Hello everyone! I'm facing a weird issue with CODESYS Control Win V3 x64 on a fresh Windows install. The situation is as follows: CODESYS Modbus TCP Server (Slave) is running and I can see live values in the mapping display of Modbus settings: GVL (e.g., 32, 42, 50). Port 502 is LISTENING according to netstat. When connecting via Modbus Poll or Node-RED, the connection status changes to ESTABLISHED and everything reports as fine. The Problem: Despite the successful connection, all holding registers return 0 no matter what. It's like the OS accepts the TCP handshake, the request counter goes up but the data payload never reaches Modbus Client (in this case Node-RED or Modbus Poll). Quick Stats: Firewall: Completely OFF. Unit ID: Verified & Matching. IP: Tried 127.0.0.1 and 192.168.0.1. Interface: Correctly bound in Ethernet Device settings. I already tried absolutely everything from changing IP address, subnet, port, deleting the project and starting new one and even nuking my old Windows install. Since I am near completion of my bachelor thesis only thing left for me to do is connect SoftPLC to NodeRED via Modbus but this issue is driving me crazy for weeks. I do not know what to do anymore.

Hello everyone, I am currently using OPC UA in CODESYS with the security mode BASIC256SHA256 – Signed and Encrypted. The OPC UA Server is running on an RTE CX device, and the HMI is running on another computer. I have reviewed many CODESYS documents and successfully established communication when the security mode is set to None with Anonymous login. However, when security is enabled, the server does not provide its certificate for the CODESYS HMI client to trust. Interestingly, the client can send its certificate to the server, and UAExpert works normally, but the CODESYS HMI client does not receive the server certificate. Can anyone help clarify what I might be missing? I have been stuck on this issue for three days. If I missed or misconfigured any step, please let me know. Hi — good description of the problem. A few suggestions / questions that might help narrow this down: Since your first serial port (COM2) works fine but the second (COM4 + MODBUS_EXT_MASTER) never opens, check whether the two ports are truly independent — some WAGO modules share internal resources, so COM4 might conflict with other functions or modules. Make sure that the physical wiring and module configuration for the second port (baud rate, flow control, RS-485 vs RS-422, etc.) exactly match what the library expects — a mismatch in flow control or wiring could prevent port opening even if the LED signals seem OK. Try using a plain SERIAL_INTERFACE on COM4 first (like you did for COM2) without Modbus logic — if that opens, you know the hardware + port config is fine, so the issue is more likely with modb_L05.lib. If the port opens but Modbus still fails, enable debug/logging (if available) to inspect whether the port opening fails or the subsequent Modbus negotiation fails. If you like — I can share a minimal example project I used with WAGO + COM4 + Modbus that worked; you could adapt that to test your setup. Wacky Flip

Hi Georg, thanks for your time. What is the value of D_ANGLE_TOL? It is set to 0.01. Do you need the assignment bAbort := NOT bDecoder? Does it help to leave it out? This seems to make no difference. Any errors (e.g. SMC_SmoothPath.Error/ErrorID) or PLC log messages? No errors or log messages. What if you comment out SMC_SmoothMerge and SMC_LimtiDynamics, is corner smoothing still not working? Indeed. Is bDecode written from a different task (e.g. visu)? Then I would recommend to assign to a local variable (bDecodeLocal := bDecode) and use that for all FBs. Otherwise, FBs might see different values of bDecode in a single cycle, which will cause problems. It is a local variable, written from a state machine inside this program. But there is new information: During some trial and error, I tried skipping "stage 2: merge short linear segments" (SMC_SmoothMerge). And suddenly it rounds the corners, see attached image. Looking a bit closer, I noticed that (with the original program) after a download (cold start?), it in fact did round the corners, but only once. Ever next cycle in which the NC program was executed, the corners where not rounded. Not sure if there is any relation, but SMC_SmoothMerge is also the only FB which has no bAbort input. Perhaps I need to reset it (or any buffers) by other means?

Expected behavior Our expectation is: ・When the Active PLC fails, the Standby PLC becomes Active ・The Standby PLC then takes over the role of EtherCAT Master ・EtherCAT communication is re-established ・I/O control continues after reinitialization (a short interruption is acceptable; no strict bumpless requirement) We do not expect completely seamless / zero-cycle switchover, but we want to understand: ・Whether this combination is supported by design ・Or whether there are known limitations or restrictions when EtherCAT ring mode is used together with Master redundancy Clarification At this stage, the question is mainly about feasibility and support, not about a specific error message yet. We make heavy use of internally developed libraries, which are often nested on multiple levels. I routinely work simultaneously on several libraries along with a project that use them. I make changes to a library and immediately perform a download (online or otherwise) in the project. For the longest time, we had zero issue with this. But starting a good while back, with 3.5 SP19 I think, CODESYS started not noticing library updates in other instances most of the time. When the update is missed, the project sees no need to update the code, and any download ignores the new code. A "Clean all" does not solve the issue. But if I close and then re-open the project, then the new version is noticed and the download works. The other solution is saving the library to the registry multiple times (say, 20-30 times, less if lucky), and then at some point the project notices the changed library. I am now on SP21, and it is still not fixed. This is driving me mad, any tasks probably takes me double the time or more due to this problem. My colleague has the same problem on a separate computer. Is this a known issue? Is there a setting somewhere that changes how updates are checked? Thanks for any help!

Strangely reminds me to my struggles... Want to do something "Elegant", reusable, universal, practical... In CODESYS??? 🙃 First of all, before you get too deep into this: If you could find a way, to make a "universal" log entry object, containing the variable length data itself, you wouldn't be able to store them in an array, or access them like an array, or pass them by value as a type. (please correct me, if I'm wrong, incorrect, or not precise). Because... Basically you can't declare a type with variable memory footprint. This is a very deeply embedded characteristic of CODESYS, and all IEC 61131-3 systems, and it has many reasons behind. And yes, it is a very common trap / mistake, to forget about. So, with a log entry - I guess - it's pretty much the purpose: store data and metadata together, and then handle it in a uniform way. There are ways to handle this, really depends on what is the purpose. For example: 1. Entries with fixed length (Maybe it is not as evil as it looks for the first time. Depends on the situation, but definitely the fastest and easiest code) You can have your base object, with an internal, fixed length string or byte array variable. I would go with a string, and call it _Data.; And then you can make properties, like As_Bool, As_Int, As_Real... In the 'set' accessors, you can do like: pReal := ADR(_Data); // POINTER TO REAL As_Real := pReal^; In the 'get' accessors, evidently: pReal := ADR(_Data); // POINTER TO REAL pReal^ := AS_Real; Or, can use ANY type, if you are not obsessed with variable / property like access: 2. If you really want to do entries with variable size In a standard environment, it would be similar to the previous, except you dont have the container variable _Data, just use a pointer, practically _Descr.pValue At Initialize (SET_Value), you have to allocate the memory, would be easy with SysMem.SysMemAlloc - nowadays with SysMem.SysMemAllocData -, and you make sure to release it after use with SysMem.SysMemFreeData... SysMemAlloc was already hidden. The problem with this, that sooner or later your application will totally fragment the dynamic memory, and fail... So should look for some form of dynMaybe MemUtils.MemoryManager (I am not sure what is the status and the future of it). 4. You will end up by a LogEntry Factory ... 5. You could still have a look at this IEC Snippets BTW, Standard Codesys Logger is not a bad choice either. If you are really interested, I share some more code / library.

Hi Folks, Every time I use an IFM controller I always seem to run into a problem connecting to it. I get the Communications Error (#0). So I thought I would share some tips and tricks. Once the CANfox Cable (EC2112) cable driver is installed, you can use the yellow app in the sys tray to blink the lights on the cable. Confirm the cable works in the IFM maintenance software by connecting to the controller and reading the information on it. Make sure to download an OS into the controller (the light will go from a fast blink to solid green). In Codesys V2.3, the communication settings for the CR0401 is 250kBaud by default and Node ID 127. What got me, was I needed to reboot the computer after the cable driver install. Also if your application has canbus settings in it which are changed from default, after the controller is power cycled, the new Node ID and Baud will be in effect. I made a handy guide because too much time has been wasted on this. Programming IFM CR0401 Serial/Can Programming Cable ‱ Connect IFM EC2112 CanFox programming cable with connector adapter. ‱ Make sure cable is linked to VM (if using VM). ‱ Install drivers for cable if not installed. o Download from IFM EC2112 site. https://www.ifm.com/ca/en/product/EC2112 ‱ Once Installed, reboot computer. ‱ In system tray, there should be a yellow icon that you can open and check on programming cable. Select the cable in the list and flash the lights to confirm it is working. Maintenance Software ‱ Install IFM Maintenance Tool Software. o Download from IFM Site. https://www.ifm.com/ca/en/download/eco100_MaintenanceTool ‱ Open IFM Maintenance software ‱ Select Basic System ‱ Select CAN cable ‱ It will tell you if you don’t have a cable connected. ‱ Use Wizard if needed. ‱ Read Channel Parameter on the Settings page, or get Identity in the System Information > Identity. ‱ Default Node is 127 on a new unit. Baud is 250kBaud (bits/sec) ‱ Controller information should populate. ‱ Controller green light should be blinking at 5hz (meaning OK but no OS, just bootloader). ‱ Click Software > Load. ‱ Open the OS file. Should match Codesys version selection (for CR0401 this is version 3). o Download OS file from IFM Website. https://www.ifm.com/ca/en/product/CR0401 o It is located at the top of the download under “software for CR0401”. o Select the file and load it
 this will take a minute. ‱ Once completed the unit should now have a solid green light o Solid green means the controller has an OS but no application is running. Codesys V2.3 Application ‱ Codesys needs to be downloaded and installed from the IFM website as it has the IFM libraries and license to use the software. o Download from the IFM CR0401 page. o https://www.ifm.com/ca/en/product/CR0401 ‱ Create new application with the correct IFM controller or Open Codesys application. ‱ Keep in mind that the PLC Configuration on the Resources tab can be changed for the CAN communication interface
 so changes to node and baud will take effect after the first download and reboot of the controller. ‱ Go to “Online” in the top menu and change “Communication Parameters” o The Local dropdown shows the last configuration used. All other interfaces will show below it and need to be updated when changed or used. o Confirm Node ID is 127 for the first download.  The NodeID will change to whatever the program has after (in my case 125).  Node Send Offset should be default at 1536  Node Recv Offset should be default at 1408  Can bus Baudrate should be 250 kbaud.  Yes to Motorola Byte Order  Block Transfer should be false and note used (60 is default setting).  Can Card Driver should match the systray item which is Sie_USB. ‱ If the system populated the other one, just update and relay the communication parameters. The software will usually bring up the available cable and driver. ‱ Go to “Online” and Login to download. o Press Yes to Download Application. I hope this helps!

Dear folks, I think I have a rather simple question but I could not find the right answer to my question: I have made with Excel a CSV file where I would like to have some general data regarding my program variables. I have made an program what let me read the file. The string I am currently get is at follows: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$R$NPort_number;2000$R$NCycle_time;43$R$NStart_Standard_IO;20$R$N' Now I want to split the string in multiple part, which I later would connect to the right variable. I understand that the Find() function returns the first value the $R$N in the Received_string_without_BOM. I expected that the outcome the following was: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$'. However the outcome is: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$R'. I do not understand where the R after the $ sign comes from, because its place is 24 so it would not be added to the part_of the_string[index]. If I hard coded value 24 for the size it gives me the following return: 'IP_Adres;192.168.45.12$R$N'. I would expect everything till the R but the code adds the $N also to the string. I hope someone could explain to my what I am seeing wrong in my point of view? With kind regards, George

I started to experience the same issue, after upgrading to 3.5.19 , and still persists with 3.5.20.3 , using CodesysControlWinV3 x64 on Windows. Unfortunately, this is a live application, normally it is running for months without interruption - so it was a surprise at the last cold start... It was not possible to go online with the original version, so I couldn't see the application, or system status, just the log message. First time I manually clean the Application from the PlcLogic directory (there was no coredump file in there), then I could start the runtime service, and do a fresh download, and set the bootproject. I could not try a cold system reboot - it's in a 24/7 production environment, and I was under heavy pressure to start... What I did, I have created a backup from the * complete * runtime directory, from the failed, and fixed version - before and after download. This directory in my case C:\ProgramData\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64\55096128 - At the next shutdown, it was sufficient to copy back this backup completely, and could start the runtime service afterwards. Ugly, but local staff with some skills can do it without programming tool... I don't store any live data, configuration, log files, persistent data in this directory - the only reason I need this is to edit the CodesysControl... .cfg file.... And to see the logfiles in emergencies like this. The application concerned doesn't use any retain area. - exactly for these reasons - Maybe that is causing the problem with the newer runtime versions As far as I see, this problem occurs only if the power of the Windows PLC is interrupted without a proper shutdown. Unfortunately, this can happen sometimes. The newer versions, seems tp modify CodesysControl.cfg on the fly, and register the applications, and bootproject information after download. Maybe... Should set RetainType.Applications=None? I wonder about all these settings, but... Will write separately about it. I hope this helps a little...

Hi, I wanted to use the Adafruit Hat for the Raspberry and get acquainted with Softmotion using servos for RC models. This did work great with Codesys 3.5.19 Patch 1, but with Patch 4 and 5 i get errors. I suspect changes in the SoftMotion library have broken dependencies in the legacy drivers, might that be true? Hi, I am quite new to Codesys and I try to do a Profinet connection to an Siemens PLC (315-2DP) with CP343-1 Lean Modul. I already configured the Siemens PLC, exported the GSDML. Then I added a new project in Codesys, added following moduls: - Ethernet - PN_Controller - Imported Profinet Device via GSDML importer When I start the programm everything looks fine but I always get the message "Stopped Profinet" and no data is available This is only for a small test. Therefore I start to do that on a Windows 10 with Development System. Later I will try to realize this on Raspberry. Ethernet Adapter is configured (192.168.1.1 / 24) Firewall deactivated WinPCap is installed S7-Station seems to be found ('fuadazenzitest') Can please somebody help me?

Hi guys, I am working on an old project which using Codesys v2.3 talks to Beijer's screen TA150 (IX-Developer 2.20). Codesys v2.3 is different with 3.5 and Ecockpit. I know how to import the symbols from PLC to HMI for Codesys 3.5 and Ecockpit. However, I do not know how to do it on Codesys v2.3. I know that I can make excel sheet to import and export from the HMI and add whatever I want based on PLC. However, is there any quicker way of doing this? So that I can directly import the symbols (tags) from PLC (Codesys 2.3 to HMI).

Hello and thanks for reply. I not have "Libray Manager" on "Update Device". I not try to open project but i open Codesys and then create a new project and when try to generate code i have the error :/ I notiche a strnge situation. I have two different software on my pc: CODESYS V3.5 SP15 Patch 4 (with this my new program not work but can open and work with some course example); CODESYS V3.5 SP19 Patch 2 (with this my custom program work) Wich version i must be choose? Why i have two different version? Thanks

Hello, its still not quite clear to me how to deal with the PLCLogic directory in linux. I have the directory right here: I need to correctly access the files in this folder through CODESYSControl.cfg. Here is my CODESYSControl.cfg where on the first lines there are a few lines: [SysFile] FilePath.1=/etc/, 3S.dat PlcLogicPrefix=1 That means that if I am going to use relative paths its going to go to from the PLCLogic directory right ? For example here: Whitch paths should I use. I cant seem to successfully run any of these aproaches ...

I have a project with several buttons and dialogs. Most of the dialogs are opened using the Open Dialog action of the Input configuration of the buttons. Some dialogs are openend using the FbOpenDialogExtended FB of the Visu Utils library and the FbOpenDialogExtended FB is called in the Execute ST-Code action. I am also using the FileOpenSave dialog from Visu Dialogs which requires an OnDialogClosed action to read out. I realized that the OnDialogClosed action which is meant for the FileOpenSave dialog also triggers if a dialog is closed, which was previously openend using the FbOpenDialogExtended FB. Is there a way to detect which dialog was closed last and specify to which dialogs the OnDialogClosed action reacts?

Hi kdkwhite, for Word you still can use suggested code by using a union structure and crack down your Word to two byte as bellow: TYPE CrackWordToByte : UNION InWord : WORD; OutBytes : ARRAY [0..1] OF BYTE; END_UNION END_TYPE then define your variable as this type: udInput : CrackWordToByte; now assign your Word variable input to InWord and send OutBytes[x] to the mentioned method: udInput.InWord := WordVariableInput; Input := udInput.OutBytes[x]; Regarding your question about the code: actually 48 is ascii code of "0" and while 65 is the ascii code of "A" so in above code 55 + 10 would be 65.

Hi all, for a deeper understanding of the Codesys RTE - I created a simple application with 3 IEC tasks (Ta,Tb,Tc) each with different priorities, and different cycle times. The application runs on Windows 10 in the Soft PLC CODESYS Control Win V3. If my understanding is correct, the RTE i.e. the Process CodesysControlService should spawn 3 threads (Th_a,Th_b,Th_c) which are executed with the defined cycle times, the priority of the threads should reflect the priority of the task set in the Codesys IDE. Does somebody have an idea, how I could identify the respective threads in Windows? Kind regards Andrej

I have a project called 'DemoProject' and a library called 'DemoLib'. Create a visual control named "DemoVisu" in the library, with a selection box of type "ComboBoxInteger" in the space. Now 'ComboBoxInteger' requires a 'Text list'. This "Text list" is provided when I call the "DemoVisu" control of the "DemoLib" library in "DemoProject". And this text list is in 'DemoProject'. I found that 'ComboBoxInteger' no longer works at this time. Other visual controls that use text lists also have this issue. I hope there is a good solution to this problem.
