Hello I'm trying to use DirOpen to access a directory where then I can read/list the files inside. But I can't list any files because DirOpen.xError is always true. In eError the message is this: " ERROR_UNKNOWN Local library error ID (0: no error; 5101: time out)**** " I have in the file explorer the path 'C:\CodesysTest\Aluminium' and to make sure I also created in the plc a folder to 'prj/Recipes/Aluminium'. I tried using the different paths, but in both it happens the same thing.Inside the folder Aluminium there is two csv files, that I want to list. I added in the library manager CAA Files and CAA Types. I am using the example of https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/CAA%20File/Current/Examples.html#directory but not matter what I do, I can't get the list the names of the files. What am I missing?

Hi, I would like to divide a project into multiple applications - as a minimum: one handling visualization and Alarm Manager, one handling I/O and plant control logic. But how to exchange variables between the applications? What have you done to get such a solution? In versions 3.5.19 and earlier, you can have Child applications, where the children can access a GVL in the Parent application. Children apps is no longer possible in 3.5.20 - but you can have 'sibling' apps - Several apps directly under PLC Logic, that is. But how do they best communicate? The Communication Manager / Data Sources Manager is sort of possible via OPC UA, but it seems like overkill and with some limitations - for example no ARRAY OF STRUCT possible this way. If you have separate devices in your project, you can exchange data via 'CODESYS ApplicationV3', but not other applications in the same device (see attachment Datasources.png). You can do it via 'Select the project type'->'Other Project' and select the same project file, but this leads to crashing the Development system when working with the variables afterwards. It would be great to hear your thoughts / experiences on this topic - Bjarne

The issue s the byte order typically in this case. Can be especially problematic with floating point numbers - even more tricky if transferred with a word based protocol. It is a peasant way to try out the alternatives, dword order can be a-b-c-d, b-a-d-c, c-d-a-b, d-c-b-a where a is the most significant, d is the least significant byte. So all you need is to swap the bytes in your dword, until you get the expected result. If you don't want to mess writing code for this, I'd recommend CAA_Memory library for that: MEM.ReverseBYTEsInDWORD and MEM.ReverseWORDsInDWORD functions would definitively do the trick. Hi Just new to motion and i am building my own 3axis cnc cutter using servo drives. i have every thing working quite well apart from mc_home. when executed (r_trig) it stops immediately and i get fb_wasnt_called_during_motion. if i execute the mc_home fb with a toggle it just runs and runs for a while then errors out. what im unsure of is the way mc_home works. from what i understand it changes the drive mode to 6 (homing) and should then run of the drive homing settings. once origin sensor is made then homing would stop and mc_home.done is true. and the position on the fb is where i what the new home position (zero) to be? or do i feed mc_readposition to that input? so i would think its the settings in the drive that aren't quite right. but i believe they are all correct. has any one got any info to steer me in the right direction? hello kevinrn, I've been looking for a solution to the CI/CD issue for a long time. Briefly about me... I am 32 and software architect for Codesys V3 and fullstack dev for web (VueJS, NestJS) in a small company in Erfurt (Germany). https://www.rex-at.de/. Through my web part, we already have CI/CD running well via GitLab (YAML-based configuration file (.gitlab-ci.yml), which defines which pipelines and jobs are executed when certain events occur) with everything you know. Stages for npm packages - prepare (GitVersion, npm install or whatever) - build (vite, tsc or whatever) - testing (vitest, jest or whatever) - deploy (npm packages) And similar for monorepo's or backend services (in NestJS) as DockerImages. For Codesys we have been building an OOP framework for years (~50 libraries now), which is currently managed via SVN and a specially written Svn-Watcher (in Python) gets commits and runs and builds everything together and deploys it to an FTP server and network drive. Why do we still have SVN? Because we are unfortunately still tied to the safety integration of Codesys and can therefore only go to SP15 at most with our controller/Eckelmann. But soon there will be an update and there will be no more obstacles to using Git. Hence my questions: 1. the basic idea is to run a local Windows Runner on some machine? 2. install Codesys on the machine where the runner is running? 3. powershell & python scripts are then used to execute builds (compile, build, sign libraries) & deploys? 4. can the Github action also be used in GitLab? ChatGPT has already told me that it's not the same, but it doesn't hurt to ask. Do you have any ideas on this? Greetings :D

Hi everyone, I'm working on a CODESYS-based project running on a Weintek cMT2078X HMI with a built-in CODESYS runtime. The system communicates with multiple Modbus RTU slave devices, arranged in a cascade. The number of connected units can vary between 2 and 8, depending on the installation. Each slave has 17 Modbus channels, which are polled cyclically every 5 seconds. The issue is that when fewer devices are physically connected (e.g. only 3 out of 8), the Modbus master still attempts to communicate with all configured slaves. This leads to massive delays due to timeouts (currently 200ms per channel). For one disconnected device, that’s: 17 × 200ms = 3.4 seconds of delay per polling cycle, and this quickly multiplies with each additional missing slave. This behavior significantly degrades the system's performance and responsiveness. We attempted a workaround where we tried to trigger polling based on a variable in the PLC program, but this caused instability and even led to hardware hangs/freezes on the cMT2078X – likely due to clashes in how the Modbus polling engine and program logic interact at runtime. My main questions are: Is there a way in CODESYS to dynamically enable/disable Modbus slave devices at runtime, using a BOOL or INT variable (e.g. indicating number of active slaves)? Can devices or channels be conditionally polled or temporarily disabled without removing them from the device tree? Are there any best practices or examples for handling variable numbers of Modbus slaves in scalable systems like this? Would splitting communication across tasks or interfaces help reduce the impact of timeouts? Any advice, documentation references, or architectural suggestions would be extremely helpful. I'm looking for a robust way to dynamically scale slave polling without degrading system stability or performance. Thanks in advance!

I am using CODESYS v3.5 SP20 Patch 3 / Control for BeagleboneBlack SL v4.13 and after some time the OPC UA Server crashes. However, Runtime still works without any issues. The events leading up to the OPC server crash are the most suspicious: 1) Mutex deadlock detected - owner thread died, and 2) Runtime received SIGABRT. And it seems very similar with this topic except used versions - issues should be fixed with previous SP's. I can't seem to find any information about these events. Need some pointers in the right direction on how I can fix this problem.

Hi @tk096, Thank you for your response. Here is example project file and some screenshot for your analysis regarding this matter. In order to reproduce the problem on your side and make it independent of the hardware, I simulated the encoder counter incrementally for the master in this example. I configured a virtual axis as the slave motion axis. The problem occurs in the same way in the real hardware configuration (servo drive connected to Ethercat and hardware incremental encoder) in MC_CamIn. I hope this example helps you see the problem on your side and understand and find the source of the problem with FreeEncoderAxis for Softmotion 4.17.0.0. Best Regards, Imdat
