I have a Topcon Opus B3 ECO Full display and i wanna program it with codesys, but i cant connect it to the display. After creating a new project, i choose the device "Opus B3-B4-B6-3.5.19.50" that is already available in my version of codesys, but i think the problem is that my version of codesys or something else is not the same as the codesys runtime version running on my display. Can anyone tell me how i can see the codesys runtime version on my display? i tried looking in the settings (Daemon > CDS) on the display, but all i see is "N/A" for "Customer Number", "Customer Part Number" and "Customer Serial Number". Can anyone help me make this connection?

When I created a new project in CODESYS using the "Standard Project" template and then added a Visualization, I was receiving the C0138 error during compilation. This issue persisted even with a new, completely empty project. A Quick and Effective Solution (My Method): After many attempts, I solved the problem as follows: From the File -> New Project menu, I selected the "HMI Project" template directly, instead of the "Standard Project" template. After creating the project with this template, I added my POUs, Tasks, and programs (e.g., Ladder, ST). Using this method, the project compiled successfully without any errors. So, my question is: are there any other solutions besides this method?

Hello, I am currently having issues on CODESYS Control for linux SL with DTH expiring. I have followed several tutorials of creating a proper RT linux. Hi everyone, so a little update to this, I've come back to this project in the new year, and got it working. Yeah!, However, now with the new licensing setup, I need a new SoftMotion license, but it doesn't seem to be compatible with the previous Raspberry Pi SL license. Has anyone had any luck with Raspberry Pi and SoftMotion_Lite? Specifically the licensing of such? My customers new installation needs to be rebooted every 30min which is causing headaches! Another option is to not use the SoftMotion function blocks, and control the EtherCat amplifier directly, but I'm not sure how to do so. Does anyone have a specific example project of how to control a servo without the use of the SoftMotion function blocks? Thanks everyone for any assistance rendered. It's very much appreciated! Toby

Hello, I'm working on a project which includes Panel-PC which communicates with a PLC through Modbus TCP/IP. On the PLC I have a CODESYS code which has Modbus slave objects. The Modbus slave objects have to have manually set IP address in order for them to work properly and the Ip address has to be the PC-Panels's IP. This project is going to a customer and they're using their own IP address realm. So, my question is that is it possible to configure these slaves in some other way, so that the customer doesn't need to modify the CODESYS project? I was thinking that would it be possible to set the IP address of these slaves from external source?

I am relatively new to Codesys and I'm trying to develop an HMI that displays what mode a particular device is in based on an integer value. I am currently using dynamic texts with a text list which works fine but I am looking for a way to display a particular string (ie 'Unknown') when the index doesn't match any of of the indices in the text list. I can enter 'Unknown' in the text property of the text field element which works as expected but it displays the single quotes on the visualization. How can I escape these quotes to simply display the word Unknown? Thanks!

4.11 appears to solve the problem. Thanks for your help. I had first installed the 64-bit version of RPiOS, but looking at various posts and the product's page on the store which only lists 32-bit compatibility, I downgraded to the 32-bit version. I did this before trying 4.11, and it did not solve the problem. Thus my working system is 32-bit, and I am wondering if I can go back to 64-bit or not. An 64-bit OS is not listed as compatible on the store's web page, but when installing there actually is a 64-bit version listed (automatically chosen when installing on 64-bit, but otherwise greyed out). Is 64-bit supported and the website is out-of-date, or is that some kind of work-in-progress?

Hi, I'm struggling with updating my xc303 to firmware 3.5.17. It is possible only via USB port. I've installed proper update files on the USB then plug it into the PLC's USB port and restarted the device. Shortly after LED's on the PLC started to blink, so updating process has started. But after 10 minutes the PLC LED turned off and after all I could't serach for this PLC in Codesys, but could ping it. Could someone eplain to me proper procedure of updating the fimrware in XC303 via USB? Is it neccesary to STOP the PLC switch after pluging the USB?

Two issues. Ive been struggling to get the user management the way I want it. I want to protect the device from unauthorized upload/download, but I do not want login requirement on webvisu. The combination that seems to work is to use "runtime device user management" while keeping the visu user management in "legacy mode"? Initially this seemed to work, but now images are not loaded when using direct access, while they are still shown if I access the webpage via Automation server. Im guessing its connected to the authorization changes? Anyone able to help out? Thanks Also, I read that legacy mode should be avoided, is it possible to use "runtime based visu user management" while keeping direct access to the webpage without login. We have checked open ports. SSH (22) and HTTP (80) are not reachable. The only open ports are: 502 (Modbus TCP — used for lighting control) 1200 (CODESYS runtime) 1201 (CODESYS runtime) We can connect via Automation Builder using the current IP, but we don't have the original project source — only an empty project. This is why we are afraid of doing a full download, as it would overwrite the running application. Is there any way to change the IP through the CODESYS runtime protocol on ports 1200/1201 without affecting the running program?"

This explanation aligns with the issues we’re experiencing with our machines. The scenario I described is happening with one of them (let’s call it Machine A). This machine is identical to another one (Machine B), except for some custom code that facilitates communication with an external Beckhoff PLC for MES integration in the production line. Machine B has been powered on and off daily for at least three months and has never had this problem. Given that, I highly doubt the MES custom code is the cause of the code corruption. This being said, your explanation does seem plausible. However, if faulty EtherCAT cables were the issue, why wouldn't the error occur during normal operation? Why would bad cables only cause problems during a hard shutdown? One last question: When you encountered this behavior, did you see a similar error in your logs? i.e, an "AccessViolation" exception in the EtherCAT Task?

Hello. I am currently working on a WAGO PLC, where I am trying to wrap my head around how the analog inputs and outputs work in codesys. I have looked far and wide on the internet, for a general introduction to the whole concept, but I have not had any luck with finding anything that helped me understand it better. The whole goal is for me to be able to read an analog input from a temperature sensor, as well as using an analog output, to control a frequency inverter. I know these have nothing to do with each other, but that is all I have on hand right now. I am trying to program this using Ladder Diagram. The only thing is, that every video/guide I have seen/read using LD, just adds a whole lot of function blocks, to do all kinds of stuff they don't explain. My general question is, how would one go ahead and read the analog input, as well as transmit an analog output? Is there some kind of specific function block I would have to use for this, or some great video I can watch, to understand the inner workings. Is it somehow possible to see the values the PLC recieved/sends? Regards.

Hi, I'm trying to monitor a specific PGN which I have it sending a pulse every 500mS Problem: Using the Watchdog for the ECU does not really help me as I have multiple instances with separate PGNs, if a PGN goes ghost, the ECU watchdog won't be flagged as the others will be running. Hi CoDeSys support forum, hope that this is the correct place to ask this. Might be double as i am new to Codesys and dont know all terminology. I am trying to test Codesys with a virtual plc on a raspberry pi 5. Already figured that i need Tools -> Deploy Control SL, enter Communication parameters. Codesys says "Connected". Then tab "Deployment", there i select "CODESYS Control for Raspberri Pi SL" and "4.16.0.0 (all)". Click "Install" and the gui turns grey and unresponsive. The titlebar says "Untitled1.project - CODESYS (Not Responding)" as well. Restarting Codesys and checking shows no package was installed. How to deploy the runtime? Thank you in advance for your time. Edit: After some patience, an error showed up: "Error when sending ssh heartbeat: Session operation has timed out" "Error installing codesyscontrol" Any pointers to what remote command might have failed, or log of some sort, would be welcome. Okay, the solution was so simple... In my case, you first have to add the EL1918 and then the EL2904... then the connection is made automatically. I probably had something else before and then added the EL1918... then it doesn't catch the connection :/

Is it really the same CODESYS version with the same add-ons? Maybe open the CODESYS installer on your home laptop, and export the configuration. On your work PC open the CODESYS installer and import the configuration.

the procedure is usually 1. install the Licenserver (on the host) with the deploy tool in CODESYS) 2. if you go to the CODESYS WBM you should see an empty Softcontainer 130-xxxxxx 3. activate the license with SoftContainer number and ticketnumber that was it!

Why do you develop things like this? The workflow should be highly dependent on autocomplete, then if that's not super obvious browse to definition and everything is made clear possibly with the checking of a few types. The nature of how things are done makes me think these libraries aren't developed for general use and are actually internal or for partners. The example projects include objects that don't appear in autocomplete and then lead nowhere obvious when browsing. Do you consider developer workflow when creating these libraries? Are some libraries really for public use such as Visu Utils and others not? If so which? It's really hard to tell.

Dear @gseidel, Thank you for your reply. The exact version of Codesys and its compiler was 3.5.21.20. The compiler version was fixed and could not be changed in project settings. Since I couldn't continue due to this compilation error, I temporarily overcame this issue as follows. -- I completely uninstalled Codesys 3.5.21.20 and completely deleted the Codesys folder in the C:\ProgramData folder. -- I restarted my computer and installed Codesys 3.5.19.70. -- I updated the Codesys Installer and all its add-ons to the latest versions. -- The project that was giving me the compilation error I mentioned before is now open with Codesys 3.5.19.70, compiled it, and successfully downloaded it on the device. -- I haven't encountered the same problem anymore. I think this issue is related to SP21 and its compiler. Frankly, I'd expect a project created with an older version to compile without errors after opening it with the latest Codesys version and updating all libraries. Regards, imdatatas

Hi, I'm trying to launch a continuously running python script from Codesys and monitor the script status inside the Codesys runtime (running on a Linux enviroment). For now I'm testing with the below to emulate a continuously running Python script: #test.py i = 0 while True: i += 1 I'm able to successfully run the script using SysProcessExecuteCommand2 (I can see the Python process running in the task manager). However, this "freezes" the Codesys execution of the task - it sits on that command and will not continue until the Python script ends. I've proven this works by using the task monitor to kill the process, then Codesys continues on happily through the task. What I want to do is use SysProcessCreate2 to set up the Python script as a background task and monitor the process using SysProcessGetState. This always results in the error "ERR_OPERATION_DENIED". I know that I'm able to execute commands (as above), so my config should be correct. Is SysProcessCreate2 functional on a Linux environment? Is there something in the config file I'm missing? Hi, I have a project currently in development, it has a number of Ethernet/IP devices (18 adapter devices with Codesys as scanner, another scanner device with codesys as adapter). This has been stable whilst on factory floor for several months (though prior to that I did have some Ethernet/IP issues which were resolved by adjusting RPI rates). Today I tried updating to Ethernet /IP 4.6.0 from 4.5.1, subsequent to this I had 2 exceptions in a 2 hour period, I reverted to 4.5.1 and have had no further exceptions. Note I do have a device (Zebra printer) that frequently times out and reconnects, this does not seem to cause any issues in operation and does not cause any exceptions with 4.5.1. I believe the root cause of this is on the Zebra side, however there does not seem to be any adjustment I can make to prevent the time outs. Information from device log is in screenshot attached.
