Hello, I am new to Codesys and PLC programming in general (please go easy ha!) I'm not looking for code to be written for me just some help and pointing in the right direction. I am writing some code to send commands to a relay based on input values (to put it simply). Quite basic stuff. I have wrote a function block that takes a global variable (Open_command:BOOL) and outputs to another global variable (Opened : BOOL). The function block is simulating a device so I'll eventually get the globals from that. I now need to create multiple versions of this function block/ device (lets say 100) but I need each iteration of that function block to reference it's own relevant global variable. I think that the best way of doing this would be to use arrays, although I could be wrong. I am aware that for up to 100 instances I could very well manually assign everything but that seems rather time consuming and I want a fancier way of doing it. Here is a very basic example of what I am looking to do, please note I have not written this in proper code it's just to show what I mean. Global Variables V[0-100] int Open_command [0-100] Bool Opened [0-100] Bool Function Block var input x : BOOL Var output y : BOOL if x then y = TRUE ELSE y = FALSE The input to my function block will be Open_command, output will be Opened Example code. If V[x] > 10 then Open_command [x] = TRUE ELSE Open_command [x] = FALSE (So when V1 goes above 10 I need Open_command1 = TRUE therefore initiating FB1 output. V2 > 10, open_command2 = True > FB2 output V3 > 10, open_command3 = True > FB3 output ... ... ) What I can't seem to figure out is how to tie all this together, I have read through the codesys documentation and if anything it has confused me more! ha. Hi, Is there a process to restore Persistence Manager files? I have backups of persistence variables used in a machine that is currently operating and tuned and all set points adjusted. There are about 500 persistence variables, they are building another identical machine. I would like to use Persistence Manager files from the first machine in the second also. I have tried copying the files and replacing them on the new RPI but then the Persistence Manager gets errors and then they are all reset to 0 etc I have tried adjusting the times to match. Instead of replacing whole file, I tried just changing the contents inside the file, but still does not work. I may be missing something here, but surely there must be a way to load a backup. Thanks!

Hello, Up until yesterday (2023/11/20) I was able to connect to the PLC remotely with no issues through Edge Gateway. However, today I can see the Edge Gateway online but I can find the PLC even if I do a network scan. Following the same path as janber0206 @ https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/automation_server/thread/e78b11d7e9/, I looked into certificates and found that one of the Trusted publisher certificates has expired earlier today (2023/11/21). Please see image. Questions are: Does it affect the connection to the PLC through Edge Gateway? How do I fix it? Thank you very much in advance!

Hi guys I am trying to run on my laptop Codesys 3.5.19 Control Win x64 where I created a EtherCAT master. I have defined the controler, specified network adapter (my docking station) and everything worked as expected. Later I needed to test it on site (without docking station) so I changed the network adapter by EC master to my laptop network card. After that it shows "Network adapter opened" but no device can be found by scanning and in LOG is saying "SysEthernet: packet could not be sent, error code: -1". Same error with USB network card, but if I switch back to docking station, all is working again... Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Hello everyone, I want to establish communication between my Arduino and my Raspberry Pi via I²C, but I have no idea how to make it work. However, it should work because there are many examples available, although none of them were programmed using Codesys, but rather using Python. My Raspberry Pi will be the master and is supposed to exchange measurement data such as speed and battery capacity with the slave (Arduino). I would be very grateful if someone could help me with my problem. Here is another link that could be helpful. However, I can't find the mentioned libraries

I want to extract each element of an Array. Can someone help me with this. When I use JSONElementToString (part of JSON Utilities SL), I am seeing output as "ARRAY" instead of actual data. Here is the JSON content that I want to read : { "value1Unit": { "units": "M" }, "data": { "stepSize": 300.23, "points": [6,8] } } I would like to read each item of the element "points" i.e. 6 and 8. Hello, I have almost exactly problem already discussed here in this old thread: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Engineering/thread/03af9426eb/ However, this is quite old and I assume not completely relevant. In my case, I use v3.5.20 on windows 11, so Winpcap is no longer supported on newer OS. Also, this hint about adding entry to the .cfg file under ProgramFiles(x86) is also not relevant anymore. I guess, I need to add entry SysEthernet to this .cfg file: C:\ProgramData\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64...\CODESYSControl.cfg like this one: [ComponentManager] Component.1=CmpTargetVisuStub Component.2=CmpWebServer Component.3=CmpWebServerHandlerV3 Component.4=SysCpuMultiCore Component.5=SysReadWriteLock Component.6=SysCpuBreakpoints Component.7=SysPipeWindows Component.8=SysEthernet But I'm not sure about Npcap vs WinpCap. From this array, I need to foram LREAL number, however, because of different endiannes I need to reverse bytes in this array and then copy to a LREAL variable. For this I'm using a loop and it works OK. I wonder if there is a built in function to do this. I have found CAA Memory library but it has functions like reverse bytes in DWORD. Hi Everybody, I'm looking for a simple way of comparing two array of a structure. My structure is define like this : TYPE Positions_T : STRUCT PosX: DINT; PosY: DINT; PosZ: DINT; END_STRUCT END_TYPE I have multiples Var : ARRAY [0..220] OF Positions_T, that I need to compare quickly. I don't really want to do a Loop that goes by every 220 points and compare each one of them so I was wondering if there is another way. I came accross the MEM.Compare function, but it require to know the size in Bytes of the memory, and I don't know how to do that... Has anybody an idea on how to do the comparing easily ? Hi guys, I have been trying to use web browser element in the visualisation to connect with my IP camera. From the past few weeks, I have not been successful of doing it. I thought it would be very easy to just connect to the ip address, but apparantly it is not. I am using WAGO PLC PFC200 and my PC as a webvisu. or else can you guys please advice me on which kind of camera should I use as a CCTV system in my project instead of IP Camera. Ideally, I want multiple web browser elements to browse my IP Cameras in one frame. Kind regards, Jin.

Hi, I have an issue with a function which sends a message through API Rest. I'm using a function from httpCLient library. I have tested this function inside a program and it works fine. But when I want to use it inside a function (so I can call it simultaneously from 2 different points on the main program) it gives a stack overflow error. In detail it says: "C0297 Stack Overflow on Main Task. Stack sizes... Call hierarchy:" I have simplified as much as I can the function, but I'm hitting a wall with this. Anybody has an idea of what's wrong? Thanks!

I included the stub files of scriptengine (codesys python api) in a directory scriptengine of a project. I tried to include librarymanager like that: from scriptengine import librarymanager visual studio code detected an error. It said librarmanager could not be found. Indeed in the stub file, this was library_manager. But if I change it in my code, the plugin doesn t work anymore. I found an easy solution to this problem. I ve just changed the copied stub files.(library_manager -> librarymanager) But I think it would be better if you update it yourself in the future.

Hello, I am trying to get TargetVisu for Linux working but i am having some troubles. The problem is that after installation it is not starting automatically on boot and i cannot start it from the update Targetvisu tool. When i try i get the following error (see attached screenshot) The file /opt/codesysvisualization/scripts/codesysvisualization_start.sh is missing... Steps performed: - installed fresh Debian 12.7 on virtual machine - installed all required libraries as described here: https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Control/_rtsl_target_visu_for_linux.html - then installed the TargetVisu for Linux SL 4.13.0.0 using the Codesys IDE Does someone know how i can fix this? Looking at the help (https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_st_instruction_case.html). I don't think it is possible but I figured I'd ask. I'm looking at have a case that evaluates two variables, instead of having multiple If Else statements I was hoping I could just use a case. Example * Case Var1 & Var 2 of 10 & 10: Instruction Code 10 & 20: Instruction Code 20 & 20: Instruction Code End_Case Obviously I tried typing as noted above and Codesys threw an error. But I was wondering if there was a different way of programming to make something like this work? If not I'll just use a bunch of If Else Statements, Thanks.

I explain the secuence: I have click in my project the option AUTOMATICALLY RESTARSLAVES In the moment start my Ipc, the network ethercat start correctly I disconnect the wire of my first slave and later connect again the wire..(see the screen Bug Codesys restart slave1) NO work the restart automatic slaves...and is not possible execute of FB MC_REset beacuause appear this error (see the screen Bug Codesys restart slave2) The only way for resolver this problem is execute the FB SMC3ReinitDrive I replay the same with PLC BECKHOFF in Twincat3 and I havent this problem...In the moment connect the wire again in the slave the comunication of ehterCat restart and the slave comunication again with out problem

I couldn't exactly solve the file transfer when I wanted to do multiple transfers while the compiler was open in a way that I couldn't understand. Notification from target: runtime received SIGABRT - system may be in an inconsistent state * We recommend a reboot of the controller now! * details of the target component that sent this notification: [CmpName=SysExcept, CmpId=0x00000103, ClassID=0X0001008, ErrorID=0X00000001, InfoID= 0X0000000j] I see the warning. I couldn't find out why error code 4 is coming or what kind of measures I need to take to prevent it from coming within the application. Can you help me? regards Emre OZUPEK

I have a WAGO PLC, to which I am establishing a connection. Here I use the autodiscover to register the connected modules. Now, I have tested the in-/outputs of the different modules, to verify they are consistent with how they are physically connected to the PLC in regards to how CODESYS has numbered them. Will CODESYS always number the modules closest to the PLC itself lowest, and the one furthest away, the highest? I am rather new to the program, so I both hope my question makes sense, as well as not being completely obvious. Thanks!

Hi all I found that in the last Ethercat master release (4.8.0.0) the Mailbox Gateway feature has been added. This would be useful for me to connect to a specific slave in my system, since its configuration software supports this type of gateway communication. Anyway I don't find usage information or examples. At the moment I tried to enable it in the ethercat master device settings and I configured with an IP address on the subnet of the ethercat adapter (i.e. ethercat nic configured with static ip 192.168.10.100 subnet 255.255.255.0, mailbox gateway configured to 192.168.10.30). I expected it would have responded to ping commands on the address but nothing happens. I am missing something?

Hello, Maybe someone could help with this. When I add ENUM to a text field I get the number instead of the text. For my own ENUM variable I have declared and enabled text list value is displayed as text, but I need enum text displayed from softMotion and other internal FB's. In the picture I have one of desired ENUM variable setup, but in the visu I have number, but in the watch window it's text. There is probably some checkbox to tick, but was looking for an hour, can't find a solution. Would apreciate some help

Sorry if this has been asked before, but I can't seem to locate a thread that leads me answers. I am running two RTE x64 softPLCs, one on the host machine and a second via a VM. I have managed to finally get both to a position that they see each other, but they are in standalone mode instead of an active/passive state for failover (image attached). Every attempt to sync via the button fails. There is probably some step or option that I have missed in my bumbling through this learning process, but for the life of me I can't seem to figure it out. Anyone got any suggestions what I need to look at to get this into an active/passive redundancy state?
