I know I'm thinking about this wrong -- too many decades of procedural and event-driven programming and only a few months of PLC ST programming...... I've created a visualization with a button that when pushed calls a method. I want the method to take a pressure reading, wait one minute and then take another pressure reading. I'm looking for leaks. I'm using TON for the delay. It seems like what is happening is that the method gets called once and it takes the first reading and starts the TON. But then execution continues, leaves that method call, and the second reading never happens. I can force the method to keep running until the whole thing is done with a While loop, but I understand that is considered BAD in PLC programming. If it push the button again to call the method again, it picks up where it left off and if the timer is complete then it runs the remaining code. How do I keep that method running until it is complete with just one call without using a while loop that ties up the PLC for a minute? Thanks! -Farren

Dear forum, We are currently doing some research on the Codesys KNX implementation (https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-knx-sl.html). We almost have it working but we are missing the last part. The setup: We have a Codesys virtual control container running on docker (4.17.0.0), the I/O is running over an Ethernet IP coupler (Weidmüller), and this is running fine. As far as I’m concerned this tells me that the ethernet device is working properly (the container has access to the outside world, including multicast). Underneath this ethernet adapter the KNX module is added (see picture). In the KNX device (Codesys) 2 input variables are added (see picture), and these are exported to ETS (ETS 5). In ETS A Codesys KNX device has been imported and the Codesys export was imported, afterwards the group addresses are attached to the variables (see picture). Afterwards this configuration is downloaded to the Codesys controller (Container) via ETS. ETS asks for the pressing of the programming button, when the virtual programming button is pressed the download starts and finishes without any errors. This tells me that ETS is communicating with the Codesys controller, and that the download process is ok (so far so good). Now the part where we are struggling with, somehow we need to convert the KNX TP to KNX IP. For this we have the following interface: Zenio KIPI SC (https://www.zennio.com/product/kipi-sc/) this is a KNX TP to IP interface. We have the following setup for this device (see picture) (an IP in the same subnet is used). We tried multiple combinations of IP addresses but the TP devices are simply not communicating to the Codesys container. Does anyone has any advice on what to try next. To make the question more explicit how can we link the TP bus to the Codesys device? Kind Regards Alex

Hello at all. After un upgrade of "CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi MC SL" from v4.7 to v4.9 SysFileOpen function stopped working. I'm not able to read or write files from the PLC application. Before this upgrade all worked fine. Perhaps I'm missing something or I didn't understand how to use placeholders at all. Is there a different syntax to use for "SysFileOpen" in order to use placeholders? Hi all, i am encounter a mystery problem with a build with rexroth drives at my work. At my company we are make a machine with two Rexroth Indradrives . The two drives are goes by ethercat protocol . To be more specific i am going from my plc to the Beckoff El1100 coupler and after to the first drive and from the first drive to the second. The second drive works with no problem but the first(motor) sometimes without any pattern start to make a mysterious noise like stop and suddenly goes on again. If i couldn't hear the noise from the motor i couldn't Imagine that this happen. After a lot of research i see that sometime i have some strange zeros from the drive to the plc? Really i am in a deadlock and I don't know how to continue. From the other side the values on the other drive(second)are stable . Hi I'm automation engineering student and I'm not yet quite familiar with CAN-bus. What I am trying to achieve, to send two byte message via CAN from Epec display to Scott Drive inverter. I'm using code template made with Epec Multitool in Codesys 3.5 Problem i'm facing is that drive responds with same COB-ID. In multitool, you can create TPDO/RPDO. And depending on that, display either sends or only receives. This is problem, because for parameter polling from drive, you need to send two byte request to 0x399 and drive responds with eight bytes. If request is longer, drive don't respond. 0x399 is currently setted as RPDO, so display doesn't send anything on startup and I made program that sends messages to 0x399 bytes 0 and 1 and bytes 3-7 are shown in display. If setted as TPDO, display send all eight bytes and therefor drive cannot respond. But, I think because they are defined as RPDO, display won't send message, although monitoring with Codesys, values are changed. Question is, how should COB-ID be configured in Codesys, so it wouldn't automatically start to send message but would send when needed?

Hi All, I use the analysis page in automation server to capture historical trends from my PLC - i only sample one point per hour but it does the job (for now) One issue I have is I often log on to analysis page to find the system has stopped recording trends from my PLC. To fix this, I need to choose "state information" in the "List view" under PLC and click "Reconnect" When I do this I see my variables listed under "parameters" under "PLC Details" start updating again and the trend in Data analyzer continues to update. My Question, Why do I need to manually reconnect? Is there a way to get automation server to automatically reconnect to the PLC so I continue to capture data from the PLC? Regards, Trent

Good morning, I'm new on Codesys Forge, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to talk about my problem. When I open my WebVisu pages with Microsoft Edge, or Chrome, the background and also some rectangles blinking without reason!!! The application is developed with Codesys 3.5.17.10 and run on Codesys HMI, same version (3.5.17.10). After several experiments I discover that the problem happens when I made dynamic the "End of area" property of a meter object, but I can't understand why this blinking problem happens. Also, the problem is only at the WebVisu page, the "normal" VISU pages (the ones opened when Codesys HMI start) work always perfectly. Another strange thing is that the problem happens only if on the same page, where there is the meter object, there is also a trend object!?!? Codesys HMI is running on a Virtual Machine (VMware Workstation 15 player, v.15.5.6) running Windows 10 Pro N 64-bit. The blinking problem happen also if I convert the project to Codesys 3.5.20.0. This version of Codesys and Codesys HMI are installed on a Virtual Machine running Windows Server 2019 Standard 64-bit. In attachment the archive of my project. The attached project has only one page, if "Enable Counter" is not pressed the "End of area" variable of the meter is not updated in the software, and everything work well, normal VISU and WebVisu; if "Enable Counter" is pressed, the "End of area" variable of the meter is updated in the software, and the WebVisu page start blinking. I tried also to enable the "Support client animations and overlay..." property at VisualizationManager, this seems stop the blinking problem, but that property also destroy my WebPage, moving almost all the graphical object, that also seem not working anymore. I really need help to understand what I'm doing wrong, I have to develop a bigger project and I have to understand if trend objects and animated meters cannot stay in the same page. In the final project the WebVisu will be very important because the customer will use this way to access the application to monitor the process. Regards

Hi all! I'm working on an home project using a Raspberry Pi 3 device with Codesys for Raspberry Pi 64 SL runtime. I would like to create the HMI interface with Siemens WinCC Unified (or Advanced) configuring the Raspberry as OPC UA server. I tryed everything, but I didn't find the way to let the OPC UA connection works using UaExpert. I tryed to use anonymous connection, authenticated connection and the ip address instead of the server name in the path connection. There is no way to connect to the OPC UA server and I was asking myself if this feature is really supported for the runtime version used. Another strange thing I noted, is that is not possible to quickly create an OPC UA certificate in the Security Screen, as show in any tutorials. I have correctly created the Symbol Configuration enabling the OPC UA feature. I attach to this topic some printscreen of the actual configuration (sorry for the italian language interface, but I didn't find the way to switch to english). Hi there I am running Codesys ControlWinV3x64 (Patch 4) on my laptop for demonstration purposes but I am unable to get connection to the EtherCAT master and slave device. This is the process that I have followed: * Installed NPCap. * Added the xml file for the SMC slave device to the Device Repository. * Activated Control Win SysTray x64 and selected Start PLC. * Scanned the network for the local device (my laptop). * Added an EtherCAT master to the project and scanned the EtherCAT master for the Network and then selected the correct network. * Selected "Scan for devices" to identify the connected I/O. * Add the SMC EtherCAT slave manually because I was unable to scan it in. * Selected "Scan for devices". I have followed the steps described above but I can't scan in the EtherCAT slave or connect to it. I thought this situation was unique to the EtherCAT slave but I have also tried the same for an EtherNet/IP slave using the Ethernet Adaptor and EtherNet/IP scanner and I am also unable to scan in the device or activate the EtherNet/IP network. Any assistance will be appreciated.

Hi @eschwellinger, I tried this with Modbus COM slaves. I was able to disable them (slave becomes greyed out in the device tree), but the DED.Reconfigure "eError" output shows "NOT_SUPPORTED". After this, when I tried to re-enable the slave, it did not work (device stayed greyed out in the device tree), and the DED.Reconfigure "eError" output also showed "NOT_SUPPORTED". Is there something to do about this, or the device just doesn't support reconfiguration? P.S: I tried this running locally on my computer (not in simulation mode). So of course I was not physically connected to the devices. I have two similar projects, but one of them doesn't have the Modbus_COM devices. I know I can "Exclude from build" the devices for that project, but I would really prefer not to do this if possible. I would prefer to dynamically toggle a configuration variable that would enable or disable the slaves.

Hi, I have problem with connecting Wago PLC WAGO 750-8212/0025-0002 configured as OPC UA client to Kepware OPC UA Server. I am using Codesys 3.5.19.70. What I did so far. To the Codesys project I added object Data Source Manager and configured connection OPC UA like below: pic 1 Then I can browse the OPC server tags in “Variables” tab after prior trust on the server side of the client certificate created in the “Communication” tab: pic 2 Additionally second certificate has been created in Codesys for runtime process in “Security screen” as well as the server certificate was approved here: pic 3 But when I compiled project, downloaded it to PLC and go to RUN I can’t read selected in “Variables” tab, OPC Server tags. I am getting such error (ID: 7001): pic 4 All two PLC certificates has been trusted in OPC server (Kepware) side: pic 5 and Kepware server configuration look like this: pic 6 I can easily connect using third party OPC UA client UaExpert to Kepware server without problem. Hello all, I am facing issues with using SysCom library. With SysCom23 library things were simple but since we are migrating to 64bit systems, I am writing a Porting program. With SysCom23, opening the comport was as simple as providing the ComPort no. which returns the Handle as a DWORD. dwHandle:=SysComOpen(Port); But the new library is a bit different. It is asking for 2 input parameters to open the Com Port - Port Number and POINTER to RTS_IEC_RESULT IF hCom = 0 THEN hCom := SysComOpen(ComSettings.sPort, ADR(pResult)); How should I use the RTS_IEC_Result? I can find RTS_IEC-REUSLT under SysType2Interfaces of SysCom library. Also, can someone give me a general understanding of this RTS_IEC_REULT and RTS_IEC_HANDLE, etc.?

How are the servo drives controlled? EtherCAT, step/dir pulses, other? Another thought is that - if it's step/dir pulse based control - the pulses from the PLC to the drive are getting missed/lost at high frequencies? If that's the case then there would be multiple troubleshooting steps/corrections that could be investigated. You could try to create a simplified program, with all the same parameters, that only has an MC_SetPosition FB you manually trigger and see if you are still getting the same results? When you manually control the motor directly from the servo drive software at the speeds you are calling for, does it move precisely to the target position?
