Although I have set in /etc/codesyscontrol/CODESYSControl_User.cfg the [SysFile] PlaceholderFilePath.1=/media/pi, $usb$ PlaceholderFilePath.1.View=1 PlaceholderFilePath.1.Volatile=1 I am not able to copy a file to this directory defined by the placeholder. Neither SysProcess.SysProcessExecuteCommand2 nor SysFileCopy nor FileCopy is working. If I try to copy the same file to /home/pi all is working fine. I also can create and open a different file by using SysFileOpen. I don't understand why the system allows to open (create) and write files into that directory but doesn't allow to copy into it. Obviously there is a rights problem with the USB drive. I have already set the permissions to drwxr-xr-x 2 and the user to pi but without any success. With 3.5.16 I never had such an issue. Is there anybody with some hints how to solve that problem? Cheers, canplum

Which device do you use? Does this have persistent memory (e.g. NVRAM) available? Maybe first ask your PLC vendor about the possibilities and how they advice to use persistent variables? If you have no NVRAM available, CODESYS will store the variables in a file when the device gracefully shuts down. But on an abrupt power failure, this is not possible. If you have no NVRAM and you want to use persistent variables, then consider using a UPS. In this case when the power is lost, the UPS can keep the power on the PLC which then can gracefully shut down. (diff / merge ) My question is 1) Is it possible to convert my project ( only POUs is also fine ) into text file ? How? 2) Would it be better to rewrite all FBD/LD into ST and copy them manually to text files? Thanks.

Using SDO, I can read the EtherCAT mappings and offsets from various registers like 0x1c12, 0x1c13, etc. When I obtain registers mapped in the PDOs and various offsets, I could technically access directly to the statusword, controlword, etc., if they are mapped. I have noticed that on IoDrvEthercatLib.ETCSlave_Diag I can find pointers to the input and output buffers. However, although the input buffer can be easily read by referring to what has been obtained from the SDOs, it is not possible to write to the output buffer, as it is overwritten in each cycle by the data from the IOMapping task. Is there a way, knowing an instance of IoDrvEthercatLib.ETCSlave_Diag, to obtain the pointer to the first data in the IOMapping? The offsets are identical to those of the PDOs, but obviously the data is a copy. For me, the cleanest thing would be to access the pointers on IOMapping, for DS402a devices to retrieve the key data and point them to internal references. I need to know this as, having developed our own motion library, I would like to simplify the initial setup by eliminating unnecessary and nonsensical mappings that can lead users to unnecessary errors. In the current version that we have been using for years, we have to map everything manually. I would like to pass only the slave reference to the FB_init constructors and eliminate the mapping.

Hi all, I am using CoDeSys V3.5 and a soft controller Win V3x64. I am trying to read a modbus slave via Function Blocks and not via the channels of the hardware tree for the Slave. I created some requests of type ModbusRequest and I notice that I can read Input Registers and Coils but I can not write Holding Registers and Coils. I am using the library IoDrvModbusTCP 4.1.0.0. When i just use a single modbus request with FC06 (or FC16), there is no request sent to the slave and although the xExecute takes its true value from a pulse of 2 seconds duration, I take almost every 3 minutes an error "TCP_COMMUNICATION_ERROR - 16#A5 - TCP Port. error. Request was not sent". My code is ok because if i change the function code for reading registers, everything works fine. Did anyone have this issue in the past? Thank you in advance.

Update: This initial issue was when using a Linux target PLC. Since then I have created a Win10 target PC and the Codesys software reported an issue associated with the device version (see attached). I am assuming this is an incompatibility with the xml file from the manufacturer and the firmware version on the module and I am chasing this up with Beckhoff. Question is, why would this not report with a Linux target?

Hi micik, I am not sure I am using well the code, because I checked the directory and there is no retains.ret file. Now I deleted the code from my project and the values are still works as persistant variables after ssh reboot it seems to me they retain as their previous value. So I am a bit confused, maybe 4.12.0.0 Raspberry Pi SL solved the persitent variable problem...

just now i have tried loading the achive file from today at work. using 3.5.20.4 same as at work. when i open the project it says " prject inspection, this project has been saved with a different version(codesys v3.5 sp20 patch 4).? one option in the above "project inspection" window just wants to download that same version again. the other option leads no where as it say the required add ons cant be resolved. just end up going around in circles.

We are connected IFM CR711S to Exor EX710. We are exchanging data using network variables. Both devices are configured on same project so no need to use file source. When tested application it works fine. But after 3 months same application not working. We are able to send data from CR711 to EX710 but data from Ex710 to CR711s works only for one scan when we cold reset CR 711S. Can somebody help to find out error.

I got the shared memory example. I'm pretty sure I'm successfully created a memory space, CreateResult returns 18. szName:='CodesysDataShare'; hShm := SysSharedMemoryCreate(szName, 0, ADR(uxiSize), ADR(CreateResult)); I'm trying to access this memory with a C# application, but I get "Unable to Find Specified File". I suspect that Codesys and/or Visual Studio code alters the name I choose? When I created a new project in CODESYS using the "Standard Project" template and then added a Visualization, I was receiving the C0138 error during compilation. This issue persisted even with a new, completely empty project. A Quick and Effective Solution (My Method): After many attempts, I solved the problem as follows: From the File -> New Project menu, I selected the "HMI Project" template directly, instead of the "Standard Project" template. After creating the project with this template, I added my POUs, Tasks, and programs (e.g., Ladder, ST). Using this method, the project compiled successfully without any errors. So, my question is: are there any other solutions besides this method?

I'm currently reworking the controls on a cnc press brake and wanted to load various recipes as programs to run. I'm using a 2d array of REALs to store the X and Y coordinates as well as some other program parameters in a recipe. I'd like to store all of the recipes on a computer used as the HMI that way the text files can be edited and uploaded offline. I'm using Automation Directs P2CDS-622 Can this be done through webvisu? If not would a license for Codesys HMI SL on the computer allow me to accomplish this? I've attached the Project File Thanks, Spice

Aim: To make communicate external publisher to the CODESYS by using MQTT protocol. By any chance having reference documents about this implementation please share here. and suggest the process to make it possible.
