Post by mondinmr on Direct Pointers in IOMapping for EtherCAT with IoDrvEthercatLib.ETCSlave_Dia CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I have found a very interesting solution using: IoConfigTaskMap IoConfigConnectorMap IoConfigChannelMap The first is the list of IO tasks. The second is the connector for each IO module in the IOMap. The third is the individual input or output on the IOMap. One of the properties of the connector is another pointer to a connector, which corresponds with the connector of the EtherCAT slave. Through this information, it is possible to understand to which EtherCAT slave an IO connectormap corresponds. I am attaching an FB that allows for the construction of an IO map and finding the pointer to the actual IOs in the IOMap based on the bitoffset. Post by dominggus on when going online, stuck on "Syncing file "visuelemsdatetime.tl_datetime.txt" CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, We are currently using a Raspberry Pi 4 CM4 module in a EdgeBox RPI 200 - Industrial Edge Controller running the latest CODESYS Runtime Package 4.11.0.0. On the PC (actually an Intel Macbook Pro running Windows 10 in Parallels) we run CODESYS V3.5.19.50. Yesterday end of day when I was about to logoff and head home, I wanted to send the latest build to the Raspberry I clicked the Login button to compile a new version and then sync the application and all the files, it get's stuck on the last file to sync (see attached screenshot). This takes eternally, although sometimes, when I use my SFTP client (Cyberduck) and go into the raspberry and refresh the directory /var/opt/codesys/PlcLogic/visu/, or when I open the actual file visuelemsdatetime.tl_datetime.txt, it gets un-stuck (forcing a refresh, which might fix the syncing issue) and CODESYS continues and I can click the Start button to start the application. But this SFTP force refresh trick does not always help either... What could be the issue here? network connectivity? Can someone please help me out?

Post by joshskellig on Publish a JSON payload via MQTT Publish (using IIot Libraries) CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I am trying to figure out how to get a JSON payload to properly publish to my MQTT Broker. Post by culius on JSON CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hey guys, I am trying to write a JSON. First time after login in PLC after download everthing works. But when I want to change values during runtime and try to recreate the JSON nothing happens. When forcing the xStart as an impulse i want to recreate it and see 2 as Key3 instead of 1 from the first run. Any Idea how to make this work? PROGRAM test VAR factory : JSON.JSONDataFactory; eDataFactoryError : JSON.FBF.ERROR; pJsonData : POINTER TO JSON.JSONData := factory.Create(eError => eDataFactoryError); fb_JBuilder : JSON.JSONBuilder; wsValue : WSTRING; diRootIndex, diObject1Index : DINT; iValue : INT; jsonArrayWriter : JSON.JSONByteArrayWriter; wsJsonData : WSTRING(1000); xFirst : BOOL := TRUE; END_VAR IF xFirst THEN fb_JBuilder(pJsonData := pJsonData, diRootObj => diRootIndex); wsValue := "Value1"; fb_JBuilder.SetKeyWithValue("Key1", wsValue, diParentIndex := diRootIndex); diObject1Index := fb_JBuilder.SetKeyWithObject("Key2", diParentIndex := diRootIndex); iValue := iValue + 1 ; // -----------!!! secound run should increment key3!!!!------------ fb_JBuilder.SetKeyWithValue("Key3", iValue, diParentIndex := diObject1Index); xFirst := FALSE; END_IF jsonArrayWriter(xExecute := TRUE, pwData := ADR(wsJsonData), udiSize := SIZEOF(wsJsonData), jsonData := pJsonData^, xAsyncMode := FALSE); Kind Regards

Post by kblundy on Change the Opening Position of the Dialog using VU.FbOpenDialog CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I hope the community can help me with this. I need to use the Visu Utils FbOpenDialog to control the opening and closing of a dialog. I have the Opening and Closing working, but I can’t get the dialogue's position to be controlled. The code looks like this: PROGRAM OPEN_DIALOG VAR xOpenLatchSettingDialog : BOOL; TopLeftDialog : VisuStructPoint ; fbOpenLatchSettingsDialog : VU.FbOpenDialog ; END_VAR IF xOpenLatchSettingDialog THEN xOpenLatchSettingDialog:= FALSE ; TopLeftDialog.iX := 100; TopLeftDialog.iY := 23; fbOpenLatchSettingsDialog(sDialogName := 'visu_AlarmLatchSettings', xExecute := xOpenLatchSettingDialog , xModal := TRUE, itfClientFilter := VU.Globals.OnlyTargetVisu, pTopLeftPosition := ADR(TopLeftDialog)); CloseVisuDialog(sDialogName:= 'visu_AlarmLatchSettings'); ELSE xOpenLatchSettingDialog:= TRUE ; IF fbOpenLatchSettingsDialog.xError THEN xOpenLatchSettingDialog := FALSE; END_IF END_IF I can't seem to work out a way to make the values in TopLeftDialog.iX and TopleftDialog.iY be passed correctly in the call and for it to change the position of the dialogue box. The code is compiled, but the position has not been changed. Any guidance or suggestions for revising this code would be incredibly valuable. Your insights could be the key to solving this issue.

Post by mp9876 on Problem using MeasureFrequence FB CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi everyone, new at Codesys and PLC programming in general. I am using Codesys Win V3.5 SP20 I would like to measure an encoder's frequency output (obtaining that pulse train from Factory IO) and intended to use the MeasureFrequence FB (Intern/CAA/Utilities/CAA Mathematics/3.5.19.0). As mentioned in the title what I need to measure is low frequency, such as lower than 40hz (a cycle every 25mS) or so; I could even go lower frequency if required as this is for test purposes) therefore I am not expecting problem measuring a low frequency with that FB The library in question appears to be installed as I can retrieve it from the Library Repository. I can also see it from the Device's Library Manager. Problem arises when I am trying to instantiate this particular FB. I go like this: VAR MeasF:MeasureFrequence; END_VAR Please note that as soon as I start typing the "MeasureFrequence", the MeasureFrequence comes out as a viable option in auto-typing; seems to indicate that the FB is recognized somehow. But there is no way I can compile this as it comes back with the following: C0046: Identifier 'MeasureFrequence' not defined. Tried to rename that to ABC instead of MeasF; same issue. Possibly that the library is not properly installed ? Placeholder ? I would greatly appreciate a bit of guidance if possible. Thank you and regards, Mike

Post by gatto on Backtick identifiers CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I’m in Codesys 3.5.20.40 and I try to declare the variable ´var1´ but I get an error. here : https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_rules.html i read : Backtick identifiers By using backticks, characters can also be used in identifiers that are not normally permitted in identifiers, such as special characters. The acute accent character is used for backticks: ´ (Unicode: U+02CA) The use of backticks is recommended in order to be able to use the same identifiers in CODESYS as in other programming languages or documents, such as circuit diagrams. Any character may be used between two backticks, except line breaks and other backticks. Keywords are also allowed as identifiers between backticks. Examples: ´Variable+9´ ´INT´ The backticks are part of each identifier and therefore var1 and ´var1´ are two different identifiers. Example PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR var1 : INT; ´var1´: INT; END_VAR var1 := var1 + 1; ´var1´ := 12; Are there any limitations or is something missing in my development environment?

Post by valenting on License problem with Raspberry Pi CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I have a raspberry pi with a license installed, but Codesys stops after 2 hours, and when I start it manually I have the following message: pszInfo=!!!! no runtime license - running in demo mode(~2 hours) I tried using License Manager, and got the following message: Licensing info not available. There is no dongle attached to the device. I have this message frequently, and usually removing the content of /var/opt/codesys/.cmact_license makes it work. After doing it and restarting Codesys, I have an empty Softcontainer without my License. I tried using "Install license" using the .WibuCmRau file for the corresponding license and got the following message: Licensing info not available. The device does not support this service. I also tried using Additional Functions > Restore Licenses with the Ticket ID and got the following message: This device does not support automatic license backup. How can I reinstall the license to this Raspberry Pi?

Post by risele on Modbus connection via Qronox PCD3 M6893 CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
You are welcome. Also note, that it's valid only if you modbus-device use same real/float value representation (IEEE 754). That's true for most of systems. But some devices may have other representation, such as integer + position of the decimal point, for example 123.456 is integer = 123456 and position = 3 Also note, that, ones again, depending on endianess of each system, you may also need to swap not just words, but bytes. TYPE u_Real : UNION rVal:REAL; wVal:ARRAY[0..1] OF WORD; bVal:ARRAY[0..3] OF BYTE; dwVAL:DWORD; //same as previous, may be easier to specify the MB register END_UNION END_TYPE than swapping may be something as VAR A,B,C,D:BYTE; //Bytes of the real value uIn, uOut:u_Real; rVal:REAL; ModbusReg1,ModbusReg2:WORD; END_VAR uIn.rVal:=rVal; uOut.A:=uIn.D; uOut.B:=uIn.C; uOut.C:=uIn.B; uOut.D:=uIn.A; ModbusReg1:=uOut.wVal[0]; ModbusReg1:=uOut.wVal[2]; Or you even need to reorder bits... Ones again, sending float/real values is not defined by Modbus protocol itself, so it is hardware- and software-dependent. The Modbus Poll (and most of modbus tools) have configuration parameters that will properly swap bytes on their side. Ones again, that's very helpful: https://www.scadacore.com/tools/programming-calculators/online-hex-converter/

First, if you don't need to change conversion rules in runtime, take a look at "Unit conversion" module (Application -> add object -> UnitConversion). You can specify there biderectional conversion with different units, limits and so on. Second, since MODBUS don't have "real" types but only general 16-bit registers and Real is 32-bit, generally you need a byte-was conversion Real <> two Words. Note, that depending on the devices on both sides, there are two options: Real-> Word1, Word2 or Real-> Word2, Word1, where Word1 is minor register in Modbus register pair and Word2 is major. You can use simple union: TYPE u_Real : UNION rVal:REAL; wVal:ARRAY[0..1] OF WORD; dwVAL:DWORD; //same as previous, may be easier to specify the MB register END_UNION END_TYPE and convert it as following: VAR myUnion:u_Real; rValue_TO_SEND:REAL; rValue_TO_GET:REAL; END_VAR myUnion.rVal:=rValue_TO_SEND; rValue_TO_GET:=myUnion.rVal; Note, that WORD-order should be properly set in MODBUS registers, otherwise you will get strange values. This tool is helpful: https://www.scadacore.com/tools/programming-calculators/online-hex-converter/ Alternative, you can use functions as REAL_TO_DW and DW_TO_REAL from OSCAT_BASIC, for example.

Post by yannickasselin on CloseTargetVisu CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
To shutdown the TargetVisu: Add the VisuElemBase library to your project then call VisuElemBase.Visu_PRG.RemoveAllTargetVisuClients(); Exemple: PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR xShutdownTargetVisu: BOOL; END_VAR ---------------------------------- IF xShutdownTargetVisu THEN xShutdownTargetVisu := FALSE; VisuElemBase.Visu_PRG.RemoveAllTargetVisuClients(); END_IF I tried calling RemoveAllTargetVisuClients() directly from a button mouse click event but it makes the Visu crash. So better using the code above and just set xShutdownTargetVisu to TRUE from the button. Works fine for me. To start the TargetVisu: From a cmd prompt. This will start the TargetVisu C:\Program Files\CODESYS\CODESYS Control RTE3>VisualClientController.exe --application=Application --flags=1 You can then place a .bat file on the desktop and put this inside: CD "C:\Program Files\CODESYS\CODESYS Control RTE3" VisualClientController.exe --application=Application --flags=1 exit Double clicking the .bat file will start the TargetVisu. You may need to replace the Application name by your own application name. Good to know: In the cmd above, if you replace --flags=1 by --flags=2, it will shutdown the TargetVisu.

Post by timvh on USB Game Controller with Raspberry Pi CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I'm not sure it will work, but you could try it with the CmpCharDevice library. You could create a function block that looks something like this: As input for the filename, you have to use your Linux device, e.g.: '/dev/input/event0' '/dev/input/by-path/platform-button@23-event' Off course you must also pass the pointer to the memory where the data can be written to and the size (count in number of bytes) of the buffer. FUNCTION_BLOCK FB_CharDevice VAR_INPUT szFilename: STRING; pbyBuffer : POINTER TO BYTE; udCount : UDINT; END_VAR VAR_OUTPUT iState : INT := 0; nrBytesRead : DINT; END_VAR VAR xInit : BOOL := TRUE; dFlags: DINT := CmpCharDevice.ACCESS_MODE.O_RDONLY + DINT#4000; // see details for flags: http://linux.die.net/man/2/open, + DINT#4000 is for non-blocking hDevice: CmpCharDevice.CmpCharDevice_Implementation.RTS_IEC_HANDLE := -1; Result : CmpCharDevice.CmpCharDevice_Implementation.RTS_IEC_RESULT; END_VAR IF xInit THEN hDevice := CmpCharDevice.CDOpen(szFilename, dFlags ,Result); // if it would not succeed, the result is -1 (Invalid handle) IF hDevice <> 16#FFFFFFFF AND Result = 0 THEN iState := 5; END_IF xInit := FALSE; END_IF IF iState = 5 THEN nrBytesRead := CmpCharDevice.CDRead(hDevice, pbyBuffer, udCount, Result); ELSE nrBytesRead := 0; END_IF Make sure you close the connection properly, maybe by overwriting the default FB_Exit method of the FB: // Clean up device IF hDevice <> 16#FFFFFFFF THEN __TRY CmpCharDevice.CDClose(hDevice,Result); __CATCH ; __ENDTRY iState := 0; END_IF

Post by harryc on Soft Container License issue with ARM64 Linux CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, We are working to provide our customers with CODESYS operation on our hardware product ( https://elprotech.com/product/el-qe-e-quantum-edge-series/ ). I'm trying to enable a CODESYS license (Soft container) on our product running ARM64 linux. This problem am having looks similar to here: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Runtime/thread/6d29b6b4de/ and here: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Runtime/thread/a2d0c63375/; but I am not running docker, and I am not re-installing a license. This is first time install. I have CODESYS Control SL running on my device, as well as CodeMeter. I purchased a license, and installed it to the CODESYS Development system, (Tools >> License Repository) then tried to install to the device (Tools >> License Manager >> o Device >> o Soft container >> Remote [0001] >> OK. This gives me the "License Manager - Overview" dialog, and the message "Licensing info not available. There is no dongle attached to the device." Below shows the running applications, installed packages, and current content of /var/opt/codesys Also attached screenshots of the Development software as I go through the steps to install the license. # # ps | grep -e "code" -e "CodeMeter" 1391 daemon /usr/sbin/CodeMeterLin 1407 root /opt/codesys/bin/codesyscontrol.bin /etc/codesyscontrol/CODESYSControl.cfg 1442 root /opt/codesysedge/bin/codesysedge.bin /etc/codesysedge/Gateway.cfg 29229 root grep -e code -e CodeMeter # dpkg -l Desired=Unknown/Install/Remove/Purge/Hold | Status=Not/Inst/Conf-files/Unpacked/halF-conf/Half-inst/trig-aWait/Trig-pend |/ Err?=(none)/Reinst-required (Status,Err: uppercase=bad) ||/ Name Version Architecture Description +++-==============-=============-============-============================================================================================== ii codemeter-lite 8.20.6539.500 arm64 WIBU CodeMeter minimal runtime ii codesyscontrol 4.14.0.0 arm64 codesyscontrol based on SDK 3.5.20.40 , from Fri Nov 29 08:35:37 CET 2024 [265], Release build ii codesysedge 4.14.0.0 arm64 codesysedge based on SDK 3.5.20.40 , from Fri Nov 29 08:34:19 CET 2024 [265], Release build # ls -la /var/opt/codesys total 208 drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 4096 Nov 7 05:31 . drwxr-xr-x 1 root root 4096 Nov 6 08:33 .. -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 23515 Nov 7 07:26 .Audit.log -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 160 Nov 7 05:31 .GroupDatabase.csv -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 160 Nov 7 04:37 .GroupDatabase.csv_ -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 20736 Nov 29 2024 .SoftContainer_CmRuntime.wbb -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 1982 Nov 29 2024 .UFC_SoftContainer_CmRuntime.WibuCmLif -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 229 Nov 7 04:35 .UserDatabase.csv -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 229 Nov 7 04:35 .UserDatabase.csv_ -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 11807 Nov 7 05:30 .UserMgmtRightsDB.csv drwxr-xr-x 6 root root 4096 Nov 6 08:30 .pki drwxr-xr-x 3 root root 4096 Nov 6 08:30 OPCUAServer drwxr-xr-x 7 root root 4096 Nov 6 08:30 PlcLogic -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 13 Nov 6 08:30 SysFileMap.cfg -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 2640 Nov 29 2024 bacstac.ini drwxr-xr-x 4 root root 4096 Nov 6 08:30 cert -rw-r--r-- 1 root root 94105 Nov 7 07:25 codesyscontrol.log # # uname -a Linux Remote 6.1.22 #5 SMP PREEMPT Tue Nov 18 11:35:46 AEST 2025 aarch64 GNU/Linux #

Post by manuknecht on Opening a Dialog on a specific Client from ST CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I managed to find a solution that seems to work reliably. As the VU.Globals.CurrentClient-filter accesses the CURRENTCLIENTID or at least a similar, internal variable it can only be used if called from a certain client (e.g. from a button in a visualization). My solution works by implementing a new client filter that compares the client ID of all clients to the ID of the last client that was used. The variable containing the data of the last client is defined as: G_LastClient : VU.IVisualizationClient; // Copy of last client that detected click This last client is then updated every time a button is pressed using the Execute ST-Code input configuration of the button: G_LastClient := VU.PublicVariables.Clients.Current; Next, I created a function block that implements the client filter interface as so: FUNCTION_BLOCK FB_LastClientFilter IMPLEMENTS VU.IVisualizationClientFilter VAR_INPUT END_VAR VAR_OUTPUT END_VAR VAR END_VAR Then i added a method to the FB called IsAccepted which is used to filter out the client. When creating the method, it should automatically be filled with the according variable declaration, as it is defined in the interface: (* For every client can be desided, if it is accepted. ``TRUE``: Client is accepted*) METHOD IsAccepted : BOOL VAR_INPUT (* The client, to check*) itfClient : VU.IVisualizationClient; END_VAR Now the client can be compared to the last used client as such: // check if clientID corresponds to clientID of last recorderd client IF itfCLient.ClientId = G_LastClient.ClientId THEN IsAccepted := TRUE; ELSE IsAccepted := FALSE; END_IF To make use of this custom client filter, initialize a variable with the client filter: LastClient : FB_LastClientFilter; // Client filter to find last used client Then use this client filter when opening or closing a dialog from ST: fbOpenMyDialog(itfClientFilter:=LastClient,xExecute:=TRUE,sDialogName:='VIS_MyDialog_DLG');

Post by thommy54 on CODESYSControl_User cfg richtig konfigurieren CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Vielen Dank Thomas

Post by jeffg on ERROR: GetNetLinkSockAndInfoByMac(): could not open netlink socket: Too many open files CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I just installed codesys runtime on a raspberry pi Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.5GHz (Compute Module 4) I am running on Codesys control for raspberry pi 64 SL ver 4.13.0 and I keep getting a crash after about five to ten minutes. This program was running fine on a 32bit system with runtime 4.8 previously but they upgraded the panel PC cause it got smashed. Looking at the logs I see this error "ERROR: GetNetLinkSockAndInfoByMac(): could not open netlink socket: Too many open files" at the time of crash. I do have a UDP socket open for a serial to ethernet adapter and im wondering if maybe its opening a bunch of sockets and while receiving messages, Im not sending anything to the device only receiving. Below is the code used for the UDP VAR // Scale Comm fbPeerServer : NBS.UDP_Peer; ipAddress : NBS.IPv4Address; fbReceive : NBS.UDP_Receive; xPeerActiv : BOOL := TRUE; abyReceive : ARRAY [0..255] OF BYTE; sLastValidReceive : STRING(255); udiIndex : UDINT; END_VAR IF xPeerActiv AND NOT fbPeerServer.xBusy THEN ipAddress.SetInitialValue(ipAddress := gvlSettings.sIPAddres); fbPeerServer(xEnable := TRUE, itfIPAddress := ipAddress, uiPort := gvlSettings.uiPort); END_IF fbPeerServer(); fbReceive(xEnable := fbPeerServer.xBusy, itfPeer := fbPeerServer, pData := ADR(abyReceive), udiSize := SIZEOF(abyReceive)); IF fbReceive.udiCount > 0 THEN IF fbReceive.udiCount < SIZEOF(sLastValidReceive) THEN SysMem.SysMemCpy(pDest := ADR(sLastValidReceive), pSrc := ADR(abyReceive), udiCount := fbReceive.udiCount); // Set End of String sLastValidReceive[fbReceive.udiCount] := 0; END_IF END_IF If anyone as seen this I could really use some help figuring it out. I included the Log report

Post by timo on String nach erlaubten/unerlaubten Zeichen durchsuchen CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
