I took a look at your project. First of all, a Raspbery Pi4 is installed. You must use the GPIOs_A_B(GPIOs B+/Pi2). The error ULINT can't be set to IDINT.... with your project as well. If I change your project to ‘CODESYS_Control_for_Raspberry_Pi_SL’ the error is gone.

I don't have a multiplexer so it very weird that it connects with that multiplexer. If i do a I2C scan on the PI terminal, i only get the device addresses 0x48 and 0x51. One for the ADC and one for RTC. I will try again with your libraries

Maybe there is a better way, but a long time ago I created a test application that worked like this: With a button I opened the dialog and I added a "Input configuration - OnDialogClosed" "Execute ST-Code" action to this same button which called the following Function when the dialog was closed: F_OnFileDialogClosed(pClientData); Below this Function which handled the result: // This function is called from the visualization when the dialog is closed. FUNCTION F_OnFileDialogClosed : BOOL VAR_INPUT pClientData : POINTER TO VisuElems.VisuStructClientData; END_VAR VAR dialogMan : VisuElems.IDialogManager; FileOpenCloseDialog : VisuElems.IVisualisationDialog; result : VisuElems.Visu_DialogResult; _sFileName : STRING(255); END_VAR // the DialogManager is provided via the implicitly available VisuManager dialogMan := VisuElems.g_VisuManager.GetDialogManager(); IF dialogMan <> 0 AND pClientData <> 0 THEN FileOpenCloseDialog := dialogMan.GetDialog('VisuDialogs.FileOpenSave'); // gets the FileOpenSave dialog IF FileOpenCloseDialog <> 0 THEN result := FileOpenCloseDialog.GetResult(); // gets the result (OK, Cancel) of the dialog IF result = VisuElems.Visu_DialogResult.OK THEN // Original code gvlFile.FileListProvider(); _sFileName := CONCAT(gvlFile.FileListProvider._stDirectory, gvlFile.FileListProvider.stFile); // do something with this file name... Post by arundara on Variable Sync Issue In Soft Plc Redundancy CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I was trying to create a redundancy POC for our application where we read data from few modbus tcp devices. As there is a limitaion that modbus tcp device support only for single master device, we wanted to test how the variable sync happens in redundancy mode. For that i have used the redundancy sample code added a variable "b" under a condition. What i observed was while active controller is running, if passive controller is powerup, passive controller is able to sync all the data configured for redundacny. But after that the variable data which resided under a condition is not synching from active to passive controller. I have attached the image where i have highlighter the variable. Can some help me to understand how redundacny work in codesys soft plc and if there is a solution to sync variable which are under condition, please explain the same or suggestion to achieve the same. Hardware - Raspberry Pi (2 qty) Redundancy licence used - yes in both controllers. Codesys runtime - 4.9.0.0 Codesys software version - V3.5 SP19 if i have posted this question in wrong section, please do let me know in whcih section i have to post this question.

Post by open on How to create a stopwatch? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi @ph0010421, I tried the program the TimeTaken is calculated when stop is triggered. I want the TimeTaken to be continuously calculated and counting when a BOOL variable is true. I tried to program this way: Declaration: PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR bStartStop: BOOL := FALSE; // Start/Stop button bReset: BOOL := FALSE; // Reset button bRunning: BOOL := FALSE; // Flag indicating whether the stopwatch is running tStartTime: TIME; // Variable to store the start time tElapsedTime: TIME; // Variable to store the elapsed time END_VAR Implementation: // Main program logic IF bReset THEN // Reset button pressed, reset the stopwatch bRunning := FALSE; tElapsedTime := T#0s; ELSIF bStartStop THEN // Start/Stop button pressed, toggle the running state IF bRunning THEN // Stop the stopwatch bRunning := FALSE; ELSE // Start the stopwatch bRunning := TRUE; tStartTime := tElapsedTime; END_IF; END_IF // Update the elapsed time when the stopwatch is running IF bRunning THEN tElapsedTime := tElapsedTime + T#1s; // Adjust the time increment as needed END_IF However counting of the seconds is not accurate. I tried changing the main task cycle time interval to 1000ms. The counting of seconds become slower. (see attached) Please help

Post by ph0010421 on How to create a stopwatch? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Do you need an 'hours-run' counter? And 1 second resolution is ok? I think you're over-thinking it. (The task time needs to be < 1second) Have a look at the LAD... Then, the time in seconds can be made into hh:mm:ss with this FUNction Declarations: FUNCTION funSecondsToStringTime: string VAR_INPUT InSeconds: UDINT; END_VAR VAR AsString: STRING; Minutes: UDINT; Hours: UDINT; Seconds: UDINT; MinutesAsString: STRING(2); HoursAsString: STRING(2); SecondsAsString: STRING(2); END_VAR and the code: Hours := InSeconds / 60 / 60; //Derive hours Minutes := (InSeconds - (Hours * 60 * 60)) / 60; //Derive minutes Seconds := InSeconds - ((Hours * 60 * 60) + (Minutes * 60));//Derive seconds HoursAsString := UDINT_TO_STRING(Hours); MinutesAsString := UDINT_TO_STRING(Minutes); SecondsAsString := UDINT_TO_STRING(Seconds); IF LEN(HoursAsString) = 1 THEN HoursAsString := CONCAT('0',HoursAsString); END_IF; IF LEN(MinutesAsString) = 1 THEN MinutesAsString := CONCAT('0',MinutesAsString); END_IF; IF LEN(SecondsAsString) = 1 THEN SecondsAsString := CONCAT('0',SecondsAsString); END_IF; AsString := CONCAT(HoursAsString, ':'); //assemble string AsString := CONCAT(AsString,MinutesAsString); AsString := CONCAT(AsString,':'); AsString := CONCAT(AsString, SecondsAsString); funSecondsToStringTime := AsString;

Post by ragarcia on Error while using UpdateConfiguredIPSettings to change IP address CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello everyone, I am trying to change dynamically by code the IP address of a Weidmuller controller. So I am basically using IoDrvEthernet library to use UpdateConfiguredIPSettings function but I am getting constantly the 'INVALID_STATE' error. Even though I am following a procedure it should work: * First I added on the config file of codesys the following: [SysSocket] Adapter.0.Name="eth0" Adapter.0.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 Adapter.1.Name="eth1" Adapter.1.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 * Secondly I am first disabling the ethernet interface by using Ethernet_0.Enable = FALSE and then executing DED.Reconfigure. After that, I run the Ethernet_1.updateConfiguredIPSettings Code: Ethernet_1.Enable:= EnableDisable; Reconfigure(xExecute:= TRUE, itfNode:= Ethernet_1, xError=> ErrorReconfigure, eError=> ErrorCodeReconfigure); IF Reconfigure.xDone THEN ErrorCodeIP:= Ethernet_1.UpdateConfiguredIPSettings(IPAddress:= newIP, SubnetMask:= newMask, Gateway:= newGW); END_IF IF Reconfigure.xDone OR Reconfigure.xError THEN Reconfigure(xExecute:= FALSE); END_IF Ethernet_1.Enable:= TRUE; Reconfigure(xExecute:= TRUE, itfNode:= Ethernet_1); IF Reconfigure.xDone OR Reconfigure.xError THEN Reconfigure(xExecute:= FALSE); END_IF Can someone help me? Thank you. All I am trying is to find a way to change dynamically with code, the IP addresses of my controller (2 ethernet ports).

I am trying to do "update device" in a project which was saved in a different version of CODESYS using ScriptEngine, a dialog with 'Yes' and 'No' button popped up showing that "Do you want to upgrade the storage format for this project? -if you click 'Yes', storage format will be upgraded... -if you click 'No', storage format will not be changed..." I have to click the 'Yes' button automatically by scriptEngine. I know from others topics here in forum, that some dialogs can be auto-answered using system.prompt_answers. And I also get the messagekey of this dialog: Key: "<< No Key>>" Message: "Do you want to upgrade the storage format for this project? - If you click 'Yes',... i have tried using the system.prompt_answers command below, but the dialog was not auto-answered. system.prompt_answers["<<No Key>>"] = PromptResult.Yes Does someone know how to auto-answer the dialog using system.prompt_answers command with messagekey"<< No key>>"? or any suggestions to solve this issue, Thanks!

Post by yannickasselin on Connect to remote PLC via local pc and teamviewer CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Yes it is possible. I did it a lot of times using TeamViewer VPN. Unfortunately, TeamViewer VPN only works on Windows. If the remote PLC is a Codesys runtime running on Windows, you should be able to login directly using TeamViewer VPN if it is installed on the PC/PLC. If it is not Windows based, you can still do it but you need to have a Windows based PC acting as a gateway in the middle. In this case you need to enable IP Forwarding on the Windows remote PC (the gateway) and you need to setup the gateway IP address on the PLC to be the address of the Windows PC. Then you need to add a route on your local PC to point to the gateway PC for Codesys communication. I know it may not be detailed enough but I did not want to make a whole tutorial on how to do it. Bottom line, it is possible. I do it all the time.

Post by mondinmr on Direct Pointers in IOMapping for EtherCAT with IoDrvEthercatLib.ETCSlave_Dia CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I have found a very interesting solution using: IoConfigTaskMap IoConfigConnectorMap IoConfigChannelMap The first is the list of IO tasks. The second is the connector for each IO module in the IOMap. The third is the individual input or output on the IOMap. One of the properties of the connector is another pointer to a connector, which corresponds with the connector of the EtherCAT slave. Through this information, it is possible to understand to which EtherCAT slave an IO connectormap corresponds. Post by danieldiaz on Problem with FB execution CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello everyone, I've been working on a system which needs an error function, with this purpose I've created a FB programmed in LD, after debugging I run the simulation. It seems that the variable linked to a coil doesn't change the value when the contacts are associated to input variables. When I use internal variables the logic works properly. I don't know if the problem is related to the variables definition or with the logic program. As you can see in the image, I1 and I2 are variables declared on the FB, the rest are input variables. If I force the eStop and Reset signals to TRUE the coil value should change, but it doesn't. However in the second network if I1 is TRUE the coil change to TRUE as it has to be. To sum up, my doubt is why that coil doesn't change its value? I would like someone to shed a light on this. Thanks!

Post by paro on Modbus Client Request Not Processed CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, Problem in your code is that you are not calling the ClientFb cyclic. Please look at the Example from CODESYS: https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/modbus/home/Home/ Your code works if the client fb is called cyclic! IF NOT initDone THEN initDone := TRUE; // configure clientTcp clientTcp(aIPaddr:=Ethernet.IPAddress, uiPort:=502); // configure clientSerial clientSerial(iPort:=SysCom.SYS_COMPORT2, dwBaudRate:=SysCom.SYS_BR_115200, byDataBits:=8, eParity:=SysCom.SYS_EVENPARITY, eStopBits:=SysCom.SYS_ONESTOPBIT, eRtuAscii:=ModbusFB.RtuAscii.RTU); // configure clientRequestReadCoils_1 clientRequestReadCoils_1(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=42, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); // configure clientRequestWriteSingleRegister clientRequestWriteSingleRegister(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=43, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); // configure clientRequestReadCoils_2 clientRequestReadCoils_2(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=44, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); // configure clientRequestReadInputRegisters clientRequestReadInputRegisters(rClient:=clientTcp, uiUnitId:=44, udiTimeout:=TO_UDINT(T#10MS)); END_IF // call the client FB's clientTcp(); clientSerial(); // call client request FB's clientRequestReadCoils_1(rClient:=clientTcp, xExecute:=TRUE, uiStartItem:=2, uiQuantity:=3, pData:=ADR(aDataCoils_1[0])); // for more details see Example_TCP, especially ClientRequest control (xExecute, xDone, xError). Post by caprez95 on Deleting the trend recording history CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hallo Ich möchte eine laufende Trendaufzeichnung stoppen, den Inhalt löschen und Trend-Diagramm auf 0 zurücksetzen. Laut Codesys soll das mit dem folgenden Code möglich sein: You can insert an input element in the visualization which the operator can use to delete the previous value recording in the trend visualization at runtime. The curve displayed until then is removed and the display starts over. In the application (example: in the program PLC_PRG), implement the following code: itfTrendRecording : ITrendRecording; itfTrendStorageWriter : ITrendStorageWriter; itfTrendStorageWriter3 : ITrendStorageWriter3; sTrendRecordingName : STRING := 'TrendRecording'; itfTrendRecording := GlobalInstances.g_TrendRecordingManager.FindTrendRecording(ADR(sTrendRecordingName)); xClearHistoryTrend: BOOL; IF xClearHistoryTrend THEN itfTrendRecording := GlobalInstances.g_TrendRecordingManager.FindTrendRecording(ADR(sTrendRecordingName)); IF itfTrendRecording <> 0 THEN itfTrendStorageWriter := itfTrendRecording.GetTrendStorageWriter(); IF __QUERYINTERFACE(itfTrendStorageWriter, itfTrendStorageWriter3) THEN itfTrendStorageWriter3.ClearHistory(); END_IF END_IF In the visualization of the trend recording, add a button for deleting the previous curve. Configure its Toggle property with the variable PLC_PRG.xClearHistoryTrend. ⇒ When xClearHistoryTrend is set to TRUE, the previously recorded curve is deleted. The recording immediately starts again. Gruss

Post by brubingh on Download Missing Libraries not working CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
We are working on a project and the customer required 3.5.16 BF4. After working on the project for a few weeks I opened it the next morning and it could not access libraries. IecVarAccess could not be accessed. I checked if windows updated - it did not. So no explanation for why it lost access other than that I shut down the computer for the night. Note that I am using a demo license. I still haven't figured out any reason to purchase a license. So I spent the next hour reinstalling CodeSys. Note that I did NOT uninstall first. After install I waited another 5 minutes for it to open the first time. I clicked File->Open to open the project. Previously I had selected File->Recent Projects - not sure if that makes and difference. But after this process it did open the project and compile it just fine. This is miserable. If this had happened when I went on site to a customer I would have lost hours of work doing the reinstall. Is there a different and quicker fix?

Post by faceplant on CmpDynamicText unresolved references CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello! I am new to codesys so I am sorry if this is not the right place to ask this question. I am using codesys V3.5 SP20 Patch 1 + (64-bit) and a Groov EPIC PLC (GRV-EPIC-PR2). I am trying to build and deploy my application to the PLC, but when I log in I get 6 errors (codesys_error.png). It seems that the errors have to do with the CmpDynamicText system library which I have as version 3.5.20.0. I have tried to add CmpDynamicText to the ComponentManager section in the PLC's CODESYSControl.cfg file as described in this forum post and still hit the same error. I noticed that the library is grayed out in the library manager, which I think might be the issue. However I don't remember if it was grayed out before I encountered this issue. Please let me know if I can provide anymore info. Thank you!!!

Post by sturmghost on Mimic behavior of the visualization button element with a custom button CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Im wondering how Codesys is doing the mouse event capturing with their visualization button element? If you add such a button without configuring any input configuration event (like OnMouseDown) or button state variable and then click on the button, the button changes to the visual pressed state and back if you release the button (so they must react to an OnMouseDown event). But how? If I try to mimic this behavior with my custom button visualization element (like a basic rectangle) I need to use an input configuration event to change the color of the button (to make it look like the button was pressed on OnMouseDown event). When I try to add this button via a Frame-Element to my main visualization page I'm unable to use an input configuration event on the Frame-Element because the input configuration event on the button element won't be evaluated anymore (it seems like you can't stack input fields, e.g. invisible input elements, onto each other). Hence the button is not shown pressed anymore. How they do it?

hi there , can someone tell me how to deal with this error , please? I use the Linux ARM64SL (4.11) on a bullseye distro and when I want to update or install some package, I have the following reply : pi@NanoPi-R5C:~$ sudo apt upgrade Reading package lists... Done Building dependency tree... Done Reading state information... Done You might want to run 'apt --fix-broken install' to correct these. The following packages have unmet dependencies: ** codesyscontrol : Depends: codemeter but it is not installable or codemeter-lite but it is not installable** E: Unmet dependencies. Try 'apt --fix-broken install' with no packages (or specify a solution). and if I try apt --fix-broken install as suggested, I have a proposal to uninstall codesyscontrol ... :-D so I tried to search if there is some Codesys repo: nothing, then I tried to see if ther was something inside Codesys dev (V3.5.20) and I only found that by reading/requesting my device, i spoted that codemeter was too old . I don't see how to deal with this issue. is there a codemeter.deb somewhere ? thanks in advance for any help.

VAR CONSTANT arysEmptyArray:ARRAY[iArrayMinDimension..iArrayMAXDimension] OF STRING := [(iArrayMAXDimension - iArrayMinDimension)('')]; iArrayMinDimension:INT := 1; iArrayMAXDimension:INT := 99; END_VAR VAR_INPUT sDirectoryToInspect:STRING; sSearchFilter:STRING; END_VAR VAR_IN_OUT xCheckFileInsideDirectory:BOOL; END_VAR VAR arysListOfFoundFiles:ARRAY[iArrayMinDimension..iArrayMAXDimension] OF STRING; sNullString:STRING; iNullIndex:INT := 0; libInfoAboutThePath:DirInfo; libResultOfThePathMonitoring:CmpErrors.RTS_IEC_RESULT; libInstanceToMonitorThePath:CmpErrors.RTS_IEC_HANDLE; sEntityToSearch:STRING; dMaxEntityDimension:DINT := SIZEOF(sEntityToSearch); libFileInfo:DirInfo; sFilteredFileName:STRING; iIndexToScrollArrays:INT; END_VAR IF xCheckFileInsideDirectory THEN arysListOfFoundFiles:=arysEmptyArray; iIndexToScrollArrays:=iArrayMinDimension; libInstanceToMonitorThePath:= SysDirOpen(szDir:= sDirectoryToInspect,szDirEntry:=sNullString,diMaxDirEntry:= iNullIndex,pDirInfo:= ADR(libInfoAboutThePath),pResult:= ADR(libResultOfThePathMonitoring)); WHILE libResultOfThePathMonitoring = Errors.ERR_OK AND iIndexToScrollArrays <= iArrayMAXDimension DO sEntityToSearch:= ''; libResultOfThePathMonitoring:=SysDirRead(hDir:=libInstanceToMonitorThePath,szDirEntry:=sEntityToSearch,diMaxDirEntry:=dMaxEntityDimension,pDirInfo:=ADR(libFileInfo)); sFilteredFileName:= FUN_06_00_FindItemInString_0(sFilter:=sSearchFilter,sSource:=sEntityToSearch); IF sFilteredFileName <> '' THEN arysListOfFoundFiles[iIndexToScrollArrays]:=sFilteredFileName; iIndexToScrollArrays:=iIndexToScrollArrays + 1; END_IF IF libResultOfThePathMonitoring <> Errors.ERR_OK THEN libResultOfThePathMonitoring:= Errors.ERR_OK; END_IF END_WHILE libResultOfThePathMonitoring:=SysDirClose(hDir:= libInstanceToMonitorThePath); xCheckFileInsideDirectory:=FALSE; END_IF How is possible to solve this issue? Any known work around?

Post by mubeta on Some 'pathetic' errors in SoftMotion program CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello everyone, I have a very simple program for the process, but it's driving me crazy and I can't see the problems I'm left with: Short topological description: Dual Core Berghof controller with softmotion runtime version 3.5.19.30; Two axes with servodrive on canopen bus, clocked distributed from master; Ethercat I/O node; 2 ms ethercat task, 2 ms canopen bus cycle time; I/O objects of the canopen master and canopen drives connected to the ethercat task cycle; Problem 1: Two separate programs each manage their own axis and drive, with separate state machines. A first axis moves primarily in velocity, except having to position itself absolutely at a predetermined point at the end of the job; the second axis, on the other hand, is a paper unwinder that changes, for each job cycle, from actions in absolute, relative, and cam displacement with the master axis. Well, the state machine of both axes was written in such a way as to call running the useful FB and change it on state change in this way: CASE i_stateMachine OF 0: o_Power(Enable := TRUE, bRegulatorOn := FALSE, bDriveStart := FALSE, Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); o_MoveAbs(Execute := FALSE, Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); o_MoveRel(Execute := FALSE, Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); o_CamSelect(Execute := FALSE, Master := o_MachineAxis, Slave := o_PaperUnwinderAxis, CamTable := cam_PaperUnwinder); o_CamIn(Execute := FALSE, Master := MachineEncoder, Slave := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); o_CamOut(Execute := FALSE, Slave := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); o_SetPosition(Execute := FALSE, Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); IF ... THEN i_StateMachine := 10; END_IF; 10: o_Power( Enable := TRUE, bRegulatorOn := TRUE, bDriveStart := TRUE, Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis ); IF o_Power.Status THEN i_StateMachine := 20; END_IF; 20: (* Avanzamento carta *) o_MoveAbs( Execute := TRUE, Position := o_Somewhere, Velocity := 25.0, Acceleration := 3666.7, Deceleration := 3666.7, Jerk := 48000.0, Direction := MC_DIRECTION.positive, Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis ); IF o_MoveAbs.Done THEN o_MoveAbs(Execute := FALSE, Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); i_StateMachine := 30; END_IF 30: d_HomingPosition := ...; o_SetPosition( Execute := TRUE, Position := d_HomingPosition, Mode := FALSE, Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis ); (* ... *) IF o_SetPosition.Done = TRUE THEN o_SetPosition(Execute := FALSE, Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis ); o_LogServer.Append(sMessage := '...', lscClass := LOGSERVER_CLASS.ALWAYS, sdt := o_CommonsMgrData.systime.sdtLocal); i_StateMachine := 40; END_IF; 50: ... The code above is a sketchy example of what I wanted to write. But it gives me a spot problem: in some, the state change results in a drive error, which is unrecoverable except with a reinitialization via SM3_ReinitDrive(). Things are improved a little if in the program I always run the call of all softmotion blocks in this way: o_Power(Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); o_Jog(Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); o_Halt(Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); o_MoveAbs(Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); o_MoveRel(Axis := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); o_CamIn(Master := MachineEncoder, Slave := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); o_CamOut(Slave := o_PaperUnwinderAxis); If I don't execute all the calls of all the motion FBs used, when exchanging machine state often (but not always), the axis goes into error with event id THE_FB_WASNT_CALL... Done a little diagnostics it seems that the FBs return the bDone, before they are completely terminated. I tried doing the machine state exchange not with the bDone bit of the FBs, but with the 'standstill' state of the axis. It didn't seem to change anything. Problem 2: During the use SM3_ReinitDrive() I get the erro in the log: "NetID 0: SDO read error for object 16#607C..." Assuming that the device involved it's one of the two servodrive, (no others device are present in the network), I don't found any object 0x607C in the 'possible object list in/out' of the two drive, and I don't understand where this object can be listed. So any ideas and suggestions regarding these two issues will be very, very welcome. If you need the source project, I am willing to send it.

Post by paulg on RasPi CAA Serial example - unexpected behavior during debug CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I've trimmed down the CAA Serial Codesys example to only listen on one port but, when stepping through the Case structure in debug mode, it jumps out of the structure during a specific point in every scan (I'll point it out below after describing the setup and listing the code). I'm using a Pi 4 Model B, and I have an Arduino Nano Every plugged in via USB which is streaming the following serial message at 1 Hz: Time since opening connection: 1 s Time since opening connection: 2 s ...and so on. The Pi shows the Nano at /dev/ttyACM0 so I edited CODESYSControl_User.cfg to read: Linux.Devicefile=/dev/ttyACM The code in my PLC_PRG is (ignore some of the comments, I hadn't deleted them out from the original example): PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR xStartTest : BOOL:= TRUE; iState : INT; xTestDone : BOOL;(* True, when the test was done succesfully *) (* Settings to communicate with the COM Port *) aCom1Params : ARRAY [1..7] OF COM.PARAMETER; como1 : COM.Open; comc1 : COM.Close; comw1 : COM.Write; comr1 : COM.Read; //sWrite : STRING := 'Test String!'; sRead : STRING(25); szRead : CAA.SIZE; xCom1OpenError : BOOL; xCom1CloseError : BOOL; xCom1WriteError : BOOL; xCom1ReadError : BOOL; END_VAR //This example shows the communication of two COM Ports with each other. //The first one writes a string of characters, which is read by the second one. //After successful execution, the two COM Ports are closed and the test is done. IF xStartTest THEN CASE iState OF 0: //The parameters are set for the COM Port aCom1Params[1].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiPort; aCom1Params[1].udiValue := 1; // the correct Port should be adapted aCom1Params[2].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiBaudrate; aCom1Params[2].udiValue := 115200; aCom1Params[3].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiParity; aCom1Params[3].udiValue := INT_TO_UDINT(COM.PARITY.NONE); aCom1Params[4].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiStopBits; aCom1Params[4].udiValue := INT_TO_UDINT(COM.STOPBIT.ONESTOPBIT); aCom1Params[5].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiTimeout; aCom1Params[5].udiValue := 0; aCom1Params[6].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiByteSize; aCom1Params[6].udiValue := 8; aCom1Params[7].udiParameterId := COM.CAA_Parameter_Constants.udiBinary; aCom1Params[7].udiValue := 0; //The first Port is opened with the given parameters como1(xExecute := TRUE, usiListLength:=SIZEOF(aCom1Params)/SIZEOF(COM.PARAMETER),pParameterList:= ADR(aCom1Params)); IF como1.xError THEN xCom1OpenError := TRUE; iState := 1000; END_IF //After a successful opening, the next state is reached IF como1.xDone THEN iState := 15; END_IF 15: // the reading process is started comr1(xExecute := TRUE,hCom:= como1.hCom, pBuffer:= ADR(sRead), szBuffer:= SIZEOF(sRead)); IF comr1.xError THEN xCom1ReadError := TRUE; END_IF //After completion the size of the written bytes are saved IF comr1.xDone OR comr1.xError THEN szRead := comr1.szSize; iState := 20; END_IF 20: // If everything was successful the ports are closed and the handles are released comc1(xExecute := TRUE,hCom:= como1.hCom); IF comc1.xError THEN xCom1CloseError := TRUE; END_IF IF comc1.xDone OR comc1.xError THEN iState := 25; END_IF 25: // The first port is closed and the used handle released xTestDone := TRUE; xStartTest := FALSE; iState := 0; como1(xExecute := FALSE); comw1(xExecute := FALSE); comc1(xExecute := FALSE); ELSE iState := 0; END_CASE END_IF I realize as I write this that the .udiPort should be 0 and not 1, but that shouldn't be causing the issue I'm seeing. I'm forcing xStartTest:=TRUE every scan so that I can step into each line and observe what's happening. What I see is that the port parameters are set and the port is opened with no errors, but the code jumps out of the case structure to the last line every time it reaches (and I step into) the iState:=15 line (at the end of the iState:=0 block). So every scan cycle it goes through the block for iState=0 and jumps out at the same spot. I'm a little new to PLC programming so I may be misunderstanding the flow, but shouldn't this case structure keep moving down in the same scan? If it only handles one case per scan, why doesn't the value of iState persist? Thanks! Update: I restarted the Codesys control today and I was then able to see an error for como1.eError of "WRONG_PARAMETER". I tried doing some digging and another post made me think I should add another line to CODESYSControl_User.cfg, so I now have: [SysCom] Linux.Devicefile=/dev/ttyACM portnum := COM.SysCom.SYS_COMPORT1 So now when I set .udiPort to 1, I get "NO_ERROR" but I also don't read anything from the port (i.e. szRead = 0 always). If I try setting the port to 0 (which I'm confused about, because I added a COMPORT1 line but the device shows on the Pi as ACM0), I get the "WRONG_PARAMETER" error again. Is there an easier way to troubleshoot the Pi and view what ports the Codesys runtime is actually able to see while the Pi is running?
