Post by etienneneu on loading delay with the option "check client animations and overlay of native elements" CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hey NicolaG_89, thanks for the tip. But I have seen in the developer tools of the Webclient that a multiple fetching of the image and script data occurs when changing frames (HTTP code 304 NOT Modified), although these are already in the clients cache, which leads to unnecessary loading of resources from the web server. This behavior can also be found if the option “Support client animations and overlay of native elements” is deactivated, but this does not lead to such long delays. I had already tested loading all Visu elements so that everything was fetched once before they could be used. But that didn't help either. To prevent this behavior (permanent fetching), I have used a different way of switching the Visu elements in the VisuDemo Project, which also uses HTML5 control elements. I implemented this with the visibility of entire Visu elements. As a result, it only has to be fetched once and does not have to be fetched again when reloading. But I am still unsure about this implementation if the scope of the visualization becomes larger, as the Codesys visualization documentation advises against using many invisible elements. Best regards Etienne

Post by edvard-munch on How I can get "Done flag" for "Modbus Slave Channel"? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
This is from 10 years ago, I know. But I have been using (SLAVE_DEVICE.iChannelIndex = CHANNEL_NUMBER) AND (SLAVE_DEVICE.xDone) I suppose that it shows xDone for the channel that shows up in the iChannelIndex at the same cycle? It seems to be working properly for two devices that I have been using it before But now I have another device and using two write channels, for one register each. One channel works properly and returns DONE flag When another channel is triggered, I see that it shows up in iChannelIndex, but flag DONE not received, but no Error for the channel. Also, when i check the register in the device it's evident that data has been transferred. Is this could happen sometimes with CODESYS, so DONE flag not received? Or this is a problem with a given device? With this certain register

Post by bertcom on STRING conversions to DWORD CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Good afternoon. I want to communicate with a Domino Industrial Printer using its Codenet protocol. The printer wants a series of Hexadecimal characters with no spaces or '00' characters. Because of that i chose the option to make the prefix and subfix for my code in a string. I have variable data in another string. With a complete program of a lot of CONCAT functions i eventually get the format of code that the printer accepts ( tested it with the hercules tool). Hercules String : 1B4F513030311B7532626C61636B04 The problem is : Codesys adds automatically 'code' to the code to show it is a string. Codesys string : '1B4F513030311B7532626C61636B04' The printer does not understand this. My idea is to convert the string datatype to an LWORD. I have no idea how to do this. I random types in STRING_TO_DWORD, as return i get 0. That didn't worked. Also on internet the explenations around string converting in codesys are very limited. If there in anyone who can explain me how to do it, i would appreciate it a lot ! Thank you!

Post by fabiodasilveira on PLC Shell commands via ST Code CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello Everybody, I have created a project for an Eaton XC303 that sends lots of data to a router via UDP. It works fine. However, when there is more than one product connected to the router, then it is necessary to change the IP address of the Ethernet port 0, from e.g. 192.168.2.11 to 192.168.2.12 (second product). It is easily done via PLC Shell (setipaddr 0 192.168.2.12), but the people in production is struggling with the PLC Shell commands and I would like to create a Visualization page that will hide that. I used the instruction: eChangeIPResult:= SysSockSetIPAddress(strEthernetPort, strIPAddress); and it works, until the PLC resets. I already read some posts and it appears that I need to stop the Ethernet 0 port and Reconfigure it, but I am really struggling to find the right way to do it. Any help will be much appreciated.

Post by pistola on C0357: "GetNextClient" is obsolete, use VisuUtils instead CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I'm having some troubles with this same issue and I'm wondering if someone can help me out. On a settings visual I allow the operator to enter some values however if they activate the page change button it will change the change with the Numpad dialog open. Since I'm using Visuelems.CURRENTVISU to change the pages I came across this code noted below for determining if the Numpad dialog was active. This code worked great however now in 3.5.19 it's now obsolete. I've tried following the directions in the attached program above however I can't see to get it to work in my program. Can anyone provide some help to determine if a dialog is open? FUNCTION Check_Dialog_Open : Bool VAR_INPUT sDialogName : STRING; // Input variable for the name of the dialog END_VAR VAR pstClientData : POINTER TO VisuElems.VisuStructClientData; // Pointer to the client data structure itfDialogManager : VisuElems.IDialogManager; // Interface for the dialog manager itfMyDialog : VisuElems.IVisualisationDialog; // Interface for the specific visualisation dialog END_VAR // Begin the iteration over the client manager VisuElems.g_ClientManager.BeginIteration(); // Loop through each client until no more clients are found WHILE (pstClientData := VisuElems.VisuElemBase.g_ClientManager.GetNextClient()) <> 0 DO // Get the dialog manager interface itfDialogManager := VisuElems.g_VisuManager.GetDialogManager(); // Get the specific dialog interface using the dialog name itfMyDialog := itfDialogManager.GetDialog(sDialogName); // Check if the dialog is open for the current client Check_Dialog_Open := VisuDialogs.VisuDlgUtil_IsDialogOpen(itfMyDialog, pstClientData, itfDialogManager); // If the dialog is open, exit the loop IF Check_Dialog_Open THEN EXIT; END_IF END_WHILE

Post by macman on Codesys 3.5 OPC UA Client to Kepware OPC UA Server CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, I have problem with connecting Wago PLC WAGO 750-8212/0025-0002 configured as OPC UA client to Kepware OPC UA Server. I am using Codesys 3.5.19.70. What I did so far. To the Codesys project I added object Data Source Manager and configured connection OPC UA like below: pic 1 Then I can browse the OPC server tags in “Variables” tab after prior trust on the server side of the client certificate created in the “Communication” tab: pic 2 Additionally second certificate has been created in Codesys for runtime process in “Security screen” as well as the server certificate was approved here: pic 3 But when I compiled project, downloaded it to PLC and go to RUN I can’t read selected in “Variables” tab, OPC Server tags. I am getting such error (ID: 7001): pic 4 All two PLC certificates has been trusted in OPC server (Kepware) side: pic 5 and Kepware server configuration look like this: pic 6 I can easily connect using third party OPC UA client UaExpert to Kepware server without problem. In attachment I added also log from Kepware OPC UA server. pic # - this specifies the number of a concrete graphic from one of the collective in attachment

Post by pernockham on Engineering IDE from linux? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I have done the switch (linux mint, virtual windows through QEMU/KVM) now and is generally pleased. Have had problems in two areas initially. To bridge IP to the Virtual unit (solved), I overthought things initially. Solution. Configure manually a bridge in the mint-"network connections". Use that bridge in the Qemu settings as "Bridge device", "Device name": "name of the configured bridge" Figure out where to store the projects. I started out have the data in linux world (sort of) and linking it the windows with "virtio-fs". That had some serious impact though on git-handling. It seems that virtio-fs interpreted any file-path as lowercase only even if there were uppercase, resulting in git not able to sync files between its repository and the source code (it created a new file-path for me with only lowercase). Then I switch to samba-share instead and this works much better, though (git-actions) is a part that still has low performance with lots of waiting for file-actions. What should be the best way of handling the source/git? Edit to answer myself: Save the project "locally" in windows, then a lot of slow performance is avoided. Then a git-remote sync for backup.

Post by rene-h on ClientFilter used the same Client ID 2 times - Bug? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, like the topic name says, i have a problem on one Visu which i cannot reproduce on another Visu. We filter buttons with input locks and visible items with [CURRENTCLIENTID] on different WebVisu's with different ID's, and one time the itfClient used the same Client ID for 2 Clients, so the Visualization on the first ID was wrong, because that one which connected after did not have the same permissions like the first, so the first one was blocked. We read the Clients with the VisuClientIteration project: //count active clients gCli.iNumberOfClients:=gCli.iNumberOfClients+1; // if client is active write data to global struct IF gCli.iNumberOfClients > 0 THEN gCli.astClientInfo[gCli.iNumberOfClients-1].iClientID:=itfClient.ClientId ; gCli.astClientInfo[gCli.iNumberOfClients-1].stCurrentVisu:=itfClient.CurrentVisuName; gCli.astClientInfo[gCli.iNumberOfClients-1].wsUserName:=itfClient.UserName; gCli.astClientInfo[gCli.iNumberOfClients-1].sIpAddress:=itfClient.GetIPv4Address(); gCli.astClientInfo[gCli.iNumberOfClients-1].ClientType:=itfClient.ClientType; END_IF Runtime from the device: 3.5.19.20 Codesys we use: 3.5.20.10 I added a screenshot where the same ID exists 2 times. Thanks for your answers.

Post by shaunvdm on Canbus Slave SDO Read from Object CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Busy testing a solution to use Canbus Slave to replace a physical device and convert to Ethercat device but keep the Canbus Master in place. Master needs to Read SDO object 5FA2. In the Master PLC if i send the SDO with 8 bytes in message IE: 60B 40 A2 5F 00 00 00 00 00 i get my expected 58B 43 A2 5F 00 00 68 36 02 containing data back. Problem is if we issue a 4 byte command can send 60B 40 A2 5F. Surely the canbus slave should respond with a 58B 43 A2 5F 00 00 68 36 02 but it comes back as 80 A2 5F 00 00 00 00 08 - meaning this OBJECT does not exist. Is there a setting in the canbus slave driver for Canbus to allow the 4 byte command to read the SDO OBJECTS ?

Post by thewizard8 on Raspberry PI4 Serial Port CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi Dear All, I'm using my raspberry PI4 as a CoDeSyS PLC (Build from scratch with custom electronics). I was able to implement all fieldbuses with the exception of Modbus Serial. I'm using the internal Port (GPIO) and I configured it in /etc/Codesyscontrol_user.cfg the following away: [SysCom] Linux.Devicefile.1=/dev/ttyUSB0 Linux.Devicefile.2=/dev/ttyS0 I'm using COM2 on Master configuration. I'm using a interface board from TTL/RS485 (bidirectional board), and it's works perfectly with other devices but not in CoDeSyS. I'm able to send data with python script and read it on my pc using putty, but when I use a modbus slave simulator to interface with codesys I always get red icons on master and slave. (Please find image attached). I'm pretty shure that this might be a bad parameter on my CoDeSyS runtime configurstion file. Can someone help me? I'm stuck and this is for my master degree certification.

Post by paro on Modbus Client Request Not Processed CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, Problem in your code is that you are not calling the ClientFb cyclic. Please look at the Example from CODESYS: https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/modbus/home/Home/ Your code works if the client fb is called cyclic! IF NOT initDone THEN initDone := TRUE; // configure clientTcp clientTcp(aIPaddr:=Ethernet.IPAddress, uiPort:=502); // configure clientSerial clientSerial(iPort:=SysCom.SYS_COMPORT2, dwBaudRate:=SysCom.SYS_BR_115200, byDataBits:=8, eParity:=SysCom.SYS_EVENPARITY, eStopBits:=SysCom.SYS_ONESTOPBIT, eRtuAscii:=ModbusFB.RtuAscii.RTU); // configure clientRequestReadCoils_1 clientRequestReadCoils_1(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=42, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); // configure clientRequestWriteSingleRegister clientRequestWriteSingleRegister(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=43, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); // configure clientRequestReadCoils_2 clientRequestReadCoils_2(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=44, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); // configure clientRequestReadInputRegisters clientRequestReadInputRegisters(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=44, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); END_IF // call the client FB's clientTcp(); clientSerial(); // call client request FB's clientRequestReadCoils_1(rClient:=clientTcp, xExecute:=TRUE, uiStartItem:=2, uiQuantity:=3, pData:=ADR(aDataCoils_1[0])); // for more details see Example_TCP, especially ClientRequest control (xExecute, xDone, xError). IF clientRequestReadCoils_1.xDone THEN // get data from aDataCoils_1 ... END_IF clientRequestWriteSingleRegister(rClient:=clientTcp, xExecute:=TRUE, uiItem:=3, uiValue:=123); clientRequestReadCoils_2(rClient:=clientTcp, xExecute:=TRUE, uiStartItem:=2, uiQuantity:=3, pData:=ADR(aDataCoils_2[0])); clientRequestReadInputRegisters(rClient:=clientTcp, xExecute:=TRUE, uiStartItem:=16, uiQuantity:=3, pData:=ADR(aDataInputRegisters[0]));

Post by cmj-icsys on Custom configure tab in device editor CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi everyone, I’m developing a custom CODESYS I/O driver for my company’s device, and I’ve been studying the example projects in CODESYS V3.5 SP20 Patch 5. In the IOMappingExample.project, I noticed that EtherCAT devices provide additional configuration tabs in the Device Editor, such as General, Process Data, etc. However, for custom I/O driver examples (based on IoDrv), the Device Editor only shows the default tabs like <devicename> I/O Mapping or <devicename> Parameters.</devicename></devicename> I’d like to create custom tabs or configuration pages in the Device Editor (e.g., “General Settings”, “Communication”, etc.) to allow users to configure parameters in a more structured way. Could anyone explain: How to define and register custom tabs or UI pages in the Device Editor? What tools or SDKs are needed to create UI elements such as combo boxes or check boxes? How to bind those UI controls to device parameters defined in the XML (device description)? Any example, SDK reference, or documentation link would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

Frohe Ostern!

Post by kurtk on SysProcess Execute Command unable to run commands with special characters CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Thank you for this additional information. Could you please provide the references to the official documentation where you found this information ? I got as far as: Then insert this: [SysProcess] BasePriority=Realtime Command=AllowAll devoid of references of where the CodesysContol.cfg file was located or of the need to run codesys as root I incrementally located bits of information with perplexity searches but remained mired at error 25 ERR_NO_ACCESS I am curious whether root access is MANDATORY to run SysProcessExecuteCommand (- and/or any other SysProcess functions) or if a more access-constrained User=quasiroot could suffice without the security concerns ? Apparently codesys runs fine without User=root for almost everything... That raises the question: What IS the default codesys user ? I notice in the prototypes: VAR sCommand : STRING := '/usr/bin/whoami'; sOutput : STRING(255); refCommand : REFERENCE TO STRING; refOutput : REFERENCE TO STRING; resultCmd : UDINT; END_VAR whenever I attempt to build this Codesys v3.5 SP2 whines that "cannot convert type REFERENCE TO STRING to STRING" don't remember the exact message... Apparently this happens whenever a fixed-length string is involved. if I get rid of (255) and just set the string := ' '; that is sufficient to make the compiler happy. Is this a recently enforced constraint ? Why does this compile for you and not for me ? There are references to functions / utilities which are used/needed to massage the string references - but I see no specific details... I also notice you specify: Make sure the lib SysProcessImplementation, SysTypes, and CmpErrors is on the project. I don't comprehend why all of the dependent libraries are not automatically referenced, added ? I don't recall seeing anywhere but here that SysProcessImplementation must be included... It just seems odd that the default is to exclude essential libraries, or require alchemical conjuring to assemble all the ingredients for gnat soup ;-) Thanks a lot... I'm still a codesys newby getting my wheels on - or sometimes just partially on

Post by struccc on Backtick identifiers CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Important: ` - Backtick - ASCII 96 ' - Apostrophe or Single Quote - ASCII 39 In the online help for some reason it renders ’ ... The only issue I don't get, why identifiers are still case-insensitive, even within `backtricks`? `mPa` and `MPa` for milli-, mega Pascal are the same identifiers, unfortunately... Is this a bug or a feature? Otherwise can do pretty nasty things with it: // A practical (?) I had this code working in a previous version of CoDeSys to read variables from a GVL that were added to the Symbol configuration. The problem now is that when I get the _IBaseTreeNode_Parent, it returns a valid interface, but none of the methods or properties work. If you monitor the _IBaseTreeNode in the watch window, it does show the correct child count. However, it fails at step 30, where the child count incorrectly returns zero. In the image, you can see that the watch window displays the correct value that the property should return. Attached is the full project code. Post by r-niedermayer on OPC UA subscriber not operational CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi. As far as projects in "old version"s are concerned, these can be upgraded to newer versions at any time. To do this, the device must be updated accordingly and the copilers and library versions must be adapted. You can find instructions on how to proceed in the online help/FAQ: https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_changing_compiler_version.html https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_cmd_update_device.html See also 4.3.22.4 "How to open an Example Project" within the following pdf for more details on the single steps: https://forge.codesys.com/lib/counit/tickets/_discuss/thread/3e991befbc/ca97/attachment/Public%20FAQ-v13-20240610_075228.pdf Regaring your OPCUA connection state always showing just "DISABLED", without knowing both sides of the assembly in detail, one can only approach the problem theoretically. We can give a chekclist on how to proceed: Fist, please recheck the communication settings in the OPC UA connection function block to ensure that the server URL, endpoint URL, and other settings are correct and match the configuration of the OPC UA server. Verify that the OPC UA server is running and accessible. -You can try to connect to the OPC UA server using a separate client, such as UAExpert, to ensure that the issue is not related to the OPC UA server itself. Test the security settings in the OPC UA connection function block to ensure that the correct security policy and certificate are selected. If you are using a dynamic connection to the OPC UA server, probe that the connection settings are correctly configured and that the OPC UA client is able to establish a connection to the OPC UA server. Also, please loock into the log files for any errors related to the OPC UA connection function block, these should be listet there. The log files may also provide additional information about the issue and help you to further troubleshoot the problem. FYI - Please see https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Communication/_cds_obj_data_source_communication_opc_ua_server.html: Her you can finde the Communication settings via OPC UA Server -> layout Browse Live Server: The client connects to the server and detects the existing variables and types. From Information Model The client reads the data structure (layout) of the OPC UA Server from the information model set here and as a result receives the information about available variables and types. A connection to the server is not required. The list contains the information models installed in the OPC UA Information Model Repository. "Read Connection" Settings from IEC Variable (option set): - The connection settings used by the device are not read here from the dialog, but at runtime from the IEC variable specified here. - For this possibility, please see the Using a Dynamic Connection to an OPC UA Server (https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Communication/_comm_use_dynamic_opc_ua_server_comm_settings.html) The settings for the communication of a Client-data source to an OPC UA Server can also be dynamically configured from the IEC code and can also be changed at runtime. For such a purpose, a structure is available in the DatasourceOpcUAServer library (For a description of the OPC UA Server, there is one included in the standard installation of CODESYS, https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Communication/_cds_encrypt_communication_data_sources_opc_ua_client.html)

Post by manuknecht on Opening a Dialog on a specific Client from ST CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I managed to find a solution that seems to work reliably. As the VU.Globals.CurrentClient-filter accesses the CURRENTCLIENTID or at least a similar, internal variable it can only be used if called from a certain client (e.g. from a button in a visualization). My solution works by implementing a new client filter that compares the client ID of all clients to the ID of the last client that was used. The variable containing the data of the last client is defined as: G_LastClient : VU.IVisualizationClient; // Copy of last client that detected click This last client is then updated every time a button is pressed using the Execute ST-Code input configuration of the button: G_LastClient := VU.PublicVariables.Clients.Current; Next, I created a function block that implements the client filter interface as so: FUNCTION_BLOCK FB_LastClientFilter IMPLEMENTS VU.IVisualizationClientFilter VAR_INPUT END_VAR VAR_OUTPUT END_VAR VAR END_VAR Then i added a method to the FB called IsAccepted which is used to filter out the client. When creating the method, it should automatically be filled with the according variable declaration, as it is defined in the interface: (* For every client can be desided, if it is accepted. ``TRUE``: Client is accepted*) METHOD IsAccepted : BOOL VAR_INPUT (* The client, to check*) itfClient : VU.IVisualizationClient; END_VAR Now the client can be compared to the last used client as such: // check if clientID corresponds to clientID of last recorderd client IF itfCLient.ClientId = G_LastClient.ClientId THEN IsAccepted := TRUE; ELSE IsAccepted := FALSE; END_IF To make use of this custom client filter, initialize a variable with the client filter: LastClient : FB_LastClientFilter; // Client filter to find last used client Then use this client filter when opening or closing a dialog from ST: fbOpenMyDialog(itfClientFilter:=LastClient,xExecute:=TRUE,sDialogName:='VIS_MyDialog_DLG');

Post by rajatdas2005 on Codesys Virtual control SL CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Dear All, This is regarding Codesys Virtual control SL demo version. I am facing one issue. First I will describe the steps what I have followed till now. 1. In a PC I have Windows OS. Here Codesys IDE is installed, and also using the installer option of IDE I have also installed Codesys Virtual control SL. 2. A edge-gateway is also running in the same windows PC as local host. 3. Next I have a seperate PC with Ubuntu OS with docker installed. This machine is in the same network. 4. Now I have created a project in Windows machine using device "Codesys Virtual control SL". 5. In the Ubuntu machine I am running the Codesys Virtual control SL as docker and it is using the ubuntu machine network only. 6. Next using the localhost edge-gateway when I am searching the virtual control SL docker it is able to detect it. (screenshot attached) 7. But after creating the creadentials it is telling No Device is responding. 8. I have also checked the wireshark logs and able to see that in destination port 11740 data is coming. 9. From windows PC telnet ip 11740 is also working. 10. Ping is also working ===========================================LOGS ========================= sudo ss -tlnp | grep -E "(443|1217|4840|8080|11740)" LISTEN 0 10 10.135.114.142:4840 0.0.0.0: users:(("codesyscontrol.",pid=41864,fd=21)) LISTEN 0 10 172.18.0.1:4840 0.0.0.0: users:(("codesyscontrol.",pid=41864,fd=24)) LISTEN 0 10 172.17.0.1:4840 0.0.0.0: users:(("codesyscontrol.",pid=41864,fd=23)) LISTEN 0 10 127.0.0.1:4840 0.0.0.0: users:(("codesyscontrol.",pid=41864,fd=26)) LISTEN 0 10 192.168.122.1:4840 0.0.0.0: users:(("codesyscontrol.",pid=41864,fd=22)) LISTEN 0 5 0.0.0.0:11740 0.0.0.0: users:(("codesyscontrol.",pid=41864,fd=20)) LISTEN 0 128 0.0.0.0:8080 0.0.0.0: users:(("python3",pid=1280,fd=4)) LISTEN 0 10 172.19.0.1:4840 0.0.0.0: users:(("codesyscontrol.",pid=41864,fd=25))

Post by artplc on 3.5 P20 hangs - no response CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Subject: Solution: CODESYS Freezes Linked to Large Symbol Configuration (OPC UA) Hello everyone, I was experiencing the same problem as many here: CODESYS (v3.5 SP20+) freezing during compilation and download, especially on projects that use OPC UA for SCADA. The only workaround was to run Build > Clean all before every download. I believe I have found the root cause and a permanent solution. The Problem: The issue is directly related to a large Symbol Configuration. In my project, I only need about 700 tags for OPC UA, but the Symbol Configuration list was showing over 250,000 tags. This is because it automatically includes all variables from Global Variable Lists (GVLs) and other memory areas. When any static variable is changed, the IDE tries to rebuild this enormous list, causing it to freeze for several minutes. The Solution: Instead of letting CODESYS export every variable by default, you can use a pragma to tell it which variables or GVLs to exclude from the symbol export process. Place the following pragma at the top of any GVL or data structure that you do not want to be part of the symbol configuration: 1 {attribute 'symbol' := 'none'} 2 VAR_GLOBAL 3 // All variables in this GVL will now be excluded from the 4 // Symbol Configuration by default. 5 InternalVariable1 : INT; 6 InternalVariable2 : BOOL; 7 END_VAR After adding this pragma to all the GVLs that were not needed for OPC UA, the number of tags in my Symbol Configuration dropped to the correct amount. The compilation and download process is now fast again, with no freezing. This method is much more efficient than manually managing the symbol list in the editor. I hope this helps others who are facing this frustrating issue. Best regards.

Post by duvanmoreno24 on Modbus writing on value change CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi all, I want to know if someone has an idea of how I can write on value change in Modbus Codesys. I have a Wago PLC and I was used to work with E-cockpit which it was quite easy to do that without the necessity to trigger any value when there was a change in the variable ( I will put how easy is ). how you can see just changing the trigger in "On value Change" will do that channel writing automatically when It detects a change in those arrays. On the other hand, in Codesys if I enable the rising edge in Codesys It ask me to put a bool variable and if triggers is going to write that value. That is making me that I have to create a function or a logic to detect the change, the problem I have is that doing that is very tedious. I first approach I got it was to create a Function who returns a bool when the value change, but I tried to keep the old value but what is happening is that in Functions all the data is erased every cycle so I can not keep any Old value. so in the Main program the trigger is going to be TRUE all the time due, the old value is cero every cycle. The second approach I got it was using a function Block (POU_1) and it works but I dont want to instance that function for every Channel or value that I want to check if the value change, Basically if I have 200 values to write trhough modbus I have to create 200 instances of that function which I think it is not practicall at all. It should be a better way to implement this as e-Cockpit from Wago Does. However, I haven't been able to know how.

Post by darko7417 on When running as a service, CodesysControl doesn't write log files to the disk (and other CmpLog related issuess) CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I run CODESYS runtime as a service and use CmpLog (the LogAdd2 function) to log different events to a file. I have done this many times before on various projects and hardware, and it works fine. On this particular system, I have CODESYS 3.5.20.40 running on a Windows 11 PC. The CODESYSControlService autostarts (with Local System credentials, the default), and the application runs fine. However, the configuration file is not read (or at least not the one that should be, or not the CmpLog section), and log files are not written to the disk. I would be thankful if anyone knew why this is happening and how to fix it. A note to CODESYS people: you must provide more information on the codesys configuration file, CODESYSControlService.exe and other major components and system behaviour. You created the service and various features (i.e. logging), but haven't explained how they work, which, in my opinion, is below standard for industrial automation software. These are my observations: - When running as a service, the config file is not read (none of them), or at least the CmpLog section is not read. I checked the log using Codesys IDE, and the CmpLog parameters are not the ones I have set in any of the config files. Which CmpLog config values does the service use, and where does it read them from? I have no idea, but it's not the config files. Here are the codesys config files I located on the PC's disk: o C:\Program Files (x86)\CODESYS 3.5.20.40\GatewayPLC\CODESYSControl.cfg (only 2 lines in this config) o C:\Program Files (x86)\CODESYS 3.5.20.40\GatewayPLC\AppDataFiles\CODESYSControlWinV3\CODESYSControl.cfg o C:\Users\SRV\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3\C4DBB537\CODESYSControl.cfg o C:\Program Files (x86)\CODESYS 3.5.20.40\GatewayPLC\tempCFG\CODESYSControl.cfg - When I run codesys as an app (e.g. by clicking the icon), this config file is read C:\Users\SRV\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3\C4DBB537\CODESYSControl.cfg and log files are written ok. The icon target is "C:\Program Files (x86)\CODESYS 3.5.20.40\GatewayPLC\CODESYSControlService.exe" -d o the -d option, I think, starts a cmd-like window showing service debug output (the output shown in log in the IDE) o the -i option, again I think, means install the service - I tried adding -d to service start parameters in the registry, but it started only once and after that it refused to start. Knowing what -d does and which other options are available would be great (e.g. can I make the service read a different config file). - Syslog UDP logging works fine in any case. - These are my CmpLog parameters ~~~ [CmpLog] Logger.0.Name=PlcLog3 Logger.0.Filter=0xFFFFFFFF Logger.0.Enable=1 Logger.0.MaxEntries=10003 Logger.0.MaxFileSize=50003 Logger.0.MaxFiles=33 Logger.0.Backend.0.ClassId=0x0000010B ;sends logger messages to SysOut Logger.0.Backend.1.ClassId=0x00000104 ;writes logger messages in a file Logger.0.Backend.2.ClassId=0x00000135 ;sends logger messages as UDP syslog Logger.0.Type=0x314 ;Set the timestamp to RTC ~~~

Post by scoob on ModbusFB - Slow Response Time CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I have been trying to use the ModbusFB functions so I can put some code into libraries, but it seems to be very slow for me. I have a Modbus device with 100ms registers. I previously setup 10 channels in the 'traditional' Modbus Slave with channels and mappings - and set a cyclic trigger at 100ms - this worked fine. I then tried the ModbusFB example, and setup reading the same 10 blocks of modbus addresses, copying the example and putting all of the requests into an array and triggering the requests sequentially. I timed how long the requests are taking to get round to each one, and it is around 1s 450ms. How do I speed this up to match the cyclic time? IF NOT(init) THEN init := TRUE; // Set the required IP address: ipAddress[0] := 192; ipAddress[1] := 168; ipAddress[2] := 1; ipAddress[3] := 10; // Pass the required IP address to the clinet FB: client_NetworkSwitch.aIPaddr := ipAddress; client_NetworkSwitch.udiLogOptions := (ModbusFB.LoggingOptions.ClientConnectDisconnect OR ModbusFB.LoggingOptions.ClientReceivedValidReplies); // Try to connect the client client_NetworkSwitch(xConnect:=TRUE); // Configure all the channels to read connecting them to the client: portStatus_Request(rClient := client_NetworkSwitch, uiStartItem := 4096, uiQuantity := 32, pData := ADR(portStatus), udiReplyTimeout := udiReplyTimeout); portSpeed_Request(rClient := client_NetworkSwitch, uiStartItem := 4352, uiQuantity := 32, pData := ADR(portSpeed)); flowControl_Request(rClient := client_NetworkSwitch, uiStartItem := 4608, uiQuantity := 32, pData := ADR(flowControl)); linkUpCounter_Request(rClient := client_NetworkSwitch, uiStartItem := 5888, uiQuantity := 32, pData := ADR(linkUpCounter)); txPacketCounter1_Request(rClient := client_NetworkSwitch, uiStartItem := 8192, uiQuantity := 100, pData := ADR(txPacketCounter1)); txPacketCounter2_Request(rClient := client_NetworkSwitch, uiStartItem := 8292, uiQuantity := 28, pData := ADR(txPacketCounter2)); rxPacketCounter1_Request(rClient := client_NetworkSwitch, uiStartItem := 8448, uiQuantity := 100, pData := ADR(rxPacketCounter1)); rxPacketCounter2_Request(rClient := client_NetworkSwitch, uiStartItem := 8548, uiQuantity := 28, pData := ADR(rxPacketCounter2)); txErrors_Request(rClient := client_NetworkSwitch, uiStartItem := 8704, uiQuantity := 64, pData := ADR(txErrors)); rxErrors_Request(rClient := client_NetworkSwitch, uiStartItem := 8960, uiQuantity := 64, pData := ADR(rxErrors)); // Trigger all client requests initially FOR clientRequestsCnt := 0 TO (SIZEOF(clientRequests)/SIZEOF(clientRequests[0]))-1 DO pClientRequest := clientRequests[clientRequestsCnt]; pClientRequest^.xExecute := TRUE; END_FOR // Prepare sequential trigger / control of client requests. clientRequestsCnt := 0; pClientRequest := clientRequests[clientRequestsCnt]; END_IF // Call the client to do request processing: client_NetworkSwitch(); // Now we trigger client request sequentially ... IF NOT pClientRequest^.xExecute AND NOT pClientRequest^.xDone AND run AND client_NetworkSwitch.xConnected THEN pClientRequest^.xExecute := TRUE; END_IF // .. and check result/error IF pClientRequest^.xExecute AND run AND client_NetworkSwitch.xConnected THEN IF pClientRequest^.xDone THEN // Prepare next trigger of client request (a rising edge of xExecute) pClientRequest^.xExecute := FALSE; IF clientRequestsCnt < SIZEOF(clientRequests)/SIZEOF(clientRequests[0])-1 THEN // next client request clientRequestsCnt := clientRequestsCnt + 1; ELSE clientRequestsIterationCounter := clientRequestsIterationCounter + 1; clientRequestsCnt := 0; END_IF pClientRequest := clientRequests[clientRequestsCnt]; END_IF END_IF I did try a semi-coded way using the IoDrvModbusTCP library, and setting the slave com settings, then 10 commands and 10 requests, then using a TP on xDone as a pause, before triggering another request - this is time the delay is around 120ms - so the device is fine with the speed, just something I am doing wrong in the ModbusFB method I am sure.

Post by bschraud on Speicherbegrenzung für lokale Variablen CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
