Post by fedex03 on Read Global Variable from an IoT Device CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello everyone, I am new to the forum, and to programming with CodeSys. I am dealing with IoT device for industry and I should check if a device is able to read/write global variables in an EtherNet/IP Master. Since I do not have an EtherNet/IP PLC, I thought of using CodeSys as a softPLC. I created a program with a set of global variables (GVL) and a task that increments them. I would like to know if I need to enable any options so that the global variables can be read by IoT devices. My device supports Class 2 Class (Explicit Messaging Connection) communication. Thank you in advance for your help.

Post by kporter on High-resolution drive with SoftMotion CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I'm beta-testing a new EtherCAT drive for a rotary (modulo) axis in a system where the encoder resolution is 81920000 counts per rotation. If I enter this in the SoftMotion Scaling/Mapping tab for "increments <=> motor turns", I get the error below on the Commissioning tab. Is SM unable to handle a high-resolution encoder? The bus cycle is currently set to the default of 4 msec (Control Win V3 x64), although I plan to reduce that to reduce latency, possibly by switching to the realtime (RT) master. Is SoftMotion incompatible with high-resolution encoders? SMC_CGR_INVALID_POSPERIOD Invalid modulo period (<= 0 or greater than half the bus bandwidth)

Post by antonz on CoDeSys v3.5: creating libraries for both 32-bit and 64-bit controllers CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Follow up question: in the Project Settings, under Library Development, there is an option related to this: Check all Pool Objects -> Pointer size to use Options are: * 32 Bit * 64 Bit * 32 and 64 Bit The descriptions and online help suggest to me this is only relevant for checking and showing any incorrect pointer types as an error in the IDE. E.g. using a DWORD to store a pointer value on a 64-bit controller. It would not control the creation of either 32-bit or 64-bit compiled libraries. Is that correct?

Post by chloereed on Creating Boot Application not working CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
From what you describe, the boot application files are in the right place, but the key step you’re missing is how the runtime knows which application to load. In most cases with CODESYS Control Win, you don’t need to edit CodesysControl.cfg manually. Instead, once you’ve created the boot application (Application.app and .crc), copy them into the runtime instance directory (for example …\E84889DB), then restart the service. The PLC should automatically detect Application.app and start it. If TargetVisu still doesn’t open, double-check that the visualization settings are enabled for TargetVisu (Project → Devices → Visualization), and that you built the project with visualization included before creating the boot application. Editing the config is rarely required unless you’re running multiple applications ball orbit

Post by beavel on Customizing FileOpenSave Dialog and Keypad Integration in Visualization CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi all, I'm looking to adjust the visualization of the FileOpenSave dialog. Is there a library or visualization file associated with this dialog that can be extracted, customized, and re-imported into the project — similar to how the user management dialogs can be handled? Alternatively, is there a supported way to replace or override the default dialog with a custom one? Also, is it possible to configure the FileOpenSave dialog to use a custom keypad for text input? The rest of the project uses a custom keypad due to readability concerns (the default one is too small), and this inconsistency is now quite noticeable. Any guidance or workarounds would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance! @thk @eschwellinger @sheberle

Post by gseidel on Using an Axis of an Axis Group in Torque Conctrol CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi manuknecht, the axis group currently always writes the axis set torque values. If no dynamic model has been configured for the axis group, then the set torques are written to 0. The solution for your use case is to call SMC_GroupUpdate [0] before you call SMC_SetTorque on the axes. This way, the axis group will write 0 to the set torques in the call to SMC_GroupUpdate(), and SMC_SetTorque then will write the desired set torque. Best regards, Georg [0] https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/SM3_Robotics/Current/SM3_Robotics/POUs/AdministrativeConfiguration/Computation/SMC_GroupUpdate.html

Post by blitz on Arcs intersection CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Does anyone have an idea how to run such a spiral on CNC smoothly without stops? SMC_SmoothPath and SMC_RoundPath don’t help. In general according to the documentation they should work on arcs but in the example only straight lines are shown and I get the impression these functions only work for straight lines. Post by caliberbishop on Having trouble using the Web Client SL library CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I'm trying to use the Web Client SL library, I installed it in the IDE (did not purchase a license yet, as this is still a proof of concept so demo mode is good enough) and added it to the library manager. However, when trying to define a FB of the type WebClient I get a "Identifier 'WebClient' not defined" error message, setting the type to Web_Client_SL.WebClient did not work as well. Opening the example project the FBs defined there give the same error message. From the problem in the example project I deduce this is not a syntax problem, so maybe a license problem, but there should be a working demo mode, so what am I missing? Post by arjunk on How to correctly create a device descriptor (.devdesc.xml) for a custom Linux ARM64 PLC in CODESYS 3.5.21.20? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I’m trying to integrate a custom PLC into CODESYS so that it appears under the Device section. From what I understand, this requires a .devdesc.xml device descriptor file. I attempted to create the XML manually, but whenever I try to install it in order to generate a .package file, CODESYS crashes. CODESYS version: 3.5.21.20 Target PLC: Linux ARM64–based My questions are: Is there an official or easier way to generate a valid .devdesc.xml file for a custom PLC? Are there tools, templates, or examples that can help ensure the XML is structured correctly and won’t cause crashes? For Linux ARM64 targets specifically, is there a recommended starting point (e.g., modifying an existing device descriptor)? Any guidance or best practices for creating and packaging custom device descriptors would be greatly appreciated.

Post by bbmussatto on Connetion with Topcon Opus B3 ECO Full display CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I have a Topcon Opus B3 ECO Full display and i wanna program it with codesys, but i cant connect it to the display. After creating a new project, i choose the device "Opus B3-B4-B6-3.5.19.50" that is already available in my version of codesys, but i think the problem is that my version of codesys or something else is not the same as the codesys runtime version running on my display. Can anyone tell me how i can see the codesys runtime version on my display? i tried looking in the settings (Daemon > CDS) on the display, but all i see is "N/A" for "Customer Number", "Customer Part Number" and "Customer Serial Number". Can anyone help me make this connection?

Post by budd7566 on Text size suddenly changed CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Iv been working with a Deep Sea Electronics DSE840 for about 6 months. I have a development version of my program working with a state machine and a basic gui interface. I went to implement CAN and suddenly the text on the gui on the controller is much larger than before. I could flash old versions of my project and the text was the correct size, but if i renamed the project file, the text displayed would be large. The visualization in CODESYS always shows the expected size, but not the controller. I did a fresh install of CODESYS and even a new project with only one text box, I cant get the text size on the controller to match what is displayed in codesys to match. Any advice?

Post by kevinl on RevPi Connect RS485 CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I figured this out on my own with this logic: usually the Serial port on a Raspberry pi is on /dev/ttyUSB0 then you need to set linux.DeviceFile=/dev/ttyUSB in codesys you then must set com port to 1 so i assumed codesys subtracts 1 from the number and adds this to the filename... (in code it would look like this: var comPort : byte := '1'; linuxDevice : string := '/dev/ttyUSB'; filename : string; end_var filename := concat(linuxDevice, (to_string(comPort-1)); filaname then is /dev/ttyUSB0 RevPi uses ttyRS485 as Serial port so you must remove the last number from the name and set the com port to this number +1 i hope this is understandable ;-)

Post by snhatton on OpC UA server on Raspberry Pi 64 SL runtime CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Good afternoon, After changing the security settings to: CommunicationPolicy: POLICY_BASICSHA256SHA256 CommunicationMode: ALL Activation: Activated UserAuthentication: ENABLED Then generate a new certificate on the device for the OPC-UA server from Security Agent->Device->OPC UA Server. Restart the runtime using tools->Update Raspberry Pi->Stop->Start for the changes to take effect. It may take a minute for the runtime to start. Initiate the connection from the UA server side. You should see a pop-up asking you to trust the certificate. Click on the button 'Trust Server Certificate'. Next, you should see a certificate in the quarantined folder of the security agent in CODESYS. Click and drag this from quarantined to trusted and then try connecting from UA expert to the device. These steps worked for me and my setup and I hope they can help you!

Post by sumit on Remote Ethernet/ip Adapter communication with scanner running on codesys CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello there, I have my ethernet/ip adapter (from Texas Instrument) running on Texas Instrument Board and I have configured the scanner on codesys. I have mapped the I/Os and I can see (on wireshark) the frames coming from adapter but I don't see my input variables in scanner get updated, they just stay at 0. I wanted to see the real data that has been sent from adapter to scanner on codesys. I am not sure if the problem is in I/O mapping or there is a step/s that I have missed. I have attached the screenshot of my project for your ref. Thank you, Sumit

Post by user3000 on Can't find an Extended Pulse Timer (TP and LTP) CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I came up with an FBD that seems to be working, although it may not be a true Retriggerable Pulse timer. There may be some delay associated with the two MOVE functions and ADD function I incorporated. I'd be interested if anyone is able to come up with something cleaner. I am surprised that this is not a built-in function block of the CodeSYS library. This is a common feature of multi-function timer relays. I also attached a page from the cut sheet of a Schneider relay that shows 10 timing functions. Looks like the CodeSYS library has built-in function blocks for only 3 of the 10.

Post by fajean on Issues with "Add all instance path" CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
In the past, we have routinely used the "add all instance paths" function to automatically add variables to VAR_CONFIG lists. My recollection is that compiling a project did not require VAR_CONFIG to be fully populated, and, once successfully compiled, instance paths could be added. Errors related to missing declarations, if I recall correctly, were thrown when downloading to the PLC, they did not prevent a successful compile. At some point, it stopped working. Missing declarations in a VAR_CONFIG now cause a compile error, so the application is never "current", the only reason I can see being the missing VAR_CONFIG declarations themselves (no other error). We observe the same behavior across all our projects. This is really aggravating, and I must be missing something simple. We use 3.5 SP17p3, 64 bits. Can anyone help?

Post by jmohre on External file with relative path CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I try to add a simple text file to my PLC application, so that is download everytime the application is downloaded to the target. What I did is to add an external file to the application and this works perfect as long as the external file location does not change. It looks like the external file path is stored absolute in project. But if different users work on the project they may have different locations where for their working directory. Is there an option to store the external file path relative e.g. to the project file? Or does s.o. know a different solution to add a text file to application in order to download automatically with the application? Thanks

Post by vformanek on irq-set piority is not working in plc-shell CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I am currently having issues on CODESYS Control for linux SL with DTH expiring. I have followed several tutorials of creating a proper RT linux. Then I further configured the linux based on this tutorial: https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Control/_rtsl_performance_optimization.html Currently I am getting DHT expires in the communication and I am trying to increase of the priority of the network task which manages the PROFINET network adapter. I am following this tutorial: https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20PROFINET/_pnio_trouble_connection_failure.html But the irq-set is not changing the priority. See the image bellow....

Post by anderson on function block output CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I'm trying to make a CNC machine, but I'm having problems because the drive I'm using only has the option of communicating through digital inputs. In this case, I should use the CLP's digital outputs to communicate with it, correct? However, in the function blocks it seems that they are already pre-programmed and I didn't find the pulse output options, for example, so that I could associate a digital output from the PLC to connect this to the drive's pulse input. My question is: is it possible to associate the pulse output of the function block with a digital output of the PLC? and how to do this?

Post by timvh on Is it possible to use debug functions such as Step Execution while the PLC ladder is in Running? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Yes, it is possible to set breakpoints and use step into / step over (also in Ladder diagram). Yes, the PLC will actually stop, so be carefull with this. How a PLC works is that at the start of the execution of the Task, the Inputs are read, then the code is being executed and then the outputs are written. So if you set a breakpoint, you will not see your analog inputs changing, because the task cycle is interrupted and the inputs and outputs are not refreshed. For detailed information, see: https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_using_breakpoints.html

Post by matthew on New Ladder Diagram conversion does not work due to missing features CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi It looks like in the new ladder there is no way to remove unused FB call parameters or update the function block? It's quite often where you have a function block with multiple uses and not all the parameters are required. Need the ability to leave an input/output blank without getting an compile error Expression expected instead of '' Also double clicking on the FB no longer opens the underlying FB code and view what it was doing online. Dragging and dropping a variable does not work, only using the selection works. Will these be available in the V1.0 release or just best to stick to the old ladder until it's available? Thanks
