When trying to move my axis using any group move instruction I get the following error: SMC_CP_INVALID_PATH_ELEM and axisgroup goes into errorstop state. I tested my methods thoroughly which makes it hard for me to debug. Are there some hidden rules I need to abide to? How would one go about debugging a custom robotics model, since the information inside isn't accesible. Is it possible to find the source of where the function breaks? Any hint in the right direction would be appreciated. Best regards

Let's say I have a CODESYS controller (PLC) with a runtime version around 3.5.19. If I use development software version 3.5.21.40 or a later version that will be released in the future for programming, could there be any problems or malfunctions in the controller's program execution or in the execution of the new, updated function blocks from the newer software? I mostly work with servo-based motion applications, so please keep that in mind when answering, and provide a detailed answer so I don't have to email you again about this topic.

That's what I found as well Shaun. I have seen it at least in versions 3.5.21.1 and 3.5.21.3. There seems to be an issue with the FBD/LD package v4.6.0.0. The workaround proposed by Tim works but needs to be done manually on every code change/addition. For now we manually downgrade the FBD/LD package from v4.6.0.0 down to v4.5.0.0 after installation of CoDeSys. Same as you did. I hope this gets fixed on a next patch.

Hello, I have a problem that randomly appeared today. When trying to scan a network adapter in "Deploy Control SL" the whole program hangs and needs to be restarted. I have been running "CODESYS v3.5 SP21 Patch 3" for a while and it has worked without any issues until now. I've tried upgrading to "CODESYS v3.5 SP21 Patch 4" with the same result. I've not made any system settings recently that im aware of which could cause this. Has anybody had similar a issue?

Hello, I'm coming from Siemens (TIA) world and currently learning Codesys. I'd like to know if there is an option to add external txt file with ST code for creation of a function block and then use this file as a source file from which FB will be generated? For example, in TIA, there is an option add external source file to the project structure and then use option "Generate blocks from source". This would create a FB. Does Codesys have something similar? This external source file would look like this: FUNCTION_BLOCK Scaling VAR_INPUT x, k, n : REAL; END_VAR VAR_OUTPUT y : REAL; END_VAR VAR END_VAR y := k*x+n; END_FUNCTION_BLOCK

Hello, we have aproblen to connect our CODESYS OPC Client to the OPC Server. We installed the client according the CODESYS manual. We can browse the server and variables can be linked to the PLC. I created a self signed certificate for the CmpOPCUAClent as described. The server has a cerificate also. I copied the certificates to the trusted zone of server and client. But when it comes to data exchange we get an error message. "Communication error in data source OPC UA Library. Error ID : 7001 German : "Kommunikatinsfehler inder Datenquelle OPC UA -Bibiothek. Es wurde kein genauer Fehler angegeben. Fehler ID : 7001" It semms that there is no cerificate exchange. We are working with CODESYS 3.5 SP19 Patch 5. Can anyone here say something about this error or has an idea for a solution? Thanks.

Hi, In Codesys V3.5 SP20, using Data Source Manager I am trying to connect to the OPC UA server and receive tags from it. The connection is ok, but the Codesys have a problem with downloading Tags group. The window (downloadingTags.jpg in attachement) never stop. After waiting for a while, I disconnect the connection and only the Server group remains downloaded, with OPC UA server diagnostic data (and this is read in Codesys). Of course, I tried connected via another OPC UA client : UaExpert , and everything works as it should, all tags are downloaded (Uaexpert.jpg screen). Has anyone on the forum encountered the OPC UA client configuration in Codesys? Is it possible to manually request the appropriate tags from the OPC server for reading in Codesys?

Hello, I have a project using some EPEC PLC's. Some of them are programmable using Ethernet and some use CAN. We currently have a Raspberry Pi that is acting as a gateway to the Codesys Automation Server and is successfully working for the PLC's communicating over ethernet. I am trying to achieve a similar result for the PLC's that have only CAN access. I have PEAKCan drivers on the Pi, and can successfully send/receive messages. But the Gateway does not recognise the PLC when scanned from the Automation server online. Is there a library or service that exists to translate the CAN messaging, to the Edge Gateway, and be able to achieve remote access with the Automation Server? Or is this not possible without creating something custom? Cheers, Daniel

Thank you so much. This worked. Waht im trying to do here is to automatically tag each sensors, valves and so on. There is a preatty nasty tag system i working on. "_320" is not alloved. I can have a tag "+4f=320.004-RT001V" In codesys I want to build the FB in folders. -4f | --320 | --001 This is the system structure. Inside here is all of the sensors and so on. But with Codesys, I cannot tag this like this. So what I'm trying to do now is to Make a folder for the building "4f" and one for the system "320", and a POU _001. Is there a way in init to get folder names?

Hi, I've read the CamBuilder documentation and it shows to use the left boundary of the first segment as SMCB.BoundImplicit(), so that the transition is as smooth as possible. With this it sets X and Y to 0. My first slave position is not 0 (say for example it's 100), so I would set it with SMCB.Bound(0,100). My question is that when the cam goes back to the start (Periodic := TRUE) , will it blend with the last position (360, 100) if I do this? I imagine it will, but the documentation isn't clear as the information in the Periodic Cams only says to set Smooth Transition in the cam properties - but when I'm defining it with code there isn't an option for Smooth Transition to be set. I've got a visualization I'm working on with some rectangles and lines. When I simulate the program I get an Error and Message in my message box, "Error during Updating the Visualisation:" and "Overflow error." Any ideas on how to fix this? I only have 70 elements total for this visualization. I am using absolute movement for a few of the elements, would this cause the issue? The visualization seemed fine before I added these movement elements, but there is only 7 that move, that doesn't seem like it should over load the system. I am currently testing using simulation so I'm not sure if that has an effect either. I tried looking in the codesys help manual and couldn't find anything referencing this.

Hello, I am trying to connect to my PLC (IFM CR711S) via VPN(EWON COSY). I have been told to use Gateway SP14 or higher. I installed CODESYS 3.5 SP20 Patch4. In the Codesys Installer Software I can sleect "Set Gateway Service" and I do so for CODESYS 3.5 SP20 Patch4. I can start the Gateyay and select About and it shows: "CoDeSys Gateway V3 - x64 Version 3.5.20.40" (see attached) For compatibility reasons I have to run my PLC code in 3.5 SP11 and when I start I can first connect but then somehow the system restarts an older version of the Gateway only displaying: "CoDeSys Gateway V3" (see attached) I guess my question is how to run an old Cocesys Software with a new Gateway?

Hi, I have an OPC UA information model with objects defined in it. I can import the model and use the data types defined in it and create instances of these types. These instances are accessible at Root > Objects > DeviceSet > CODE[...] > Resources > Application > GlobalVars > OPC_UA_Symbols for created instances and at [...] > Programs > PLC_PRG for mapped instances. The object defined in the information model is accessible in UA Expert by the name I have defined in the information model (Manipulator) at Root > Objects > Manipulator. Hi All, I have problem with ModbusFB.ClientSerial. I'm using 4 different port for Modbus communication. After some time of running program ClientSerial stops to receive data to reply buffer and all request finish with Reply Timeout. The Device sent reply correctly,that it is visible on oscilloscope and it is possible to see that data( reply )are in the device. If the usbtty device is read over external app. then it is possible to see all data which were not taken by ModbusFB.ClientSerial. The stack does not overflow or something , program runs correctly forward and no exceptions or something. The main problem it is that when the error occur than it is not possible to reset port or something or maybe i'm doing it wrong way. please help me with this issue. Hi manuknecht, the axis group currently always writes the axis set torque values. If no dynamic model has been configured for the axis group, then the set torques are written to 0. The solution for your use case is to call SMC_GroupUpdate [0] before you call SMC_SetTorque on the axes. This way, the axis group will write 0 to the set torques in the call to SMC_GroupUpdate(), and SMC_SetTorque then will write the desired set torque. Thank you for your quick response, I have updated to the 4.17.0 (Virtual control and the license server). Now I am able to see the softcontainer from the Codesys IDE. But when I want to activate the license I get the following message: Licensing info not available. The device does not support this service (See picture). I then tried to active it via the WBM service like you suggested. But when I try this is get an error (see picture for error). I also tried to put RTS- in front of the serial number, but when I try this I get an error that the serial number is not correct. I think I'm getting closer, but I'm not there yet.

Wanted to play a bit with a raspberry Pi 4 Model B HW 1.5 and Codesys. Regardless of the image (tried 32bit / 64bit version from Raspberry Pi Imager) and with all tested Codesys Control versions (4.2.0, 4.8.0, 4.10.0) and regardless if single core / multicore / 64 bit variant, always is the runtime stopped after about 30sec with the nice message: ooops... this runtime was built for RASPBERRYPI. Hardware version or firmware version not supported! (-7, 0x00000BB8, 0xFFFFFFFB) Whats wrong with it?!?!? I read a lot about the issue in topics from 2020-2021 but it always was stated with new Codesys control version issue will be fixed (4.4 for example) but still it is there.

ABB Automation Builder v2.5.0.22 Premium CodeSys 2.3.9.62 Running on Win 10 VM x64 Goal: I have an EtherCAT topology issue which normally a "Scan for devices.." on the EtherCAT master would shed some light on. Issue: Upon trying such I get a "No gateway selected" error. Question: How might I point the the "scanner" at a gateway? What is working: Gateway is running in system tray. I can go online to PLC. A scan from the "Diagnostics live" tab of the EtherCAT master gives slave status. What I have tried: Restarting gateway in system tray. Exiting system tray gateway and reloading it. Turning off firewall. Contacting ABB support multiple times. Any help appreciated.

Since a time, I'm looking on how to use the KeyPad in vizualization to fill a textlist or something similar. my application is : In one window, I would need to be able to writte a string linked to an Numeric Values. => I can't use a std text list inside my software, as per this would be custom by customer. then from another windows I would need a "text box" to be able to select any of this String. I'm trying to work with Codesys Control for Linux ARM64 SL 4.18.0.0 on a Toradex Verdin NXP iMX8MP. I have the runtime installed and operational as well as Codemeter lite 8.40.7141.503 (arm64). I'm running 3.5.20.60 and when "Scan Network" I see the Verdin popup. When I try to connect to it, the "mandatory use of the user management" popup shows...which makes sense. I click YES and enter user information and click OK. It immediately displays a "No device is responding to the scan request" popup. The IDE can see the Verdin in the scan...so this popup does not make sense to me. I thought maybe it was a read only issue but I've made all partitions and paths RW. Has anyone experienced this? Can anyone tell me where it is trying to write user data?
