That solved it, thank you for the swift resolution! :) It would be fantastic ,if bandwidth permitting, the placeholder 'C:/temp' could be updated to 'C:\Program Files\CODESYS 3.5.19.60\GatewayPLC'. Anyway, thanks again for your assistance!

For the DynamicText error i have finally found a solution. You have to delete some libraries from your project. For me it was the WagoSysIcon library which wanted to reference dynamictexts even though i didn't have any in my project.

Hello, I am trying to emulate my code but for some reason my Codesys IDE keeps loosing connection to the emulator. I am constantly pinging virtual machine on which its running and its running fine, but codesys refuses to reconect to it, and is not able to rediscover it. Codesys 3.5 SP20 Patch 1 I have linux installed like image in attachment.(using version 4.12) Linux VM is set up to use up to 4 cores and 8gb of ram, with nothing else runing on it. I dont have a license so I am aware that the emulation shouldnt run for more then 120 minutes I am able to, login, get sysinfo, reboot etc from codesys IDE for certain period of time (5minutes) then my connection gets lost, sometimes I can login again, but sometimes i have to reboot the VM. Any suggestions what might be the issue ?

Hi, On a gantry system with 2 axis i am getting the following error: SMC_DI_FIELDBUS_LOST_SYNCRONICITY This happens random, sometimes it happens every 5 minutes and sometimes no error for 2 hours... The Setup: - Using codesys 3.5 SP20 with all latest libs... - Kontron AL Pi-Tron CM4 with Preempt realtime patch (Raspberry Pi 4) - Codesys runtime 4.11.0.0 (single core) - CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL licensed - Softmotion + CNC + Robotics licensed - 2x Leadshine EL8-EC400 servo drives - Axis group for a 2-axis T-Gantry Ethercat network wiring: Ethercat master softmotion -> Beckhoff EK1100 -> Servo drive #1 -> Servo drive #2 Ethercat Cycle time = 4ms Max Jitter = 140~150 What i have tried so far: - changed the sync offset from 20% to 30% - changed ethercat task priority from 1 to 0 Running tasks: - Ethercat tast: Prio = 0, Interval = 4ms - Main task: Prio = 1, Interval = 8ms - Visu task: Prio = 31, Interval = 100ms - Softmotion planning task: Prio = 15, Freewheeling - 3 other default tasks that were created by AC_Persist Motion fb's are called in the ethercat task... Does anyone have an idea how to fix this? Any help is greatly appreciated!

Hello, there in different information available regarding the possibility to run CODESYS Control for Linux SL on a virtual machine. https://forge.codesys.com/trg/linux-sl/home/Home/ says CODESYS Control for Linux SL is a runtime system, which can run on any Debian based X86 PC, VM or Cloud container... https://store.codesys.com/media/n98_media_assets/files/2302000005/3/CODESYS%20Control%20for%20Linux%20SL_de.pdf says CODESYS Control for Linux SL can not be used on virtual hardware Currently I run the package mentioned on a virtualized debian machine running in PROXMOX Virtual Environment 7.4-17 and apart from huge jitter it runs without problems. The CODESYS key is passed as a USB defice to the VM. I wonder why there are different statements regarding the suitability in virtual machines and if the jitter would be reduced by installing CODESYS runtime on the host installing CDS runtime on the host and using a preemptive kernel (if available for the PROXMOX installation leaving CDS runtime where it is (on the virtualized debian machine) and install a preemptive kernel on the host and on the guest... Really good post. I hope that it gets seen by CoDeSys staff. I often find the documentation lacking when it comes to using CoDeSys in more complex ways. If using standard "basic PLC functionality", then it's fine and functions are documented in a sufficient way. Once you go outside of that bubble then I find the documentation not enough. CODESYSControl.cfg is a good example of this. And why isn't more of this integrated in the IDE. like changing port of the webserver. Why is it hidden in this file and not accessible through the IDE. It feels like a layer of complexity purposely left in so you don't change it if you don't know what you are doing. Like the argument is if you have the know-how to find the file you have the know-how to edit it. I find the documentation lacking when it comes to more complex libraries too. Like the element collections library. there is parameters I still don't quite know what they do. I can't find any documentation about them. There is an example project to download from CoDeSys so you can see how you are supposed to set your factories up. I leave some parameters like it is in the example. Should I? I don't know. Does it work. Yes. But I could perhaps create memory leaks if I get something wrong and I don't see that until way later. In the create method of your element factory you have a function called __vfinit and you just have to accept that it works. Why can't I get insight in what it does through documentation? Don't CoDeSys want us to know how these work so we can't use them to accidentally break something? I find the error logging lacking too. I've had the CoDeSys service crash but it doesn't say why. I've seen windows noticing the crash but no error code was sent or error message. Also in my current issue where the application fails to start after power outage. I can see in the log that it fails to load retain in the application as one log entry and application failing to start as another. But why? Why does loading the retain fail? give me more information! Is it just a skill issue with me? I don't know. If it is then I'd still want CoDeSys to step up their game when it comes to documentation. I'm sorry if a lot of frustration comes though in this post. I really like the product and what I can do with it compared to other PLC brands.

Solved EN: The Problem is that the Codesys Edge-Gateways have a License with a runtime of an half year, as long the Gateways are online they will self renew themselfs. In my Case the RevPi was more than a year offline and so the Edge-Gateway was not working anymore. The solution: I accessed a laptop that was directly connected to the RevPi. I installed the Codesys service tool and renewed the certificate manual. DE: Das Propblem ist das die Codesys Edge-Gatways eine Lizenz haben die nur ein halbes Jahr gültig ist. Solange das Gateway eine Internet verbindung hat aktualisiert sich das Zertifikat von alleine. In meinem Fall war das Gateway aber über ein Jahr offline und hat somit nicht mehr funktioniert. Die Lösung: Ich hab auf einen Laptop von Kunden mit TeamViewer zugegriffen, der Laptop wurde mit Kabel direkt mit RevPi verbunden. Codesys Service Tool installiert und dann das Gatewayzertifikat aktualisiert.

Dear all, I am currently creating a program in the ST language. Because the program is starting to grow nicely I would like to switch to a more object-oriented way of programming. (Like for example in Python). By surfing the internet I found out that Function Blocks is the best method for this. Now I would like to delve further into this, with all the possibilities that Function Blocks have only I cannot find a clear course, explanation of what everything is around the function block thing and how to approach everything. I find the standard documentation around Function Blocks rather abstract and the examples are minimal. Therefore I am looking for a page/course/document explaining object oriented programming in Codesys (or other PLC programming environment). Do you have any recommendations on this?

Hi, How can i display targetvisualization in full screen on the target device? I installed Targetvisu For Linux SL 4.16.0.0 on target device which contains Raspberry PI 64bit PIXEL desktop. When i connect my PLC program to the remote targetvisu, the targetvisu displays for 60% horizontally. We contacted CODESYS and they said it is a bug. they had a workaround, and with the settings below added to the file /etc/codesysvisualization/CODESYSVisualizationTV.cfg, the targetvisualization display for 100%, but with the taskbar at the top. VisuClient.BestFit=1 ;VisuClient.ScaleTypeIsotropic=0 VisuClient.FillWholeBackground=1 [CmpTargetVisu] WindowPositionX=0 WindowPositionY=0 WindowSizeWidth=1280 WindowSizeHeight=800 WindowType=2 How can we let it display fullscreen without taskbar?

Hi everyone, I'm working on a multilingual help system within a CODESYS visualization project and have run into a limitation with the current text list (.tlx) functionality. Right now, text list entries only support plain text, which makes it very difficult to format longer help texts in a readable way. For example, I’d like to: Use bold headers and larger font sizes for section titles Display variable names or keywords in italics Avoid having to split content into dozens of separate entries just to apply different styles This becomes especially unmanageable when supporting multiple languages — duplicating layout logic across languages is not scalable. Would it be possible to implement a Markdown text functionality for text list entries ? For example: #Header ##Sub-header 1.ordered 2.list 3.fun 4.times Alternatively, is there any existing workaround or planned feature that allows for styled text blocks without fragmenting the content? Hey there, I am currently trying to find a good solution for the communication between CODESYS Control on Raspberry Pi and "the rest of the world", i. e. the things apart from CODESYS on my linux. My first approach was to use the c-integration. So I created a lib, defined extern fbs, compiled the code on my Pi using the SDK and put the .so into my lib project. When I try to log into the Pi and load the program, I get the error message which you can see in the attached picture. "Die dynamischen Module der C-Integration konnten nicht auf das Laufzeitsystem geladen werden" is german and means roughly "the modules from the c-integration could not be loaded onto the runtime system." Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I will have a look at the unix domain socket thing next, as I am still in the process of finding the best solution for the communication.

Hello eschwellinger, Thanks for your answer, with this I was finally able to make it work by doing the following : install CODESYS Control for Linux ARM SL v4.13.0 uninstall CODESYS Control for Linux ARM SL v4.13.0 and make sure to select "yes" when prompted to uninstall WIBU CodeMeter Lite Runtime (v8.10.6230.501) re-install "CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL" v4.13.0 It looks like the issue was probably related to the CodeMeter Runtime ? Hi, in my experience, the best options for such a case could be: 1. Pass a FunctionBlock via VAR_IN_OUT, containing all variables, mehods and properties needed for the logic of this graphic element (be aware of implementing correcly both get and set accessor for properties) 2. Pass an Interface via VAR_INPUT, of which you can use obviously only Properties and Methods. This is much more elegant for me. Here, you can just pass directly the instance of a FunctionBlock implementing such Interface as input. Hope you'll find this suggestions useful.

If you are a vendor of controllers and want to have your own CODESYS Runtime on your device, then you need to contact the CODESYS Sales team and ask for the runtime Toolkit. For resellers of CODESYS devices, this can be interesting. If it is only for a few devices, then why not just take the standard runtime?

Hi, In Codesys V3.5 SP20, using Data Source Manager I am trying to connect to the OPC UA server and receive tags from it. The connection is ok, but the Codesys have a problem with downloading Tags group. The window (downloadingTags.jpg in attachement) never stop. After waiting for a while, I disconnect the connection and only the Server group remains downloaded, with OPC UA server diagnostic data (and this is read in Codesys). Of course, I tried connected via another OPC UA client : UaExpert , and everything works as it should, all tags are downloaded (Uaexpert.jpg screen). Has anyone on the forum encountered the OPC UA client configuration in Codesys? Is it possible to manually request the appropriate tags from the OPC server for reading in Codesys?

Hello, I have a project using some EPEC PLC's. Some of them are programmable using Ethernet and some use CAN. We currently have a Raspberry Pi that is acting as a gateway to the Codesys Automation Server and is successfully working for the PLC's communicating over ethernet. I am trying to achieve a similar result for the PLC's that have only CAN access. I have PEAKCan drivers on the Pi, and can successfully send/receive messages. But the Gateway does not recognise the PLC when scanned from the Automation server online. Is there a library or service that exists to translate the CAN messaging, to the Edge Gateway, and be able to achieve remote access with the Automation Server? Or is this not possible without creating something custom? Cheers, Daniel

Hi manuknecht, the axis group currently always writes the axis set torque values. If no dynamic model has been configured for the axis group, then the set torques are written to 0. The solution for your use case is to call SMC_GroupUpdate [0] before you call SMC_SetTorque on the axes. This way, the axis group will write 0 to the set torques in the call to SMC_GroupUpdate(), and SMC_SetTorque then will write the desired set torque.
