I am trying to drive 2 stepper motor with Beckhoff EL2521 pulse generators.
If I scan ethercat bus, codesys find EK1100 coupler and 2 EL2521 terminals, but don´t use softmotion drive. If I go online and run there isn´t any error. The Ethercat bus is running.
If I manually insert EK1100 coupler and 2 EL2521, I can choice EL2521 terminal with softmotion drive but when I go online and run my proyect there is a configuration error and ethercat terminals don´t work.
How can I use EL2521 terminals with softmotion drivers?
thanks, regards,
Iban

Hi,
I think the problem is caused by using Control Win.
This plc is not realtime capable. The SoftMotion drivers need an activated distributed clock setting.
Now you have two options: Switch to Control RTE or any other realtime capable plc type this is the best solition
or wait for my description ( i need to check) how to work around it with Control Win (not sure if this works reliable maybe more for testing pupose)
This does only work with this ELxxxx kombination... not with other drives.
BR Edwin

Hello Edwin,
We are working with Softmotion RTE and EL2521 to drive stepper motors in pulse/dir configuration.
Working with MC_Jog instances we observe erratic behavior when JogBackward is activated.
In JogFordward motion we see that leds in EL2521 modules blink as expected ("A" led blinks and "B" led fixed).
In JogBackward motion we see that motor does not work and leds do not blink as expected. Both "A" and "B" leds blinks.
This is not the expected behavior for pulse/dir configuration.
Suggestions are wellcome..

HI Guys, I am new here and I am in need of some advice.
I want to create my own delta robot and control it with a Raspberry pi and CODESYS robotics. Do you know if I could use the EK1100 Coupling and the EL2521 pulse train output for this?
How can I add those products in the "Insert Device" CODESYS window? I can not find them.
Thanks folks!!!

hi,
just scan these Ethercat devices - and then -> update device from the default EL2521 to the one which comes with the CODESYS setup including SoftMotion.

Hi,
you need to post the errors otherwise we could not help.
Please send the plclog... guess you will see there the error reason.

Hello,
How can I get plclog?
How can I upload a Image?
thanks,
Ivan
Hello,
I revised online help, I attach you photo

Good aftenoon,
I have tested using Raspberry pi and is in green. No configuration error.
I attach photo.
I don´t test a stepper motor still but at least there isn´t configuration error.
I haven´t option of RTE in my installation of codesys, Have I to download from codesys store RTE software and install?
I will like use my PC as PLC.
thanks, regards
Iban
Hi,
you Control RTE from the CODESYS store.
Sure with Pi it will work, if not you need to a apply a rt_preemt realtime patch.

Hello,
I am going to test

Hi ibantxispas
Did you do successfully with Beckhoff EL2521 terminals?
Do you use RTE or just normal Pi control
Please share for me, I involve same project with you

Has anyone tried with EL2521 and control Win V3?
I'm not able to get it working..
