Using Codesys runtime for Linux and thinking of the process of preparing multiple such systems for my customer. I don't necessarily have physical access to these units, they can be (very) remote. The idea so far is to use an image to install the Linux OS and codesys runtime. Application updates can be done by distribution of the PlcLogic/Application/application.app and application.crc files. But whats the most practical way of managing the license for these units? Do each controller need to be physically connected to a License Manager instance or can licenses be distributed by means of a license file for each unit? I believe that the license should be stored in soft containers for each unit. Help and insights appreciated! Per

You get an array of DWORD into your receive buffer. You need to process this into usable data, before you can fit it into your DUT. I've made it work using FbWrite_ToIEC_ByRule in stead of Fb_JSON_ParseAndModify. I've attached images of the code. You receive the data into ARRAY[0..1023] OF DWORD. Then you use that array as the input for fbWrite_ToIEC_ByRule. To get the output from this you define a rule to fit the expected data structure including nesting levels. The you feed the rule into FbWrite_ToIEC_ByRule and then you can set the output to be of your DUT type.

I don't seem to be able to use an axis, which is part of an Axis Group in torque control mode. I call the SMC_SetControllerMode FB to switch from position to torque control mode, followed by the SMC_SetTorque FB to set the desired torque. This works flawlessly for most axes, however if an axis is part of an axis group, switching the controller mode seems to work without any issues, but the desired torque is never set. SMC_SetTorque does not return an error, but fSetTorque of the axis is never changed. Disabling the axis group before does not change anything, but if I use MC_UngroupAllAxes before changing the controller mode, it all works as it should. Is there no way to control a single axis in torque control, if it is part of an axis group?

VarAccGetAddress does not return the correct address for TYPE_ARRAY or TYPE_USERDEF. When you use VarAccGetNode, it returns a proper IBaseTreeNode if you provide the full path of an array element or structure element, and it even provides the correct data type. The problem is that with TYPE_ARRAY, it returns the start address of the array rather than the indexed element. With TYPE_USERDEF, it only returns the offset of the element instead of the actual address. This causes many issues with nested structures or arrays of structures, since it requires manually calculating the address based on the parent IBaseTreeNode. See attached image and example.

and if you copy or transfer a project to another place, copy not only the .project, copy .compileinfo .bootinfo and .bootinfo_guids then we figured out it is more often possible to go online without full download. If you build an archiv and extract it, some of this files are missing and login isn't possible without download. I work with V3.5 SP16 Patch 4. I don't know if this problem of the archiv is solved in newer Versions/SP's and I don't know what the problem of Codesys is to help out a lot of programers of this very annoying problem or at least help with a workaround

Hello, I got a bit of a weird issue going on which is kind of annoying. So recently we switched a lot of Modbus IO to EtherCAT, as we were having issues with stability. All works fine, which is great. But sometimes when I change the program I get errors claiming that identifiers are not defined. Meaning I can't go online. See the picture below. I believe this is because some of these identifiers were used with Modbus, and they weren't properly removed/deleted? A clean all temporary fixes the issue, but it comes back again after a while of changing the code, and building. Any way to fix these non-existing required identifiers, or even find out where they are required? Thanks for the help in advance. Jasper.

Hi, yes now its working, to get "QUEUE.bFull" to work, I've had to set the "QUEUE.nNumReservedEntries" to 3. (I tried different values here, only effect for larger values i can see is the the queue capacity gets smaller.) I've noticed the movement is slowing down when it reaches the end of the "fill Up", must be because of the "checkVelocity" can only see the current "QUEUE". Any way of solving this ? Since parameterized (indexed) properties are not possible, I decided to use architectural approach "Indexing Property Adapter" to achieve the intended goal — avoiding code duplication for validated access to array elements. Essence: Create a Function Block Adapter (FB_PropertyAdapter) that encapsulates the logic for working with a single element of the target array (e.g., with one settings structure). Declare Properties inside the adapter block for accessing each individual field of the data structure. All validation logic is implemented within the Set accessors of these properties. Data Binding via VAR_IN_OUT: The adapter block receives a reference to a specific data element from the global array through its VAR_IN_OUT section, which ensures direct work with the original data without copying. Create an Array of Adapters: In the parent POU (e.g., FB_SettingsManager), an array of these adapter blocks is created — one for each element of the global array that needs to be managed. Initialize Bindings: In a FOR loop, each adapter instance from the array is given a reference to the corresponding data element. Result: This approach allows accessing the data via the index of the adapter array, and then through the property name, which simulates the behavior of an indexed property: MyAdapterArray[Index].MyProperty Thus, the validation and data access logic is written only once inside the adapter block and is then reused multiple times by creating instances of it in an array. This completely solves the problem of code duplication while providing a clean, scalable, and object-oriented architecture compatible with standard CODESYS features. Question closed.

Hi everyone, I am still having device logon problem following a fresh install Here are the STEPS I went through following a FRESH CODESYS Win 64 3.5.19.60 install on a different computer. ‘Gateway not configured properly’ when attempting to REFRESH from the Users and Groups. Then did Gateway manage and confirmed it was ok: This message popped out as it was a fresh install: YES then: Initially went with Administrator twice (user & password) but it did not like it. No device is responding to …: Continued by setting a new user Pressed OK and obtained the following message: Stopped and Restarted PLC at that point: Obtained the following: Attempted to login a 2nd time without success. Then I scanned the network to see if matching device can be detected: Only way to get it detected was to remove the tick in the ‘Hide non-matching devices…’ Attempted a WINK but got a return like this one: REFRESH either @ Users and Groups or @ Access Rights returns: Then created user ‘mp’ at Project level ang logged in: Understandably device user mp9876 was not valid for the Project. Device information A few questions comes to my mind following these connection attempts: 1- Gateway not configured properly message pops out because of a non-compatible device ? 2- Why would the device not be compatible ? 3- Any way to make the device compatible ? 4- Any ideas on how to get this connectivity problem to the device solved ?

I'd like to know if it is possible to have the "Name" field, in the recipe definition, language dependent. Something like to have the possibility to put there a string ID that will be add to the GlobalTextList. In this way it can be translated and when showed in a Visualization screen its value depend on the current language. Thanks.

Hi everybody We are currently working on a project with an RS232 serial COM interface and using the CAA SerialCOM library. We have it working fine reading and writing data, although we have found an issue we cannot resolve and any suggestions would be helpful. We have noticed that after a while the RS232 stops working. We have tracked this down to the HANDLE hCom keeps increasing and when this reaches 1023 the COM returns an unknown error "5003". Is there a way to reset this hCom reference? Thanks Richard

The generic sensor FB is for controlling the sensor via its cyclic input (PDI) and output (PDO). In this case, ifm raw cyclic input and output data are WORDs (16 bits total) The PDO data from the Buerkert unit are SINT (8 bits) In this case, I would use the unpackword fb from the CAA memory library to unpack the valve feed back value into the appropriate location.

Hallo, du solltest dir angewöhnen Präfixe für die Datentypen zu nutzen. Dann ist das auch lesbarer. Aus value wird rValue für ein REAL oder wValue für ein WORD. Daher ist jetzt nicht ersichtlich mit welchen Datentypen du dort arbeitest und was die Bausteine an den EIN- und Ausgängen erwarten. Du kannst aber explizit eine Typkonvertierung durchführen indem du am Ausgang noch einen Baustein "TO_WORD" setzt.

Hello, I have been trying to use the ModbusFB functions so I can put some code into libraries, but it seems to be very slow for me. I have a Modbus device with 100ms registers. I previously setup 10 channels in the 'traditional' Modbus Slave with channels and mappings - and set a cyclic trigger at 100ms - this worked fine. I then tried the ModbusFB example, and setup reading the same 10 blocks of modbus addresses, copying the example and putting all of the requests into an array and triggering the requests sequentially. I timed how long the requests are taking to get round to each one, and it is around 1s 450ms. How do I speed this up to match the cyclic time? As the customers has a lot of different configurations out in the field, we went for a dynamic Ethercat configuration. Already got the whole detection chain working but now I am stuck since two days in debugging the configuration. Here are my quesitons: I extended the dynamic config example for the EL3632 16#0E303052: //EL3632 pSlave^.SetDCSettings(TRUE,TRUE,80,80,TRUE,4000,0,0); pSlave^.AddSyncManager(16#1000,128,16#26,TRUE,3); pSlave^.AddSyncManager(16#1080,128,16#22,TRUE,2); pSlave^.AddSyncManager(16#1100,0,16#4,TRUE,1); pSlave^.AddSyncManager(16#1110,214,16#20,TRUE,0); pSlave^.AddFMMU(0,214,0,7,16#1110,0,1,1); pSlave^.AddFMMU(0,1,0,0,16#80D,0,1,1); xKnown := TRUE; This leads to a PLL Error for these devices. I double and triple checked the configuraton, but cannot find the issue. There seems to be one difference: the config dialog creates a startup parameter: 16#10F3:16#05, Name: Command_0, Value:0. Bitlen: 16, Stop on fault: false, jumpt at fault: false: next line: 0 a) I do not find information on how to set this in my code. Can you help me there? b) Without trying to set the value, I get a PLL error for these devices in the master log. Is the config wrong? c) Do I need to set the Master to Autoconfigure or Manual? I used autoconfigure for my tests. The stack creates input data addresses for the slaves input data range (pSlaves[i].InputData) which are different from those created when I use the Engineering tools dialogs to configure Ethercat. Specifically, the addresses seem to be aligned at 16 byte boundaries when they are created using the engineering tool, but may appear at uneven addresses when I use the script in dynamic config. I did not try to access ULINT at uneven addresses yet, but I am suspecting this may be a problem. Do I need to manually align the addresses ? Any help is appreciated...

Thank you for an answer. Unfortunatelly, it doesn't work. The slave needs command byte as follows 0x22. It means expedited transfer where s-bit is not set, therefore data length is not specified. If I use segmented mode by CiA405.SDO_WRITE_DATA it produce command byte as follows 0x21 which is unfortunately supported by the slave and it returns with error 0x05040001 - SDO Abort Code -Client/server command specifier not valid or unknown. I can use CAN API low level to overcome this problem where it is possible to set 0x22 as a command byte, but than I can use user interface to set the communication probably, because I thing that machine expert uses library CiA405.SDO_WRITE for setting the slave. Or am I wrong?
