WHEREAS, I have already searched various posts and forums, where mostly there are few references and mostly geared toward integration in TwinCAT. I am looking for how to properly configure the EL6731 board as a DP master, (where I have its 3S license), with CoDeSys 3.5.19.x. I have three types of slaves, all integrated with their GSD descriptors. In the tab for the various slaves, I don't see options related to node restart on 'station return'. On the card manual, I read that for each slave I should be able to configure parameter 8000:2C: “8000:2C Restart behavior after DP fault Reserve, must be 0 BIT1 RW 0x00 (0dec)” However, in the project I see no way to configure this parameter, in any of the boards; and the arrays do not always have such an extensive size; most of the time they are only two or three words in size. The problem is that, after the hot reset of CoDeSys, the master restarts by starting all slave nodes, but if one or more get lost and go offline, there is then no automatic restart upon their return. I would need to figure out any solution, even via software, how to figure out that this one is back available and restart it.

Im looking for a way to define predefined version of the same structures through "extends"/inheritance. What I want to do is best shown with an example: TYPE log_item_val_type : ( BOOL_ := 0, INT_, REAL_, STRING_ ); END_TYPE TYPE LOG_DATA_BASE STRUCT val_type : log_item_val_type; (* value, name etc *) ENDSTRUCT ENDTYPE (* this/below is not possible as I understand from the compiler?? *) TYPE LOG_DATA_BOOL extends LOG_DATA_BASE : STRUCT val_type : log_item_val_type := log_item_val_type.BOOL_; END_STRUCT END_TYPE TYPE LOG_DATA_INT extends LOG_DATA_BASE : STRUCT val_type : log_item_val_type := log_item_val_type.INT_; END_STRUCT END_TYPE etc. for LOG_DATA_REAL and ..STRING. The system will not allow me to "re-define" "val_type" however. Instead I must do the work-around of defining four different types with all fields individually defined. The benefit if I could extend the base item would be that Im (more) sure the structures are identical. In usage I can call in a specific type rather use the base type and assign which type. Usage by pointer/ref to log_data_base would also be easier.. (* Usage: *) log_data : log_data_int := (name, value etc.) (* Instead of: *) log_data : log_data_base := (name, value, val_type).. Is this possible to achieve in some way that I have missed?

I have checked my BIOS to make sure my secure boot status is disabled, see attached image. when I go to component manager, the drop down menu doesnt have the new network adapter, see attached image. I have not yet purchased or installed any licenses is that what I am missing? What other reason is there that I can't download to the runtime. Thanks

I have done the switch (linux mint, virtual windows through QEMU/KVM) now and is generally pleased. Have had problems in two areas initially. To bridge IP to the Virtual unit (solved), I overthought things initially. Solution. Configure manually a bridge in the mint-"network connections". Use that bridge in the Qemu settings as "Bridge device", "Device name": "name of the configured bridge" Figure out where to store the projects. I started out have the data in linux world (sort of) and linking it the windows with "virtio-fs". That had some serious impact though on git-handling. It seems that virtio-fs interpreted any file-path as lowercase only even if there were uppercase, resulting in git not able to sync files between its repository and the source code (it created a new file-path for me with only lowercase). Then I switch to samba-share instead and this works much better, though (git-actions) is a part that still has low performance with lots of waiting for file-actions. What should be the best way of handling the source/git? Edit to answer myself: Save the project "locally" in windows, then a lot of slow performance is avoided. Then a git-remote sync for backup.

Hi there, Task: dynamical changing the scaling of an bar graph, linear scaling whitout showing the bar only the scaling values and Lines for Main and partial steps. Define 4 Limits for Hi and LO Values with different colors Option 1 : use the bar graph whitout showing the actual bar whitout showing the bar, only the scaling values and lines for main and partial steps. Then what to do with the 4 Limits ? I could use 4 moveable Rectangles with the start and end value fo the areas but then the whoel bargraph must be transparent. Best way would be if only the scale ist possible to show as it is possible for the Meter 180° but this option does not exist for the bargraph. Option 2 : user defined HMTL5 Widgets wich may be some allreay has created or where is a dome for using this kind of html5 widget. The expanse for use html is in my eyes to big and gives more option for errors. Have some one experience in this topic or a hint how to do it the easiest way? Thanks for your help.

Hello, I am trying to create an Ethernet/IP device that can read analog signals, do some basic logic on it and then hand communicate the results to an Ethernet/IP master. I am using the Raspberry Pi to experiment with this as I would ultimately like to drive a display as well. I have loaded up the runtime on the Pi and got the digital I/O working. I have an ADS1115 ADC to I2C board and I can't get it to work, I get a message telling me the i2c master is not running and I am not sure where to start with this. Is there a manual for running CODESYS on the Pi or something like that I am missing? I found this post and opening the project in CODESYS V3.5 SP21 it seems like tons of this wouldn't convert properly https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Runtime/thread/f1400b71b6/ I have added in the library and device manually and copied the structured text program but lost at what to do if the core functionality of the master is not running. I appreciate any help, thanks.

Hello, I'm trying to use a raspberryPi 5 as a PLC. I fixed its IP address, I can ping it. I've also installed the CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi 64 SL runtime on it. So I've created a gateway (IP address of the Raspberry, TCP port 1217). I see the green dot next to this gateway. When I do a network scan, I can see my raspberry (see photo). When I try to connect to it, I have to define an administrator profile, which I do. On validation, I see a message: No device is responding to the scan request. I've checked that port 1217 is listening on the raspberry, I've uninstalled the runtime then installed it again, but I can't connect. Also, when I try to configure the user groups before connecting, I see that Offline mode is not supported by the device, even though I'm connected to it in the Deploy Control SL tab. When I try to refresh, I see: Gateway not configured properly. How can I connect to my Raspberry? Have I defined my gateway incorrectly?

ditto I'm just getting my codesys wheels on and the modbus stuff is confusing. I am re-platforming an existing PLC application On that platform one could simply tag variables to register numbers and the whole shooting match could be accessed via modbus and typically holding registers and input registers were treated the same way... On codesys I see there is a modbus TCP server Device I/O mapping tab and a Modbus TCP server IEC objects tab I get the sense that one can configure the serving of variables both/either way but am unclear about the optimum/necessary path. Apparently in the IEC Objects tab one can "ADD" something or other - presumeably channels. I have created a preliminary function block but the Select Function Block window shows nothing to select WTH ? I exported the Device mapping and was surprised to see the entire Device IO map - complete with all the bit-mapped holding/input registers!! WTH!!?? Bit-mapped words are strictly a nichey special purpose application. I am targetting making a couple hundred variables available which would turn into hundreds of pages of IO/mapping Is the FUnction Block IEC objects thingy an alternative to that ? I notice that CODESYS shows the tags which the PLC used to specify the register address... are tags used in CODESYS for any specific hard-core purpose ?

My goal is to re-platform an existing PLC application written in 61131 ST I've got the majority of the code/variables in a compilable form - excluding all the IO and comms nuances I am not sure whether this the right forum An important functionality which I implemented on the other platform was totally dynamic modbus devices... Most configurations I have come across impose static MB configs in which all configured devices MUST be present and functional... I have monkeyed around with MB enough to know that herding a half dozen MB cats into a working config can be tricky. I just do them one at a time and dynamically turn them on/off in whatever combination is convenient with ID, IP, baud, parity etc being runtime tweakable. I am totally curious whether this is possible with codesys, or whether its device configuration corrals one into a static cage which requires re-building the code to support flexible variations. I think it depends on what you consider as redundant. Is it allowed to plug the network cable in another device (server), move the USB key with license to the other device (server) and then start it up? Or should it automatically switch over within msec and take over the communication with the I/O flawlessly without noticing the switchover? We helped several customers setting up the CODESYS Redundancy functionality and the nice thing is that when you have it up and running, you can easily switchover from active to passive and when you download a new applicaiton, CODESYS handles the update of boot project on the passive controller automatically. Sure this will require an additional license and the license for redundancy, but if your installation is that critical it should be worth it. Please contact us (Extend Smart Coding) if you need any further information. We could help you setup the configuration and possibly provide the licenses for it (I noticed you are situated in the Netherlands).

Sorry for the question, but I'm not completely getting the idea here, could you be more specific, maybe give an example? I'm now in a state where I don't have a softcontainer on my license server anymore (even after reinstalling from the Codesys-IDE). I tried reaching the webserver of Codemeter but when I do that I get redirected to http://"IP":22352 This is not reachable, afterwards I installed lynx on my Debian machine (command line only). From here I could reach the webserver and toggle the network server setting, but unfortunately this did not help. I also tried to changed the remote read setting to 1 (in the Server.ini file). But after a Codemeter reboot this is overwritten to 0. I have the feeling that it should be much easier to get a license to work, am I missing some checkbox somewhere? Is there a tutorial (or manual) that explains the licensing sequence step by step, because I'm pretty stuck.

Hello everyone, I'm hoping for some assistance with a license activation issue: a software crash has left my license in a strange state. Here is the sequence of events: I purchased a new license for the Raspberry PI from the official CODESYS web store. I opened the CODESYS and started the online activation process using the ticket number I received. During the activation, the CODESYS software threw an exception and crashed. I was not able to see if the activation completed. After restarting CODESYS, I attempted to run the activation process again with the same ticket number. The License Manager now gives me an error stating that the ticket has already been activated/used. I am now stuck because my installation is not licensed, but the activation server believes my ticket has been consumed. Has anyone encountered this before? Is there a way to have the ticket status reset?

Hello I'm trying to use the DocScripting collection in Codesys. I've made it work on one PC(1) for the 3.5.16.4 version of the script collection. But when I try the same setup on another PC(2), I get an error message: Error loading Python DLL: D:\SCRIPTING\3.5.16.40\python27.dll (error code 14001) My setup on both PC's is thus: 1. Downloaded and installed Python 2. Copied the folder with the scripting collection to C: (because of admin rights) 3. Placed my .library file in the same folder as the scripting collection Only difference is that Python is v3.12.0 on PC1 and v3.12.1 on PC2. I thought maybe it was something with Python, but then I have tried using the scripting collection from 3.5.16.1, and that seems to work. Just not for scripting collection 3.5.16.4. I also can't seem to find any scripting collections on newer versions of Codesys? (e.g. 3.5.19.10) Thanks in advance!

It automatically directed me to CODESYS, where I was able to create the "Create Boot Project" but first I also clicked login again but inside CODESYS keeping the automation builder login online. Additional Information: The "Create Boot Project" function in CODESYS is used to create a project that will automatically start when the controller is booted up. To create a boot project, you must first create a new project in CODESYS. Once you have created a new project, you can then use the "Create Boot Project" function to create a boot application. The "Create Boot Project" function will create a new application that is based on the current project. The new application will be saved in the same location as the current project. You can then download the new application to the controller.

Hello together I'm currently investing in possibilities to have a central engineering software / system for Codesys based controllers. Something like a DCS / SCADA depending on where you see the functionality. We plan to use more or less vanilla codesys. The tool should support the following: - Connect to multiple PLC's in a project to see its variables and debug it. - Central Engineering capabilities (for example shared libraries in a project). - Download the new code / binaries to the plc. - Maybe have functionality to combine visualization elements and logic together. - See the live status variables on all the systems (crosscommunication). I see that codesys theoretically supports engineering of multiple PLC's, but I couldnt find to much functionality for a DCS type of operation, but that could be lack of knowledge. Any tips from you? Is Codesys good enough for this and maybe there are some manufacturers which build around it? Or are there good tools on the market with Codesys support (and the engineering is separate, but download to codesys possible). The use case is distributed energy installations like Heating pumps, Photovoltaics, etc. All these installations should have a PLC with codesys installed and run in one larger network, the PLC's are connected via VPN. I have set up a brandnew Beckhoff panel pc with a codesys control runtime V3. I configured it together with 2 profinet field devices: a 16in/16out IO module from Turck and an MTS linear encoder. The machine works fine untill all of a sudden the communication breaks and the profinet participants become unreachable. At that point I can still ping the device, but the profinet master does not find them anymore: When i do a scan they are not found. When i do a cold restart, the profinet master becomes active again and the devices are found again. In the log i get Ethercat packet receive error: sysethernet. I am a little confused, there is no ethercat device in the device tree. I already set the send clock and the reduction ratio to higher values, but without result. Can codesys be configured, so that the communication re-establishes without doing the cold reset? This is very annoying and is causing a lot of prodution losses. regards Tim

Hello all I am using an AxisGroup with the Gantry2 Kinematics to move a 2D-Gantry system. When creating the AxisGroup, the SoftMotion_PlanningTask is created automatically with a cycle time of 2 ms in my case. I realized that the maximum cycle time of this task can spike to very high values (up to 60 ms) at lower speeds of the motion, leading to synchronization issues and errors on the axes. The same behaviour - though not as drastic - can be observed with virtual axes too. Is this behaviour intended or to be expected? Can the cycle time or type of the SoftMotion_PlanningTask be changed to prevent these errors? Or is there another fix for this issue? I tried changing the cycle type to Freewheeling, which solved the synchronization issues, but caused an error on the AxisGroup after a while, reading SMC_CP_QUEUE_UNDERRUN. Hi, I'm trying to monitor a specific PGN which I have it sending a pulse every 500mS Problem: Using the Watchdog for the ECU does not really help me as I have multiple instances with separate PGNs, if a PGN goes ghost, the ECU watchdog won't be flagged as the others will be running. I found the J1939.ReceiveWatchdog & J1939.ReceiveParameterGroup function blocks and they seem like a good solution for my problem, I just can't get them to work from my understanding you just build the J1939.ReceiveParameterGroup once and then connect it's output to the J1939.ReceiveWatchdog, here's my CODE for the setup HEARTBEAT_TIMER(IN:= TRUE, PT:= T#1000MS); //turn-on delay because of initialization race IF HEARTBEAT_TIMER.Q= TRUE THEN Glob_Var.DisplayReceive.xExecute:= TRUE; Glob_Var.DisplayReceive.itfECU:= Valve_X; Glob_Var.DisplayReceive.dwPGN:= 65511; Glob_Var.DisplayWatchdog.xEnable:= TRUE; Glob_Var.DisplayWatchdog.itfParameterGroup:= Glob_Var.DisplayReceive.itfParameterGroup; Glob_Var.DisplayWatchdog.tTimeout:= T#1500MS; END_IF Notes: Glob_Var.DisplayReceive is of type J1939.ReceiveParameterGroup Glob_Var.DisplayWatchdog is of type J1939.ReceiveWatchdog The above code is done once and not cyclically I'm monitoring Glob_Var.DisplayWatchdog.xError cyclically
