Post by stevens on No option to create "Parameter List" in library CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I am struggling with this issue right now (again). I have nested structures with configurable array sizes. In the past I ever used parameter list. Very easy way! As of now I cannot find any solution. Ridiculous that they deprecated it without an alternative solution.

Post by sandro66 on Application-based license Modbus Channels CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, I imported an old project created with version 3.51.20.50 into the new version 3.51.21.20. I'm using ModbusFB.ClientTCP v4.5.0.0. Strangely, I can no longer download the project due to a licensing issue I didn't have before. The number of Modbus channels has gone from 1 to 54!, and there's no license that would work. Can anyone tell me where I'm going wrong? Thanks Sandro

Post by timvh on Get Alarm status in Codesys CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
You are right, that you can use the GetState method, but it is not that simple. You first have to get a list of (filtered) alarms from the AlarmManager. You can find an example in Forge how to do this. See https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/alarm-manager/home/Home/ Then you can go through this list to get the state of all the (filtered) alarms. See below the code which you could use. This is all based on the example from forge. Create a program: // This example shows how to access alarms via structured text. PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR xInit : BOOL := TRUE; udiResult : UDINT; fbAlarmFilterCriteriaAll : FB_AlarmFilterCriteriaAll; fbAlarmManagerClient : FB_AlarmManagerClient; itfAlarmManagerClient : IAlarmManagerClient := fbAlarmManagerClient; xAlarm1 : BOOL; xAlarm2 : BOOL; xWarning : BOOL; iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList : INT; iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList : INT; paitfAlarm: POINTER TO ARRAY [0..0] OF AlarmManager.IAlarm; iAlarmIndex : INT; eAlarmState: AlarmManager.AlarmState; END_VAR IF xInit THEN xInit := FALSE; fbAlarmManagerClient.itfAlarmFilterCriteria := fbAlarmFilterCriteriaAll; // register alarm client to get updated about alarm status / changes udiResult := AlarmManager.g_AlarmHandler.RegisterClient(itfAlarmManagerClient, 0, 0); END_IF // Polling the number of alarms udiResult := AlarmManager.g_AlarmHandler.GetActiveAlarms(itfAlarmManagerClient, parritfActiveAlarms => paitfAlarm, iCountActiveAlarms => iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList); iAlarmIndex := 0; iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList := 0; WHILE iAlarmIndex < iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList DO eAlarmState := paitfAlarm^[iAlarmIndex].GetState(); IF eAlarmState = AlarmManager.AlarmState.Active OR eAlarmState = AlarmManager.AlarmState.ActiveAcknowledged THEN iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList := iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList + 1; END_IF iAlarmIndex := iAlarmIndex + 1; END_WHILE See below some details about the function blocks: One function block should implement the IAlarmFilterCriteria interface. This can be empty except a few methods. FUNCTION_BLOCK FB_AlarmFilterCriteriaAll IMPLEMENTS AlarmManager.IAlarmFilterCriteria Method implementation (others related to interface are empty) METHOD AreAllAlarmClassesSelected : BOOL AreAllAlarmClassesSelected := TRUE; METHOD AreAllAlarmGroupsSelected : BOOL AreAllAlarmGroupsSelected := TRUE; METHOD GetPriorityFrom : USINT GetPriorityFrom := 0; METHOD GetPriorityTo : USINT GetPriorityTo := 255; The other function block should implement IAlarmManagerClient and get a reference to the FB which implements the IAlarmFilterCriteria FUNCTION_BLOCK FB_AlarmManagerClient IMPLEMENTS AlarmManager.IAlarmManagerClient VAR_INPUT itfAlarmFilterCriteria: AlarmManager.IAlarmFilterCriteria; END_VAR Method implementation (others related to the interface are empty) METHOD GetFilterCriteria : AlarmManager.IAlarmFilterCriteria // see VAR_INPUT for filter GetFilterCriteria := itfAlarmFilterCriteria; Off course you have to add the AlarmManager to your application and add some alarms to it.

Post by timvh on CoDeSys v3.5: creating libraries for both 32-bit and 64-bit controllers CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Yes, you are right. I think the help is pretty clear: https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_library_development.html It helps you to find errors in the source code of your library if you want to create a library which is using pointers and you want to use your library on 32 and/or 64 bit platforms.

Post by gseidel on The default ramp type selection in SoftMotion V4.18.0.0 is Quadratic CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi imdatatas, thanks for your feedback. This change was intentional, as the quadratic ramp type has many advantages over the trapez ramptype. Sorry to hear it causes problems in your situation. Can you please shortly explain the nature of the problems? Best regards, Georg

Post by gseidel on Dynamic target position tracking CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi kporter, a more direct way would be to use SMC_FollowPosition to write the set positions directly to the servo drive. This FB has reacts on changes of the fSetPosition on each call, without a need for a rising edge on Execute. See https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/SM3_Basic/Current/SM3_Basic/POUs/Movement/Direct/SMC_FollowPosition.html. Best regards, Georg

Post by snhatton on How to write a for loop in ladder? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi there, little late to the party, but you could also use the ST block for in-line ST code and implement a for loop as you normally would. ST Block is super handy if you just need a small amount of in-line structured text code without creating a new POU. Hope this helps!

Post by arjunk on How to correctly create a device descriptor (.devdesc.xml) for a custom Linux ARM64 PLC in CODESYS 3.5.21.20? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, I’m evaluating CODESYS for our devices. If I buy a standard runtime and the Toolkit, can I create a custom device descriptor so users can select my device (instead of just β€œCODESYS Control for Linux ARM64 SL”) when starting a new project? Has anyone done this or know if it’s possible? Thanks!

Post by ph0010421 on TCP/IP client CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello TCIS_Send needs to be longer than 4 bytes because idata is 28 bytes long. There may be other ways, but I would make a UNION with string/array of bytes. Write your STRING into the AsString part then copy the AsBytes part into TCIS_Send (Elements [3] to [30]) then 252 would be in [31] (I've assumed the idata is always the same length)

Hi! I'm still on the hunt for drivers for example TCA9548 and a list or somewhere where all devices for raspberry is gathered. as this post is quite old I'm hoping/gussing that there is somewhere where work after 2021 is gathered? Or has the raspberry part if the community slowed down on creating device drivers?

Just verified the behaviour. Still is the same. It should be attached here. But I also tried the DCF-file with the axis in the lab with the real drive: The MC_Power block never goes out of busy. Had not time to investigate further, though.

Post by tvm on Cannot pass array of constant size to a function as a reference CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
It will be a reference, because it's a VAR_IN_OUT. it's a little weird debugging the array online. It just shows as a POINTER TO INT, and you can't actually see the array from the function side. But you can still work with it as a normal array, not a pointer.

so it is not possible for me to use the function blocks and through them I can select the digital outputs of the PLC so that pulses and direction are output, or some function block that does this reading and in it I can program the pulse and direction outputs for the drive?

I'm Having the same issue. If I highlight PLC Logic and import it erases everything else and replaces the Task config. If I highlight the Application I get the same result. Simple manual fix is click and drag the task config onto the origional Application, and delete the second one. Easy fix but not the expected result of importing task config.

Hello We started with the new design of Codesys, through a "CODESYS Control Standard S" license. However, after installing the license, connecting, etc. (without any problems), we cannot get the program into the PLC with entries that we have not seen before. Is there anyone who has also experienced this? Better yet, does anyone have the solution?

Hi Martin, I got the messagekey of the "upgrade format warning dialog" with key:"<< No Key>>". (please refer to the attachment) Is that means i can't use system.prompt_answers["<<No Key>>"] = PromptResult.OK; to auto-answer 'OK' in this dialog? Is there any other way to auto-answer this dialog? Thanks!

Post by wiresplus on Connect to remote PLC via local pc and teamviewer CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, Depends on the architecture of your PLC. If the PLC is a PC-based item with a normal desktop environment, then you probably can. I find it simpler to install an IIoT Router in the panel, and use an encripted VPN to link to my office PC / Laptop on demand.

Post by hagroth on v3.5 SP19 - Modbus TCP Devices - Channel Limit? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Today I was struggling with the same problem. in search for a solution i found this thread. Then i tried some things. It doesn't seem to be just a libraries' fault. In addition to 3.5.19, we also have a 3.5.18 version installed, the library versions of Modbus_TCP_Master and Modbus_TCP_Slave are the same, but more than 10 slave channels can be added in 3.5.18

Post by mondinmr on Why SysPipeWindows is not implemented in RTE? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
This library would be very useful for IPC communications. Using a UDP socket on localhost is unpredictable, as with slightly loaded machines it does not even guarantee packet delivery locally. Using TCP creates a lot of overhead. Message named pipes would be an excellent solution for Windows RTE. On Linux, since the release of the extension package, there is no issue, as it is sufficient to develop a component. However, although now 90% of our clients understand that Linux runtimes are better in every way compared to Windows RTE, especially from the security aspect (Not in kernel space) and the issues with Windows updates, 10% stubbornly insist (sometimes for trivial commercial reasons) on using Windows. Managing IPC with circular buffers in shared memory is quite ugly, or rather really ugly and unaesthetic. In the manuals, I saw the SysPipeWindows libraries, so I decided to test them, but unfortunately, I noticed that they are not implemented for RTE devices. Technically, I could try to open them as regular files, but SysFileOpen returns 16#27 or 16#39 depending on how I set the name (direction of the slashes). Here is the code to create shared memory and named pipes. Shared memory work great, named pipes no! #ifdef Q_OS_WIN32 SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES sa; SECURITY_DESCRIPTOR sd; InitializeSecurityDescriptor(&sd, SECURITY_DESCRIPTOR_REVISION); SetSecurityDescriptorDacl(&sd, TRUE, NULL, FALSE); sa.nLength = sizeof(SECURITY_ATTRIBUTES); sa.lpSecurityDescriptor = &sd; sa.bInheritHandle = FALSE; const wchar_t* name = L"Global\\ShmTest"; HANDLE hMapFile = CreateFileMapping( INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE, NULL, PAGE_READWRITE, 0, sizeof(SharedData), name); if (hMapFile == NULL) { qCritical("Error creating shared memory"); return 1; } data = static_cast<SharedData*>(MapViewOfFile(hMapFile, FILE_MAP_ALL_ACCESS, 0, 0, sizeof(SharedData))); if (data == NULL) { qCritical("Error mapping shared memory"); return 1; } HANDLE hPipe = CreateNamedPipe( TEXT("\\\\.\\pipe\\MyPipe"), PIPE_ACCESS_DUPLEX, PIPE_TYPE_MESSAGE | PIPE_READMODE_MESSAGE | PIPE_WAIT, PIPE_UNLIMITED_INSTANCES, 1024 * 1024, 1024 * 1024, NMPWAIT_USE_DEFAULT_WAIT, &sa); if (hPipe == INVALID_HANDLE_VALUE) { qCritical("Error creating named pipe"); return -1; } if (!ConnectNamedPipe(hPipe, NULL)) { qCritical("Error connecting to named pipe"); return -1; } checkPipe(hPipe); #endif

Post by dhumphries on Using Codesys example problems CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
You have to install any libraries needed by the sample program. Click the button with ... next to one of the errors (see attached image,) then choose download missing libraries. Codesys should automatically locate and install the missing libraries, it's not flawless though, I've had some issues getting libraries to install. The best advice I can give if it doesn't work is re-install Codesys.
