Hello, I´m connected to two drives via CANOPEN. The connection seems to be ok. However, I´m not able to get the PDOs to work even tho they are configured as in the manual of the drives. Looking at the SDOs I´ve seen that for each PDO there is a "Disable PDO" SDO that does not exist in the manual or in the EDS file of the drives. This "Disable PDO" signal has the same Index and Subindex as another SDO used to set and enable the COB-ID of the PDO. I´m assuming this is normal but why is Codesys creating a "Disable PDO" SDO for each PDO and could that be the reason the PDOs are not working?

Hi I am about to configure ALL GPIOs on a Raspberry Pi 3 model B V1.2. It seems that I have limited understanding of why not all the IO’s become available with the corresponding mapped IO’s – the 'dwInUse' contains mapping of the inputs from GPIO0 to GPIO27. But 'dwInputs' are only showing GPIO0 to GPIO8 and GPIO15 as available inputs. I made a FC that require a correct code to activate simulation to avoid unintended activation by service dept. When comissioned remove any possibility to activate simulation. Super when officetesting and supporting service dept. + cheap as it requires no additional equipment, and it is easier to support customer later on in the life cycle as you can test proposed changes without setting up a testlab.

Hi, I tried posting in the discussion for the HTTP Client example but perhaps that is not monitored? I have been using http client successfully for approximately 12 months, however in recent weeks I have begun to get TCP_INIT_ERROR when attempting to communicate. The only resolution seems to be power cycling and then the connection begins to work again for a time. I am not aware of any changes to code or libraries between working ok and now. Cold reset does not resolve, only power cycle. It seems the error from NBS.TCP_Client is 6002 which I think is invalid_addr However the address is the same when working and not working?

I am using a Raspberry Pi 2B. Installed Codesys V3.5.20.1 64-bit and installed 'CODESYS Control for Raspberry PI 4.12.0.0' I am able to install the packages using the 'Update Raspberry Pi' option, but when I try to log into the RPi, in the Device tab it says 'Sacn fail. Please checl that the gateway is running and that its settings are correct'. My setup looks like this. I connected my RPi to my company LAN and also my laptop to company LAN (using HP Docking station). This setup worked when I installed 'CODESYS Control for Raspberry PI', but now I donot know how to configure the gateway. Could anyone please help me in finding what I have to enter in the gateway configuration? Thanks, Vamsi.

Hello , I am new to codesys ,working with it for just 15-17 days so ,i think i am able to installed it and configure it ,not i want to use ardunio program (smart dustbin ,college project using motor and Ultrasonic Module HC-SR04 and servo motor). i use ardunio program to write code with chatgpt to work ardunio as a modbus rtu as i dont have ethernet or wifi shild ,i wrote program in ariduno but now don have idea what change i have to make in codesys to comunicate as modbus slave it give error with bus error ,where i can get all errors ? I let this project rest for a while and picked it up last week. I have been in contact with the support from beckhoff and got the information that the terminals were identical (communication wise). As the Log of the Axis (not the drive's log) shows the error when trying to write into the register 0x8012 and set the value for an encoder to a value that is the default - at least according to the manual - I was wondering if it is possible to "not write that value" to skip that part? Or am I misunderstanding the way the library communicates with the drive?

Hello, I'm coming from Siemens (TIA) world and currently learning Codesys. I'd like to know if there is an option to add external txt file with ST code for creation of a function block and then use this file as a source file from which FB will be generated? For example, in TIA, there is an option add external source file to the project structure and then use option "Generate blocks from source". This would create a FB. Does Codesys have something similar? This external source file would look like this: FUNCTION_BLOCK Scaling VAR_INPUT x, k, n : REAL; END_VAR VAR_OUTPUT y : REAL; END_VAR VAR END_VAR y := k*x+n; END_FUNCTION_BLOCK

Hi all, Im new to Codesys 3.5, and am in the process fo making a visualisation i'd eventually export towards a Wago device. The issue I'm having currently is that when I compile and connect to the simulated program, my simulation won't launch. On the Visualisation tab, all I get is a text message (where previously there was my prepared visualisation) that says "The visualisation awaits a connection. Start the application" One thing to note: I work with Codesys 3.5 in french, so this is a rough translation. And a second: I'm not getting any errors nor warnings about the visualisation tab itself upon compiling Is there a step i'm missing after launching my simulation? Or would it be some really specific issue caused by the way I've set up my program? Thanks, J

Hello, I have just went through all steps shown on Codesys YT channel https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RPoPscbo3Kc And it works, I have installed PI OS 32 bit and choose Single Core. However, immediattely when I create standard project with Raspberrz pi device, "Application" is underlined, like there is an error, but in reality there are no errors, and I cannot see what are these 3 messages like shown in attachment. Aside for this red underline, everything seems to work fine. How to correct this? Thank you! Update: I have found what errors are, but not sure how to correct them: Identifier 'IoDrvGPIO' not defined Function block 'IoDrvGPIO' must be instantiated to be accessed 'IoDrvGPIO' is no component of 'IoDrvGPIO'

Usage of this pointer access at your own risk :-) Works with SP16. From SP17 and newer there will be warnigs etc. using this solution as I remember. It will be great, if Codesys publishes a example or give a hint how to accesse this client values with the VisuUtil lib or other future-proof way!

Hi Yet another OPC UA question. When setting up a OPC server using "Communcation manager" (Symbol set and information model) in Codesys the NodeId is always given as "opaque" type. At least when browsing using UAExpert. Other standard OPC objects use numeric (or string) identifier, but for some reason my variables seems to get opaque/binary type. See attached photo. How can I change this? I can't see that this is a parameter in the CodesysControl.cfg. Can this be specified in the information model nodeset? And is it possible to specify the exact numeric or string NodeId for each instance? And on a related topic, is there a way to export the OPC server nodeId's with variable name so that it can be imported in a OPC Client? The .xml files in the project folder does not seem to contain the NodeId.

Hello, by searching the forum, I have found an example of batch script that can be used to start codesys projct by temporarily setting env variables. The py script should first add required library to the project and then project should be open.

Needed to connect to PFC200 via Putty, and open CodesysControl.cfg with “sudo nano /etc/CODESYSControl.cfg”. Then adding following command to the end of file, and use the name you want, save/close CODESYSControl.cfg, and reboot your PLC. [CmpOPCUAProviderIecVarAccess] CustomNodeName= PFC200 Hi! , I'm digging up this issue cause we have still this long name within current versions on CodesysControl. Is it a lock for "demo" licences or can it be changed in some way ? This DeviceSet name is too way long with spaces inside, not easy to handle with string parsing... Cheers !

When i go to "Allow Edge Gateway configuration.." from the Codesys gateway Systray running i get the message in the attached picture, so i open the Gateway.cgf but the file doesn't contain an cmpedgegateway section as mentioned in the message. I have installed all the latest versions codesys and of the components mentioned in the guides. How can i solve that problem?

Hello everyone, I am using an IFM CR0303 model PLC, which has a tilt sensor and a pressure sensor connected via CANopen. Both sensors are from the same brand (ATEK). I can read data from the tilt sensor without any issues, but I am unable to read data from the pressure sensor. I have added the EDS file in the PLC configuration and adjusted the node-ID settings. When I check with the PCAN-View application, I can see that the selected PDOs are coming through, but the data is not reaching the Codesys side. What could be the issue, and what can I try to resolve it? Can anyone help me?

Hi, I've read the CamBuilder documentation and it shows to use the left boundary of the first segment as SMCB.BoundImplicit(), so that the transition is as smooth as possible. With this it sets X and Y to 0. My first slave position is not 0 (say for example it's 100), so I would set it with SMCB.Bound(0,100). My question is that when the cam goes back to the start (Periodic := TRUE) , will it blend with the last position (360, 100) if I do this? I imagine it will, but the documentation isn't clear as the information in the Periodic Cams only says to set Smooth Transition in the cam properties - but when I'm defining it with code there isn't an option for Smooth Transition to be set. I am using CODESYS v3.5 SP20 Patch 3 / Control for BeagleboneBlack SL v4.13 and after some time the OPC UA Server crashes. However, Runtime still works without any issues. The events leading up to the OPC server crash are the most suspicious: 1) Mutex deadlock detected - owner thread died, and 2) Runtime received SIGABRT. And it seems very similar with this topic except used versions - issues should be fixed with previous SP's. I can't seem to find any information about these events. Need some pointers in the right direction on how I can fix this problem.

Before creating this topic, I was browsing the search results for CodesysControl.cfg - many results, and I remember very well, it's a problematic issue for a long time. To summarize: there were many requests for documentation on this file - the most comprehensive reply is: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Runtime/thread/ebbf851a3d/#eb85 Hi, not really, this is covered by the manual which you get if you use a runtime toolkit which is not free of charge. Maybe we need to extract the config file part from that documentation if that is possible. BR Edwin I am not sure how much is this relevant, since we buy SL License directly from CODESYS... I think it is a reasonable demand, to get documentation on the configuration entries affecting the documented behaviour of the runtime system and it's components The actual reason I bring up this issue again can be read here: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Runtime/thread/febad3cc40/#0e12 but mostly my frustration about noticing some new, unknown and undocumented entries in my configuration file. Again. And this happens a lot recently. Just some examples: Changes with SysFile - and mandatory use of IEC path Introduction of Mandatory user management File transfer service now disabled by default SysProcess - allowed commands The above mentioned CmpApp parameters... And finally (Regaridng windows install): With the newer versions, the installation directory (together with the configuration file) tends to hide itself to some super silly location under the roaming profile data of local system account. I am not sure if this change was documented somewhere, but was a very unpleasant one. Someone could please explain the reason and the concept of the introduction of this release specific directories (I am sure, there is a good reason) - how to use them properly? - How to re-introduce user configuration (to preserve configuration data between versions)? - How to do version - to version migrations properly? - How to keep old version of runtime available and ready to start with it's original configuration and application? - ... Therefore, the lack a regularly updated description of CodesysControl .cfg , including all the configuration entries, together with their default values for different runtime versions is really a big deficiency.* This should be done for all components storing or just seeking data from this file... (Maybe there is such thing but I failed to find???) It is regularly causing trouble when introducing a new version (together with the long awaited bug fixes and enhancements), what has changed it's default behaviour for security or other practical reasons. I agree this is very important, and it is logical to change the default options: But it must be documented historically, and make it easily available, so we can prepare better for the upgrade of the runtime. Forge talk is a great source, but not very practical for this kind of documentation purposes... Dear people, I would like to create a TCP server in my PLC program. The TCP server needs to communicate with an external device. I have been searching the internet and found that the libraries Syssocket or CAA NetBaseSrv are two possible solutions to create a TCP server. From what I have read, CAA NetBaseSrv is more user-friendly to implement than the Syssocket variant. However, I am still struggling to actually implement this library. Foremost is my little knowledge about creating a TCP server and how to read/understand each function block, especially the outputs of some blocks and the types, e.g. server has an output CAA.Handle, but I cannot find the explanation of CAA.Handle. I tried to find a good document that can help me understand how to implement a TCP server, but I could not find it. Thank you in advance, George

I have created a library with both code and visualizations to be used in multiple other projects. After I update the library version into the library repository, I have much difficulty updating the version into the main project. I can always update the library version in the Library Manager just fine. My issue, is sometimes Codesys will freeze when opening the visualization that uses the library visualizations. Sometimes it opens, but freezes when I try to access the library visualizations from the Visualization Toolbox. I try letting Codesys run for upwards of 4+ hours and it is stuck in this state. On very rare cases I have no issues and can continue with my work. I haven't found a consistent reason or work around. Has anyone else had this happen?

Hello, Thank you for your answer. I'm afraid I was not clear on what I was trying to achieve. I'm trying to change parameters and command axes from inside a function block and the first thing that came to my mind was pass both the EtherCAT slave and axis to the function block (as image attached). But, I believe it's worse than just pass directly the EtherCAT slave address to the function block (is it???). However I was wondering if there was a way to get the EtherCAT address directly from the axis, so I don't need to pass the EtherCAT slave nor the EtherCAT address to the function block. Hi, Might be a good idea first to try out the connection and the device with some handy software, like Modbus Poll. There you can see better, what's really going on... - Is it really connected? - What error code does it return? - Can it read from the register address? - Maybe try Input registers and Holding Registers - can make a difference - Sometimes register addresses are messed up: shifted +-1 (mixing of 2 standards) - Sometimes register addresses start with offset 30000, 40000 ... - Are you using the right protocol? - Is it RTU or TCP? Maybe ASCII? - Can even have a look at the data packets, etc... All this is easier to figure out first with some modbus utility... and then to set it up in CODESYS should not be an issue. P.
