I am trying to do "update device" in a project which was saved in a different version of CODESYS using ScriptEngine, a dialog with 'Yes' and 'No' button popped up showing that "Do you want to upgrade the storage format for this project? -if you click 'Yes', storage format will be upgraded... -if you click 'No', storage format will not be changed..." I have to click the 'Yes' button automatically by scriptEngine. I know from others topics here in forum, that some dialogs can be auto-answered using system.prompt_answers. And I also get the messagekey of this dialog: Key: "<< No Key>>" Message: "Do you want to upgrade the storage format for this project? - If you click 'Yes',... i have tried using the system.prompt_answers command below, but the dialog was not auto-answered. system.prompt_answers["<<No Key>>"] = PromptResult.Yes Does someone know how to auto-answer the dialog using system.prompt_answers command with messagekey"<< No key>>"? or any suggestions to solve this issue, Thanks!

I have found a very interesting solution using: IoConfigTaskMap IoConfigConnectorMap IoConfigChannelMap The first is the list of IO tasks. The second is the connector for each IO module in the IOMap. The third is the individual input or output on the IOMap. One of the properties of the connector is another pointer to a connector, which corresponds with the connector of the EtherCAT slave. Through this information, it is possible to understand to which EtherCAT slave an IO connectormap corresponds. I am attaching an FB that allows for the construction of an IO map and finding the pointer to the actual IOs in the IOMap based on the bitoffset. Hey there, I am currently trying to find a good solution for the communication between CODESYS Control on Raspberry Pi and "the rest of the world", i. e. the things apart from CODESYS on my linux. My first approach was to use the c-integration. So I created a lib, defined extern fbs, compiled the code on my Pi using the SDK and put the .so into my lib project. When I try to log into the Pi and load the program, I get the error message which you can see in the attached picture. "Die dynamischen Module der C-Integration konnten nicht auf das Laufzeitsystem geladen werden" is german and means roughly "the modules from the c-integration could not be loaded onto the runtime system." Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I will have a look at the unix domain socket thing next, as I am still in the process of finding the best solution for the communication.

I am trying to implement a mechanism to send alarm SMS. For this, I have created an Alarm Class with a Notification Action which calls a POU. This POU implements IAlarmNotifiable making it selectable in the Alarm Class configuration. IAlarmNotifiable has an Execute method which is called by the alarm class. Now, I want to extract the alarm message of the triggered alarm. The Execute method comes with a VAR_INPUT itfAlarm: AlarmManager.IAlarm which supplies a method called GetMessage. The help text says: Returns the message text, that has been configured for the alarm. The result is a pointer to the buffer, where the message text is stored The type of the result is CharBufferPtr, and at some place I read that it can be interpreted as a pointer to string. But I cannot manage to extract the alarm message, all I get are numbers. I have tried the following: psAlarmText := itfAlarm.GetMessage(__SYSTEM.TYPE_CLASS.TYPE_STRING)^; sAlarmText := TO_STRING( itfAlarm.GetMessage(__SYSTEM.TYPE_CLASS.TYPE_STRING)^ ); So how do I get access to the alarm message as clear text? Hello all I am using an AxisGroup with the Gantry2 Kinematics to move a 2D-Gantry system. When creating the AxisGroup, the SoftMotion_PlanningTask is created automatically with a cycle time of 2 ms in my case. I realized that the maximum cycle time of this task can spike to very high values (up to 60 ms) at lower speeds of the motion, leading to synchronization issues and errors on the axes. The same behaviour - though not as drastic - can be observed with virtual axes too. Is this behaviour intended or to be expected? Can the cycle time or type of the SoftMotion_PlanningTask be changed to prevent these errors? Or is there another fix for this issue? I tried changing the cycle type to Freewheeling, which solved the synchronization issues, but caused an error on the AxisGroup after a while, reading SMC_CP_QUEUE_UNDERRUN. I have a project with a Festo CPX-E-CEC-C1-PN PLC (Run-time version 3.5.12.50) that I have been developing on just fine using Codesys V3.5 SP19 Patch 5 (64bit). I am at the stage where I wanted to use the Festo HMI screen, and have added a RemoteTargetVisu object to my application. After adding this object, I am no longer able to log in to the PLC as I get an Unresolved Reference warning for 'USERMGRUSERGETPROPERTY' towards the end of the download process. I was able to find this post (https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Visualization/thread/fc686a6cb2/) where the two possible solutions are to "set the placeholder to emtpy" or update the runtime. Problem is, I don't know how to do either of these things, as I'm still very green in Codesys land. I'd be happy to update the Festo PLC runtime, as that seems like the better option, but have not had any luck in finding a tutorial for this online. If anyone could point me in the right direction I'd appreciate it.

Hi there. I have an issue to read and set time for the controller. In the issue many registers described as writable by 6/16 functions, and, in this time, also(!) readable! For example: I have time registers: min, hour, day, mon, year. By specifications it is possible check time (so I need always update these varibles in loop) and set time by writing these same registers, BUT how to set, if they will immediatle updated by current time after writing? So, I need to separate one address at two variables. I have seen option mark: Overlay of the process image by the holding and input register. I understand this so: When I READ by function 3, I will get variable that connected with the same INPUT address and when I WRITE by 6/16 this will change second variable that connected with HOLDING address. BUT, this mark doesnt work, when I write 6/16 and try to get by function 3, I will get written value instead INPUT variable. So, what to do?

Hi everyone, I'm currently working on a project involving the control of 5 VFDs via Modbus RTU, this time using the WAGO 750-8212 CPU. So far, I've managed to make progress, but I've encountered an issue. While I can successfully read and write to all the registers I need, I consistently encounter a "Response CRC Fail" error when attempting to write the value 1151 to the STW register at address 40100. I'm able to set the frequency via register 40101 and adjust all other parameters using different registers. Setting STW to 1150 results in the drive ready boolean from the ZSW-bit being received instantly. However, the moment I attempt to send 1151 to register 40100, I immediately receive the "Response CRC Fail" error for all channels. I've also attempted to use combined control, employing Modbus for frequency control and starting from a digital input. Everything seems to function properly until I send the start command to the VFD. Interestingly, I consistently encounter the same error the moment I send the start command, regardless of whether I use register 40006 (high) or 40100 (1151). Could someone please assist me in resolving this issue?

Yes, I tried to do what you put in the first code. However, I have a problem with that and that is that the inputs must be declared with the type. I have many data types running in my code (real, int, uint, bool) and I can't put them in the same function, another thing is that I need to instantiate that function for everything I want to write to the slave. You put a for to 200 but it means that it has to be the same data type and inside the array, but I want to get them individually. I'm struggling to do it in a good and efficient way like wago's E-cockpit does. in the first screenshot you can see, you simply type in value, change the package of things you want to write in value change and it does everything by itself automatically, without comparing any old and new values and even less having the need to activate a bool. , it is perfect.

Hi everyone; I'm building a project in which the drag of the mouse over some controls (or the click event) changes the background color of the control items; this change of color is made with an FB that assignes a color code to the background with MUX command based on the value of an enumerator, this part is perfectly working but, when I'm using a touchpanel instead of a web visu (controlled by a mouse) I get into some issues as it seems that the touch operations are not triggering the MouseEnter and MouseLeave properties as it's done with the mouse.... For this reason I'm trying to add a TON to my FB and, if the enum that changes color remains at the same state for more then 3s I'm automatically resetting it to it's "0" so the item gets back the not selected color. Anyhow it looks like the TON function from library is not working in these FB that are instanced in the various visualizations, as instead they do if I create some instances within the POUS. Anyone has ideas of how to make them work?

With IFM sensors, I used their pre-built function blocks, but with this third-party device, i need to write my own function block. Thankfully, IFM provides a generic sensor-fb so I can write my own FB with "extends" and "super". So far, so good. I found the IODD and some other documentation and I thought I get how it works, but somehow can't really get it to work at all. From my understanding, i need to write data into the PDO-Array. But i get confused with the indices and subindices of IO-Link. I'll append the IODD and some screenshots of my project. There is an AOI for LogicXDesigner, but I can't use that in Codesys. Hi, I am trying to create a project using a raspberry pi, I have added the modules for the Pi and MCP3008. I have encountered som errors that I don't know how to track down. 1. The GPIOs give preprocessor errors, but I read that this does not prevent compiling. This seems to be true. I can build the empty project with no errors. 2. After adding a SPI master and MCP3008, the preprocessor errors double, but seem similar and the project again builds with no errors. 3. I have the Opening and Closing working, but I can’t get the dialogue's position to be controlled. I have a Python program that will handle things in my application such as VISA over IP and Telnet control of instruments. I want the main control and HMI in Codesys. My problem is communication between the two. I have looked at several ways to accomplish this, and settled on having the Python program create two named pipes, one to send information to Codesys, and one for Codesys to send information to Python. The information would be packetized with \n for end of packet.. Seems simple. I think the named pipes method should work, but file reading in Codesys using the CAA file library starts to get difficult when the file is never ending, as in this case. Before I spend too much time making something that may be fundamentally flawed I want to ask. Is there a better way? Is there a way to read the file 'one line at a time' which might solve my never ending file problem? Thanks!

Hi Dave. Thanks for your answer. I still struggling with this. I have done everything according with the Codesys help even I have looked in detail at the example. I have double checked the recipe manager configuration and the use of all the methods. There are two methods that do not work as expected. I'm using Codesys 3.5.19.20 and recipe management 4.4.0.0 .CreateRecipe just create a recipe in the recipe definition but do not create the file. This have a walk around just giving a .ReadAndSaveRecipe afterwards. .ReloadRecipes do nothing but do not generate any error as well. After calling it I call the .GetRecipeCount and the number is always 0. When I create a new recipe (using the function block methods) then the number changes. Looks like this method is looking to the wrong directory finding nothing. I don't know if there is a missing configuration in the CODESYSControl.cfg file. I'm thinking in a walk around for this but I need to create a strings array with the recipe names as retentive and making all the management when deleting and adding recipes. Have had some one the same problem?

Hello, what you are seeing is not strange behavior. The problem is that everyting is happening in the same program cycle. After the variable Stepnumber is changed from 10 to 20 for example then you want the program to wait with the next EQ until the next program cycle. Else every EQ will be be true because in every line the variable Stepnumber is increased. When the program arrives (still in the same cycle) at the line with the timer, the Stepnumber has been increased to 30 in the meantime and the timer will allway be ON because even though the variable is written to 10 in this line in the next cycle it starts with 10 and will be 30 again before reaching the timer in line 8. Not very good at explaining stuff but i hope you get the problem. See screenshot below for an example of one way you could solve this...

Hello! Raspberry pi 2b just is getting a bit slow so decided to go for a Raspberry 5. Project is now upgraded to suit Pi 64 SL... so, now although everything runs perfectly... for some reason my trends will not save! its driving me nuts... ^Tried merging tasks with main program & trends ^tried re-prioritizing tasks (shifting 1 - 31 etc) ^Recreated the Trend Recording manager from scratch ^Tried swapping persisitant vars to GVL Retains then non-retains... (Project attached is as per before trial&error) Raspberry Pi 2b still runs "perfectly" though its very chuggy (Still saves the trends, note this is of an pretty much identical project minus the device compatibility) Does anyone have any advice to offer? project attached.... I feel it could be outside of Codesys itself causing the issues, but cant see/find anything on the internet to assist (or anyone else with the same problem as me...) Can attach project in another format (non archive) any assistance is much appreciated!

Hi everyone, I’m developing a custom CODESYS I/O driver for my company’s device, and I’ve been studying the example projects in CODESYS V3.5 SP20 Patch 5. In the IOMappingExample.project, I noticed that EtherCAT devices provide additional configuration tabs in the Device Editor, such as General, Process Data, etc. However, for custom I/O driver examples (based on IoDrv), the Device Editor only shows the default tabs like <devicename> I/O Mapping or <devicename> Parameters.</devicename></devicename> I’d like to create custom tabs or configuration pages in the Device Editor (e.g., “General Settings”, “Communication”, etc.) to allow users to configure parameters in a more structured way. Could anyone explain: How to define and register custom tabs or UI pages in the Device Editor? What tools or SDKs are needed to create UI elements such as combo boxes or check boxes? How to bind those UI controls to device parameters defined in the XML (device description)? Any example, SDK reference, or documentation link would be really helpful. Thanks in advance!

Hi all, I am using CoDeSys V3.5 and a soft controller Win V3x64. I am trying to read a modbus slave via Function Blocks and not via the channels of the hardware tree for the Slave. I created some requests of type ModbusRequest and I notice that I can read Input Registers and Coils but I can not write Holding Registers and Coils. I am using the library IoDrvModbusTCP 4.1.0.0. When i just use a single modbus request with FC06 (or FC16), there is no request sent to the slave and although the xExecute takes its true value from a pulse of 2 seconds duration, I take almost every 3 minutes an error "TCP_COMMUNICATION_ERROR - 16#A5 - TCP Port. error. Request was not sent". My code is ok because if i change the function code for reading registers, everything works fine. Did anyone have this issue in the past? Thank you in advance.

Strangely reminds me to my struggles... Want to do something "Elegant", reusable, universal, practical... In CODESYS??? 🙃 First of all, before you get too deep into this: If you could find a way, to make a "universal" log entry object, containing the variable length data itself, you wouldn't be able to store them in an array, or access them like an array, or pass them by value as a type. (please correct me, if I'm wrong, incorrect, or not precise). Because... Basically you can't declare a type with variable memory footprint. This is a very deeply embedded characteristic of CODESYS, and all IEC 61131-3 systems, and it has many reasons behind. And yes, it is a very common trap / mistake, to forget about. So, with a log entry - I guess - it's pretty much the purpose: store data and metadata together, and then handle it in a uniform way. There are ways to handle this, really depends on what is the purpose. For example: 1. Entries with fixed length (Maybe it is not as evil as it looks for the first time. Depends on the situation, but definitely the fastest and easiest code) You can have your base object, with an internal, fixed length string or byte array variable. I would go with a string, and call it _Data.; And then you can make properties, like As_Bool, As_Int, As_Real... In the 'set' accessors, you can do like: pReal := ADR(_Data); // POINTER TO REAL As_Real := pReal^; In the 'get' accessors, evidently: pReal := ADR(_Data); // POINTER TO REAL pReal^ := AS_Real; Or, can use ANY type, if you are not obsessed with variable / property like access: 2. Fixed length, but nicer First, some disadvantage to any values: - You can only assign values with write access. If you really want to do entries with variable size In a standard environment, it would be similar to the previous, except you dont have the container variable _Data, just use a pointer, practically _Descr.pValue At Initialize (SET_Value), you have to allocate the memory, would be easy with SysMem.SysMemAlloc - nowadays with SysMem.SysMemAllocData -, and you make sure to release it after use with SysMem.SysMemFreeData... SysMemAlloc was already hidden. The problem with this, that sooner or later your application will totally fragment the dynamic memory, and fail... So should look for some form of dynMaybe MemUtils.MemoryManager (I am not sure what is the status and the future of it). 4. You will end up by a LogEntry Factory ... 5. You could still have a look at this IEC Snippets BTW, Standard Codesys Logger is not a bad choice either. If you are really interested, I share some more code / library.

Hi Folks, Every time I use an IFM controller I always seem to run into a problem connecting to it. I get the Communications Error (#0). So I thought I would share some tips and tricks. Once the CANfox Cable (EC2112) cable driver is installed, you can use the yellow app in the sys tray to blink the lights on the cable. Confirm the cable works in the IFM maintenance software by connecting to the controller and reading the information on it. Make sure to download an OS into the controller (the light will go from a fast blink to solid green). In Codesys V2.3, the communication settings for the CR0401 is 250kBaud by default and Node ID 127. What got me, was I needed to reboot the computer after the cable driver install. Also if your application has canbus settings in it which are changed from default, after the controller is power cycled, the new Node ID and Baud will be in effect. I made a handy guide because too much time has been wasted on this. Programming IFM CR0401 Serial/Can Programming Cable ‱ Connect IFM EC2112 CanFox programming cable with connector adapter. ‱ Make sure cable is linked to VM (if using VM). ‱ Install drivers for cable if not installed. o Download from IFM EC2112 site. https://www.ifm.com/ca/en/product/EC2112 ‱ Once Installed, reboot computer. ‱ In system tray, there should be a yellow icon that you can open and check on programming cable. Select the cable in the list and flash the lights to confirm it is working. Maintenance Software ‱ Install IFM Maintenance Tool Software. o Download from IFM Site. https://www.ifm.com/ca/en/download/eco100_MaintenanceTool ‱ Open IFM Maintenance software ‱ Select Basic System ‱ Select CAN cable ‱ It will tell you if you don’t have a cable connected. ‱ Use Wizard if needed. ‱ Read Channel Parameter on the Settings page, or get Identity in the System Information > Identity. ‱ Default Node is 127 on a new unit. Baud is 250kBaud (bits/sec) ‱ Controller information should populate. ‱ Controller green light should be blinking at 5hz (meaning OK but no OS, just bootloader). ‱ Click Software > Load. ‱ Open the OS file. Should match Codesys version selection (for CR0401 this is version 3). o Download OS file from IFM Website. https://www.ifm.com/ca/en/product/CR0401 o It is located at the top of the download under “software for CR0401”. o Select the file and load it
 this will take a minute. ‱ Once completed the unit should now have a solid green light o Solid green means the controller has an OS but no application is running. Codesys V2.3 Application ‱ Codesys needs to be downloaded and installed from the IFM website as it has the IFM libraries and license to use the software. o Download from the IFM CR0401 page. o https://www.ifm.com/ca/en/product/CR0401 ‱ Create new application with the correct IFM controller or Open Codesys application. ‱ Keep in mind that the PLC Configuration on the Resources tab can be changed for the CAN communication interface
 so changes to node and baud will take effect after the first download and reboot of the controller. ‱ Go to “Online” in the top menu and change “Communication Parameters” o The Local dropdown shows the last configuration used. All other interfaces will show below it and need to be updated when changed or used. o Confirm Node ID is 127 for the first download.  The NodeID will change to whatever the program has after (in my case 125).  Node Send Offset should be default at 1536  Node Recv Offset should be default at 1408  Can bus Baudrate should be 250 kbaud.  Yes to Motorola Byte Order  Block Transfer should be false and note used (60 is default setting).  Can Card Driver should match the systray item which is Sie_USB. ‱ If the system populated the other one, just update and relay the communication parameters. The software will usually bring up the available cable and driver. ‱ Go to “Online” and Login to download. o Press Yes to Download Application. I hope this helps!

Dear folks, I think I have a rather simple question but I could not find the right answer to my question: I have made with Excel a CSV file where I would like to have some general data regarding my program variables. I have made an program what let me read the file. The string I am currently get is at follows: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$R$NPort_number;2000$R$NCycle_time;43$R$NStart_Standard_IO;20$R$N' Now I want to split the string in multiple part, which I later would connect to the right variable. I understand that the Find() function returns the first value the $R$N in the Received_string_without_BOM. I expected that the outcome the following was: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$'. However the outcome is: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$R'. I do not understand where the R after the $ sign comes from, because its place is 24 so it would not be added to the part_of the_string[index]. If I hard coded value 24 for the size it gives me the following return: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$R$N'. I would expect everything till the R but the code adds the $N also to the string.
