Hello, I couldn't figure what/where the issue was, so I deleted everything from automation server and reinstalled the edge gateway and did the process again. It worked for about a month and then it stopped working again. It presents the same symptom, edge gateway is online but I can't connect to the PLC. Any idea of what could be the issue? Thank you!

Post by ofey on two different OPC clients with different privileges CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi! I have usually only connected one OPC client (our system) to an OPC server created in the codesys environment on a PLC. This OPC client has a lot of write privileges. A customer also want OPC access, but I want to restrict his access to only read certain values. Do you know if this is possible inside the single codesys runtime running on a controller?

Post by jshirazi on Restore license on Raspberry Pi CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, I recently got a license for Raspberry Pi, after license activation I made a backup copy of "CMLicenseNew.WibuCmRaU" file to a safe place. Things got complicated and I tried to downgrade OS for some reason after that I tried several times/ways to restore my license with no luck. the specifications are as follows: Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.1 codesyscontrol 4.10.0.0 SDK 3.5.19.30 Logs: **** ERROR: CodeMWriteLicenseFile: 'CMLicenseNew.WibuCmRaU' failed: Container not found or Server dose not support .... So if someone know a solution for this please kindly help me. Regards

Post by dhumphries on Control for Linux SL on Ubuntu Core CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Try using a password instead of a public key to log into the controller. I have a video showing how to do this on a default installation of Ubuntu server, it should work the same for Ubuntu Core. https://youtu.be/rj0dOhgnGjs?si=352PmveEP7JXZnO- I sign in to the controller at about 6:40 in the video. I have never tried to remove the public key and revert to signing in using a password, but it looks pretty straightforward https://askubuntu.com/questions/745423/how-to-turn-off-password-less-login-for-ssh

(dhumphries) I followed your advice and tried it on Ubuntu Server. Was a good choice. Your material was also very helpful :). Thanks for Your help! I no longer have problems connecting to Ubuntu. However, I still cannot install Virtual PLC. I'm currently getting a missing path message: "C:\Program Files\CODESYS 3.5.19.60\CODESYS\CODESYS Virtual Control for Linux SL\Delivery\virtuallinux\VirtualControlAPI.py." It looks as the package: "CODESYS Virtual Control for Linux SL" was not installed. But, there isn't one in CODESYS Store or I'm doing something incorrectly.

Hallo Martin, Thank you so much for the Code example. It works really fine for .porject Types. However, I encountered a challenge when attempting to apply it to .library Types. I also tried the option to "Perform static analysis automatically after compilation" # get Project values myProject = projects.primary # Creates an active application app = myProject.active_application # build Application and run static code analysis app.generate_code() Could you please offer any insights into why this might be occurring?

Post by alexgooi on OPC-UA and other communication questions CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Dear forum, I currently have a big question mark above my head, and maybe this forum can shine some light on the situation. I recently updated to Codesys 3.15 SP19 Patch 6. And now I’m trying to setup the OPC-UA server, besides that I’m trying to connect to the controller with the Codesys V3 (Ethernet) protocol. OPC-UA I have installed the correct licenses on my controller (Runtime and communication). I’m able to connect to the controller with an OPC-UA client, and I’m able to browse the tags, so far so good. Therefore I’m assuming that the OPC-UA server is running on the controller. But now the strange part, in the device security settings I have set the communication Policy to BASCI256SHA256 ( I also have tried the other ones) and the communication mode is set to secure if possible (I also have tried all the other ones) (see picture). With these settings I would assume that I would only be able to login with a Basic256SHA256 policy with a client. But the opposite is true, I am able to login using the no policy mode and when I set it to Basic256SHA256 the client (UA-Expert) notes that this policy is not available on the server. I then check the certificates and I noted that there is no certificate for the OPC-UA server, I tried to generate one but it gave the error that the certificate has not been created by the device (See picture). To summarize I have no clue what is going on, and the controller does the opposite of what I would expect. Codesys Ethernet V3 driver I have a HMI connected to the same controller using the Ethernet V3 driver. But this will not connect. I tried all the Protocols (see picture), with and without the username and password enabled. But it will not connect, when I scan the available servers I can see the controller with the port number that I am expecting, so I’m assuming that the Codesys V3 ethernet driver is up on the controller. Does anyone can give me some direction, because the stuff that I tried doesn’t make sense to me. Thank you in advance

Hello, I'm asking for help with installing the license server for Linux SL 4.18.0.0. When I try to install it, I get a message that the WIBUCodeMeter package is missing. I checked the package manager tab to see if the package is installed, and it is - Codemeter 8.40.7120.501. I've checked the CodeMeter Runtime on the target machine, and everything seems to be working fine. One thing caught my eye: the Device Architecture tab says "None" Please help me solve this problem.

I am CODESYS neophyte getting my wheels on. My goal is to re-platform an existing PLC application written in 61131 ST I've got the majority of the code/variables in a compilable form - excluding all the IO and comms nuances I am not sure whether this the right forum An important functionality which I implemented on the other platform was totally dynamic modbus devices... Most configurations I have come across impose static MB configs in which all configured devices MUST be present and functional... I have monkeyed around with MB enough to know that herding a half dozen MB cats into a working config can be tricky. I just do them one at a time and dynamically turn them on/off in whatever combination is convenient with ID, IP, baud, parity etc being runtime tweakable. I am totally curious whether this is possible with codesys, or whether its device configuration corrals one into a static cage which requires re-building the code to support flexible variations. Best regards

Post by acc00 on Main Task cycle too long leading to PLC Fail CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I have 2 Wago PFC200 PLC, running with Runtime SP19 Patch 5, with the Redundant application. The PLC communicates as Modbus Master with at this moment 15 Modbus Slaves -later there will be 28 in total- (Drives, Power management units,...). These devices are connected in 2 rings (1 ring of Drives, 1 ring of Power Management units), with 2 Managed Moxa Switches being part of the ring. Each PLC is connected to one of these switches. The issue I'm encountering is that the Cycle time of the Active PLC goes very high when I'm closing the Drive ring (simulating an issue on one Cabinet supply, resulting in that one Drive shut down, which can happen on field quite often). As a result of this long cycle, the PLC fails and goes to Exception, and the Passive PLC does not take control of the system. A normal cycle is around 30ms for the Main task, and a few ms for the Ethercat task. When I monitor with Profiler, I see that in this Maximum Cycle, the main Task is only taking 13ms, so I'm not sure where the PLC is hanging for so long. Is the remaining cycle time the Redundant management/sync or something else? Thank you in advance.

Post by thewizard8 on Raspberry PI4 Serial Port CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi Dear All, I'm using my raspberry PI4 as a CoDeSyS PLC (Build from scratch with custom electronics). I was able to implement all fieldbuses with the exception of Modbus Serial. I'm using the internal Port (GPIO) and I configured it in /etc/Codesyscontrol_user.cfg the following away: [SysCom] Linux.Devicefile.1=/dev/ttyUSB0 Linux.Devicefile.2=/dev/ttyS0 I'm using COM2 on Master configuration. I'm using a interface board from TTL/RS485 (bidirectional board), and it's works perfectly with other devices but not in CoDeSyS. I'm able to send data with python script and read it on my pc using putty, but when I use a modbus slave simulator to interface with codesys I always get red icons on master and slave. (Please find image attached). I'm pretty shure that this might be a bad parameter on my CoDeSyS runtime configurstion file. Can someone help me? I'm stuck and this is for my master degree certification.

Post by paro on Modbus Client Request Not Processed CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, Problem in your code is that you are not calling the ClientFb cyclic. Please look at the Example from CODESYS: https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/modbus/home/Home/ Your code works if the client fb is called cyclic! IF NOT initDone THEN initDone := TRUE; // configure clientTcp clientTcp(aIPaddr:=Ethernet.IPAddress, uiPort:=502); // configure clientSerial clientSerial(iPort:=SysCom.SYS_COMPORT2, dwBaudRate:=SysCom.SYS_BR_115200, byDataBits:=8, eParity:=SysCom.SYS_EVENPARITY, eStopBits:=SysCom.SYS_ONESTOPBIT, eRtuAscii:=ModbusFB.RtuAscii.RTU); // configure clientRequestReadCoils_1 clientRequestReadCoils_1(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=42, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); // configure clientRequestWriteSingleRegister clientRequestWriteSingleRegister(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=43, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); // configure clientRequestReadCoils_2 clientRequestReadCoils_2(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=44, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); // configure clientRequestReadInputRegisters clientRequestReadInputRegisters(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=44, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); END_IF // call the client FB's clientTcp(); clientSerial(); // call client request FB's clientRequestReadCoils_1(rClient:=clientTcp, xExecute:=TRUE, uiStartItem:=2, uiQuantity:=3, pData:=ADR(aDataCoils_1[0])); // for more details see Example_TCP, especially ClientRequest control (xExecute, xDone, xError). IF clientRequestReadCoils_1.xDone THEN // get data from aDataCoils_1 ... END_IF clientRequestWriteSingleRegister(rClient:=clientTcp, xExecute:=TRUE, uiItem:=3, uiValue:=123); clientRequestReadCoils_2(rClient:=clientTcp, xExecute:=TRUE, uiStartItem:=2, uiQuantity:=3, pData:=ADR(aDataCoils_2[0])); clientRequestReadInputRegisters(rClient:=clientTcp, xExecute:=TRUE, uiStartItem:=16, uiQuantity:=3, pData:=ADR(aDataInputRegisters[0]));

Post by dogulas on OPC UA C# client connecting to OPC UA CODESYS server CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Noob alert! I’m just getting my feet wet with CODESYS. I have a “Hello World” project in the CODESYS IDE. I’m using the Win SoftPLC on the same computer. I’ve added a Communication Manager under the Application node. Under that is “OPC UA Server -> IEC Symbol Publishing 01”. I also added “OPC_UA_Symbols -> Information Model”. I’m not sure I need the second thing. I was grasping at straws. I also set up several dummy symbols in the IEC Symbol Publishing 01 node. In my C# application, I am trying to get an instance of EndpointDescription from CoreClientUtils.SelectEndpoint(“opc.tcp://localhost:1217/Gateway-1”, useSecurity: false, 15000). I wasn’t sure about the “Gateway-1”. I found that in the CODESYS IDE under the project -> Communication Settings. When I execute the previous method call in C#, I get: “BadSecureChannelClosed”. I have no idea what that means. Any pointers to documentation are welcome.

Post by cihangur on OpC UA server on Raspberry Pi 64 SL runtime CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello everyone, I wanted to write here because it is a similar and the most up-to-date topic. I want to connect to CoDeSys Win V3 x64 - 3.5.19.50 with OPC UA using WinCC Advanced V17. (Or to a PLC with CoDeSys Version 4.10.0.0) My settings are exactly the same as the previous comment. I even tried many different settings. I can access all CoDeSys OPC UA variables via TIA Portal IDE and add them to my HMI tags. When WinCC RT Advanced is started, it gives a warning that the connection could not be established and does not update the variables. I can connect to Inovance AM600 using CoDeSys Target version 3.5.11.50. (The same version Win x64 is also connected.) However, a security setting in the current versions prevents me. I would be very happy if those who have up-to-date experience on this issue and find a solution share it. The CoDeSys Security Settings which I can access variables with TIA Portal: CommunicationPolicy: POLICY_BASICSHA256SHA256 CommunicationMode: ALL Activation: Activated UserAuthentication: ENABLED Server Certificate: Valid until 2034 Greetings.

Post by dogulas on OPC UA C# client connecting to OPC UA CODESYS server CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Ok, I have a simple test environment. From C#, using OPC UA, I can read DINTs, write DINTs, read Structs, but when I try to write a struct I get BadNotWritable. I am using Communication Manager, OPC UA Server, and IEC Symbol Publishing. I have a struct defined with one single DINT in it. The instance of the struct is in GVL. The struct is marked read/write in IEC Symbol Publishing. Any ideas? Pointers are welcome. public static async Task WriteStructA(byte[] structAData) { if (_session == null) throw new Exception("session is null"); // create a RequestHeader RequestHeader requestHeader = new RequestHeader { Timestamp = DateTime.UtcNow, TimeoutHint = 30000 // timeout in milliseconds }; // create an ExtensionObject to wrap the value to be written ExtensionObject extensionObject = new ExtensionObject( new ExpandedNodeId("GVL_StructA", 5), structAData ); // create a WriteValue object to hold the value to be written WriteValue writeValue = new WriteValue { NodeId = _structANodeId, AttributeId = Attributes.Value, Value = new DataValue(extensionObject) }; // put the WriteValue object into a WriteValueCollection object WriteValueCollection writeValueCollection = new WriteValueCollection() { writeValue }; // perform the write operation asynchronously WriteResponse writeResponse = await _session.WriteAsync( requestHeader, writeValueCollection, CancellationToken.None ); // check the result of the write operation if (writeResponse.Results[0] != StatusCodes.Good) throw new Exception("Write failed: " + writeResponse.Results[0]); }

Post by shubadubalu on OP UA Client - Variablen zeigen alle 0 CODESYS Forge talk (Post)

Post by timvh on Codesys virtual control redundancy CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I think it depends on what you consider as redundant. Is it allowed to plug the network cable in another device (server), move the USB key with license to the other device (server) and then start it up? Or should it automatically switch over within msec and take over the communication with the I/O flawlessly without noticing the switchover? We helped several customers setting up the CODESYS Redundancy functionality and the nice thing is that when you have it up and running, you can easily switchover from active to passive and when you download a new applicaiton, CODESYS handles the update of boot project on the passive controller automatically. Sure this will require an additional license and the license for redundancy, but if your installation is that critical it should be worth it. Please contact us (Extend Smart Coding) if you need any further information. We could help you setup the configuration and possibly provide the licenses for it (I noticed you are situated in the Netherlands).

Post by alexgooi on Licensing info not available. CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Sorry for the question, but I'm not completely getting the idea here, could you be more specific, maybe give an example? I'm now in a state where I don't have a softcontainer on my license server anymore (even after reinstalling from the Codesys-IDE). I tried reaching the webserver of Codemeter but when I do that I get redirected to http://"IP":22352 This is not reachable, afterwards I installed lynx on my Debian machine (command line only). From here I could reach the webserver and toggle the network server setting, but unfortunately this did not help. I also tried to changed the remote read setting to 1 (in the Server.ini file). But after a Codemeter reboot this is overwritten to 0. I have the feeling that it should be much easier to get a license to work, am I missing some checkbox somewhere? Is there a tutorial (or manual) that explains the licensing sequence step by step, because I'm pretty stuck.

Post by user0815 on Kommunikation zwischen ROS2 und CODESYS ĂĽber Web Sockets CODESYS Forge talk (Post)

Post by jonasz on Deploy LicenseServer for Linux SL CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
So here's how: I manually installed the following packages: codemeter-lite_8.30.6885.501_amd64.deb codesyslicenseserver_licenseserver_4.18.0.0_all.deb codesyswbmbase_wbmbase_4.18.0.0_all.deb codesyswbmlicensing_wbmlicensing_4.18.0.0_all.deb Of course, the license server appeared immediately. Trying to install it again using Install in the Deploy tab, the same error appears. Of course, the information that such a server is already installed is also there. Configuring PLC, S_PLC, EDGE, and SAFE_TIMER_PROVIDER went smoothly, and basically everything works. I wrote a simple program for S_PLC. I'm loading the programs into PLC and S_PLC. When loading the program into S_PLC, a message appears stating that there is no connection to the S_PLC controller. Timeout error. Restart the controller, attempt to load, and see the above. After changing the cycle time for S_PLC to 50ms, the problem no longer occurs. My question, besides the difficulty of installation for a new user, is what causes the cycle time for S_PLC to be so long, and how can I fix it?
