Hello, I am using codesys Modbus TCP client (4.4.0.0) to communicate with a python modbus server (package pyModbusTCP). I first start my python server on the distant machine. After a fresh codesys compilation, a plc connection/transfer and a PLC run, the modbus connection is OK. Every time in this context the connection is created correctly. When I shut down the server, the modbus connection falls, that is normal. When I restart the python server, impossible to recreate the modbus connexion. With the client autoreconnection, I see on my server that the client tries to connect but unsuccesfully. I have the following message : DEBUG:pyModbusTCP.server:accept new connection from ClientInfo(address='192.168.1.20', port=33476) DEBUG:pyModbusTCP.server:Exception during request handling: NetworkError('recv return null') I tried to stop the codesys client and to restart it with these commands : Modbus_TCP_Client.xStop := True; // Or False Modbus_TCP_Client.Enable := True; // Or False Modbus_TCP_Server.Enable := True; // Or False I tried to confirm the error manually to force reconnection with: Modbus_TCP_Server_Motors.xConfirmError := TRUE; I tried also this command to STOP/RESET/START client and server (codesys side) but nothing happens : status_client := Modbus_TCP_Client.SetCommunicationState(eRequestedState := DED.DEVICE_TRANSITION_STATE.STOP); // .RESET & .START The answer of this function when executed is "status_client = NOT_SUPPORTED" It seems that is a socket problem, but I do not understand if it is on the client or server side. I tried a modbus simulator called "ananas.exe" and the result is the same. Impossible to get a modbus reconnection. What is different at the first connection and at a reconnection attempt ? Hardware PLC: WAGO PFC200 750-8210 Drive: Festo CMMT-AS-C4-3A-MP-S1 Communication: EtherCAT CODESYS version: Device description version 6.3.1.1 Drive firmware: 36.10.3 Current Status EtherCAT communication is working correctly: EtherCAT master = Running Drive detected and operational PDO input and output mapping is active Statusword, position and velocity are updating correctly Current PDO mapping: Outputs: 6040 Controlword -> %QW0 6060 Modes of operation -> %QB2 607A Target position -> %QD1 60FF Target velocity -> %QD3 Inputs: 6041 Statusword -> %IW2 6061 Modes of operation display -> %IB6 6064 Position actual value -> %ID2 606C Velocity actual value -> %ID3 SoftMotion Axis I added a SoftMotion CiA402 axis under the EtherCAT slave: Axis type: SM_Drive_GenericDSP402 Axis communication state: operational (100) No SoftMotion mapping errors anymore Problem MC_Power is executed with: Enable = TRUE bRegulatorOn = TRUE bDriveStart = TRUE but: Status = FALSE Busy = TRUE Error = FALSE ErrorID = SMC_NO_ERROR The axis remains in: SMC_AXIS_STATE.power_off DSP402 state = SWITCH_ON_DISABLED The most important observation: Statusword = 32784 (0x8010) Controlword (%QW0) remains 0 all the time SoftMotion never writes 6, 7, or 15 to the Controlword. Additional Information The axis status page reports: "The license is missing or invalid. The PLC runs in demo mode." I am not sure whether: The missing SoftMotion license prevents Controlword generation completely. The axis is still not correctly connected to the EtherCAT slave despite operational communication. There is an additional CiA402 configuration step required for the Festo CMMT-AS drive. Has anyone successfully used a Festo CMMT-AS MP drive with CODESYS SoftMotion Generic DSP402 on a WAGO PFC200? Any suggestions on what should be checked next would be greatly appreciated.

Hallo zusammen Wir setzen mehrere Weidmüller UC20-WL2000 mit CODESYS Runtime und System-Bus ein und kämpfen seit einiger Zeit mit Problemen, für die wir bisher keine Ursache finden konnten. Aktuell beobachten wir zwei Phänomene: System-Bus Probleme Bei einer Anlage verlieren die I/O-Module sporadisch die Verbindung. Im Log erscheinen Meldungen wie: SLIO:CheckModule missing NotReachable Module Unplugged Nach diversen Updates (u-OS 2.7, aktuelle Runtime, aktuelles CODESYS) wurde das Verhalten eher schlechter statt besser. Anfangs traten die Fehler sporadisch auf, inzwischen funktioniert der System-Bus teilweise gar nicht mehr. Auch ein Downgrade auf eine ältere u-OS Version half nicht wirklich, aber ev ist es mit der aktuellen Runtime nicht kompatibel. Probleme nach Spannungsunterbruch / Neustart Mehrfach hatten wir bereits den Fall, dass eine Steuerung nach einem Spannungsunterbruch oder Neustart nicht mehr vollständig hochkommt. Teilweise startet die CODESYS Runtime nicht mehr (vermutlich aufgrund von Problemen mit Persistent-Daten), in einem aktuellen Fall ist zusätzlich das u-OS Backend nicht mehr erreichbar. Die Welcome-Seite erscheint noch, beim Login läuft der Request jedoch in einen 504 Gateway Timeout. Hardware: UC20-WL2000 u-OS 2.x System-Bus mit mehreren UR20 Modulen CODESYS Control SL Runtime Mich würde interessieren: Hat jemand ähnliche Erfahrungen mit UC20-WL2000 oder u-OS gemacht? Gibt es bekannte Probleme mit dem System-Bus? Gibt es Workarounds bezüglich Persistent-Daten oder Recovery nach Spannungsunterbruch? Hat jemand ähnliche 504-Fehler im u-OS Backend gesehen? Post by dantheman on Connecting to SoftPLC Only Works By Turning Off Modbus Ethernet Port ^{CODESYS Forge talk (Post)}
I have an IPC with 2 ethernet ports and 1 Wi-Fi. I'm using ModbusTCP with the ethernet port named "enp2s0" connected to my remote I/O. This works fine when testing with Python and also works with CODESYS, but CODESYS is only able to scan for the Linux SoftPLC when I turn off the "enp2s0" interface. In other words, I can't get online with the IDE if I want my ModbusTCP comms to run with CODESYS. I'm using a Linux SoftPLC that has the following entry in CODESYSControl.cfg, hoping that this will allow me to connect with "enp1s0" or "wlp3s0", and leave "enp2s0" for field comms, but this seems to only make the source IP of the ModbusTCP comms to be bound to "enp2s0". That last point is the case only if I don't restart the service, but if I do restart the service after changing the config file, the source IP for the ModbusTCP comms then becomes the one for "enp1s0", which is very confusing to me: [SysSocket] Adapter.0.Name="enp2s0" Adapter.0.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 On the device list, I only have "enp2s0" given as the ethernet device that has the ModbusTCP master & slave beneath it, shown in Screenshot 1. On the IPC, I can ping the ModbusTCP client (remote I/O) from "enp2s0", and I've attached a Wireshark capture of running ModbusTCP from the CODESYS runtime as Screenshot 2, 3 & 4 (again, I can't get online when this is running, I have to turn off "enp2s0" to connect even when it's idle and I don't have an active TCP session with my Python tests). Like I explained above, the source IP is "enp1s0", even though the ethernet device on the project is "enp2s0". I was lucky to catch the red message that showed the source IP that makes sense to me (the one for "enp2s0"), but for some reason that connection was reset and I never saw that packet again. I've also tried this with Auto-reconnect both enabled & disabled, for the ModbusTCP Master device. I also have to turn off "enp1s0" and then turn it on, just so that I can have the ModbusTCP comms running from "enp2s0" (which is not intuitive in any way to me, I'd love some help understanding that phenomenon as well) in the weird manner that I've described above. I would be very appreciative if someone can help me figure out this pickle. I'd love to just connect to CODESYS through my Wi-Fi interface and leave my ethernet ports for field comms.

Hi All I was watching the Wago PFC300 webinar ( https://www.wago.com/global/lp-thank-you-onlineseminar-pfc-300 ), and the presenters comment about priority 1 being way above the Ethernet task priority, so that a priority 1 PLC program can actually loose SCADA connection, made me try to round up some hard evidence on Codesys Priorities. I find there is very little information on "correct" task priority configuration. Some controllers have separate MODBUS tasks, but doesn't seem like a big difference. How would you recommend splitting up communication, IO fieldbus and programs into differently prioritized tasks? I know its a complex matter and all about my application, but I really miss there was just some kind of guidance in the documentations and with all new standard Codesys programs having priority 1 as default, makes it seem less important, than it really is.

Is this a recently enforced constraint ? Why does this compile for you and not for me ? There are references to functions / utilities which are used/needed to massage the string references - but I see no specific details... I also notice you specify: Make sure the lib SysProcessImplementation, SysTypes, and CmpErrors is on the project. I don't comprehend why all of the dependent libraries are not automatically referenced, added ? I don't recall seeing anywhere but here that SysProcessImplementation must be included... Hi, I am trying to build a CI/CD pipeline around our codesys projects. The only entry point if the git url and branch, as we do not put our project file under source control, so we needed to find a way to git clone from the python scripting engine. I investigated the VersionUpdateFlags, but the problem is that the git clone is an atomic operation that clones and directly opens the generated project without the possibility to inject any updateFlags argument (only used in the ScripProjects.open() function. I also tried to simulate some keyboard events acknowledge the window from script but I did not find the right location for the SendKeys statement, I think before the git clone call is too early and after is too late. So I am wondering if there would be some other way to do that. Is there some more proper scripting api for the git add on ? Is there a global configuration of the VersionUpdateFlags that would allow the popup to be disabled outside from any project context ? Is there some way to automatically acknowledge this kind of messages in a "--noUI" mode ? What do you suggest ? Hello everyone, I am currently working with CODESYS Virtual Control for Linux running in Docker on a Debian virtual machine. I am deploying my application using Deploy Control SL, and in my project I am using the ModbusFB library to implement Modbus TCP communication. My setup is the following: I am trying to establish a Modbus TCP connection between a virtual PLC (CODESYS acting as Modbus TCP Client/Master) and a Siemens S7-1200 PLC acting as a Modbus TCP Server. From the Debian VM, I can successfully ping the S7-1200 and verify that port 502 is open using tools like nc. Network-wise, everything appears to be correct. Hi guys, Recently, I am working at the Dynamic I/Os mapping feature in Ecockpit or Codesys v3.5. I have been trying the libraries. However, it looks like it will not work as I wanted. I want to build the PLC which can detect all the I/Os itself and from there, I can do something on these channels. For example, the current setup is one digital input card, one digital output card and one analogue input card. Then, I want to add one more card into the setup e.g. one more digital input. Then, wago screen can detect this and we can assign them to tasks for example to control digital output. May I know is it possible ? Kind regards

I am attempting to place a block and make it an Analog sensor. When I go to change the name like in the instructional video on youtube it does not give me an option to autofill the block with a known configuration. This is a problem I have in Codesys 2.5 and 3.5. Did I mess up the install of the program or need to install a library? Hello, I´m connected to two drives via CANOPEN. The connection seems to be ok. However, I´m not able to get the PDOs to work even tho they are configured as in the manual of the drives. Looking at the SDOs I´ve seen that for each PDO there is a "Disable PDO" SDO that does not exist in the manual or in the EDS file of the drives. This "Disable PDO" signal has the same Index and Subindex as another SDO used to set and enable the COB-ID of the PDO. I´m assuming this is normal but why is Codesys creating a "Disable PDO" SDO for each PDO and could that be the reason the PDOs are not working?

Build: CODESYS 3.5 SP19 Patch 1 (64-bit) Host OS: Windows 10 Target: Linux SL I have a project with programs in Structured Text and Ladder Diagram. When I try to use the Find function, it works for the Active Editor; however, when I try to use Find for the Entire Project, I get the error "Object reference not set to the instance of an object." I know what this error means in the context of the program, but I have no idea why the find function is returning this error. The variable I am searching does not matter: it happens with all variables. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. I generally use the Find function quite often as I am developing and not having it is really slowing me down.

Hello, I am working on a project with a Beijer Nexto Xpress. I have done this a few times with no issues but for some reason this time when creating a Symbol Configuration the ARTI .xml file is not being created in the Project Folder. However when manually putting the ARTI tags in the HMI program they are connected and work. So I am just not getting the file to import all the tags. I can do it manually which is fine but no matter where the project folder is saved this occurs. Anyone experienced this? Did not see another forum on it.

Hallo, I have a strange problem with the recipe manager. ISSUE: When using RecipeManCommands not all values are loaded correctly. Saving a recipe with CreateRecipe(), ReadAndSaveRecipe() or ReadAndSaveRecipeAs() works without any problems. BUT: LoadRecipe(), WriteRecipe() or LoadFromAndWriteRecipe() do not load the data correctly. It is Interesting that we have a different error pattern with LoadRecipe() than with WriteRecipe() or LoadFromAndWriteRecipe(). LoadRecipe() does not load all data and WriteRecipe() or LoadFromAndWriteRecipe() overwrites some data or assigns it incorrectly. And it is also strange that LoadRecipe() writes the values to the PLC. Normally it doesn’t do it. It makes no difference whether the memory type is textual or binary. I have an object consisting of STRUCTs which is inserted in the recipe definition. Environment: Codesys V3.5 SP19 Patch 4 (64Bit), Recipe Management 4.2.0.0 *Add a project (reduced to the problem)

Hello, I have a question: Once the command is being executed, is there a way to kill it again? As the called application is running in the background, the user can't close it but it shall be closed/terminated, commanded by codesys. I have tried with "SysProcessTerminate" but I guess this is not correct as the RTE crashes when this function is called. Goodmorning, I would need to set a control station that can manage a PLC network. In short I need to access to all visu programmed in any PLC of the network (LAN). I was thinking to use a PLC with buttons that call, by mean an IP address, the visu of any PLC. I don't know if it is possible but I saw that there is a RemoteVisuTarget that run CODESYS Control Win V3. Can someone suggest me how to create a remote main control station from a normal PC? Dear All, I hope first to get notice and somebody answer my question. How can I create a motion profile with the axis following it (once or periodically)? As my research shows, Schineder has a UI-based (Motion Sizer) program that helps create a motion with different configurations, which is Codesys-based. I need to create a motion profile based on position, changing the speed. (i.e., 0-300mm moves with 300 mm/s, 300-400mm moves with 500 mm/s, 500-800mm moves with 1000 mm/s, and 800-0mm moves with 2000 mm/s). MC_PositionProfile does it time-based, which is not working for me as the axis may not stabilize the position in time, which may cause a big failure in the system.

Hello, I'm encountering an issue with the Sysprocess library while attempting to execute commands to transfer a file from a NAS to my PLC. Currently, I'm trying to test a simple "reboot" command, but it doesn't work as demonstrated in this video: https://youtu.be/77c7Af5xRhE?si=uFZdB6fTNQitzWMQ. I'm using CODESYS V3.5 SP18 Patch 4 (3.5.18.40). From other sources, I've learned that to enable the PLC to execute commands, I need to add the following line to the file CODESYSControl_User.txt: [SysProcess] Command=AllowAll However, the issue I'm facing is that this file doesn't exist on my CPU. I have full SSH access and can see all files, but only CODESYSControl.txt is present. Adding the command to CODESYSControl.txt hasn't resolved the problem.

I am trying to make a LD program for an existing installation with a motor. Here an inductive sensor is used to give an input, as a check to verify the conveyor is actually running. Here the plan was to use a TOF timer which gets constantly reset when the sensor input gets detected. The problem is, that if the conveyor is stuck, and the sensor sends a continous signal, the timer will never do what it is supposed to do. Therefor I need some help on how I can convert the input to a pulse, with the help of something like a SOTU. I just cannot find this in codesys anywhere.

Does Ver. 4.12 support Raspberry Pi 5? I have three issues. The first issue is that Codesys cannot detect the RPI 5 when I want to download the runtime. When assigning the IP Address manually then I can download the runtime. The second issue is that I cannot connect to the RPI to download a program. Sometimes the window pops up and it ask for the user credentials, but it is still not connecting. The third issue is that I cannot connect to an ESP32 configured as a Modbus Slave with a Raspberry Pi 4B. I can connect to the ESP32 via a Radzio! Modbus Master Simulator. I am also missing the function Write Holding Registers in the setup of the slave. Are this known issues and when it will be solved?

Hello, I tried to run the example project from https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/alarm-manager/home/Home/ However, I can not get the interface for Alarm History 12 Alarm Manager client to populate with any alarms. 'udiResult := AlarmManager.g_AlarmHandler.RegisterClient(itfAlarmManagerClient12, ADR(arritfAlarmsFromHistory12), iMaxCountAlarmsFromHistory12);' when I look at itfAlarmManagerClient12 its always empty. What is confusing is that when I simulate 2 alarms, iCountActiveAlarms 12 has a vlaue of 2, associated with itfAlarmManagerClient12 - so that appears to work. And yet, its useless as the ProcessAlarms Function can't extract anything from the empty array. I dont understand how these arrays are supposed to be populated and why its not working. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Hi everyone. I use Raspberry Pi 4, one core codesys SL. I have a question about global variable access via programm when I glued the same variable to MODBUS SERIAL/TCP DEVICE holding register. So, the question: what behavior of this modifying? When I set "Always update variables (in bus cycle)" and set some task as bus for the Device, then in another task I cant change this varible (can, but immediatly the old value setted again). But the same things works with MODBUS SLAVE: again "Always update..." and master attached to some task, then I change variable in another task and all works. I cant set up my variables from retains file at PrepareStart event because of this behavior with MODBUS SERIAL/TCP DEVICE. Thanks, wbj0t.

Hi everyone, I use Python Script to generate some POU in Codesys V3.5 SP19 and I would like to limit the "Access Control" to them thanks to the Python command. Is there any commands that allow to edit the "Properties... >> Access Control" of the POU? The other possibility is to set the permissions with "Project >> User Management >> Permissions... >> Project objects >> Modify >> ... >> myPOU", but I did not find the related Python commands. Otherwise, is there a global setting that allows to set the permissions by default? For example, Modify = Denied for everyone user by default. Thank you in advance for your help, Nico

max. string length in Codesys is 255 chars. It's not possible to cram 20,000 things in a string. If you need to send the data to another device, send the whole data[] array (as byte array, without doing anything to it) and extract the information on the other end. As each struct member has a fixed size (81 bytes, as per you declaration), this will be easy. To save some resources, consider declaring string lengths - e.g. if the max possible length for key is 10 chars, declare it key: STRING(10); and it will occupy 11 bytes instead of 81
