Hi all, 100% newbie on Factory I/O and Codesys here.
We are trying to create a very visually appealing demo setup using Factory IO scenes.
When trying to run the Codesys for OPC UA demos by Factory IO I run into issues I have not been able to solve.
I have downloaded Codeys v3.5 and patched it with patch 40 (or at least the latest).
I have pasted all relevant variable and the ST program from the Factory IO tutorial, but never managed to download it to the simulated local PLC. I am not able to find the local gateway at all.
Looking at my systems tray, both the local gateway and the local PLC seems to run just fine.
I am till not able to connect to the gateway, and it even seems to be showing that in the UI tree.
Hello. There is somehow an unwritten "how to use a sample project" that everyone somehow knows. I don't know why this procedure is not more prominent. Probably because you only need to learn it once.
1. Right click the red squigly underlined device and select "Update device". Choose the latest version of your device and the button "update device".
2. Menu >> Project >> Project Environment. "set all to newest" button. "OK" button.
Your project is now up to date.
Double click the device (which is no longer red squigly underlined) to open his editor. The Communication Settings tab is now open. Choose your device from a gateway.
Press the Login button.
If you would like to refer to this comment somewhere else in this project, copy and paste the following link:

Thanks a lot for getting back to me on this issue.
I did the steps you suggested and the red line readily disappeared.
When trying to connect to to the local gateway I still get a connection
error, just as before though.

That's strange.. is your Gateway started?
Yes, it is. It seems to run just fine, weirdly enough.

Does it have something to do with running as admin or ports to be opened in
a firewall?
