Yes it is possible. I did it a lot of times using TeamViewer VPN. Unfortunately, TeamViewer VPN only works on Windows. If the remote PLC is a Codesys runtime running on Windows, you should be able to login directly using TeamViewer VPN if it is installed on the PC/PLC. If it is not Windows based, you can still do it but you need to have a Windows based PC acting as a gateway in the middle. In this case you need to enable IP Forwarding on the Windows remote PC (the gateway) and you need to setup the gateway IP address on the PLC to be the address of the Windows PC. Then you need to add a route on your local PC to point to the gateway PC for Codesys communication. I know it may not be detailed enough but I did not want to make a whole tutorial on how to do it. Bottom line, it is possible. I do it all the time.

I managed to find a solution that seems to work reliably. As the VU.Globals.CurrentClient-filter accesses the CURRENTCLIENTID or at least a similar, internal variable it can only be used if called from a certain client (e.g. from a button in a visualization). My solution works by implementing a new client filter that compares the client ID of all clients to the ID of the last client that was used. The variable containing the data of the last client is defined as: G_LastClient : VU.IVisualizationClient; // Copy of last client that detected click This last client is then updated every time a button is pressed using the Execute ST-Code input configuration of the button: G_LastClient := VU.PublicVariables.Clients.Current; Next, I created a function block that implements the client filter interface as so: FUNCTION_BLOCK FB_LastClientFilter IMPLEMENTS VU.IVisualizationClientFilter VAR_INPUT END_VAR VAR_OUTPUT END_VAR VAR END_VAR Then i added a method to the FB called IsAccepted which is used to filter out the client. Thanks for your responses. The close listener sounds like an interesting approach, will have to see what I can do with it. I actually solved it as suggested by sturmghost by setting an enum variable to a certain state as soon as I open a dialog. This way I always know which dialog was opened last.

The individual structures were declared in a separate global variable list on a trial basis. But even this did not change the behavior. A total of 1667 variables are processed in a recipe. A reduction (e.g. saving only the first three drive parameter sets) also brought no change.

Ich würde gerne bestimmt Modbus RTU Slave Adressen auslesen, leider bekomme ich keine Werte vom Bus. Verbindung erfolgt über einen Raspberry mit Modbus RS485 Adapter, welcher erfolgreich verbunden ist. Mit einem IOBroker kann ich die Daten erfolgreich auslesen. In der Modbus_COM_Port => Modbus_Serial_Device habe ich Input Register 4000 %QW und Startadressen auf Input Register 3000, als Variable ein Array[0..2999] of Word, kann aber keine Werte auslesen.

have a look at UNIONs. With a union you are able to write single bytes to the same adress area which belongs to a float variable at the same time. I like to do a lot of convertions belonging to interfaces and fieldbus in this way, f.eg. word / byte swapping etc.

If I do cold reset it holds persistent variable values. But when I close control win gracefully, and opens it again then it does not. Even, it is not saving ret file in application.

Probably the enum from the library doesn't have text support. In that case you need to add your own TextList to the application. In the rectangle you should use the property "dynamic text" to link this object to the textlist which you have created yourself and then link the text index to your enum variable.

Sounds feasible, but how would I create this object so that both applications would use the same instance of it. If this did work, it's still not really the solution I am looking for as it would mean mapping every variable I want to use on the hmi through this object vs I was hopping all the GVL variables would be available.

Hi! I am trying to achieve the same issue. Has there been a solution? I can create the mapping, and map the local variable, but somehow the object does not update. Furthermore, i have an issue where codesys doesn't let me set ReadWrite accesses to the variables in the "Type Mapping" place. The access will simply not be set. Has anyone ran int that issue?

ich meine mich zu erinnern, dass ich schon FB's hatte, die Fehlermeldungen mit löschen des Enable/Execute Bits abgelöscht haben. Dann würde bei dir sobald das Error Bit gesetzt wird, nichts mehr drin stehen. Vielleicht wäre es ein Versuch wert, den String vor dem zurücksetzen des Execute in eine Variable zu speichern, ob dann was drin steht und danach erst ablöschen?

Any reason BIT and BOOL data types are not interchangeable? Trying to make a function which takes a BOOL IN/OUT parameter (Not allowed to use BIT) In the main logic if I make a DINT variable, and want to use each bit on different functions CODESYS will not allow it.

Wow.... I missed this one in the manual - so there is a special syntax to invalidate a reference... Great :) Seems to work. (it's just mentionned in the examples line)... I've always assigned 0 to the variable, with := 0 - like setting a pointer to 0. In theory, that should work as well. Thanks!
