Post by manuknecht on FileDialog - OnDialogClosed not called anymore CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I had similar issues with the OnDialogClosed not being called. I realized that this behaviour is resolved, when the according visualization object on which the input configuration is set is moved to the foreground. Somehow, the object has to be one of the lowest elements in the Element List (i.e. in the foreground) for it to work.

OK, I figured out that I can simply define all the sensors as 16 bytes IN/OUT, even if they are not all used. EDIT: The negative effect is that each bit is taken into account as an I/O for the license, even if not used.

Post by ellocco on Kann mich nicht am Gerät anmelden CODESYS Forge talk (Post)

Post by pafarrell on EtherCAT quick start for advanced programmers CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
It would be great if there was a thread that had some quick-start links for basic how-to. But one that advanced programmers can jump into. I found this video playlist by SoftMotion-Black, which was very, very helpful: https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLkc8m2OD0r9xJyfTiCBb1vuU_d2yBhjZ_ This person has some other great vids like creating your own custom library, which is awesome for OEMS.

Post by bjohnson on Failed to instantiate the frame window error CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
IT updated a group policy that caused this issue. We resolved by going to Local Group Policy Editor > Local Computer Policy > Computer Configuration > Windows Settings> Security Settings > Local Policies > Security Options. Set "System Cryptography: Use FIPS compliant algorithms for encryption, hashing, and signing" to DISABLED

Post by naduley on Multiple Branches CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I am trying to create multiple branches in my project and I keep getting gaps in the ladder logic "wiring". I'm not sure if this is a graphical error or something else but every thing I've tried to do to correct it does not work. Has anyone else run into this or know how to correct it?

Post by zoppp on Visu Frame-configuration___text will not work CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Yup, I've been having the exact same issue. A workaround that was working until Visu 4.8.0.0 was using TextList as the type in the frame configuration and then wrapping the text in quotes when configuring it. Im not sure if it will work with variables and I know it does not work if the type is text.

Post by jeindhoven on Deploying to raspberry pi 5 hangs CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Yep sure, though now that i think of it, its a pi 4. My bad. The whole ordeal was necessary to use the VGA666 adapter. That needs the old graphical system and GPIO directly on the CPU. Edit: Putty on the virtual development machine connects fine. But i did change the login/pw. The account is still a sudo'er so that should be all right. Edit2: Sorry i get a "Comment rate limit exceeded" from the forum. Then i'll add it as edit here. So i have tried the stock raspberry pi image on a different pi5 (truly 5 this time). Packages updated. Standard password. Same symptoms, no runtime deployed and long hang time. Versions of this pi: pi@raspberrypi:~ $ uname -a Linux raspberrypi 6.12.25+rpt-rpi-2712 #1 SMP PREEMPT Debian 1:6.12.25-1+rpt1 (2025-04-30) aarch64 GNU/Linux pi@raspberrypi:~ $ lsb_release -a No LSB modules are available. Distributor ID: Debian Description: Debian GNU/Linux 12 (bookworm) Release: 12 Codename: bookworm pi@raspberrypi:~ $ apt list --installed | grep openssh-server openssh-server/stable,now 1:9.2p1-2+deb12u6 arm64 [installed, automatic] Attached is the Device information and error text that Codesys comes up with. Edit 3 (Comment rate limit, otherwise it would be a new post) Now i have tried booting an older native Windows 10 machine (no virtualization), and it just works as expected. I have now a raspberry pi 4 and raspberry pi 5 with version 4.16.0.0 of the control application. Windows 10 native: build 19045 (same as virtualised Win 10), same .NET version, same CODESYS version. It seems that running CODESYS virtualized somehow messes with the deployment?

This is a homing routine which is controlled by setting mode of operation and started by setting a bit in the control word. If MC_Home is not usable for this homing method then I need to implement the same functionality. But how?

I have on my Pi successfully deployed an application to which with composer AC_Datalog is added. It starts logging automatically. I want a Visualization with a start/stop button controlling the logging. That must be easy. How do I do that?

Post by paulpotat on Where can I find a list of all available runtime configuration parameters ? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I was wondering if there is a list somewhere of all the parameters that can be used inside the "/etc/codesyscontrol/CODESYSControl_User.cfg" configuration file ? I searched the documentation but didn't find anything. If it doesn't exist, that would be nice to have a little bit more documentation about this file :) Thank you for your help, BR

Hi. Raspberry pi 4 runtime. Runtime version 4.16, IDE version 3.5.21. Is it possible write new value for variable via modbus tcp or serial devices when both enabled? As I see - not. What can I do? It is terrible restriction.

Post by timvh on Reading multiple lines from csv file CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Not sure, but maybe before you enter step 5, set i, lineindex and charIndex to 0. And the buffer variable should have a size bigger than 1 line. Additionally I think you should set bufferstart to 0 before you enter step 5. And in the OSCAT function you always point to the buffer address, but shouldn't this be (buffer + bufferstart)?

Post by timvh on IECStringUtils.FormatDateTime CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
There has been a fix in SP21. I tried it in this version with the option "Use unicodestring" enabled in the Visualization Manager and it worked if the variables used for the function are declared as WSTRING variables wsFormat : WSTRING := "%t[HH:mm:ss dd.MM.yyyy]"; wsTime : WSTRING; IECStringUtils.FormatDateTime(cbpResult := ADR(wsTime), uiResultCapacity := SIZEOF(wsTime), cbpFormat := ADR(wsFormat));

Hello everyone, I was just wondering if anybody knows if there's a way to pull the string name of the current visualization without using the current visu variable. I'm working on a project where we don't want web clients to change the current visualization on the HMI of the machine. Thanks!!

Post by akrawczyk on Dynamically enabling/disabling Modbus slave devices in runtime (performance issue with timeouts) CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi everyone, I'm working on a CODESYS-based project running on a Weintek cMT2078X HMI with a built-in CODESYS runtime. The system communicates with multiple Modbus RTU slave devices, arranged in a cascade. The number of connected units can vary between 2 and 8, depending on the installation. Each slave has 17 Modbus channels, which are polled cyclically every 5 seconds. The issue is that when fewer devices are physically connected (e.g. only 3 out of 8), the Modbus master still attempts to communicate with all configured slaves. This leads to massive delays due to timeouts (currently 200ms per channel). For one disconnected device, that’s: 17 × 200ms = 3.4 seconds of delay per polling cycle, and this quickly multiplies with each additional missing slave. This behavior significantly degrades the system's performance and responsiveness. We attempted a workaround where we tried to trigger polling based on a variable in the PLC program, but this caused instability and even led to hardware hangs/freezes on the cMT2078X – likely due to clashes in how the Modbus polling engine and program logic interact at runtime. My main questions are: Is there a way in CODESYS to dynamically enable/disable Modbus slave devices at runtime, using a BOOL or INT variable (e.g. indicating number of active slaves)? Can devices or channels be conditionally polled or temporarily disabled without removing them from the device tree? Are there any best practices or examples for handling variable numbers of Modbus slaves in scalable systems like this? Would splitting communication across tasks or interfaces help reduce the impact of timeouts? Any advice, documentation references, or architectural suggestions would be extremely helpful. I'm looking for a robust way to dynamically scale slave polling without degrading system stability or performance. Thanks in advance!

To change the current visualization for (all) webclients: Add the library “Visu Utils” and use the following example code: VAR xChangeVisu: BOOL; fbChangeVisu : VU.FbChangeVisu; END_VAR // Change to Visu2 when setting xChangeVisu to TRUE fbChangeVisu( xExecute:= xChangeVisu, xDone=> , xBusy=> , xError=> , itfClientFilter:= VU.Globals.OnlyWebVisu, //itfFilter, eError=> , sVisuName:= 'Visu2'); IF fbChangeVisu.xDone OR fbChangeVisu.xError THEN xChangeVisu := FALSE; END_IF

Post by mqi2r on Newly created texlists wont appear in the selection dropdown CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
For anyone with this issue, you may need to: Open the text list properties (right-click the text list once you create it). Select the Text List tab. Change the Download by option to Visualization. I was fighting this for so long. Once you do that, you should find your text list appears in the drop down when editing a visualisation.

This is from sometime ago but below might help someone else; this could be done via POINTERS. Make sure you protect for NULL pointers etc if you take this approach. // DECLARATION myEnumValue : enumMyEnum; u8 : USINT; pmyEnumValue : POINTER TO enumMyEnum; pu8 : POINTER TO USINT; // CODE pu8 := ADR(u8); pmyEnumValue := pu8; myEnumValue := pmyEnumValue^; // dereference the pointer
