step into) the iState:=15 line (at the end of the iState:=0 block). So every scan cycle it goes through the block for iState=0 and jumps out at the same spot. I'm a little new to PLC programming so I may be misunderstanding the flow, but shouldn't this case structure keep moving down in the same scan? If it only handles one case per scan, why doesn't the value of iState persist? Thanks! Update: I restarted the Codesys control today and I was then able to see an error for como1.eError of "WRONG_PARAMETER". I tried doing some digging and another post made me think I should add another line to CODESYSControl_User.cfg, so I now have: [SysCom] Linux.Devicefile=/dev/ttyACM portnum := COM.SysCom.SYS_COMPORT1 So now when I set .udiPort to 1, I get "NO_ERROR" but I also don't read anything from the port (i.e. szRead = 0 always). If I try setting the port to 0 (which I'm confused about, because I added a COMPORT1 line but the device shows on the Pi as ACM0), I get the "WRONG_PARAMETER" error again. Is there an easier way to troubleshoot the Pi and view what ports the Codesys runtime is actually able to see while the Pi is running?

Post by baltzer on ICertificateVerifier.VerifyCertificate doesn't appear to override an ERR_CERT_HAS_EXPIRED rejection in TCP_Client.Upgrade() CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Setup: Net Base Services (NBS), TCP_Client + TLSContext, ePurpose := CLIENT_SIDE, connecting to a third-party embedded device (Velux KLF200 home automation gateway) whose factory-installed TLS certificate expired on 2026-07-12 and has no user-facing renewal path. Tested on both CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL (3.5.19.0) and CODESYS Control Win V3 x64, with identical results on both. Goal: Accept the peer's expired certificate via a custom ICertificateVerifier implementation, since the certificate itself can never be replaced. Implementation: FUNCTION_BLOCK FB_MyCertVerifier IMPLEMENTS NBS.ICertificateVerifier VAR udiCallCount : UDINT; aeCurStateLog : ARRAY[0..9] OF NBS.RTS_IEC_RESULT; END_VAR METHOD VerifyCertificate : UDINT VAR_INPUT hCert : NBS.RTS_IEC_HANDLE; eCurState : NBS.RTS_IEC_RESULT; END_VAR IF udiCallCount < 10 THEN aeCurStateLog[udiCallCount] := eCurState; END_IF udiCallCount := udiCallCount + 1; VerifyCertificate := 0; // also tried: VerifyCertificate := eCurState; Wired in via tlsContext.itfCertVerifer := certVerifier at declaration time, alongside itfTLSContext := tlsContext set at TCP_Client's own declaration (per an earlier forum thread here on ensuring inline start-values on FB-typed variables are actually honored when nested one level deep - that fix was needed and worked correctly for getting the handshake to start at all). Observed: - VerifyCertificate is confirmed called exactly once per connection attempt (via the call counter above). - eCurState passed in = 0x709 = ERR_CERT_HAS_EXPIRED - correctly reflecting the actual state of the peer's certificate. - Packet capture confirms the full TLS 1.2 handshake completes correctly at the wire level: ClientHello -> ServerHello -> Certificate -> ServerKeyExchange -> ServerHelloDone -> our ClientKeyExchange/ChangeCipherSpec/Finished -> server's ChangeCipherSpec/Finished. Both sides successfully complete the cryptographic handshake. - Despite this, TCP_Client.Upgrade() subsequently returns NBS.ERROR.CONNECTION_ERROR, and the connection is torn down with a plain TCP FIN (not a TLS alert) roughly 7-8ms after our side ACKs the server's Finished message. - TCP_Client.eErrorID (inherited from LCon) remains NO_ERROR throughout - the failure is only visible via Upgrade()'s return value. - Returning 0 (ERR_OK/ERR_CERT_OK - confirmed via the CmpErrors2 Interfaces documentation that these are literally the same value) makes no difference. - Echoing eCurState back unchanged (on the theory that this callback might work like mbedTLS's native verify callback, where the incoming state is a flags value to be cleared/modified and returned, rather than paired with a separate fixed "accept" sentinel) also makes no difference. - Identical result across udiVerificationMode := 0, 1, and 2. - Importing the peer's certificate into the runtime's trusted certificate store via cert-import trusted makes no difference either. - With itfCertVerifer left at its default (no custom verifier) and udiVerificationMode := 2, the underlying engine sends its own fatal TLS alert (handshake_failure) immediately after receiving the peer's Certificate message - suggesting built-in validation may reject at the record layer independent of whether a custom verifier is even present. Questions: 1. Is there an additional step required for a custom ICertificateVerifier to actually override an ERR_CERT_HAS_EXPIRED (or more generally, any ERR_CERT_*) rejection, or is certificate validation enforced unconditionally for a CLIENT_SIDE TLSContext regardless of what the verifier returns? 2. Is 0/ERR_OK genuinely the correct "accept" return value for VerifyCertificate, or does it expect something else (a specific bit pattern, a different constant, a value that must be computed from hCert itself)? 3. Is there a supported way to connect to a peer presenting a certificate that is both self-signed and expired, short of the peer issuing a new certificate? Happy to share the full packet captures or additional test combinations if useful. Also worth noting for anyone finding this thread later: a maintained Node-RED library for this same device (node-red-contrib-velux-klf200, forked to handle this exact expired-certificate situation) solves it by disabling built-in TLS validation entirely (rejectUnauthorized: false) and doing fingerprint-based pinning by hand after the handshake completes, rather than relying on a validation callback - which may be the more realistic approach here too if ICertificateVerifier genuinely can't override this class of rejection. Thanks in advance /JĆørgen Disclosure: most of the CODESYS code and this investigation was developed with the help of Claude (Anthropic's AI assistant) - the state machine design, SLIP/checksum implementation, and debugging methodology (including the packet capture analysis) were worked through in an extended back-and-forth with it. Posting here because we've run out of self-serviceable options and this now looks like it needs input from someone with visibility into NBS's actual implementation.
