Hello, We are trying to access remotely a PLC (ifm 711S) and a HMI (ifm CR1077). Both are connected to a Teltonika RUT200 router. We establish the connection with OpenVPN Connect and can ping both controllers. We have a laptop that, most of the time, will allow Codesys connection to the controllers, but we have several other computers that are unable to connect, although all of them can ping successfully. We cannot find any difference in the configuration or software installed from one PC to another. If we connect to the router by WIFI, instead of VPN, all the computers work fine. We know that scanning the network will not work over a remote connection, so we input the controller IP directly. Has anyone had a similar problem and can offer any hint on what to check to make the connection run?

Hi, My PLC/controller doesn't support OPC UA, so my current plan to create a ringbuffer/circular logger is to connect a raspberry pi to it, use the Network Variable List receiver and sender and raspberry pi codesys runtime to get the variables to the raspberry pi, after which I will use the pi which DOES support OPC UA to get the variables to a python program which logs the desired variables for a certain amount of time for me, would this work? I don't want to spend 50+ euros + licencing fees for a solution that might not work.

The option to update "Control for Linux SL" is not shown in the "deploy control SL tool", I can see and update the gateway but not the control (3.5.21 SP4). Has the way to update control SL changed? In the process of fault finding I removed the control SL entirely from my target, then I had to revert to version 3.5.21.0 SP 1 to re-install "Control SL 4.17.0.0". So I thought it was just a matter of using SP1 to update also to 4.18.0.0, but after installing the files for 4.18.0.0 in the SP1-version, the behavior was identical to SP4, ie no Control for Linux SL shown in the deploy tool.. Hi there, Task: dynamical changing the scaling of an bar graph, linear scaling whitout showing the bar only the scaling values and Lines for Main and partial steps. Define 4 Limits for Hi and LO Values with different colors Option 1 : use the bar graph whitout showing the actual bar whitout showing the bar, only the scaling values and lines for main and partial steps. Then what to do with the 4 Limits ? I could use 4 moveable Rectangles with the start and end value fo the areas but then the whoel bargraph must be transparent. Best way would be if only the scale ist possible to show as it is possible for the Meter 180° but this option does not exist for the bargraph. Option 2 : user defined HMTL5 Widgets wich may be some allreay has created or where is a dome for using this kind of html5 widget. The expanse for use html is in my eyes to big and gives more option for errors. Have some one experience in this topic or a hint how to do it the easiest way? Thanks for your help.

Using Codesys 3.5.18.30 I am trying to work with an array of variable length in one dimension, but known in the other dimension. For example, using an array that represents a list of items, each with an attribute profile. I do not know how many items will be in the list, but I know that every item has 5 attributes, like size, weight, etc. Codesys does not seem to be able to accept this. I have referenced Data Type: ARRAY OF documentation page, which is not explicit if variable & fixed length array dimensions can be mixed. In the VAR_IN_OUT scope, I initially tried MY_ARRAY : ARRAY [*, *] OF REAL; which was no problem, of course. I then modified it to MY_ARRAY : ARRAY [*, 1..5] OF REAL; which throws C0006: ', or ]' expected instead of '..' among consequent downstream errors. I then used the Auto Declare -> Array Wizard, which accepted (asterisk)-(asterisk) and 1-5 for 2-dimensional lower and upper bounds. It output: MY_ARRAY: ARRAY[*..*, 1..6] OF INT; which throws the same error stream. What's the deal here? Is this possible?

I have a main PLC with my CODESYS project on, including Web Visu. I also have a second device used for pump monitoring, all of this is displayed on a seperate HMI. I am looking at displaying the pump monitoring HMI on WebVisu so that I can solely use 1 HMI rather than having two. I can project the pump monitoring HMI into Chrome, and log in and it works fine. When I'm using the Web Browser element in Web Visu, enter my URL (device IP) it shows me the web page, but doesn't show me all of it. It uses parts of JavaScript for the login authenticiation and various other widgets. Similarly, I cannot get Youtube or Google to display on WebVisu either (possibily because of the same reason). Does anybody have any tips on how I can display the likes of Youtube or Google onto WebVisu so I can view it on my 7inch HMI (I suspect that if I can get Youtube or Google to work, then I will also be able to get my pump montitoring web page to work too).

Hello, I've been trying to use EoE for communication between a Windows PC and an M753 drive from Control Technique. Despite following some online guides (https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/EtherCATStack/4.3.0.0/Ethernet_over_EtherCAT/fld-Ethernet_over_EtherCAT.html) I haven’t had any success. Both are connected to a Debian device where RTE is running: The PC is connected via the Ethernet port. The drive is connected via the EtherCAT port. I'm unable to ping the drive from my Windows PC. Here is my configuration: On Debian: (See attachments 1, 2, 3) enp1s0 = Ethernet port enp2s0 = EtherCAT port tap2 = TAP device IP forwarding and routes are both configured. On Windows: (See attachments 4, 5) On Codesys: (See attachments 6, 7) Version: Windows 11 Debian GNU/Linux 11 Codesys 3.5.17 Control for Linux SL 4.7.0 EtherCAT 4.4.0 With this configuration, I can ping the TAP device, but not the drive (See attachment 8). Hi everyone. My question about: where I can learn (read or watch) an info about codesys workflow through the system IO libs? I want to know how to implement I/O drivers by my self. In the system libs I see many interfaces, methods etc... But there is no explanation about them, just names of methods and fields of the FBs. I know about this page: https://forge.codesys.com/drv/io-drivers/doc/Generic/ There is so BIG the device description file and not so clear explaining of the attributes and elements, also some elements or attributes missed at it all. Yes, there are code examples on this page, but, so shortly and, for example, code about Modbus drivers is absent. And even if I try to add the IoDrvFB with lib, I get and error, something like: "failed to load IoDrvFB driver". And what about the book of codesys that written by Gary Pratt? Is there information about system libs and drivers in this book more clearly? Thank you :)

Hey there! I am currently doing a little automation project for uni. I am trying to integrate a control-valve-system (Buerkert AirLINE Field) in my IO-Link environment. With IFM sensors, I used their pre-built function blocks, but with this third-party device, i need to write my own function block. Thankfully, IFM provides a generic sensor-fb so I can write my own FB with "extends" and "super". So far, so good. I found the IODD and some other documentation and I thought I get how it works, but somehow can't really get it to work at all. From my understanding, i need to write data into the PDO-Array. But i get confused with the indices and subindices of IO-Link. I'll append the IODD and some screenshots of my project. There is an AOI for LogicXDesigner, but I can't use that in Codesys. You will need a USB to RS485 converter to connect the PC to the Modbus RTU Slave Device. In Windows this converter will be recognized as Serial COM poort (e.g. COM2, or COM3, see the windows device manager to find this out). Select this port in your CODESYS application. On the PC you need to use the CODESYS Control Win (SoftPLC) to run your application. It will not work in simulation mode, because then the Modbus Communication will not be activated.

I had a similar error "Invalid ERR Ack input". What you need to do is link an variable from the "non-safe" PLC to the Group IOs of the POU in the Safety app. * Add a POU to the SafetyApp (probably already done, otherwise you don't get this error) * Right click on this POU - select properties * Go to the Group IOs tab * Link a variable to the Err.Ackn. input I don't know about the Size of zero, I didn't get this error. Were you able to fix this?

Hello, I am struggling with Edge gateway to the automation server. It is not possible to establish the link. When I create the Edge in codesys and get it to Automation server, it is red, unable to connect. Scan fails. RPi 4B Runtime 4.13.0.0 Edge gateway 4.13.0.0 Codesys 3.5.2.40 Any idea what to chase? I have been using previous versions of edge gateway. Now I updated all to latest versions, failed. Frustrating.

Hi, The '' characters in Codesys are there only to indicate it is a STRING type. They are not actually added to the string, maybe you are adding them unintentionally in the concat function? You can send your data from Codesys to Hercules to verify... Another option is to send the data as an array of bytes instead of a string, with every byte representing 1 ASCII character. https://www.ascii-code.com/ This way you are 100% sure Codesys is not adding any unwanted characters.

We are connected IFM CR711S to Exor EX710. We are exchanging data using network variables. Both devices are configured on same project so no need to use file source. When tested application it works fine. But after 3 months same application not working. We are able to send data from CR711 to EX710 but data from Ex710 to CR711s works only for one scan when we cold reset CR 711S. Can somebody help to find out error.

After updating my Codesys to later versions, it seems my device repository no longer lists the proper runtime devices, nor ethernet adapters, or other previously installed device descriptions. What needs to be done here? Do I need to uninstall and do a clean install? I am now updating to SP21.1 to see if that fixes it. Any tips what I am doing wrong here are much appreciated. I don't see codesys control win, or have the ability to add an ethernet adapter in my project.

Hi, I want to use Maxon IDX drives for some simple robotic applications. I have used Maxon's Epos for generating a DCF file to import in Codesys (attached). Then I can add the IDX motors under a CANopen manager in the device tree. Unfortunately, I cannot add a "softmotion axis" to the IDX motors. Now I am wondering, why? Without being able to attach a softmotion axis to the device in the device tree, the use of the motor is greatly reduced... spiessli

Hi geoweil, have you tried to save changed values to remanent area or using a VAR RETAIN? After restart you have to initialize Counter with last remanent value. Depending on changes per cycle and the possibilitiy of your control unit to write remanent storage. Otherwise you need a buffering system to ensure save backup of last PI_Counter value. Hi, With the new Runtime Based User Management, is there any way for WebVisu clients to be logged in to a default user automatically - no login prompt? I would like for the default user to be able to perform normal operation of the machine, without logging in to the WebVisu. This is possible with the Legacy User Management. For the Runtime based user management, there seems to be a default user for the TargetVisu - but not for the WebVisu. -Bjarne

Hi All, I'm using codesys on a raspberry PI. I use V3.5 SP18 Patch 2 development system and codesys for raspberry pi 4.8.0.0. Sometimes when I build the project I get error messages C0007: Expression expected instead of ',' and C0032: Cannot convert type 'Unknow type: '!!!'ERROR'!!!" to type 'POINTER TO IoConfigParameter'. I can't click on the message to bring me to the fault. After I do a "Clean all" the build finishes successful. Anyone who can help me with this problem? Thanks! Remco Borghuis

Is it possible to get scroll bars to show when displaying a web visualization in V2.3? I've got some big pages that I can scroll around when using the in-built visualization but when they are displayed in IE i can't seem to scroll around. All I can do it drag the window bigger onto my other display to get access to the extra area. I've also tried zooming the page out in IE but this doesn't seem to work at all.
