Hello all, First post. I recently acquired an RPI zero W from amazon, and have been using it with Codesys v3.5 SP19 patch 2. I first got it working yesterday, and after installing the runtime on the Pi, I was prompted to install the edge gateway. Installation of the edge gateway failed because of unsupported architecture, undeterred I was able to connect to the pi and program as I wanted. The issue I've noticed is that if I do not load anything to the pi overnight, I can then no longer connect to the pi and download, although I can still ping it from my pc. I found that if I power cycle the PI, I am then able to connect again, and it works as normal. I did some googling and found instances where people recommended downloading the newest edge gateway, which brings me here. Wondering if there are any suggestions, or if this is a known issue. I actually tried installing all 3 versions of edge gateway for science, but all fail with the same message. Thanks -Dan

I'm looking for a smart and short way to implement initialization of visualization variables depending on the visualization input. For an easy example consider a rectangle which rests at XPos := 0 when the input state is false and at XPos := 50 when the input state is true. My visualization variables look like this: VAR_IN_OUT State : BOOL; END_VAR VAR XPos : INT; END_VAR I put this rectangle via a visualization frame element into another visualization and link a frame reference variable with the state to it. If the variable is true, the rectangle should rest at XPos := 50 and false at XPos := 0 at visualization init but how should I assign the 50 or 0 to the internal visualization variable XPos? I would need some init-methode for the visualization but I dont want a global init-method for such tasks. I want to do it inside of the visualization element but I can't see any solution for this? It would be good to be able to define ST-code within the visualization element which runs cyclic at each VISU_TASK task-cycle then I could just check the input state and change the XPos accordingly. Does someone have a solution?

I have been trying out Unconnected_Send Explicit Message with route path.(The Unconnected_Send service shall use the Connection Manager object in each router to forward the message and to remember the return path. Vol 1.3 / 3-5.6.7) However, I could not see the correct path on Wireshark. I want to see the Unconnected_Send Message Service Code as 0x52 and also the last of the message should have the route path. I want to ask some questions about this topic. The IIoDrvEIPAcylicServices Interface has the IoDrvSendUnconnectedMessage Method. And there is a struct (EIP_SendUnconnectedMessage) for this service. But there is no information about how to implement to project, and if it is successful, does it send a message with 0x52 Unconnected_Send Service Code or not? If that is not a solution, how can I set the Unconnected_Send Explicit Message struct on Codesys? Also how can I send explicit message with route path?

Hello codesys forum, My company is looking at developing a solution with Codesys ARM SL. The requirements will not tax the capabilities of Codesys. I would like to buy an AMR 7 or 8 Dev Board for experimenting. I am looking for a recommendation as I have minimal experience with Linux. Any input from the forum would be most appreciated as the hardware requirements as provided by Codesys for ARM SL seem pretty minimal (basically a arm7 or 8 with Debian is all). Our needs are small in scale- something like 8 digital inputs, 6 digital outputs, 2 analog inputs and 1 analog output. A small gui will be published via web visualization for external display (no local display). Communications with ModbusTCP and uart/RS485. It may be necessary to access i2c and make c or python calls to some existing code that is pretty small. Something like the EMCraft STM32MP1 SOM Starter Kit or Octavo Systems OSD32MP1-RED development board? Ideally something that has a path to a SoM for production. Kontron appears to have some interesting options too. Just having a hard time deciding where to start. Thanks in advance... LC

Hello, This is my first time using Codesys, I am trying to add EtherNetIP communication to a Raspberry PI. I’ve added the EtherNetIP Adapter configured the network setting and added some modules to the pi but when I download the project it generates the following error: “There is no source code available for the object because it is in the compiled library ‘cip object, 4.5.1.0 (3s – smart software solution gmbh)’. Do you want to browse for the original library in order to display the source code? There are 2 errors in the log which are: SOURCEPOSITION App=[Application] area=3, offset=332760 EXCEPTION [Application] occurred: App=[Application], Task=[ENIPAdapterServiceTask] I can’t for the life of me work out how to get around this. I can’t find the source code anywhere or any information regarding this error. I’m using Codesys V3.5 SP19 Patch 3, the version of the Ethernet adapter is 4.5.1.0 and the version of the modules is 4.1.0.0. Any help on this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks

Hi, We are currently using a Raspberry Pi 4 CM4 module in a EdgeBox RPI 200 - Industrial Edge Controller running the latest CODESYS Runtime Package 4.11.0.0. On the PC (actually an Intel Macbook Pro running Windows 10 in Parallels) we run CODESYS V3.5.19.50. Yesterday end of day when I was about to logoff and head home, I wanted to send the latest build to the Raspberry I clicked the Login button to compile a new version and then sync the application and all the files, it get's stuck on the last file to sync (see attached screenshot). This takes eternally, although sometimes, when I use my SFTP client (Cyberduck) and go into the raspberry and refresh the directory /var/opt/codesys/PlcLogic/visu/, or when I open the actual file visuelemsdatetime.tl_datetime.txt, it gets un-stuck (forcing a refresh, which might fix the syncing issue) and CODESYS continues and I can click the Start button to start the application. But this SFTP force refresh trick does not always help either... What could be the issue here? network connectivity? Can someone please help me out?

What we are trying to explain is that, yes CODESYS creates the software, but Epis decides how they implement it on their hardware, which runtime version they use and they decide which functionality they support. So it is always a combination of the two. What CODESYS provides is a runtime with options for e.g. visualization or softmotion. Epis could add this softmotion license as default to their controller, but if they don't then CODESYS provides another option with a single license in a "Wibu CodeMeter" container. Eventhough the feature exists, Epis has to add this "CodeMeter" software on their controller to be able to access the licenses in the container. We don't know if they did this. Then finally it depends on what type of runtime is on this controller and which license Epis is using. So if they have an OEM license (not an application based license), then most likely you will need the Softmotion license (not a number of axis). See https://store.codesys.com/en/codesys-softmotion-sl-bundle.html. But to be sure if this is supported by the Epis controller, you must ask Epis.

Hey guys, I am trying to write a JSON. First time after login in PLC after download everthing works. But when I want to change values during runtime and try to recreate the JSON nothing happens. When forcing the xStart as an impulse i want to recreate it and see 2 as Key3 instead of 1 from the first run. Any Idea how to make this work? The hole setup is made by 3s. So its a comination of one not two. If Epis decide not to support extra licence whats then the funtion of providing an option with a single license ?? So the idee by 3s has a flod. Epis change the system to add the Stick. I send controller inc stick to Epis. On my software i can see the stick. An then you tel me i need a other license to use an license ?? Makes completly no sense. Codesys should be flexible but is not. I tried Delta. But has no HMI and has its own Codesys ?? Why ?? Then i tried Crist. The block there own system by a password. But dont know the password and cant switch it off. At the end the want me to pay for support to solve ther own made problem. So i send it al back. The extra license is adviced by 3s . Now a few month later still no working solution.

Hello everyone, I hope you can help me with my problem. I am new to programming and am currently working with a WAGO controller in our lab, which controls a heat pump. My goal is to send the electrical power of the heat pump (Pel_WP) via a UDP connection to a specific IP address. I am using Codesys version 2.3 and following the guide I found here: https://forge.codesys.com/forum/de/396/genmed-Konfiguration%20der%20UDP%20Kommunikation%20Cosesys%20S7.pdf. I have adapted the guide to suit my needs. The data sending works since I can force the reception value Pel_WP and the data is sent accordingly. However, I am having trouble with the receiving part. The reception value is not being correctly received, and the diSocket variable shows -1. The connection between the heat pump and the WAGO controller seems to be set up correctly, as the heat pump is listed under the communication parameters with the correct IP address. I have also attached images to provide a better view of the setup. I would greatly appreciate any support or suggestions for a solution. Thank you in advance!

I am running a runtime environment on an ARM A35 dual-core processor (1.5GHz) and have encountered some issues. The CPU load (both CPU0 and CPU1) occasionally spikes above 50% before returning to normal, and this happens around 2-3 times per minute. At the same time, I’ve noticed that the Max Cycle Time in the Codesys monitoring screen shows much worse performance compared to the A53 (1.2GHz), with nearly double the cycle time. The optimizations I have made so far are as follows: Set the CPU to performance mode. Isolated CPUs: CPU0 is dedicated to running Linux services and the runtime itself, while CPU1 runs the EtherCAT task and the MainTask. Despite CPU1 only running these two tasks, the utilization still increases above 50%, which I find unreasonable. Additionally, I performed tests using cyclictest both without and with the runtime running. The performance is shown in the following image: From the results, I believe the CPU performance should be fine, but I am unsure why the monitoring results are not as expected. The testing outcomes should ideally be as close as possible to the cyclictest results. Does anyone have related solutions to this issue?

I have found a very interesting solution using: IoConfigTaskMap IoConfigConnectorMap IoConfigChannelMap The first is the list of IO tasks. The second is the connector for each IO module in the IOMap. The third is the individual input or output on the IOMap. One of the properties of the connector is another pointer to a connector, which corresponds with the connector of the EtherCAT slave. Through this information, it is possible to understand to which EtherCAT slave an IO connectormap corresponds. I am attaching an FB that allows for the construction of an IO map and finding the pointer to the actual IOs in the IOMap based on the bitoffset. Good day, I’m writing this message out of frustration regarding the current way project files are saved as encrypted XML and single-file format in CODESYS. I find this approach to be quite tedious for several reasons: Limited Access to Structured Text: Not being able to access Structured Text (ST) externally makes it impossible to work with alternative editors like VSCode. Tools like VSCode are incredibly responsive and feature advanced systems such as GitHub Copilot, which would be a real game-changer when working with ST IEC. While CODESYS works well for small code snippets or debugging, when the codebase grows, switching to VSCode to boost productivity becomes essential, and copy-pasting between environments is a cumbersome workaround. Poor Integration with Git: This file format also makes it very difficult to integrate effectively with Git. I have tested the internal demo, but for advanced merges, it is unusable. Without properly formatted plain text, it’s impossible to leverage the vast ecosystem of external tools around Git that allow smooth merges in heterogeneous teams. File Corruption on Network Drives: I often work from multiple locations with shared network drives. When the development environment saves a file and something goes wrong midway (which can occasionally happen when using VPNs and network drives), the entire project becomes irrecoverable. There’s no way to cancel the save process, and the development environment freezes. This has happened to me at least four times over the past two weeks, and one of those incidents cost me an entire day of work. All of this is particularly disappointing because I truly believe that the libraries, runtime, and overall work done by CODESYS are exceptional. I find it fantastic that there is a platform allowing development of PLCs and control systems using OOP, which is a huge advantage in modern control engineering. Die Datei "CODESYSControl.cfg" wurde dazu angepasst: .... Adapter.0.Name="Ethernet 4" Adapter.0.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 Die konfigurierte IP-Adresse wird zur Laufzeit an die tatsächliche IP-Adresse der Netzwerkschnittstelle mit dem folgenden Befehl angepasst (die Änderung von 192.168.2.33 auf 192.168.2.34 funktioniert auch): Ethernet.UpdateConfiguredIPSettings(IpAddress:=Ethernet.IPAddress, subnetmask:=Ethernet.Subnetmask, gateway:=Ethernet.GatewayAddress); Der Profinet-Controller geht danach auf Störung und gibt die folgende Fehlermeldung aus: "Controller-Status: currently active IP does not match the controller's configuration" Unter "Ethernet diagnostic information" kann man die geänderte IP-Adresse von 192.168.2.34. Ethernet läuft auch ohne Fehler. Unter "PROFINET IO Driver diagnostic information" -> "IPParameter" sieht man noch die alte (konfigurierte) IP-Adresse 192.168.2.33. Der Seriell-zu-USB-Konverter und die Kabel habe ich zusammen mit dem Motor und Treiber von StepperOnline gekauft und sie sind dafür gedacht, den Servotreiber mit einem Computer zu verbinden, auf dem deren Setup-Software läuft. dmesg | grep tty auf dem Pi sagt mir, dass der USB-zu-Seriell-Konverter auf ttyusb0 ist. Ich weiß nicht, wie man das in einen COM-Port übersetzt, ich habe COM 1 genommen. Ich habe ein Projekt in Codesys erstellt und ein Modbus_COM-Gerät hinzugefügt, einen Modbus_Master_COM_Port und einen Modbus_Slave_COM_Port angehängt. Auf der Registerkarte "Allgemein" des Modbus_COM habe ich die folgenden Werte eingestellt: Slave address 1 Baud rate 9600 Parity None Data bits 8 Stop bits 2 Ich habe den Servotreiber auf die gleichen Werte eingestellt. (Ich habe auch andere Werte getestet, aber mit dem gleichen Ergebnis). Auf der Registerkarte "Modbus Slave Channel" des Modbus_Slave_COM_Port habe ich einen Kanal hinzugefügt und die folgenden Werte eingetragen: Access type Read Holding Registers (Function Code 3) Read Register offset 0x0000 Length 1 Ich habe noch keinen Code geschrieben, weil ich noch nicht herausgefunden habe, wie man die Kommunikation programmiert. Wenn ich das Projekt zum Raspberry Pi herunterlade scheint der Modbus_Master_COM_Port zu laufen (grünes Symbol), aber der Modbus_Slave_COM_Port nicht (rotes Dreiecksymbol). Wenn ich einen anderen COM-Port eintrage, haben sowohl der Master als auch der Slave das rote Dreiecksymbol. Ich habe dies auch mit meinem Windows-PC unter Verwendung von Codesys Control Win 64 versucht und die gleichen Ergebnisse bekommen. Ich wäre dankbar für jede Hilfe oder Tipps, wie ich den Grund dafür herausfinden kann, warum der Servotreiberreiber nicht reagiert.
