I am trying to understand how the Position selection works in an object, under the catagory, with the checkbox checked. Another entry field appears just below called Number of Positions:, in place of the Dialog title: box. I have tried to enter and a few other values, but nothing seems to work.
My hope was that this object would allow me to build a slider bar that could be used to change a variable value. I have tried this property in squares and rectangles as well as polygons but nothing seems to work.

Why dont you use the sliders of CoDeSys?
