Hi, I'm trying to launch a continuously running python script from Codesys and monitor the script status inside the Codesys runtime (running on a Linux enviroment). For now I'm testing with the below to emulate a continuously running Python script: #test.py i = 0 while True: i += 1 I'm able to successfully run the script using SysProcessExecuteCommand2 (I can see the Python process running in the task manager). However, this "freezes" the Codesys execution of the task - it sits on that command and will not continue until the Python script ends. I've proven this works by using the task monitor to kill the process, then Codesys continues on happily through the task. What I want to do is use SysProcessCreate2 to set up the Python script as a background task and monitor the process using SysProcessGetState. This always results in the error "ERR_OPERATION_DENIED". I know that I'm able to execute commands (as above), so my config should be correct. Is SysProcessCreate2 functional on a Linux environment? Is there something in the config file I'm missing? Solved EN: The Problem is that the Codesys Edge-Gateways have a License with a runtime of an half year, as long the Gateways are online they will self renew themselfs. In my Case the RevPi was more than a year offline and so the Edge-Gateway was not working anymore. The solution: I accessed a laptop that was directly connected to the RevPi. I installed the Codesys service tool and renewed the certificate manual. DE: Das Propblem ist das die Codesys Edge-Gatways eine Lizenz haben die nur ein halbes Jahr gültig ist. Solange das Gateway eine Internet verbindung hat aktualisiert sich das Zertifikat von alleine. In meinem Fall war das Gateway aber über ein Jahr offline und hat somit nicht mehr funktioniert. Die Lösung: Ich hab auf einen Laptop von Kunden mit TeamViewer zugegriffen, der Laptop wurde mit Kabel direkt mit RevPi verbunden. Codesys Service Tool installiert und dann das Gatewayzertifikat aktualisiert.

Hello codesys forum, My company is looking at developing a solution with Codesys ARM SL. The requirements will not tax the capabilities of Codesys. I would like to buy an AMR 7 or 8 Dev Board for experimenting. I am looking for a recommendation as I have minimal experience with Linux. Any input from the forum would be most appreciated as the hardware requirements as provided by Codesys for ARM SL seem pretty minimal (basically a arm7 or 8 with Debian is all). Our needs are small in scale- something like 8 digital inputs, 6 digital outputs, 2 analog inputs and 1 analog output. A small gui will be published via web visualization for external display (no local display). Communications with ModbusTCP and uart/RS485. It may be necessary to access i2c and make c or python calls to some existing code that is pretty small. Something like the EMCraft STM32MP1 SOM Starter Kit or Octavo Systems OSD32MP1-RED development board? Ideally something that has a path to a SoM for production. Kontron appears to have some interesting options too. Just having a hard time deciding where to start. Thanks in advance... LC

Hallo, da Wago nun von eCockpit zum offenen "CODESYS Development System V3" wechselt, möchte ich meinen bestehenden 750-8212 von der PFC200 SL auf die Wago Firmware umstellen. Welche Schritte sind dabei notwendig? Den Controller würde ich auf die aktuelle FW 26 updaten und die 3.5.19.2 von Wago mit den Descriptions verwenden. Reicht es im Codesys Projektbaum mit "Gerät aktualisieren" auf den Wago Controller zu wechseln? Es wird dann statt dem "Pfc200Bus"ein leerer K-Bus und ein leerer Com-Port angezeigt. Müssen die einzelnen Module dann darunter neu angelegt und alle E/A Variablen manuell neu eingetragen werden? Das exportieren und danach wieder importieren funktioniert nicht, weil die Namen bzw. Adressen unterschiedlich sind. Ist das so richtig? Kann der Block "Modbus_COM_Port - Modbus_Master_COM_Port - Modbus_Slave" so bleiben wie bisher oder muss das auch unter dem neuen COM-Port neu angelegt werden? Für ein paar Hinweise wäre ich dankbar. Hello, For my program I need an extended pulse timer, which can be referred to as a retriggerable pulse timer. Where every rising edge of the input resets the elapsed time zero, extending the lenght of the output pulse. The Codesys pulse timer (TP) is a one-shot timer and only resets the elapsed time with the falling edge of the input. There is also a pulse timer (LTP) in codesys, but in my simulation it was also functioning as a one-shot even though the description sounds like LTP should be retriggerable. I have uploaded some timing plots from another PLC program for reference. I am looking for a timer equivalent to the "TEP" diagram. Is there an Extended Pulse Timer in Codesys? Maybe there is a way to manipulate the input so it resets the elapsed time outside the function block?

I use Peak USB adapter daily to download from CoDeSys 2.3 and 3.5 to IFM, EPEC and other controllers. The process: - First you need to install the appropriate driver. Link: https://www.peak-system.com/Drivers.523.0.html?&L=1 - Restart the computer - Start the CoDeSys application - Change the name of the adapter in Communication parameters, as mentioned in previous comment. Write the name exactly as written "Peak_USB", as it could also be case sensitive (defines which .dll file to use). If this doesn't work I would contact the vendor of the controller to find out the procedure. In the attachment I've added a FAQ document from IFM regarding using PCAN USB. P.S. I've noticed in your picture of communication parameters a channel via TCP/IP is mentioned. In this case a USB to CAN connection is not being used. First you should change the channel/gateway to connect via CANbus or connect using an Ethernet cable.

Noob alert! I’m just getting my feet wet with CODESYS. I have a “Hello World” project in the CODESYS IDE. I’m using the Win SoftPLC on the same computer. I’ve added a Communication Manager under the Application node. Under that is “OPC UA Server -> IEC Symbol Publishing 01”. I also added “OPC_UA_Symbols -> Information Model”. I’m not sure I need the second thing. I was grasping at straws. I also set up several dummy symbols in the IEC Symbol Publishing 01 node. In my C# application, I am trying to get an instance of EndpointDescription from CoreClientUtils.SelectEndpoint(“opc.tcp://localhost:1217/Gateway-1”, useSecurity: false, 15000). I wasn’t sure about the “Gateway-1”. I found that in the CODESYS IDE under the project -> Communication Settings. When I execute the previous method call in C#, I get: “BadSecureChannelClosed”. I have no idea what that means. Any pointers to documentation are welcome.

Hello, I am trying to emulate my code but for some reason my Codesys IDE keeps loosing connection to the emulator. I am constantly pinging virtual machine on which its running and its running fine, but codesys refuses to reconect to it, and is not able to rediscover it. Codesys 3.5 SP20 Patch 1 I have linux installed like image in attachment.(using version 4.12) Linux VM is set up to use up to 4 cores and 8gb of ram, with nothing else runing on it. I dont have a license so I am aware that the emulation shouldnt run for more then 120 minutes I am able to, login, get sysinfo, reboot etc from codesys IDE for certain period of time (5minutes) then my connection gets lost, sometimes I can login again, but sometimes i have to reboot the VM. Any suggestions what might be the issue ?

ditto I'm just getting my codesys wheels on and the modbus stuff is confusing. I am re-platforming an existing PLC application On that platform one could simply tag variables to register numbers and the whole shooting match could be accessed via modbus and typically holding registers and input registers were treated the same way... On codesys I see there is a modbus TCP server Device I/O mapping tab and a Modbus TCP server IEC objects tab I get the sense that one can configure the serving of variables both/either way but am unclear about the optimum/necessary path. Apparently in the IEC Objects tab one can "ADD" something or other - presumeably channels. I have created a preliminary function block but the Select Function Block window shows nothing to select WTH ? I exported the Device mapping and was surprised to see the entire Device IO map - complete with all the bit-mapped holding/input registers!! WTH!!?? Bit-mapped words are strictly a nichey special purpose application. I am targetting making a couple hundred variables available which would turn into hundreds of pages of IO/mapping Is the FUnction Block IEC objects thingy an alternative to that ? I notice that CODESYS shows the tags which the PLC used to specify the register address... are tags used in CODESYS for any specific hard-core purpose ?

Hello everyone, I'm hoping for some assistance with a license activation issue: a software crash has left my license in a strange state. Here is the sequence of events: I purchased a new license for the Raspberry PI from the official CODESYS web store. I opened the CODESYS and started the online activation process using the ticket number I received. During the activation, the CODESYS software threw an exception and crashed. I was not able to see if the activation completed. After restarting CODESYS, I attempted to run the activation process again with the same ticket number. The License Manager now gives me an error stating that the ticket has already been activated/used. I am now stuck because my installation is not licensed, but the activation server believes my ticket has been consumed. Has anyone encountered this before? Is there a way to have the ticket status reset?

Hi, when it comes about license, I used INVTmatic Studio, which uses Codesys, for programming INVT plc. I bought Codesys Modbus license, it was not expensive, and then realised that INVT didn't have License Manager option (greyed out in program) which is needed for using of Codesys License. I contacted support from INVT, but developers told me that option is still not available. So depending on environment for programming Codesys, you can or not use Modbus license. Good thing about this version of Modbus TCP it works both direction. I could send commands and receive feedbacks from drive. But communication stops after 30 mins. So I used simple version of ethernet modbus which is somewhere in INVT or Condesys library (I can check tomorrow) which works only one way. I could send cmd to drive, and control it, but didn't have any feedback, like some readings back in PLC. which is bad, but at least I could start it and it didn't fail after 30 mins.

Guten Tag, ich möchte Rezepte verwenden. Mit Codesys 3.5.10.30 habe ich dabei auch keine Probleme. Mit Codesys 3.5.17.0 habe ich dabei auf fast allen Computern keine Probleme, lediglich bei meinem Laptop kann ich das Kontextmenü, welches es mir ermöglicht, Einträge zu lesen, schreiben, usw. nicht öffnen. Stattdessen kommt lediglich ein Standard-Menü, welches mir Kopieren, Einfügen usw. anbietet - hier ist das allerdings wenig hilfreich. Der Installer sowie das Projektarchiv sind auf allen Geräten identisch, ein Problem mit dem Projekt selber schließe ich also aus. Ich habe schon versucht, Codesys 3.5.17.0 neu zu installieren. Dazu habe ich die alte Version deinstalliert, und danach auch den Ordner "C:\Programme (X86)\Codesys 3.5.17.0" gelöscht. Mehr wollte ich ahnungslos nicht entfernen, und da ich bisher keinen Erfolg hatte, bitte ich euch um eure Unterstützung. Hat jemand eine Idee, was das Problem verursacht? Wo macht es Sinn, nachzuschauen? Kennt jemand genau das Problem vielleicht sogar? Falls ich mich unklar ausgedrückt habe, bitte ich um Rückfragen, dann versuche ich mein Problem entsprechend weiter zu erklären. Für jede Unterstützung bin ich dankbar! Viele Grüße Frank

Hi, We are currently using a Raspberry Pi 4 CM4 module in a EdgeBox RPI 200 - Industrial Edge Controller running the latest CODESYS Runtime Package 4.11.0.0. On the PC (actually an Intel Macbook Pro running Windows 10 in Parallels) we run CODESYS V3.5.19.50. Yesterday end of day when I was about to logoff and head home, I wanted to send the latest build to the Raspberry I clicked the Login button to compile a new version and then sync the application and all the files, it get's stuck on the last file to sync (see attached screenshot). This takes eternally, although sometimes, when I use my SFTP client (Cyberduck) and go into the raspberry and refresh the directory /var/opt/codesys/PlcLogic/visu/, or when I open the actual file visuelemsdatetime.tl_datetime.txt, it gets un-stuck (forcing a refresh, which might fix the syncing issue) and CODESYS continues and I can click the Start button to start the application. But this SFTP force refresh trick does not always help either... What could be the issue here? network connectivity? Can someone please help me out?

Ich habe Modelle in SiOME hinzugefügt, eine Software zum Entwerfen von Knoten und zum Hinzufügen von Instanzen. und erstellte eine resultierende XML-Datei. Ich habe versucht, die XML-Datei über das OPC UA-Informationsmodell-Repository in Codesys zu importieren. Das Problem besteht darin, dass ich nicht weiß, wie ich meine von mir entworfenen Objekte anzeigen soll. und ordne es meiner SPS zu, um es auf meinem Server UaExpert sichtbar zu machen. Aber es zeigt Ihnen nur, wie Sie das Informationsmodell hinzufügen, und mein resultierendes Modell hat keinen Informationstyp. Wie kann ich also in Codesys ein Modell anzeigen, das ich in SiOME entworfen und meine Instanzen (Objekte, Variablen oder Methoden) meinen Variablen in der SPS zugeordnet habe? Ich habe Leute gesehen, die es in Tia Portal oder einer anderen Software gemacht haben, aber ich habe keine Ahnung, wie man es auf CODESYS macht

Hi Dear All, I'm using my raspberry PI4 as a CoDeSyS PLC (Build from scratch with custom electronics). I was able to implement all fieldbuses with the exception of Modbus Serial. I'm using the internal Port (GPIO) and I configured it in /etc/Codesyscontrol_user.cfg the following away: [SysCom] Linux.Devicefile.1=/dev/ttyUSB0 Linux.Devicefile.2=/dev/ttyS0 I'm using COM2 on Master configuration. I'm using a interface board from TTL/RS485 (bidirectional board), and it's works perfectly with other devices but not in CoDeSyS. I'm able to send data with python script and read it on my pc using putty, but when I use a modbus slave simulator to interface with codesys I always get red icons on master and slave. (Please find image attached). I'm pretty shure that this might be a bad parameter on my CoDeSyS runtime configurstion file. Can someone help me? I'm stuck and this is for my master degree certification.

Hello mates, I'm working with CODESYS V3.5 SP20 on a Raspberry Pi and I use "Raspberry Pi MC SL" as device on the project. I've installed the Control Standard L (multicore) license on a Wibu System usb-Dongle (cmStick/4.50) that already had another license from another vendor. I follow the online activation procedure from CODESYS documentation. Raspberry Pi has already CodeMeter installed for the other license. When I plugin the dongle on Raspberry and start the Runtime from Raspberry Pi Update in CODESYS I receive the message that I'm on Demo mode because the license is missing. I double checked that the license is activated in the dongle, through the WebAdmin of CodeMeter and the second license runs properly without any issue. I have already try to change the dongle from HID to MSD device and backward but the the Runtime cannot recognize the Dongle. I have also try to stop and start the Runtime through CODESYS without success. Is there anything else I can do to fix this issue?

What we are trying to explain is that, yes CODESYS creates the software, but Epis decides how they implement it on their hardware, which runtime version they use and they decide which functionality they support. So it is always a combination of the two. What CODESYS provides is a runtime with options for e.g. visualization or softmotion. Epis could add this softmotion license as default to their controller, but if they don't then CODESYS provides another option with a single license in a "Wibu CodeMeter" container. Eventhough the feature exists, Epis has to add this "CodeMeter" software on their controller to be able to access the licenses in the container. We don't know if they did this. Then finally it depends on what type of runtime is on this controller and which license Epis is using. So if they have an OEM license (not an application based license), then most likely you will need the Softmotion license (not a number of axis). See https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-softmotion-sl-bundle.html. But to be sure if this is supported by the Epis controller, you must ask Epis.

I have a Python program that will handle things in my application such as VISA over IP and Telnet control of instruments. I want the main control and HMI in Codesys. My problem is communication between the two. I have looked at several ways to accomplish this, and settled on having the Python program create two named pipes, one to send information to Codesys, and one for Codesys to send information to Python. The information would be packetized with \n for end of packet.. Seems simple. I think the named pipes method should work, but file reading in Codesys using the CAA file library starts to get difficult when the file is never ending, as in this case. Before I spend too much time making something that may be fundamentally flawed I want to ask. Is there a better way? Is there a way to read the file 'one line at a time' which might solve my never ending file problem? Thanks!

Hello, Codesys IDE is 3.5.21.30 IoDrvBase is: 3.5.17.8 I am working on implementing Codesys on our I/O product line, using the IO driver examples, and the Linux UDS socket approach. I have sucessfully created an implemetation where I have a Device with mutiple slots, on which I can plug modules. These modules represent our IO modules, and communication is successful. (For this question the assumtion can be made that Codesys commucates with 1 'master' device, which handles further communcation with the IO modules. For the next part of the question it can be assumed that the Master device has a list of which modules are attached/available) I'm now trying to implement the 'Scan for Devices...' feature, but I'm completetly lost on what to do once the IoDrvScanModules method is called in my IoDrvFB. I'm guessing that the ppConnectorList has to be filled with the found devices, but I have no idea if that is the correct approach. And Codesys is not triggering my breakpoints in the method, which makes things more difficult. I hope someone could provide some examples or guidance on what steps I should take to implement the scan feature. Thanks in advance.

Hallo Zusammen, ich arbeite aktuell an einer Applikation, bei der im OPC-UA-Server eines Geräts ein Methodenaufruf implementiert ist, der für die Ansteuerung des Geräts erforderlich ist. Meine Steuerung agiert in diesem Fall als OPC-UA-Client und kommuniziert mit dem entsprechenden Server. Mit der Software UaExpert oder über eine entsprechende Hochsprache lässt sich der Methodenaufruf problemlos ausführen. Die Umsetzung im IEC-Code in CODESYS ist wohl etwas komplexer, wie ich festgestellt habe. Ich habe aktuell folgende Dinge schon ausprobiert: Symbolkonfiguration Diese entfällt in meinem Fall, da die Symbolkonfiguration nur die Funktionalität für einen OPC-UA Server bereitstellt (Oder?). Da meine Steuerung als Client agiert, kann ich diese Funktion wohl nicht nutzen. Kommunikationsverwalter Diesen kann ich aktuell nur eingeschränkt nutzen, da der Gerätehersteller mit kein Offline-Informationsmodell zur Verfügung stellt / oder stellen möchte. Über das Standardinformationsmodell der OPC-UA-Foundation werden lediglich nur die digitale Signale integriert, jedoch nicht die Methodenaufrufe. CODESYS OPC-UA Client/Server API Hierzu existiert zwar ein Beispielprojekt von CODESYS, jedoch ist die Bibliotheksdokumentation doch sehr knapp gehalten. Für mich ist dies nur relativ schwer zu rekonstruieren. (Aber vielleicht ein Ansatz?) Hat von euch schon jemand Erfahrungen zu dieser Thematik gemacht? Oder ist die Funktionalität im OPC-UA-Stack von CODESYS derzeit noch nicht bzw. nur eingeschränkt implementiert? Hat hier jemand weitere Informationen oder Tipps für mich? Danke schonmal im Voraus!

Hi, I'm using codesys v3.5 sp21 software. I have downloaded the sample opc ua client project from https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Examples/_ex_uacapi_example.html and i tested connecting to "prosys opc ua simulation server". Through Anonymous connection it is connecting to server and can read data. Later tried to connect using username and password. First got a SECURITY_CHECKS_FAILED error, trusted the client certificate in the server and this issue resolved. Next got an INVALID_CERTIFICATE error, trusted the server certificate in the client and this issue resolved. After these two error it is not establishing the connection and not giving any error messages. Hallo zusammen, ich habe ein hartnäckiges Problem mit der CODESYS-Visualisierung und hoffe auf eure Expertise. In meinem Projekt wird die Toolbox ("Werkzeuge") für die Visualisierung komplett leer angezeigt, es lassen sich also keine Basis-Elemente wie Rechtecke oder Kreise in die Zeichenfläche ziehen. Mein System: CODESYS V3.5 SP22 Patch 2 (64-bit) Device / Compiler-Version: 3.5.22.20 Das Kuriose:Das eigentliche Projekt läuft absolut einwandfrei. Mein Programmcode lässt sich ohne Probleme übersetzen, die SPS-Logik funktioniert fehlerfrei und auch die Simulation läuft einwandfrei durch. Nur das "Gesicht" des Projekts fehlt. Zwischendurch tauchte in den Meldungen der Fehler auf: Die Bibliothek '#System_VisuElems' konnte nicht aufgelöst werden. Was ich bereits zur Fehlerbehebung versucht habe: Installer-Check: Im CODESYS Installer geprüft, ob das Add-on "CODESYS Visualization" installiert ist (ist vorhanden und aktiv). Profil erzwungen: Im Visualisierungsmanager das Visualisierungsprofil manuell auf die aktuellste Version gesetzt. Gerät aktualisiert: Das Device im Projektbaum per Rechtsklick sauber auf die Version 3.5.22.20 hochgezogen. Clean Build: Mehrfach "Alles bereinigen" ausgeführt und neu übersetzt. Neues Projekt: Selbst wenn ich ein komplett neues Standardprojekt anlege, fehlen die Werkzeuge in der Visualisierung weiterhin. Hat jemand von euch eine Idee, woran das noch liegen könnte? Gibt es unter Windows eventuell einen versteckten Cache-Ordner für die Visualisierungs-Bibliotheken, den man manuell leeren muss? Für jeden Tipp wäre ich sehr dankbar! Viele Grüße

To shutdown the TargetVisu: Add the VisuElemBase library to your project then call VisuElemBase.Visu_PRG.RemoveAllTargetVisuClients(); Exemple: PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR xShutdownTargetVisu: BOOL; END_VAR ---------------------------------- IF xShutdownTargetVisu THEN xShutdownTargetVisu := FALSE; VisuElemBase.Visu_PRG.RemoveAllTargetVisuClients(); END_IF I tried calling RemoveAllTargetVisuClients() directly from a button mouse click event but it makes the Visu crash. So better using the code above and just set xShutdownTargetVisu to TRUE from the button. Works fine for me. To start the TargetVisu: From a cmd prompt. This will start the TargetVisu C:\Program Files\CODESYS\CODESYS Control RTE3>VisualClientController.exe --application=Application --flags=1 You can then place a .bat file on the desktop and put this inside: CD "C:\Program Files\CODESYS\CODESYS Control RTE3" VisualClientController.exe --application=Application --flags=1 exit Double clicking the .bat file will start the TargetVisu. You may need to replace the Application name by your own application name. Good to know: In the cmd above, if you replace --flags=1 by --flags=2, it will shutdown the TargetVisu.

To change the color of search result markings (the "find color") in the CODESYS Text Editor using Themes, follow these steps: Go to the menu: Tools → Options. In the Options dialog, select the Text editor category. Switch to the Theme tab. Here, you can select your desired color theme for the text editor. The available color schemes (themes) are stored in the installation directory in the Themes folder. To specifically adjust the color for search result markings, go to the Text Area tab within the Text editor options. Here, you can customize the Selection color – Inactive parameter, which determines the color used to highlight search results. Changing the theme will apply a new set of color settings, including those for selections and search highlights.
