We just installed (we have a tested image) and added a license Now the license policy has changed and we have to buy a License Control Basic S or M However it only works with CODESYS Development System Version 3.5.19.10 or higher Does that mean we have to upgrade all our old products? That is not a simple task as a previous post has explained with weird error messages from CODESYS V3.5. Next we have to do rigorous testing of our applications afterwards. It is very expensive

Hallo goodmorning, I am using codesys 3.5 sp19 with Weidmueller PLC. I created a page with several checkbox to manage an array of bool. When I build the project the system doesn't signal any error, when I go in simulation mode everything works until I click on checkbox to toggle the variables. Other visu elements works proprerly (e.g. bottons, lights, ect, ect) but the check boxes cause a crash giving the following error: Error while processing the visualization: Client id not present or no longer valid I serched to figure the problem out and to search a solution on the web but nothing. Hi, I am looking for a good way to update a decice remotely. The devices are distributed worldwide and have normally no connection to the internet. The CODESYS Automation Server can't help here. So I want to update the decices via USB stick. I have written my own code* to update the files that are created with ‘Create boot application’. But sometimes strange things happen: visu elements are present, but are not found the application is no longer registered and therefore no longer starts I have not yet found out why these errors occur. Has anyone had similar problems or found a better way? Is there perhaps a CODESYS library or something else? Many thanks! *the code deletes the directories on the device and copies the new directories from the USB stick while the system is running (goes without saying)

Dear Forum, I'm currently switching to Codesys V3.5 SP19. When I want to do an online change, I get the option to update the boot project, in other (codesys based) packages this is checked on by default. In Codesys V3.5 SP19 (and maybe older versions) this is unchecked by default. We are doing a lot of remote updates with systems that almost never power cycle. In other words when this box is forgotten the system will run fine until a blackout. Is it possible to get it checked on by default? Hi, My problem is with raspberry pi 4 with 2 GB ram,. Install codesys is correct but runtime works only few seconds or I can connect with device few seconds. I can ping raspberry and in system info I can see " !!!! Warning: no runtime license - running in demo mode(~2 hours)" but it is 2 minutes after runtime. When I press Start runtime I have another few seconds when I can connect to raspberry. After this time I couldn't find device. Of course, reapet start runtime works every time on few second. Raspberry is new and works with fresh install raspberry os 32 bit. Where should I start looking for solve of my problem ?

I recognized that I have to start the two services "/etc/init.d/codemeter" and "/etc/init.d/codemeter-webadmin" in the docker container as well. If I do so, then the command "cmu -x" returns root@sensoredge-field-netfield-produktmanagment:/# cmu -x cmu - CodeMeter Universal Support Tool. Version 7.60c of 2023-Aug-09 (Build 5625) for Linux/ARMHF 64-Bit Copyright (C) 2007-2023 by WIBU-SYSTEMS AG. All rights reserved. So this time there is no indication any more that "Codemeter is not running". But still we are getting the error when using the license manager in CODESYS development system.

Hello everyone, I'm encountering an issue in CODESYS regarding writing files to external paths. Despite correctly configuring the placeholder in the CODESYSControl_User.cfg file to allow access to an external folder, CODESYS doesn't seem to write any files, and no errors are reported. The issue on the older versions was absent with no placeholders. I've checked the operating system permissions, and they seem to be in order, but the issue remains. The simplest way to do this would be to add a bus coupler dedicated to the expansion IO. The EtherCAT network does not fault when modules connected to the expander are not present. In the image below, nothing below the red line is present in the network - with the network working correctly. In your "base" project, simply include all of the possible modules, and then plug them in as you add pumps to the system. I would also highly recommend against the use of direct addressing. There are other methods to accomplish this, including using the "Optional" checkbox for modules and explicitly addressing them. Looking to access a variable at runtime that indicates a user is online to the code. essentially want to use this value to feedback to the user on the HMI. we use turck and bosch rexroth devices if this information helps. I was hoping there was a variable at the application level, or a library that could be used but I was unable to find anything. I know there's a pop up when you try to login/ go online to the code when a user is already logged in, so the system does provide an indication that it knows already online, but has no access to a value from what I can see. Any help is appreciated

Does anybody know how to get a specific text from a text list within a program. Obviously it works in a visualization, but because I will have an HMI that has it's own system and I will have to send variables to this HMI via an OPC UA connection, I need to be able to get a text into a string. I tried using the VisuElems like this, but it only returns an empty "" and nothing else. 4.11 appears to solve the problem. Thanks for your help. I had first installed the 64-bit version of RPiOS, but looking at various posts and the product's page on the store which only lists 32-bit compatibility, I downgraded to the 32-bit version. I did this before trying 4.11, and it did not solve the problem. Thus my working system is 32-bit, and I am wondering if I can go back to 64-bit or not. An 64-bit OS is not listed as compatible on the store's web page, but when installing there actually is a 64-bit version listed (automatically chosen when installing on 64-bit, but otherwise greyed out). Is 64-bit supported and the website is out-of-date, or is that some kind of work-in-progress?

Hello, I am seeing some weird runtime behavior related to the EQ function on a rapsberry pi based system. I have attached a screenshot showing the strange latching I am seeing on the EQ function, and I have not seen this behavior before. I tried freshly restarting the runtime and it has this same behavior. Anyone seen this? I am on 3.5.20 with the latest runtime installed. Basically, as soon as it hits one of those EQ's in the program, it latches effectively locking the output on. Any input from the Codesys team would be appreciated as well as anyone that might know what I am seeing.

Hello, CODESYS Control is running on my RevPi, and my system communicates over a CANbus with a master using the ConnectCan module (Slave - CANopen Device). The communication works perfectly fine so far. However, as soon as I call a Python script with "SysProcessExecuteCommand2" that creates a CSV file and executes without errors, the master does not adopt any changes to the Transmission Process Data Objects (TPDOs). I don't quite understand what one has to do with the other, and perhaps someone can help me with this. Here is my script call: SysProcess.SysProcessExecuteCommand2(pszCommand:='python /home/pi/test.py', pszStdOut:=sCMDOutput, udiStdOutLen:= SIZEOF(sCMDOutput), pResult := ADR(eResult)); Thank you in advance! My CODESYS OPC UA server provides endpoints using both the hostname and the IP address. Connecting via the IP address works fine, but connecting via the hostname does not. The endpoint list shows both opc.tcp://<hostname>:4840 and opc.tcp://<ip>:4840. When using the hostname, the OPC UA client (UA Expert) fails to connect. Using the IP address connects without issues. Main goal is to conect via Python but opcua-asyncio seems to prefer the hostname. How can I configure CODESYS or my system so that the OPC UA connection via hostname also works properly or disable it completly? Running Codesys for PFC200 sl 4.18.0.0

The machine I'm currently using (Celeron J1900) already has the Kernel RT patch. I checked the performance according to the documentation. After running CyclicTest for 4 cores, the value for each core is around 6-7. I went through the entire process according to the documentation (I envy the TaskMonitor results in the documentation). The documentation states: "CODESYS Virtual Safe Time Provider The CODESYS Virtual Safe Time Provider is a standard interface that the user can use to transfer a second and external time base to the CODESYS Virtual Safe Control. The implementation is done as a client, which must run on another system with an independent time base." How do I implement this? I've been struggling for two weeks now - I'm too old to give up.

Hi, I found the same issue, and I fixed with this steps: 1st go to codesys .cfg file. sudo nano CODESYSControl.cfg Then insert this: [SysProcess] BasePriority=Realtime Command=AllowAll Now we need to grant codesys root rights on Linux. Step 1: Create or edit the systemd override configuration: sudo systemctl edit codesyscontrol In the editor that opens, insert: [Service] User=root Save and exit: Press Ctrl+O to save Press Ctrl+X to exit Step 2: Reload systemd and reboot To apply the override: sudo systemctl daemon-reexec sudo systemctl daemon-reload sudo reboot Step 3: Confirm CODESYS is running as root After reboot, open the terminal and run: ps aux | grep codesyscontrol You should see something like: root 1234 ... /opt/codesys/bin/codesyscontrol.bin ... If instead it shows admin or another user, the override was not applied correctly. Step 4: (Optional) Confirm from within CODESYS In your CODESYS project, insert this test code to run the Linux command whoami: Make sure the lib SysProcessImplementation, SysTypes, and CmpErrors is on the project. Hi everyone, I'm working on a CODESYS-based project running on a Weintek cMT2078X HMI with a built-in CODESYS runtime. The system communicates with multiple Modbus RTU slave devices, arranged in a cascade. The number of connected units can vary between 2 and 8, depending on the installation. Each slave has 17 Modbus channels, which are polled cyclically every 5 seconds. The issue is that when fewer devices are physically connected (e.g. only 3 out of 8), the Modbus master still attempts to communicate with all configured slaves. This leads to massive delays due to timeouts (currently 200ms per channel). For one disconnected device, that’s: 17 × 200ms = 3.4 seconds of delay per polling cycle, and this quickly multiplies with each additional missing slave. This behavior significantly degrades the system's performance and responsiveness. We attempted a workaround where we tried to trigger polling based on a variable in the PLC program, but this caused instability and even led to hardware hangs/freezes on the cMT2078X – likely due to clashes in how the Modbus polling engine and program logic interact at runtime. My main questions are: Is there a way in CODESYS to dynamically enable/disable Modbus slave devices at runtime, using a BOOL or INT variable (e.g. indicating number of active slaves)? Can devices or channels be conditionally polled or temporarily disabled without removing them from the device tree? Are there any best practices or examples for handling variable numbers of Modbus slaves in scalable systems like this? Would splitting communication across tasks or interfaces help reduce the impact of timeouts? Any advice, documentation references, or architectural suggestions would be extremely helpful. I'm looking for a robust way to dynamically scale slave polling without degrading system stability or performance. Thanks in advance!

I run CODESYS runtime as a service and use CmpLog (the LogAdd2 function) to log different events to a file. I have done this many times before on various projects and hardware, and it works fine. On this particular system, I have CODESYS 3.5.20.40 running on a Windows 11 PC. The CODESYSControlService autostarts (with Local System credentials, the default), and the application runs fine. However, the configuration file is not read (or at least not the one that should be, or not the CmpLog section), and log files are not written to the disk. I would be thankful if anyone knew why this is happening and how to fix it. A note to CODESYS people: you must provide more information on the codesys configuration file, CODESYSControlService.exe and other major components and system behaviour. You created the service and various features (i.e. logging), but haven't explained how they work, which, in my opinion, is below standard for industrial automation software. These are my observations: - When running as a service, the config file is not read (none of them), or at least the CmpLog section is not read. I checked the log using Codesys IDE, and the CmpLog parameters are not the ones I have set in any of the config files. Which CmpLog config values does the service use, and where does it read them from? I have no idea, but it's not the config files. Here are the codesys config files I located on the PC's disk: o C:\Program Files (x86)\CODESYS 3.5.20.40\GatewayPLC\CODESYSControl.cfg (only 2 lines in this config) o C:\Program Files (x86)\CODESYS 3.5.20.40\GatewayPLC\AppDataFiles\CODESYSControlWinV3\CODESYSControl.cfg o C:\Users\SRV\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3\C4DBB537\CODESYSControl.cfg o C:\Program Files (x86)\CODESYS 3.5.20.40\GatewayPLC\tempCFG\CODESYSControl.cfg - When I run codesys as an app (e.g. by clicking the icon), this config file is read C:\Users\SRV\AppData\Roaming\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3\C4DBB537\CODESYSControl.cfg and log files are written ok. The icon target is "C:\Program Files (x86)\CODESYS 3.5.20.40\GatewayPLC\CODESYSControlService.exe" -d o the -d option, I think, starts a cmd-like window showing service debug output (the output shown in log in the IDE) o the -i option, again I think, means install the service - I tried adding -d to service start parameters in the registry, but it started only once and after that it refused to start. Hi, I am writing to you today because I would like to create a library that would contain a program with its various subprograms, in my example "PLC_PRG" with "a", "aa", "aaa". But once the library is created as shown below: I would like to be able to drag and drop my folder as many times as I want (let's say I manage the same system multiple times). Once the drag and drop is done, we can see the second folder with the variables renamed successfully. As shown below: But my variables in CAD_1 remain the same as for CAD, so it's PLC_PRG instead of PLC_PRG_1, for example. Is there a solution to automate this? I wouldn't want to have to rename all my variables manually, considering that in the program where I want to do this, the number of variables is substantial. Lucas.
