Post by fajean on CODESYS control on RPi starts, shortly runs, then exits CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
4.11 appears to solve the problem. Thanks for your help. I had first installed the 64-bit version of RPiOS, but looking at various posts and the product's page on the store which only lists 32-bit compatibility, I downgraded to the 32-bit version. I did this before trying 4.11, and it did not solve the problem. Thus my working system is 32-bit, and I am wondering if I can go back to 64-bit or not. An 64-bit OS is not listed as compatible on the store's web page, but when installing there actually is a 64-bit version listed (automatically chosen when installing on 64-bit, but otherwise greyed out). Is 64-bit supported and the website is out-of-date, or is that some kind of work-in-progress?

Post by salvadegianluca on SysPlcCtrl23 and C0338: The library 'cmperrors interfaces, 3.5.5.0 (system)' is supported just in 32 bit applications CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Good afternoon to everyone; I'm stuck with this error and I don't know how to get out from it... I tried several time googling for alternative systems to control the PLC applications and resets but without success. I would like to realize the possibility to reset the CPU and to start/stop the applications as it was possible with the SysPlcCtrl23, but this library is no longer supported in 64 bit systems and it seems due to the cmperrors interfaces sub library that was included in the above said one. Someone found a work around for this issue?

Post by mborchert on PFC100 Error "Bus not running" CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, i currently want to use a wago 750-8102 with the "codesys control for pfc100" runtime. I want to add the devices connected to the internal pfc100 bus via the "search devices" tab. This was reccommended in the following thread: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Deutsch/thread/7701332199/ But whenever i try to search for devices codesys just doesnt find anything and i cant close the "search devices" window. Has anyone got an idea what the problem might be? I already tried adding the devices connected to the pfc100 manually but the bus just doesn´t start. best regards Moritz

Post by kuegerls on SysProcessExecuteCommand2 and CANopen Device CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, CODESYS Control is running on my RevPi, and my system communicates over a CANbus with a master using the ConnectCan module (Slave - CANopen Device). The communication works perfectly fine so far. However, as soon as I call a Python script with "SysProcessExecuteCommand2" that creates a CSV file and executes without errors, the master does not adopt any changes to the Transmission Process Data Objects (TPDOs). I don't quite understand what one has to do with the other, and perhaps someone can help me with this. Here is my script call: SysProcess.SysProcessExecuteCommand2(pszCommand:='python /home/pi/test.py', pszStdOut:=sCMDOutput, udiStdOutLen:= SIZEOF(sCMDOutput), pResult := ADR(eResult)); Thank you in advance! Best regards, Stefan

Post by aria13 on Has anyone fed ESP32 sensor data into CODESYS (via MQTT/Modbus)? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Has anyone tried sending live sensor data from an ESP32 into a CODESYS runtime (for example via MQTT gateway or a Modbus bridge) to trigger PLC logic? I was reading an ESP32 → MQTT tutorial (https://www.theengineeringprojects.com/2021/11/esp32-mqtt.html) that shows how easy it is to publish sensor data from an ESP32, and I’m wondering how practical that is when tying the stream into industrial control software like CODESYS. I’ve also seen Arduino forum threads where people relay sensor streams to MQTT brokers and Raspberry Pi projects that bridge MQTT→Modbus, so I’m mainly curious about real-world issues: reliability, message latency, and simple patterns you’d recommend for safe PLC integration. Any tips, examples, or gotchas from folks who’ve done this?

Post by rau00 on Touch Probe 0x60B8 writting CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi erveyone, Rau here, first time asking on CODESYS Forge: When working with my servodrives, a special behaviour is required on dsp402 0x60B8 object, a control that is not supported by MC_TouchProbe. For this reason, I'd like to ask: Anyone knows if there is any way to bypass or change the softmotion axis writting into 0x60B8 object? My main problem is that MC_TouchProbe.TriggerInput.iTriggerNumber only allows to choose between TP 1 and TP 2 (not both at the same time). iTriggerNumber only allows values [0, 1, 2, 3], other values triggers an error in the FB, wether SMC_TP_COMM_ERROR for values [4, 5, 6, 7] and SMC_TRIGGER_OUT_OF_RANGE with any other value. Best regards, Guillem

Post by phuvutran on CODESYS Date/Time Picker in Dialog does not update value on close (focus issue) – any workaround? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi everyone, I am working with CODESYS 3.5.21 and using the Date/Time Picker inside a dialog (popup visualization). I noticed a behavior that seems problematic: The Date/Time Picker does NOT update the bound variable immediately. It only updates when the control loses focus/select. This causes an issue in my dialog: User selects a new date/time Immediately presses OK (which closes the dialog) The new value is NOT saved The variable still contains the old value So it seems the Date/Time Picker still holds the value internally and does not commit it before the dialog is closed.

Post by cvrettacos-dse on Table Element Scroll Return CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I would like to use swipe/pan gestures to scroll a table visualization element (CODESYS 3.5.21.10) on a DSE M810 display. The swipe / pan gesture control works fine, however, I cannot figure out how to reset / navigate to the top of the table again with code. I have tried the Scrolling begin variable, and the visu manager is setting it to FALSE right away but the table doesn't actually scroll back to top. If I check the “Scroll elements with scrollbar” box, then the Scrolling begin variable works perfectly, but now the swipe/pan scrolling no longer works and you have to use the scrollbar. Is it possible to do what I've described? Any assitence you can provide is appreciated. Thanks.

Post by timvh on CPU + EtherCAT redundancy CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
It works well with two Wago 750-8210's. I helped a few customers setting this up. But it should work with any device which can control EtherCAT I/O, is real-time and has sufficient network interfaces. Two network adapters can be used to create a redundant EtherCAT network (you need 2 additional switches for this). The other network adapters can be used to interconnect the 2 PLC's (synchronization). We noticed that if you exchange variable lists that there could be some issues if you have long lists. So what we did is use a SoftPLC on a server that contains all the settings which continuously sends network packages (GVL sender) and which is received by both PLC's (network receiver). Switching over is done in milliseconds. The bus doesn't notice the change-over. EtherCAT communication works flawlessly.

Post by gseidel on Absolute movement controlled by an external encoder. CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi polyautomacao, basically, there are two ways to approach this. My first choice would be to check whether your servo drives supports an external encoder, connect the encoder to the servo and configure the servo accordingly. In this case, you would not need to change anything in the CODESYS application. If that is not an option, you could use SM_DrivePosControl, a drive that closes the position loop in the PLC, and feed it with the external encoder positions. See (0). You can switch your servo drive to velocity control mode (SMC_SetControllerMode) and use SMC_FollowVelocity to apply the fSetVelocity of the SM_DrivePosControl to your servo. The MC_MoveAbsolute can then be performed on the SC_DrivePosControl Hope that helps. (0) https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20SoftMotion/_sm_example_poscontrol.html Best regards, Georg

Post by jroddball79 on PM556-TP-ETH — How to change IP address without overwriting the PLC program? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
We have checked open ports. SSH (22) and HTTP (80) are not reachable. The only open ports are: 502 (Modbus TCP — used for lighting control) 1200 (CODESYS runtime) 1201 (CODESYS runtime) We can connect via Automation Builder using the current IP, but we don't have the original project source — only an empty project. This is why we are afraid of doing a full download, as it would overwrite the running application. Is there any way to change the IP through the CODESYS runtime protocol on ports 1200/1201 without affecting the running program?"

Post by serwis on Dynamic target position tracking CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I am trying to control a servo drive and dynamically set its position. I control the drive via EtherCAT with a cycle time of 500us. I use the MC_MoveAbsolute block for this. The problem is that when using a PID controller, I generate the positions I want the drive to move to on an ongoing basis, and I would like the position to be set immediately. The MC_MoveAbsolute block must receive a rising edge to execute, and I would like the movement to be performed without waiting for this edge. I have created a function that generates a rising edge every 1 ms, but I am unable to change this time to 500 µs because the TON function does not support times shorter than 1 ms. Below is the code to call the rising edge: IF Exe = TRUE THEN delay1(IN:=TRUE, PT:=T#1MS); IF delay1.Q = TRUE THEN Exe := FALSE; delay1(IN:=FALSE); END_IF END_IF IF Exe = FALSE THEN delay(IN:=TRUE, PT:=T#1MS); IF delay.Q = TRUE THEN Exe := TRUE; delay(IN:=FALSE); END_IF END_IF END_IF Here is the code for calling the MC_MoveAbsolute function: MoveDegree( Axis:= Tilt, Execute:= Exe, Position:= position_target - (base_angle_real * feedforward_turn), Velocity:= vel, Acceleration:= acc, Deceleration:= dec, Jerk:= jerk, Direction:= MC_DIRECTION.shortest, BufferMode:= MC_BUFFER_MODE.Aborting, Done=> , Busy=> , Active=> , CommandAborted=> , Error=> , ErrorID=> ); I realize that there are probably better methods for performing this type of task. How can I implement motion with a dynamically changing setpoint? THANKS

Post by xcqt on Oop best practice CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi all, I’m currently trying to improve my OOP structure in CODESYS and I’m looking for some input on how others approach this. I understand the basics like inheritance, interfaces, abstract FBs, methods, and properties, but I still struggle a bit with the overall architecture and what’s considered clean or scalable in bigger projects. As an example, I’m working on two different energy meter function blocks: FB_EnergyMeter_MQTT reads data from MQTT (strings) FB_EnergyMeter_Modbus reads data from Modbus (words) Both have their own Update() method and implement the same interface (something like IF_EnergyMeter). Later on, I’ll probably add more meter types, but they should all behave the same from the controller’s point of view. Now, there’s a FB_GridControl block that needs power data from these meters. I see two options here: Define the meter blocks inside FB_GridControl and call them directly (for example fbModbusMeter.UpdateModbus()). Keep the meter blocks outside and pass them into FB_GridControl as interface references, so the control block doesn’t know which specific type of meter it’s dealing with. Option 2 feels cleaner and more flexible to me, but I’m not entirely sure how to handle the data flow in that case. Should I pass the meter instance through an interface reference (REFERENCE TO IF_EnergyMeter)? Or is there a better way to link the external FBs to the control block? I’d like to hear how you structure this kind of setup or see an example from someone who has done something similar. EDIT: I think i need to do something like this fbModbusUpdateInput(wInput:= wWordValue); fbMqttUpdateInput(strInput:= strStringValue); IF bUseMqtt THEN Meter REF = fbMqttUpdateInput; ELSE Meter REF = fbModbusUpdateInput; END_IF fbControl.SetMeter(UsedMeter := Meter); Or am i thinking wrong? Thanks, Thomas

Post by kbazzett on "Sequent Microsystems" industrial automation hat raspberry pi CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Here is a complete list of the Sequent Microsystems Pi hats that work in Codesys. https://github.com/SequentMicrosystems/SM_CODESYS/tree/main/ "For easy install download the .package file and open it on your computer, Codesys installer will know what to do with it." <- This. The Multi I/O Hat fit my needs because of the Analog I/O 4-20ma and RTD. I used a Raspberry Pi 5 and 64b install. The example project is also worth the download. With the sample project open, right click on the Raspberry Pi device and update to whatever you are using (SL, MC, 64b). Enable I2C on the PI. You can jumper the hats Analog Outputs to Inputs and see it function on the Web Visualization. Very Cool! I spent quite a bit of time trying to find this solution so hopefully this update helps others. Here is the video link on how to setup a Raspberry PI as a Codesys PLC https://youtu.be/RPoPscbo3Kc?si=Th4-n-mQ6g5fdHj8

Post by cihangur on OpC UA server on Raspberry Pi 64 SL runtime CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello everyone, I wanted to write here because it is a similar and the most up-to-date topic. I want to connect to CoDeSys Win V3 x64 - 3.5.19.50 with OPC UA using WinCC Advanced V17. (Or to a PLC with CoDeSys Version 4.10.0.0) My settings are exactly the same as the previous comment. I even tried many different settings. I can access all CoDeSys OPC UA variables via TIA Portal IDE and add them to my HMI tags. When WinCC RT Advanced is started, it gives a warning that the connection could not be established and does not update the variables. I can connect to Inovance AM600 using CoDeSys Target version 3.5.11.50. (The same version Win x64 is also connected.) However, a security setting in the current versions prevents me. I would be very happy if those who have up-to-date experience on this issue and find a solution share it. The CoDeSys Security Settings which I can access variables with TIA Portal: CommunicationPolicy: POLICY_BASICSHA256SHA256 CommunicationMode: ALL Activation: Activated UserAuthentication: ENABLED Server Certificate: Valid until 2034 Greetings.

ILIYA

Post by mtho on JSON Utilities - JSON file written with invalid structure CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I'm using the JSON Utilities SL library to write configurations in my program to a file. I'm generating the JSON data using the builder function block and all appears to work correctly. When I write the jsondata to file, I'm finding that some of the JSON elements are not being written in the right location in the file. Rather than writing they keys under the parent object, they get written outside the root JSON object at the end of the file. If I then try to read the file back into the program, I get an invalid_structure error. I don't get any errors when populating the JSON data or when writing the file. I attached an example of the JSON writer output. The problems begin with key P200. Each P200 should go under MBR1 through MBR3. Among the rest of the keys, they are supposed to be under different parent objects. I am using default values for wsLineBreak and encoding.

Post by kaotic2499 on Upgraded Raspberry 2b to Raspberry 5, Trends Broken? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello! Raspberry pi 2b just is getting a bit slow so decided to go for a Raspberry 5. Project is now upgraded to suit Pi 64 SL... so, now although everything runs perfectly... for some reason my trends will not save! its driving me nuts... ^Tried merging tasks with main program & trends ^tried re-prioritizing tasks (shifting 1 - 31 etc) ^Recreated the Trend Recording manager from scratch ^Tried swapping persisitant vars to GVL Retains then non-retains... (Project attached is as per before trial&error) Raspberry Pi 2b still runs "perfectly" though its very chuggy (Still saves the trends, note this is of an pretty much identical project minus the device compatibility) Does anyone have any advice to offer? project attached.... I feel it could be outside of Codesys itself causing the issues, but cant see/find anything on the internet to assist (or anyone else with the same problem as me...) Can attach project in another format (non archive) any assistance is much appreciated!
