Here, it seems to me that we are getting completely off track with the observed problem. If questions clarifying the details of the installation are problematic, it's best to include those details in the original question then... I had already written this elsewhere. The program before being brought into machines was exhaustively tested in SW emulation and the problem did not occur. Testing the full program in emulation is entirely different from creating a simplified program to isolate the function causing problems in the real world. I would recommend trying it to isolate the issue. The drive and motor have been working fine for about 10 years. In replacing the machine control system, I opted for CoDeSys where before there was something else. But this is not the subject of the problem A simple "yes" is the correct answer to my question here... Anyways, you seem to be a very knowledgeable expert, good luck on your problem!

Thank you for your advice Rinie, I have tried to follow this example but found one problem.When I disconnect with Hercules the system does not acknowledge the lost of its connection this could result in critical errors. Because of this error I am trying to implement the Syssocket library. With this library I am having a problem which I could not solve. Hello Everybody, I have created a project for an Eaton XC303 that sends lots of data to a router via UDP. It works fine. However, when there is more than one product connected to the router, then it is necessary to change the IP address of the Ethernet port 0, from e.g. 192.168.2.11 to 192.168.2.12 (second product). It is easily done via PLC Shell (setipaddr 0 192.168.2.12), but the people in production is struggling with the PLC Shell commands and I would like to create a Visualization page that will hide that. I used the instruction: eChangeIPResult:= SysSockSetIPAddress(strEthernetPort, strIPAddress); and it works, until the PLC resets. I already read some posts and it appears that I need to stop the Ethernet 0 port and Reconfigure it, but I am really struggling to find the right way to do it. Any help will be much appreciated.

Although I have set in /etc/codesyscontrol/CODESYSControl_User.cfg the [SysFile] PlaceholderFilePath.1=/media/pi, $usb$ PlaceholderFilePath.1.View=1 PlaceholderFilePath.1.Volatile=1 I am not able to copy a file to this directory defined by the placeholder. Neither SysProcess.SysProcessExecuteCommand2 nor SysFileCopy nor FileCopy is working. If I try to copy the same file to /home/pi all is working fine. I also can create and open a different file by using SysFileOpen. I don't understand why the system allows to open (create) and write files into that directory but doesn't allow to copy into it. Obviously there is a rights problem with the USB drive. I have already set the permissions to drwxr-xr-x 2 and the user to pi but without any success. With 3.5.16 I never had such an issue. Is there anybody with some hints how to solve that problem? Cheers, canplum

Hello everyone, I am trying to change dynamically by code the IP address of a Weidmuller controller. So I am basically using IoDrvEthernet library to use UpdateConfiguredIPSettings function but I am getting constantly the 'INVALID_STATE' error. Even though I am following a procedure it should work: * First I added on the config file of codesys the following: [SysSocket] Adapter.0.Name="eth0" Adapter.0.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 Adapter.1.Name="eth1" Adapter.1.EnableSetIpAndMask=1 * Secondly I am first disabling the ethernet interface by using Ethernet_0.Enable = FALSE and then executing DED.Reconfigure. Hey there, I am currently trying to find a good solution for the communication between CODESYS Control on Raspberry Pi and "the rest of the world", i. e. the things apart from CODESYS on my linux. My first approach was to use the c-integration. So I created a lib, defined extern fbs, compiled the code on my Pi using the SDK and put the .so into my lib project. When I try to log into the Pi and load the program, I get the error message which you can see in the attached picture. "Die dynamischen Module der C-Integration konnten nicht auf das Laufzeitsystem geladen werden" is german and means roughly "the modules from the c-integration could not be loaded onto the runtime system." Is this normal? Am I doing something wrong? I will have a look at the unix domain socket thing next, as I am still in the process of finding the best solution for the communication.

Hello all I am using an AxisGroup with the Gantry2 Kinematics to move a 2D-Gantry system. When creating the AxisGroup, the SoftMotion_PlanningTask is created automatically with a cycle time of 2 ms in my case. I realized that the maximum cycle time of this task can spike to very high values (up to 60 ms) at lower speeds of the motion, leading to synchronization issues and errors on the axes. The same behaviour - though not as drastic - can be observed with virtual axes too. Is this behaviour intended or to be expected? Can the cycle time or type of the SoftMotion_PlanningTask be changed to prevent these errors? Or is there another fix for this issue? I tried changing the cycle type to Freewheeling, which solved the synchronization issues, but caused an error on the AxisGroup after a while, reading SMC_CP_QUEUE_UNDERRUN. I have 2 Wago PFC200 PLC, running with Runtime SP19 Patch 5, with the Redundant application. The PLC communicates as Modbus Master with at this moment 15 Modbus Slaves -later there will be 28 in total- (Drives, Power management units,...). These devices are connected in 2 rings (1 ring of Drives, 1 ring of Power Management units), with 2 Managed Moxa Switches being part of the ring. Each PLC is connected to one of these switches. The issue I'm encountering is that the Cycle time of the Active PLC goes very high when I'm closing the Drive ring (simulating an issue on one Cabinet supply, resulting in that one Drive shut down, which can happen on field quite often). As a result of this long cycle, the PLC fails and goes to Exception, and the Passive PLC does not take control of the system. A normal cycle is around 30ms for the Main task, and a few ms for the Ethercat task. When I monitor with Profiler, I see that in this Maximum Cycle, the main Task is only taking 13ms, so I'm not sure where the PLC is hanging for so long. Is the remaining cycle time the Redundant management/sync or something else? Thank you in advance.

Hi, I am trying to create a log in my application. Since I cannot find any documentation regarding modifying the codesys configuration file to be able to log in ms, i tried to create a new log via CmpLog.LogCreate. Below is the part of the code where I create the logger and write a test string. In the log tab of codesys I actually see the new log that was created, but it is empty, and in the folder I cannot find any files. I can't find any detailed documentation. Can you guys give me support? Are there any examples? Hi everyone, I'm currently working on a project involving the control of 5 VFDs via Modbus RTU, this time using the WAGO 750-8212 CPU. So far, I've managed to make progress, but I've encountered an issue. While I can successfully read and write to all the registers I need, I consistently encounter a "Response CRC Fail" error when attempting to write the value 1151 to the STW register at address 40100. I'm able to set the frequency via register 40101 and adjust all other parameters using different registers. Setting STW to 1150 results in the drive ready boolean from the ZSW-bit being received instantly. However, the moment I attempt to send 1151 to register 40100, I immediately receive the "Response CRC Fail" error for all channels. I've also attempted to use combined control, employing Modbus for frequency control and starting from a digital input. Everything seems to function properly until I send the start command to the VFD. Interestingly, I consistently encounter the same error the moment I send the start command, regardless of whether I use register 40006 (high) or 40100 (1151). Could someone please assist me in resolving this issue?

I am trying to create an icon on an overview screen that depicts if an alarm group has active alarms, active acknowledged alarms, or inactive unacknowledged alarms (waiting for confirmation). I've attempted to set up Notification Actions in the Alarm Class to set variables based on state changes but have been unable to find a clean and effective way to do this. Because an action on any alarm will trigger the variable to be set as instructed, I'm struggling to find a way to configure it for what I need (ie if two alarms activate, then one deactivates, the variable for indicating an alarm is active would be cleared after the single deactivation). I've been pointed toward the Alarm Manager example project but I'm finding it too complicated to understand how to implement it in my own project. Has anyone come up with another good way to indicate the states of alarms or a simpler usage of the Alarm Manager functions?

Hello, I am currently testing redundancy using two UC20-M4000 controllers with CODESYS Control SL. The basic redundancy functionality (Active/Passive switching and failover) works, but I am experiencing problems when updating the application. Environment Controller: Weidmüller UC20-M4000 OS: u-OS Runtime: CODESYS Control SL 4.12.1.0-1 Redundancy link: dedicated Ethernet connection between the two controllers Time synchronization: NTP configured, time difference between controllers is about 1–2 seconds Current behavior Application synchronization When I download a modified application to PLC1 (Active controller), the application is not automatically copied to PLC2 (Passive controller). However, when I perform a path swap, the application download to PLC2 starts automatically. My expectation was that the Passive controller would automatically receive the updated application after downloading to the Active controller. Online change When performing an online change, redundancy is lost and the controllers switch to Standalone mode. Typical log messages include: RedundancySynchronize called Redundancy failover itself works correctly. The application boot project exists on both controllers (Application.app and Application.crc). Network interfaces are up and correctly configured. Question Is this behavior expected when updating the application in a redundant UC20-M4000 setup? Should the Passive PLC automatically receive the updated application, or is manual synchronization required? Any advice or recommended configuration for stable redundancy during online change and application download would be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Hello, In our workshop we have a Lenze i950 servo drive that has an EtherCAT bus and CiA402 compatibility. The WAGO is PFC200 750-8212 and as per documentation it has built-in license for SoftMotion Light functionality. It is not capable of supporting the full SoftMotion functionality like gearing and synchronizing. I added the EtherCAT esi files from Lenze and the EtherCAT master does see the drive, then I added a SoftMotion Light Axis object. The problem is that I can only energize the axis, I cannot execute any other commands. I set the positive and negative torque limits from the PDOs to 200% and when I try to move the axis by force it does not move back to its original position. I use the SML function blocks from the PLCOpen library and the error from the function blocks is that the op mode cannot be changed. Then I tried using a standard SoftMotion axis object and everything works fine, except the MC_Home function block. The axis moves back to its position when forced out of it. I follow this guide from Lenze - Lenze i950 CODESYS V3 What could cause this issue with the SoftMotion Light axis object? Best Regards Konstantin Kolev

Some new test. Now I cannot connect from Automation server to my gateway in any way also from my office setup with my unit directly connected to my router by dhcp. I can use the IDE and the tool "Connect Edge Gateway" and successfully connect to my server/link to my Automation server account. However no PLC will respond from Automation server "Network scan". I guess the traffic should be initiated by the gateway towards automation server? Any tips on how I can diagnose my problem? Ports to be opened etc? Thing is that this has been working previously but not now (base system has been updated from debian 12 to debian 13, but I dont know at which point it has stopped working). Setup as before. A "Codesys Control for Linux SL" running on a debian 13 installation. Any help/tips appreciated! Per Update. Found the error. Had a wrong gateway-setting. Which meant the PLC could not reach internet. Checked by "ping google.com" from the PLC.

So better using the code above and just set xShutdownTargetVisu to TRUE from the button. Works fine for me. To start the TargetVisu: From a cmd prompt. This will start the TargetVisu C:\Program Files\CODESYS\CODESYS Control RTE3>VisualClientController.exe --application=Application --flags=1 You can then place a .bat file on the desktop and put this inside: CD "C:\Program Files\CODESYS\CODESYS Control RTE3" VisualClientController.exe --application=Application --flags=1 exit Double clicking the .bat file will start the TargetVisu. You may need to replace the Application name by your own application name. Good to know: In the cmd above, if you replace --flags=1 by --flags=2, it will shutdown the TargetVisu.

Good day, I’m writing this message out of frustration regarding the current way project files are saved as encrypted XML and single-file format in CODESYS. I find this approach to be quite tedious for several reasons: Limited Access to Structured Text: Not being able to access Structured Text (ST) externally makes it impossible to work with alternative editors like VSCode. Tools like VSCode are incredibly responsive and feature advanced systems such as GitHub Copilot, which would be a real game-changer when working with ST IEC. While CODESYS works well for small code snippets or debugging, when the codebase grows, switching to VSCode to boost productivity becomes essential, and copy-pasting between environments is a cumbersome workaround. Poor Integration with Git: This file format also makes it very difficult to integrate effectively with Git. I have tested the internal demo, but for advanced merges, it is unusable. Without properly formatted plain text, it’s impossible to leverage the vast ecosystem of external tools around Git that allow smooth merges in heterogeneous teams. File Corruption on Network Drives: I often work from multiple locations with shared network drives. When the development environment saves a file and something goes wrong midway (which can occasionally happen when using VPNs and network drives), the entire project becomes irrecoverable. There’s no way to cancel the save process, and the development environment freezes. This has happened to me at least four times over the past two weeks, and one of those incidents cost me an entire day of work. All of this is particularly disappointing because I truly believe that the libraries, runtime, and overall work done by CODESYS are exceptional. I find it fantastic that there is a platform allowing development of PLCs and control systems using OOP, which is a huge advantage in modern control engineering. I apologize for the rant, but this issue has been extremely frustrating. Best regards.

Apparently codesys runs fine without User=root for almost everything... That raises the question: What IS the default codesys user ? I notice in the prototypes: VAR sCommand : STRING := '/usr/bin/whoami'; sOutput : STRING(255); refCommand : REFERENCE TO STRING; refOutput : REFERENCE TO STRING; resultCmd : UDINT; END_VAR whenever I attempt to build this Codesys v3.5 SP2 whines that "cannot convert type REFERENCE TO STRING to STRING" don't remember the exact message... Apparently this happens whenever a fixed-length string is involved. if I get rid of (255) and just set the string := ' '; that is sufficient to make the compiler happy. Is this a recently enforced constraint ? Why does this compile for you and not for me ? There are references to functions / utilities which are used/needed to massage the string references - but I see no specific details... I also notice you specify: Make sure the lib SysProcessImplementation, SysTypes, and CmpErrors is on the project. I don't comprehend why all of the dependent libraries are not automatically referenced, added ? I don't recall seeing anywhere but here that SysProcessImplementation must be included... It just seems odd that the default is to exclude essential libraries, or require alchemical conjuring to assemble all the ingredients for gnat soup ;-) Thanks a lot... Good morning, I'm new on Codesys Forge, so I'm not sure if this is the right place to talk about my problem. When I open my WebVisu pages with Microsoft Edge, or Chrome, the background and also some rectangles blinking without reason!!! The application is developed with Codesys 3.5.17.10 and run on Codesys HMI, same version (3.5.17.10). After several experiments I discover that the problem happens when I made dynamic the "End of area" property of a meter object, but I can't understand why this blinking problem happens. Also, the problem is only at the WebVisu page, the "normal" VISU pages (the ones opened when Codesys HMI start) work always perfectly. Another strange thing is that the problem happens only if on the same page, where there is the meter object, there is also a trend object!?!? Codesys HMI is running on a Virtual Machine (VMware Workstation 15 player, v.15.5.6) running Windows 10 Pro N 64-bit. The blinking problem happen also if I convert the project to Codesys 3.5.20.0. This version of Codesys and Codesys HMI are installed on a Virtual Machine running Windows Server 2019 Standard 64-bit. In attachment the archive of my project. The attached project has only one page, if "Enable Counter" is not pressed the "End of area" variable of the meter is not updated in the software, and everything work well, normal VISU and WebVisu; if "Enable Counter" is pressed, the "End of area" variable of the meter is updated in the software, and the WebVisu page start blinking. I tried also to enable the "Support client animations and overlay..." property at VisualizationManager, this seems stop the blinking problem, but that property also destroy my WebPage, moving almost all the graphical object, that also seem not working anymore. I really need help to understand what I'm doing wrong, I have to develop a bigger project and I have to understand if trend objects and animated meters cannot stay in the same page. In the final project the WebVisu will be very important because the customer will use this way to access the application to monitor the process. Regards

Hello all, I am trying to run a XY trajectory from a static G-Code file. Everything works except the smoothing/blending of the corners. My setup: Codesys v3.5sp18 Raspberry Pi 4 CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL, using demo license. Zero axes (only using the interpolator). Ich hatte noch einmal Zeit das mit der Lizenz zu probieren und habe dazu über den Codesys Installer das Virtual Control SL runtergeladen und ausprobiert, aber leider ohne Erfolg. Zunächst habe ich "Docker_codesyscontrol_virtuallinuxarm64_4.13.0.0_arm64.tar.gz" aufs Board geladen und das Image mit docker load geladen. Mit dem Befehl docker run --rm -dt --name codesys --network host -v /dev:/dev -v /tmp:/tmp -v /run/udev/:/run/udev/ --device-cgroup-rule='c 13: rmw' --privileged 470a708f17a2 hab ich dies dann ausgeführt, aber das Problem, dass ich das Board im Netzwerk dann nicht finden konnte. Damit ich die Verbindung herstellen konnte, habe ich die Datei "DockerRuntimeStart.sh" so verändert, dass ich den Teil: -p 11740:11740/tcp \ -p 443:443/tcp \ -p 8080:8080/tcp \ -p 4840:4840/tcp \ gegen --net host \ ersetzt habe. Das Skript habe ich dann aufs Board geladen und bash DockerRuntimeStart.sh -i codesyscontrolvirtuallinuxarm64:4.13.0.0 -c codesys -H verdin-imx8mp- ausgeführt. Nun konnte ich in Codesys wieder eine Verbindung zu dem Board aufbauen, aber der Dongle wird leider immer noch nicht im Lizenz-Manager erkannt. Wie kann ich denn prüfen, dass auf den USB-Stick vom Container aus zugegriffen werden kann?

Hi everyone. My question about: where I can learn (read or watch) an info about codesys workflow through the system IO libs? I want to know how to implement I/O drivers by my self. In the system libs I see many interfaces, methods etc... But there is no explanation about them, just names of methods and fields of the FBs. I know about this page: https://forge.codesys.com/drv/io-drivers/doc/Generic/ There is so BIG the device description file and not so clear explaining of the attributes and elements, also some elements or attributes missed at it all. Yes, there are code examples on this page, but, so shortly and, for example, code about Modbus drivers is absent. And even if I try to add the IoDrvFB with lib, I get and error, something like: "failed to load IoDrvFB driver". And what about the book of codesys that written by Gary Pratt? Is there information about system libs and drivers in this book more clearly? Thank you :)

Hallo, ich habe Probleme beim nachbauen des BacNet2 Tutorials "Erste Schritte" aus der CODESYS Online Help. https://content.helpme-codesys.com/de/CODESYS%20BACnet/_bacnet_first_steps.html Das Anlegen des BacNet2 Servers und der danach folgenden BacNet Datenpunkte erfolgt ohne Probleme. Der Code lässt sich mit F11 auch Fehlerfrei generieren. Beim Download auf die SPS tritt dann der Fehler auf dem Bild auf. Anbei auch ein Bild des Logs nach dem Download. CODESYS BACnet 2.0.0.0 ist über den Installer runtergeladen.
