Hi everyone. My question about: where I can learn (read or watch) an info about codesys workflow through the system IO libs? I want to know how to implement I/O drivers by my self. In the system libs I see many interfaces, methods etc... But there is no explanation about them, just names of methods and fields of the FBs. I know about this page: https://forge.codesys.com/drv/io-drivers/doc/Generic/ There is so BIG the device description file and not so clear explaining of the attributes and elements, also some elements or attributes missed at it all. Yes, there are code examples on this page, but, so shortly and, for example, code about Modbus drivers is absent. And even if I try to add the IoDrvFB with lib, I get and error, something like: "failed to load IoDrvFB driver". And what about the book of codesys that written by Gary Pratt? Is there information about system libs and drivers in this book more clearly? Thank you :)

If support for a containerized CODESYS runtime with a license isn't feasible, then I've considered an alternative approach: I've purchased and activated a "CODESYS Control Basic S" license on my Windows notebook, where I already have the Codemeter Control Center installed. Upon activation, I can see the CODESYS license as active on my notebook. Subsequently, I followed the instructions provided in this link (https://faq.codesys.com/display/CDSFAQ/How+to%3A+Setup+a+Wibu+Network+Server+Access+for+Licenses) to configure the Wibu runtime in the CODESYS container to access my external license server hosted on my notebook by editing the CODESYSControl_User.cfg file accordingly. However, it's worth noting that I'm still receiving a response from the Licensing Manager indicating that the runtime is persistently searching for a dongle instead of recognizing the soft container. So how can I get my runtime licensed now? Any ideas?

I just installed codesys runtime on a raspberry pi Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.5GHz (Compute Module 4) I am running on Codesys control for raspberry pi 64 SL ver 4.13.0 and I keep getting a crash after about five to ten minutes. This program was running fine on a 32bit system with runtime 4.8 previously but they upgraded the panel PC cause it got smashed. Looking at the logs I see this error "ERROR: GetNetLinkSockAndInfoByMac(): could not open netlink socket: Too many open files" at the time of crash. I do have a UDP socket open for a serial to ethernet adapter and im wondering if maybe its opening a bunch of sockets and while receiving messages, Im not sending anything to the device only receiving. Hello, I am experiencing an intermittent OPC UA server issue on CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL 4.21.0.0. Runtime information: codesyscontrol 4.21.0.0 Raspberry Pi 4 Model B Rev 1.1 - 4Gb OPC UA Server: CmpOPCUAServer 3.5.22.x Server IP: 192.168.0.110 OPC UA endpoint: opc.tcp://192.168.0.110:4840 The main OPC UA client is Node-RED running on 192.168.0.111. This has an active subscription with some tags and also some write functions active. The system normally works correctly for a period, but at some time the OPC UA communication stopped. Node-RED started reconnecting continuously but could not reconnect. I also tried connecting using UaExpert, but UaExpert returned: BadTimeout At the same time, the PLC application itself was still running. Before restarting CODESYS, I captured the TCP connections. The OPC UA server was still listening: tcp 11 0 192.168.0.110:4840 0.0.0.0:* LISTEN However, there were many connections from the Node-RED client stuck in CLOSE_WAIT: 192.168.0.110:4840 192.168.0.111:45008 CLOSE_WAIT 192.168.0.110:4840 192.168.0.111:53678 CLOSE_WAIT 192.168.0.110:4840 192.168.0.111:44032 CLOSE_WAIT 192.168.0.110:4840 192.168.0.111:36612 CLOSE_WAIT 192.168.0.110:4840 192.168.0.111:45012 CLOSE_WAIT 192.168.0.110:4840 192.168.0.111:36592 CLOSE_WAIT ... Some of these sockets also had data remaining in Recv-Q, for example: Recv-Q = 61 Recv-Q = 121 There were roughly 15–20 OPC UA connections in CLOSE_WAIT. Restarting only the CODESYS runtime immediately restored OPC UA communication. After restart: LISTEN 0 10 192.168.0.110:4840 and both Node-RED and UaExpert can connect normally again. There are no obvious OPC UA errors during startup or in log. On RPI 2 I had a memory leak regarding OPCUA so I had to upgrade to RPI4. What can I do in this case? Thank you!

I don't have time to go through the whole manual but as I said earlier, the servo drive does not support any of the modes needed for SoftMotion Light to work. If you want to use the full SoftMotion, you could use SMC_Homing function block to do the homing. This function block does not use the Homing Mode. It still uses the CSP mode and does the logic in Codesys runtime instead of in the servo drive. Read the documentation about it to see if it fits your needs. But if your controller only supports SoftMotion Light, I am afraid you will not be able to use the i950. I do a lot of motion stuff with different servo brands. Some support all the modes needed for SoftMotion Light and some don't. You really need to make sure the modes are supported before choosing a brand over another. I tend not to use brand specific controllers in order not to be limited by their supported features. I usually choose a PC (Linux or Windows) and install the Codesys runtime and licences myself. This is the most flexible way to use Codesys in my opinion. Depending on how many axes are needed in your project, a full SoftMotion license may not be more expensive than SoftMotion Light because SoftMotion is available as Application based license whereas SoftMotion Light is not. But of course, SoftMotion is harder on the CPU than SoftMotion Light.

Cartesian XY Chart visualization element (System_VisuElemXYChart / VisuElemXYChart). Summary: When a curve's Data X/Data Y is bound to a two-dimensional array, the element treats the last array dimension as the per-point record (the one selected by "Element to use") and iterates the first dimension as the sequence of curve points. The online documentation's worked example has the dimensions in the opposite order, so following it produces a non-functional curve and a nonsensical "Element to use" list. Steps to reproduce (fails — matches the documented layout): 1. Declare aData : ARRAY[0..1, 0..4095] OF LREAL; (2 data sets × 4096 points, i.e. first dimension = set, second = point). 2. In XY Chart Configuration, bind a curve's Data X (and Y) Variable to this array. 3. Observe the "Element to use" combobox. Actual result: The "Element to use" combobox lists 4096 entries (the indices of the second dimension) instead of 2 (the data sets in the first dimension). Selecting a row does not produce the expected curve; at most a single/degenerate point is plotted. Steps to reproduce (works — transposed): 1. Declare aData : ARRAY[0..4095, 0..1] OF LREAL; (points first, set second). 2. Bind Data X/Y to this array; "Element to use" now correctly lists [0] and [1]. 3. Populate aData[point, set] and the curve plots as expected. Expected result: Either the documented example should select the data set from the first dimension (as its [1]/[2] "Element to use" implies), or the documentation should state that the last dimension is the record dimension (stride) and the first dimension is the point sequence — consistent with how the element actually behaves. Analysis: The behavior is self-consistent if the element always walks a single array by a fixed byte stride, reading one element per point — the same mechanism as the documented "one-dimensional array of a DUT" case, where it strides by SIZEOF(DUT) and "Element to use" picks the member offset. For a 2-D array the record is the last dimension: to plot column/set c it starts at [0, c] and strides by the last-dimension length to reach [1, c], [2, c], … (row-major layout makes this a contiguous column walk). Under that rule, ARRAY[0..N, 0..1] is correct (record length 2 → "Element to use" [0]/[1]), and the documented ARRAY[1..2, 1..50] with "Element to use" [1]/[2] is transposed. Either way, a corrected example plus an explicit statement of which dimension is the point sequence vs. the record/stride dimension would prevent others from hitting this. Two separate 1-D arrays for Data X and Data Y work correctly and are unaffected.

I am in the process of getting a visualization to work with the codesys keyboard. I created a custom keyboard which works fantastic for all input fields in the main visualization. I created a user management for my runtime, which gave me the standard blue login page. The codesys keyboard does not show up when trying to enter the usernam or password. I have tried every setting: changing the keyboard back to the standard codesys keyboard, and changing various settings on the visualization manager with no success. I can only use a physical keyboard connected to the device to enter the password. I did try removing the keyboard to no success either. I even tried creating my own login page so I could guarantee the keyboard showed up. This ended in disaster as I could not figure out the very complicated VisuUserManagement and VisuUserManagementDialog library, and documentation is contradictory or lacking. I imagine that an on screen keyboard is essential for many people's projects when using touchscreen panels, so I am wondering what others are doing. I would rather not use an external virtual keyboard (external to codesys) because this causes its own complications (I am working on a linux build with high securities).

hi, anyone else having trouble with opc ua in codesys sp20? i get Error 'BadIdentityTokenInvalid' was returned during ActivateSession i have tried both windows x64 runtime and linux runtime. i have created a completely new codesys project for this. in each of them i have only added the symbol configuration and selected one tag. i have tried several opc ua client, like ua expert, nodejs and python. all return Error 'BadIdentityTokenInvalid' was returned during ActivateSession so the problem must be the opc ua server.

The RTE will take the RTE license. The HMI will take the HMI license. For the Application Based Licenses, the Runtime will take the smallest which is required. So if you have an application running EtherCAT and no visualization, only the Control with support for EtherCAT is used. If you have another runtime which requires the visualization, it will take the smallest Control license which is required and available + the smallest visualization license which is required.

Hello eschwellinger, Thanks for your answer, with this I was finally able to make it work by doing the following : install CODESYS Control for Linux ARM SL v4.13.0 uninstall CODESYS Control for Linux ARM SL v4.13.0 and make sure to select "yes" when prompted to uninstall WIBU CodeMeter Lite Runtime (v8.10.6230.501) re-install "CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL" v4.13.0 It looks like the issue was probably related to the CodeMeter Runtime ?
