Hello,
I have a KEB C6 LC-HMI and I am trying to communicate with a Beckhoff BK1120 fieldbus coupler over EtherCAT. I have successfully added the bus coupler in the device tree (navigator in KEB Combivis) but I cannot seem to scan or add the (5) KL-series I/O modules beyond the coupler. I have added the .xml description files for the KL-series to the file folder where the device repository is looking, and when I scan for devices on the EtherCAT master, I can see the BK1120 but below it are only (5) numerical strings. When I try to "install missing descriptions" and point to the .xml files I want, I get the "It is not possible to install device descriptions from the device repository" error.
Are these I/O modules accessible in the tree? The Beckhoff technical assistant seemed to think it may require "byte mapping" to access these, but suggested I check here.
Thank you very much for your help! I installed the MDP xml file in Device Repository per your direction and was able to add the IO devices individually.

you need to have the MDP version of the ESI files:
See here:
Guess the Beckhoff support will send them out if you ask for them:
