@gepert, When you say "I do not turn off power", are you saying you don't power off the drive, or you don't turn of the MC_POWER function block? I read your statement as you don't kill actual electrical power. MC_POWER should stay enabled. @Gustavo, not related to problem at all, but when you say 1.6 Nm is only enough torque to unscrew a loose bottle cap, I think that's a bit low. A quick mental math I use is 1 Nm is almost the same force as 1kG applied to a 10cm wrench. So 1.6kG applied to a 10cm wrench is still not a huge force, but more than enough to be felt if trying to turn the shaft by hand.

I had a similar situation recently where this didn't work, but read to the end to see the solution. The reason is that CODESYS only downloads visualisations (dialogs) if they are part of the project or linked to the project. In your case the dialog is not loaded onto the controller. But the solution is pretty simple: Double click on the Visualization Manager in your application. Select the Tab "Visualizations". Here you can see that your dialog is not "checked". Do this manually and load your project on the controller. Then your code should be able to open the dialog, because now it exists on the controller.

😁 Yes, exactly... I have a clue about the why not... But really, it was many years, releases ago... Agree, this is not a functionality customers would pay for, but it's one rendering the product cool and contemporary. Like many other "simple" features like: Opening multiple projects within the same IDE Not just attaching, but editing diverse files inside the IDE (like XML, TXT, SVG?) Use 3rd, CODESYS independent plugins, editors inside the IDE... Isn't it possible to integrate CODESYS Engineering under VS? Or just use the core functionality from VS? Or the LINUX guys have a better idea?

Hi @niallel, it is currently not possible to create periodic cams using SMCB.BoundImplicit(). If you want to create a periodic cam which does not start/end with all slaves values equal to zero, then you must specify the boundary conditions explicitly using SMCB.Bound(). When you finished your cam, you can check via CamBuilder.CheckContinuity(), if the cam fulfills the continuity requirements for a periodic cam (see input isPeriodic). But you are right, it should be possible to create periodic cams using implicit boundary conditions. Hello! Opening a project from a python script given at the CODESYS command line does not work for me with a file based storage project. Example: Running projects.open("test.project", primary = True) works but converting the project to a file based storage project and then give the folder name as an argument to project.open Running projects.open("test.fbsproj", primary = True) does not work. We decided to work with file based storage for the project. Is there a scripting API for file-based storage to e.g. convert it while running the script back or how to open file based storage project with projects.open? Thank you! voffi

Following up on the invalid user authentication on the target Not 100% sure what the problem was but following my post I managed to create an administrator level user. Then my next issue was that I could not connect to the device. I might have flipped the device from a 64 bit version to a 32 bit version so I did UPDATE DEVICE back to the 64 bit version; still could not connect somehow. Then I did two things at the same time that fixed my problem: Wiped the Codesys Control Win 64 bit version and installed the 32 bit version Installed latest Codesys Control Win V3.5 SP20 (released today) I wish I knew which one of these actions fixed the problem but at least the problem is solved. Hoping this post may help someone one day

The only issue remaining is that when connecting to a device and obtaining its public key, the NCryptEncrypt function is called, which is not fully implemented in the DLL source code, resulting in the connection not being established. Hi @eschwellinger, I tried this with Modbus COM slaves. I was able to disable them (slave becomes greyed out in the device tree), but the DED.Reconfigure "eError" output shows "NOT_SUPPORTED". After this, when I tried to re-enable the slave, it did not work (device stayed greyed out in the device tree), and the DED.Reconfigure "eError" output also showed "NOT_SUPPORTED". Is there something to do about this, or the device just doesn't support reconfiguration? P.S: I tried this running locally on my computer (not in simulation mode). So of course I was not physically connected to the devices. I have two similar projects, but one of them doesn't have the Modbus_COM devices. I know I can "Exclude from build" the devices for that project, but I would really prefer not to do this if possible. I would prefer to dynamically toggle a configuration variable that would enable or disable the slaves.

Im struggling with the AC Persistence. AC persistence seems to work for any variable that is changed online and values are kept during reboot. However, if I try to edit the persistence files offline or replace the persistence files with a previously downloaded older persistence file (with modified values), the online value will not follow, as if the system did not at all read the file at boot? My testing sequence. - Edit a the value of a persistenced variable (with xSaveOnChange = True) - Save/download the associated persistence file, (and confirm the value has changed). - Edit the value online for a second time . - Stop runtime - Replace (upload) the persistence file with my previously downloaded file . - Coldstart/Warmstart/Start runtime - Whatever Im trying the value of my persistence variable will always be equal to that of my second edit as if the file is not read/considered during boot. What am I doing wrong?

Hi I am trying to import a custom information model that I created using UA Modeler. I have only added two new methods and two new object types. It is possible to add the information model to the Communication Manager and the two new object types are shown in the Information Model tab. After compiling i get the following error: Communication Manager [Device: PLC Logic: Application]: The information model http://opcfoundation.org/UA/ is required by http://yourorganisation.org/Bsp_3.1/ with a minimal publication date from 15.12.2023 but the device has only a model from 15.09.2021 installed. Probably the information model from 15.09.2021 is missing in the information model repository. The error message does not make sense to me. Should it not be “Probably the information model from 15/12/2023 is missing in the information model repository”? Anyway I have installed the information model from 15/12/2023 but not from 15/09/2021. Which makes the error message even stranger.

Issue 1 — First row not displayed when using Maximum array index with 1-based arrays Description: When displaying data from an array that is indexed starting from 1 (e.g., ARRAY[1..N]), and the number of displayed rows is limited using the Maximum array index property, the first row of the array is not shown in the visualization. Steps to reproduce: Create an array indexed from 1 (e.g., ARRAY[1..N]). Bind the array to a Table element. Limit the number of displayed rows using the Maximum array index property. Run the visualization. Actual result: The first array element (index 1) is not displayed in the table. Issue 2 — Tooltip string placeholder cannot be bound to string variable from array Description: It is not possible to use a string placeholder in the tooltip that is bound to a string variable from the array. Steps to reproduce: Use a table bound to an array containing string variables. Configure a tooltip using a string placeholder referencing a string field from the array. Run the visualization. Actual result: Tooltip doesn't show any text. A test project demonstrating both issues is attached. Thank you for your time and support.

Hi, I have a project currently in development, it has a number of Ethernet/IP devices (18 adapter devices with Codesys as scanner, another scanner device with codesys as adapter). This has been stable whilst on factory floor for several months (though prior to that I did have some Ethernet/IP issues which were resolved by adjusting RPI rates). Today I tried updating to Ethernet /IP 4.6.0 from 4.5.1, subsequent to this I had 2 exceptions in a 2 hour period, I reverted to 4.5.1 and have had no further exceptions. Note I do have a device (Zebra printer) that frequently times out and reconnects, this does not seem to cause any issues in operation and does not cause any exceptions with 4.5.1. I believe the root cause of this is on the Zebra side, however there does not seem to be any adjustment I can make to prevent the time outs. Information from device log is in screenshot attached.

Hi gseidel, before moving to HW implementation, I had created the same program in simulation mode with virtual drives and, as far as I remember, everything worked fine simulating process and the few useful inputs. So it does not seem to be a SoftMotion library problem, but rather a problem with dynamics or physical axis adjustments. What escapes me, however, is the fact that this function is supposed to perform a position shift virtually, in fact without interfering with the axis itself, thus independent of its adjustments. MC_SetPosition() is not a homing function, in fact it is clearly intended to be executed on the fly with the axis moving. Now I'll see if I can reduce the program, although I don't like it very much. In my life I have learned that problem searches should be done on the part, and not in a more or less similar way.

Using Codesys 3.5.18.30 I am trying to work with an array of variable length in one dimension, but known in the other dimension. For example, using an array that represents a list of items, each with an attribute profile. I do not know how many items will be in the list, but I know that every item has 5 attributes, like size, weight, etc. Codesys does not seem to be able to accept this. I have referenced Data Type: ARRAY OF documentation page, which is not explicit if variable & fixed length array dimensions can be mixed. In the VAR_IN_OUT scope, I initially tried MY_ARRAY : ARRAY [*, *] OF REAL; which was no problem, of course. I then modified it to MY_ARRAY : ARRAY [*, 1..5] OF REAL; which throws C0006: ', or ]' expected instead of '..' among consequent downstream errors. I then used the Auto Declare -> Array Wizard, which accepted (asterisk)-(asterisk) and 1-5 for 2-dimensional lower and upper bounds. It output: MY_ARRAY: ARRAY[*..*, 1..6] OF INT; which throws the same error stream. What's the deal here? Is this possible?

Hi everyone, new at Codesys and PLC programming in general. I am using Codesys Win V3.5 SP20 I would like to measure an encoder's frequency output (obtaining that pulse train from Factory IO) and intended to use the MeasureFrequence FB (Intern/CAA/Utilities/CAA Mathematics/3.5.19.0). As mentioned in the title what I need to measure is low frequency, such as lower than 40hz (a cycle every 25mS) or so; I could even go lower frequency if required as this is for test purposes) therefore I am not expecting problem measuring a low frequency with that FB The library in question appears to be installed as I can retrieve it from the Library Repository. I can also see it from the Device's Library Manager. Problem arises when I am trying to instantiate this particular FB. I go like this: VAR MeasF:MeasureFrequence; END_VAR Please note that as soon as I start typing the "MeasureFrequence", the MeasureFrequence comes out as a viable option in auto-typing; seems to indicate that the FB is recognized somehow. But there is no way I can compile this as it comes back with the following: C0046: Identifier 'MeasureFrequence' not defined. Tried to rename that to ABC instead of MeasF; same issue. Possibly that the library is not properly installed ? Placeholder ? I would greatly appreciate a bit of guidance if possible. Thank you and regards, Mike

I am in the process of getting a visualization to work with the codesys keyboard. I created a custom keyboard which works fantastic for all input fields in the main visualization. I created a user management for my runtime, which gave me the standard blue login page. The codesys keyboard does not show up when trying to enter the usernam or password. I have tried every setting: changing the keyboard back to the standard codesys keyboard, and changing various settings on the visualization manager with no success. I can only use a physical keyboard connected to the device to enter the password. I did try removing the keyboard to no success either. I even tried creating my own login page so I could guarantee the keyboard showed up. This ended in disaster as I could not figure out the very complicated VisuUserManagement and VisuUserManagementDialog library, and documentation is contradictory or lacking. I imagine that an on screen keyboard is essential for many people's projects when using touchscreen panels, so I am wondering what others are doing. I would rather not use an external virtual keyboard (external to codesys) because this causes its own complications (I am working on a linux build with high securities).

Strangely reminds me to my struggles... Want to do something "Elegant", reusable, universal, practical... In CODESYS??? 🙃 First of all, before you get too deep into this: If you could find a way, to make a "universal" log entry object, containing the variable length data itself, you wouldn't be able to store them in an array, or access them like an array, or pass them by value as a type. (please correct me, if I'm wrong, incorrect, or not precise). Because... Basically you can't declare a type with variable memory footprint. This is a very deeply embedded characteristic of CODESYS, and all IEC 61131-3 systems, and it has many reasons behind. And yes, it is a very common trap / mistake, to forget about. So, with a log entry - I guess - it's pretty much the purpose: store data and metadata together, and then handle it in a uniform way. There are ways to handle this, really depends on what is the purpose. For example: 1. Entries with fixed length (Maybe it is not as evil as it looks for the first time. Depends on the situation, but definitely the fastest and easiest code) You can have your base object, with an internal, fixed length string or byte array variable. I would go with a string, and call it _Data.; And then you can make properties, like As_Bool, As_Int, As_Real... In the 'set' accessors, you can do like: pReal := ADR(_Data); // POINTER TO REAL As_Real := pReal^; In the 'get' accessors, evidently: pReal := ADR(_Data); // POINTER TO REAL pReal^ := AS_Real; Or, can use ANY type, if you are not obsessed with variable / property like access: 2. Fixed length, but nicer First, some disadvantage to any values: - You can only assign values with write access. No literals, constants, etc... - Can only be used as input variable of function or function_block - Therefore, stg you could reach: LogEntry.Initialize (stVariable|rVariable|iVariable|xVariable); Just a quick example (it's funny to play with ANY): Be careful it was not tested. If you really want to do entries with variable size In a standard environment, it would be similar to the previous, except you dont have the container variable _Data, just use a pointer, practically _Descr.pValue At Initialize (SET_Value), you have to allocate the memory, would be easy with SysMem.SysMemAlloc - nowadays with SysMem.SysMemAllocData -, and you make sure to release it after use with SysMem.SysMemFreeData... SysMemAlloc was already hidden. The problem with this, that sooner or later your application will totally fragment the dynamic memory, and fail... So should look for some form of dynMaybe MemUtils.MemoryManager (I am not sure what is the status and the future of it). 4. You will end up by a LogEntry Factory ... 5. You could still have a look at this IEC Snippets BTW, Standard Codesys Logger is not a bad choice either. If you are really interested, I share some more code / library.

Hi, I found the same issue, and I fixed with this steps: 1st go to codesys .cfg file. sudo nano CODESYSControl.cfg Then insert this: [SysProcess] BasePriority=Realtime Command=AllowAll Now we need to grant codesys root rights on Linux. Step 1: Create or edit the systemd override configuration: sudo systemctl edit codesyscontrol In the editor that opens, insert: [Service] User=root Save and exit: Press Ctrl+O to save Press Ctrl+X to exit Step 2: Reload systemd and reboot To apply the override: sudo systemctl daemon-reexec sudo systemctl daemon-reload sudo reboot Step 3: Confirm CODESYS is running as root After reboot, open the terminal and run: ps aux | grep codesyscontrol You should see something like: root 1234 ... /opt/codesys/bin/codesyscontrol.bin ... If instead it shows admin or another user, the override was not applied correctly. Step 4: (Optional) Confirm from within CODESYS In your CODESYS project, insert this test code to run the Linux command whoami: Make sure the lib SysProcessImplementation, SysTypes, and CmpErrors is on the project. Hi. As far as projects in "old version"s are concerned, these can be upgraded to newer versions at any time. To do this, the device must be updated accordingly and the copilers and library versions must be adapted. We can give a chekclist on how to proceed: Fist, please recheck the communication settings in the OPC UA connection function block to ensure that the server URL, endpoint URL, and other settings are correct and match the configuration of the OPC UA server. Verify that the OPC UA server is running and accessible. -You can try to connect to the OPC UA server using a separate client, such as UAExpert, to ensure that the issue is not related to the OPC UA server itself. Test the security settings in the OPC UA connection function block to ensure that the correct security policy and certificate are selected. If you are using a dynamic connection to the OPC UA server, probe that the connection settings are correctly configured and that the OPC UA client is able to establish a connection to the OPC UA server. Also, please loock into the log files for any errors related to the OPC UA connection function block, these should be listet there. The log files may also provide additional information about the issue and help you to further troubleshoot the problem.
