Internal compiler error in SP22.x (expLValue null) — SP21 unaffected — need help isolating root cause I'm hitting the same internal compiler crash reported here. Same exact stack trace (AssignmentStatementReplacer → CreateAssignmentExpression → ArgumentNullException: Value cannot be null. Parameter name: expLValue), but in my case triggered by a self-written library, not a Visualization object — so this looks like a general SP22.x codegen regression rather than something tied to one specific language feature. What I've confirmed: Reverting to SP21 — no issue, builds clean SP22.x — internal compiler crash during Build > Application, code generation phase, with zero useful location info (no POU, no line number) check_for_errors/precompile-only passes cleanly; the crash only happens on a real full build, meaning static analysis never sees it coming What I've tried to isolate the cause (without success): Removed a suspected pattern involving a VAR_IN_OUT parameter used directly as a FOR-loop control variable, combined with early RETURN inside the loop — crash persisted identically afterward Confirmed no Visualization Manager or similar object in the project (ruling out the trigger in the linked report) Used an AI coding assistant (Claude Code) to search for other suspicious patterns — no luck pinpointing the exact statement Question @codesys-com Since the compiler gives no location info at all, is there any way to get more diagnostic output from the SP22.x codegen phase (verbose/debug build flags, log level settings, etc.)? Without that, isolating this in a large library means blind bisection — cutting the codebase in half repeatedly until the crash disappears, which is slow and error-prone without official tooling support. Dear reader, I am using the codesys JSON utilities SL, 1.9.0.0 library. And then specifically the FB JSONBuilder. I need to create a main object with at least 2 objects in it. The first object is no problem, but I cannot insert the second object into the main object. See attached my code and the result I get. I am assuming that I am doing something wrong with the parent index but have tried a lot and can't get it done. Kind regards, Rob

A Task is a standard IEC 61131-3 object, so logically that you can export the VISU_TASK. A visualization is no standard IEC 61131-3 object, so not compatible with other IEC tools. Just use the standard export / import functionality. These files are not IEC compatible and can only be used in CODESYS. But these do support visu objects.

Hi all, is it possible to use object instances that are not instantiated by codesys itself, e.g. have been defined in UA-Modeler ? When I browse the plc with UA-Expert I see those instances, but I have not seen information in codesys or the web if these are writable in codesys. So far, I am under the impression, that it is not possible, but would like to hear from others. Also, is it correct, that it is not possible to create references inside codesys ? This library would be very useful for IPC communications. Using a UDP socket on localhost is unpredictable, as with slightly loaded machines it does not even guarantee packet delivery locally. Using TCP creates a lot of overhead. Message named pipes would be an excellent solution for Windows RTE. On Linux, since the release of the extension package, there is no issue, as it is sufficient to develop a component. However, although now 90% of our clients understand that Linux runtimes are better in every way compared to Windows RTE, especially from the security aspect (Not in kernel space) and the issues with Windows updates, 10% stubbornly insist (sometimes for trivial commercial reasons) on using Windows. Managing IPC with circular buffers in shared memory is quite ugly, or rather really ugly and unaesthetic. In the manuals, I saw the SysPipeWindows libraries, so I decided to test them, but unfortunately, I noticed that they are not implemented for RTE devices. Technically, I could try to open them as regular files, but SysFileOpen returns 16#27 or 16#39 depending on how I set the name (direction of the slashes). Here is the code to create shared memory and named pipes. Build: CODESYS 3.5 SP19 Patch 1 (64-bit) Host OS: Windows 10 Target: Linux SL I have a project with programs in Structured Text and Ladder Diagram. When I try to use the Find function, it works for the Active Editor; however, when I try to use Find for the Entire Project, I get the error "Object reference not set to the instance of an object." I know what this error means in the context of the program, but I have no idea why the find function is returning this error. The variable I am searching does not matter: it happens with all variables. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. I generally use the Find function quite often as I am developing and not having it is really slowing me down.

I am using the object SMC_GEOINFO to generate a trajectory and move a system accordingly using the SMC_INTERPOLATOR function block similar to the sample project CNC10_DynamicPath.project. According to the documentation, the movement type INITPOS does not require a start position in the SMC_GEOINFO object, which is confirmed in the documentation of the SMC_GEOINFO object. When using the movement type INITPOS however, the motion will still start from the starting point defined in the SMC_GEOINFO object (0,0,0 if not specified otherwise). Does someone know how to resolve this or is there an example project that makes use of the INITPOS movement type without specifying the starting point? Thanks in advance!

Just to clarify. Output for lamp will have two inputs: from plc IN (wall switch) and from visu button. Until now I had separate object for visu button and separate for visu lamp. Now I want it to be one object, bulb icone which will change color on lamp status and yet by touching it will change visu button state. Tried "Switch Image" object but there is no way to assign switch var.
