max. string length in Codesys is 255 chars. It's not possible to cram 20,000 things in a string. If you need to send the data to another device, send the whole data[] array (as byte array, without doing anything to it) and extract the information on the other end. As each struct member has a fixed size (81 bytes, as per you declaration), this will be easy. To save some resources, consider declaring string lengths - e.g. if the max possible length for key is 10 chars, declare it key: STRING(10); and it will occupy 11 bytes instead of 81

Hi! What are the best practices for querying multiple Modbus devices? Single PRG or maybe multiple PRG (so basically multiple thread) per each Modbus device. In my current implementation I'm using single PRG and I'm utilizing FbMbMasterMultiQuerySerial and WagoAppPlcModbus.FbDigitalTwinMbSlaveDevice in eCockpit with PFC200. I've the timer with 2 seconds delay there and it was working fine for single device. But now I have three Modbus devices and for two of them I need to run 2/3 queries to get data from all registers. I noticed that the delays for getting the data from the Modbus devices is much bigger right now.

I came up with an FBD that seems to be working, although it may not be a true Retriggerable Pulse timer. There may be some delay associated with the two MOVE functions and ADD function I incorporated. I'd be interested if anyone is able to come up with something cleaner. I am surprised that this is not a built-in function block of the CodeSYS library. This is a common feature of multi-function timer relays. I also attached a page from the cut sheet of a Schneider relay that shows 10 timing functions. Looks like the CodeSYS library has built-in function blocks for only 3 of the 10.

I recognized that I have to start the two services "/etc/init.d/codemeter" and "/etc/init.d/codemeter-webadmin" in the docker container as well. If I do so, then the command "cmu -x" returns root@sensoredge-field-netfield-produktmanagment:/# cmu -x cmu - CodeMeter Universal Support Tool. Version 7.60c of 2023-Aug-09 (Build 5625) for Linux/ARMHF 64-Bit Copyright (C) 2007-2023 by WIBU-SYSTEMS AG. All rights reserved. So this time there is no indication any more that "Codemeter is not running". But still we are getting the error when using the license manager in CODESYS development system.

Hello everyone, I just installed Codesys SP19 Patch 4 on Windows 11 and every time I open Codesys I get an error that says (Attached image): 'One or more issues ocurred with the current versio profile. Please contact the vendor to resolve these problems. The plug-in {....} (Exactly 4.15.0.0) is required by the current version profile., but has not been installed. It is highly recommended that the tools is terminated. Do you wanto to terminate now?' I cannot install any package since I get this error everytime I open or try to install any package. Can someone help me please, thanks in advanced

I cannot use the package installer to search for these packages. I did not find them in Codesys Store with another computer. Do you know where to find and download them? Hey guys, I am trying to write a JSON. First time after login in PLC after download everthing works. But when I want to change values during runtime and try to recreate the JSON nothing happens. When forcing the xStart as an impulse i want to recreate it and see 2 as Key3 instead of 1 from the first run. Any Idea how to make this work? Im looking for a way to define predefined version of the same structures through "extends"/inheritance. What I want to do is best shown with an example: TYPE log_item_val_type : ( BOOL_ := 0, INT_, REAL_, STRING_ ); END_TYPE TYPE LOG_DATA_BASE STRUCT val_type : log_item_val_type; (* value, name etc *) ENDSTRUCT ENDTYPE (* this/below is not possible as I understand from the compiler?? *) TYPE LOG_DATA_BOOL extends LOG_DATA_BASE : STRUCT val_type : log_item_val_type := log_item_val_type.BOOL_; END_STRUCT END_TYPE TYPE LOG_DATA_INT extends LOG_DATA_BASE : STRUCT val_type : log_item_val_type := log_item_val_type.INT_; END_STRUCT END_TYPE etc. for LOG_DATA_REAL and ..STRING. The system will not allow me to "re-define" "val_type" however. Instead I must do the work-around of defining four different types with all fields individually defined. The benefit if I could extend the base item would be that Im (more) sure the structures are identical. In usage I can call in a specific type rather use the base type and assign which type. Usage by pointer/ref to log_data_base would also be easier.. (* Usage: *) log_data : log_data_int := (name, value etc.) (* Instead of: *) log_data : log_data_base := (name, value, val_type).. Is this possible to achieve in some way that I have missed?

most important information are missing: Which CODESYS Version? Which runtime version? Which plc type (manufacturere).. Not all plc manufacturer already support application based licenses. From your pictures I see you have activated 4 axis Motion (which is an applications based license type) does only work on plc's which do support this.

I have a WebVisu page which is re-used for multiple types of gas; it displays the alarm thresholds etc. for one gas at a time. I have an array of structures holding the set-points for each of the gasses. I'm trying to change the dialog title for the value input pop-up (VisuDialogs.Numpad). The Dialogtitle is set to Gas_Alarms.HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog, which is a string(50): When the gas type is changed (page first loaded, or prev/next buttons), METHOD Gas_Alarms.Update_Display_Variables is called, to update the strings used for the dialog titles so it shows GasName High Alarm Activation Level (EngineeringUnits), e.g. CO2 High Alarm Activation Level (PPM): HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog := Insert(' High Alarm Activation Level ()', EngineeringUnits, 30); HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog := Insert(HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog, GasName, 0); (That's not where the problem is, I'm just explaining why I'm using a variable dialogue title.) The variables used are definitely strings, but i'm always getting the error: "The type of the dialog title must be either STRING or WSTRING". I've tried moving HighAlarmActivationLevelDialog etc. to the GVL and also changing them to WSTRING, I even tried adding them to the structure array, but I always get the same error. Clearing the dialog title for that element removes the error - so I'm confident it's not a phantom error caused by something else. But I should be able to add these titles, can't just nuke them all to make it work. The MinVal and MaxVal for the Numpad are called from the array, e.g. GVL.Gas_Alarm_Configs[0].ScaledValueMIN, they are not getting an error. I am using array indexes 1 - 5 for the gasses, when I load the form or change gas, I copy the selected index to index 0 of the array, and values from Gas_Alarm_Configs[0].[ALL] are displayed on the page. When they hit save, I copy Gas_Alarm_Configs[0].[ALL] to Gas_Alarm_Configs[CurrentGasIndex].[ALL]. (ALL just means every element, I can't figure out how to display an asterix in this question... :) ) I've searched online for variable title dialog, but not found anything to help. Hello everyone, I am testing the ModbusFB library tcp server and so far I am able to create holding registers successfully, however, I am trying to identify after each write which registers got updated (i.e. function code, write value). I can even see the var udiNumWriteRequests, which increases with every write. I noticed that there is logging with the LogStatusInfo method. After I call it I am able to read in the console stuff that I want. Nevertheless, this is only available at the logs and is not easy to decode because it consists on several messages, I would like to know if there is a way for me to retrieve this information from the function itself with pointers or if there is any way to copy the logs messages (assuming that I can filter them with the LoggingOptions to only show what I need) inside the runtime code and not in the console. Hi Just new to motion and i am building my own 3axis cnc cutter using servo drives. i have every thing working quite well apart from mc_home. when executed (r_trig) it stops immediately and i get fb_wasnt_called_during_motion. if i execute the mc_home fb with a toggle it just runs and runs for a while then errors out. what im unsure of is the way mc_home works. from what i understand it changes the drive mode to 6 (homing) and should then run of the drive homing settings. once origin sensor is made then homing would stop and mc_home.done is true. and the position on the fb is where i what the new home position (zero) to be? or do i feed mc_readposition to that input? so i would think its the settings in the drive that aren't quite right. but i believe they are all correct. has any one got any info to steer me in the right direction? Sorry for the question, but I'm not completely getting the idea here, could you be more specific, maybe give an example? I'm now in a state where I don't have a softcontainer on my license server anymore (even after reinstalling from the Codesys-IDE). I tried reaching the webserver of Codemeter but when I do that I get redirected to http://"IP":22352 This is not reachable, afterwards I installed lynx on my Debian machine (command line only). From here I could reach the webserver and toggle the network server setting, but unfortunately this did not help. I also tried to changed the remote read setting to 1 (in the Server.ini file). But after a Codemeter reboot this is overwritten to 0. I have the feeling that it should be much easier to get a license to work, am I missing some checkbox somewhere? Is there a tutorial (or manual) that explains the licensing sequence step by step, because I'm pretty stuck.

I've recently started experimenting with CODESYS for a project and am fairly new to it. I'm currently working with Function Block Diagrams (FBD) to set up TCP communication between a server and a client, where the client is implemented as a Python script. Once the communication is established, my connection status changes to True, which is the expected behavior. My challenge arises with the TCP write module, which requires the xEnable_write flag to toggle between True and False. If xEnable_write remains True, the module only performs a single write operation. To address this, I introduced a falling edge trigger (F_TRIG), expecting it to help in toggling xEnable_write and it does, However, I've encountered an issue where in the beginning after connxion established I need to manually set xEnable_write to True for the system to work as intended. I'm looking for a way to automate this process so that xEnable_write becomes True automatically upon establishing a connection . Initially, I tried setting xEnable_write to True from the start, but this approach didn't work well since it left the flag permanently True, preventing further toggling. I also experimented with using a TON timer, but I faced similar issues. I am seeking a solution that automatically toggles xEnable_write between True and False after a connection is established, ensuring continuous write operations without manual intervention. Any advice or guidance on how to achieve this would be greatly appreciated."

Hello everyone, I have a working SPI connection (with transferExt) between a Raspberry master with Codesys and an ESP32 slave. I would also like to use a few GPIO pins. Is there a problem with using SPI AND GPIOs? Environment: Raspberry Pi 4+ with Raspian from Oct 23 Codesys V3.4 SP19 Patch 5 with Runtime Version 4.10.0.0 Device: GPIOs B+/Pi2 My problem: The status is displayed as “GPIOs : not running”. And also during mapping the message “The bus is not running. The values shown are perhaps not actual”. However, the variable changes that I make in my program are displayed under “Current Value”. In the Logic Analyzer, the pin toggles during transmission with small intervals of +-4us (seems to be a cyclical disorder, but I don't know where exactly it could be coming from). This applies to pins that I actually use (output) but also to the other GPIOs (not used). With GPIO 4, the line remains permanently high. Attached is a screenshot from the Logic Analyzer. Channel 1,3,5 were GPIO pin 26, 22, 17 Would be very grateful for help. Best regards

Hello, I have a robot configured as a Generic Ethernet Module under Ethernet/IP Scanner. I can not see the change of state of the outputs coming from the robot on the codesys side in real-time. (The robot has it's own internal program that would changes the values of remote outputs 0-3 off and on). Also when I send data down to the inputs of the robot it doesn't transfer over as expected. As an example I'll send to the robot's input bit 0 a value of 1. It doesn't see that value change. However, when I write that input bit 0 back to a value of 0, the robot changes state and shows a value of 1. And if I change the state of a different bit, the other bits update properly, except for the bit that I changed. Any advice would be greatly appreciated, and if anything else is needed let me know.

Now I should start interfacing the runtime to the actual hardware; I should be able to interact with 2 RS485 serial ports, a few GPIOs and an I2C port, all of which already have the corresponding /dev/ interface in the Linux system. I am having trouble understanding how it should be approached. I have found sporadic references that fail to lead to a really comprehensive documentation. For example: The store page (https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-control-for-linux-arm-sl-1.html#options) mentions a "runtime package" that should allow "Integration of existing C code" and "Usage of local I/Os", which seems exactly what I need to interact with custom peripherals. I have found no further reference to Codesys-C interpop. The Codesys Help page for the runtime package has a page on the "Development of Drivers" (https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Control/rtsllinuxrbpdriverdevelopment.html) that suggests to either "Implement a function block" or "Implement I/O drivers". Those in turn lead to this page (https://forge.codesys.com/drv/io-drivers/doc/Generic/) which describes briefly an XML schema to describe new devices; unfortunately, it doesn't mention what to do with such a description (i.e. how does the runtime know about it) or how it is in any way connected to the actual hardware. Could anyone give me some pointers? I should also mention I have no prior experience with Codesys, so maybe I'm missing an obvious answer.

Hi all, I’m currently trying to improve my OOP structure in CODESYS and I’m looking for some input on how others approach this. I understand the basics like inheritance, interfaces, abstract FBs, methods, and properties, but I still struggle a bit with the overall architecture and what’s considered clean or scalable in bigger projects. As an example, I’m working on two different energy meter function blocks: FB_EnergyMeter_MQTT reads data from MQTT (strings) FB_EnergyMeter_Modbus reads data from Modbus (words) Both have their own Update() method and implement the same interface (something like IF_EnergyMeter). Later on, I’ll probably add more meter types, but they should all behave the same from the controller’s point of view. Now, there’s a FB_GridControl block that needs power data from these meters. I see two options here: Define the meter blocks inside FB_GridControl and call them directly (for example fbModbusMeter.UpdateModbus()). Keep the meter blocks outside and pass them into FB_GridControl as interface references, so the control block doesn’t know which specific type of meter it’s dealing with. Option 2 feels cleaner and more flexible to me, but I’m not entirely sure how to handle the data flow in that case. Should I pass the meter instance through an interface reference (REFERENCE TO IF_EnergyMeter)? Or is there a better way to link the external FBs to the control block? I’d like to hear how you structure this kind of setup or see an example from someone who has done something similar. If I append something inside FB_Init after constructing the hashtable, it crashes, even though the list was already created. If I only create the hashtable in FB_Init and append afterwards, it usually works.
