Post by micik on CAA File, how to check whether file exists or not CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, what would be the most efficient way to check whether the file exists or not. I don't want to use file.Open function, it seems like rather inefficiet operaton. I considered GetAttribute function, but this function doesn't accept filename (with path) as an input. Basically I need to check first time when program is loaded to the runtime i.e. when application is started for the first time, whether a file exists on the specific location or not.

Post by matthew on New Ladder Editor Issues CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi There, When using the new ladder editor there is no option for function blocks to Remove uncalled FB call parameters. I also see no update function block. When you double click the function block it no longer opens the function block. I also now get warnings if I insert FB call without a contact in front. Warning is: (Impl)): C0373: Expression or part of it has no effect I take it the new editor must work differently? The only reason for using new ladder editor is the ST execute/block editing is far better, If you have alot of text in the old ST execute the editor window is very small and when online it's even worse. The new ST block seems a lot better Thanks!

I think what you want is a declaration period function for the page, but unfortunately CODESYS does not have it.

Post by pascaljt on Function block for Ethernet/IP CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hello, I program a function for an Ethernet/IP controller. I made a structure with input and output corresponding with the map of my controller for the function block. My problem is that I don't know how to do the link between the controller and my PLC (CC 100 from Wago). The addresses declare in Codesys are illogic, The first addresses are 12 and 13 then 7 then 4. How to do corresponding the addresses of the controller and the input / output structure ? IP adress ? Does I must create the all variables of controller with the controller adresses to use with the function block ? Thanks for your help. (I hope I'm clear, I'm not english)

Hi, these variables are internal members of the axis. They measure the duration of some internal function calls.

Post by user3000 on Can't find an Extended Pulse Timer (TP and LTP) CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
I came up with an FBD that seems to be working, although it may not be a true Retriggerable Pulse timer. There may be some delay associated with the two MOVE functions and ADD function I incorporated. I'd be interested if anyone is able to come up with something cleaner. I am surprised that this is not a built-in function block of the CodeSYS library. This is a common feature of multi-function timer relays. I also attached a page from the cut sheet of a Schneider relay that shows 10 timing functions. Looks like the CodeSYS library has built-in function blocks for only 3 of the 10.

Post by totorovic on How to display the application name on a visualization (V3.5.16) CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
You could use the function AppGetApplicationInfo from CmpApp library. https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/libs/CmpApp/Current/AppGetApplicationInfo.html

Post by timvh on Display minutes as hours & minutes CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
You could use the Modulo function to get the minute part from the total minutes: Minutes := TotalMinutes MOD 60;

Your function block instance is not called, so the code is not executed to set the light on when the button is pressed.

Post by eguerra on Error in ScriptingEngine Docs - create_pou() CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
In the ScriptingEngine documentation there seems to be an error (or missing information) in the ScriptIecLanguageObjectContainer part ( https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/ScriptingEngine/ScriptIecLanguageObjectContainer.html#ScriptIecLanguageObjectContainer.ScriptIecLanguageObjectContainer ). The description of the function create_pou() doesn't specify the correct arguments requested, it only says create_pou(type: SpecialPouType) and a script using the documentation definition of the function will raise an error. I tried passing the function arguments similar to the ones specified for the create_dut() function and it seems to work fine: create_pou(name, PouType) , name : str UPDATE: The offline help has the correct definition IExtendedObject<IScriptObject> create_pou( string name, PouType type = PouType.FunctionBlock, Nullable<Guid> language = null, string return_type = null, string base_type = null, string interfaces = null )

Post by tvm on Cannot pass array of constant size to a function as a reference CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
maybe this would be a better approach, then you don't have to pass the constant at all. FUNCTION fun : INT VAR_IN_OUT arr: ARRAY[*] OF INT; END_VAR VAR lower: DINT; upper: DINT; END_VAR lower:= LOWER_BOUND(arr, 1); upper:= UPPER_BOUND(arr, 1); see here as well https://help.codesys.com/api-content/2/codesys/3.5.12.0/en/_cds_datatype_array/

Post by tvm on Cannot pass array of constant size to a function as a reference CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
It will be a reference, because it's a VAR_IN_OUT. it's a little weird debugging the array online. It just shows as a POINTER TO INT, and you can't actually see the array from the function side. But you can still work with it as a normal array, not a pointer.

Post by scarter on Bit / Bool data types in function parameters CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Any reason BIT and BOOL data types are not interchangeable? Trying to make a function which takes a BOOL IN/OUT parameter (Not allowed to use BIT) In the main logic if I make a DINT variable, and want to use each bit on different functions CODESYS will not allow it.

Post by siscu on Raspberry Pi: List of available example applications CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Could this be turned into a library? I'd love for a way to have the main program call a function block method using the program's I2C_master device. I assume I should be passing the master as a variable for the function block, but I don't see how that could be achieved

Post by kumareasu on Persistent variable storage CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Is there any function function block which can store the persistent variable in HDD/SSD immediatley. My observation is that the persistent variable is getting stored when we shut down or restart the system (Windows+ CoDeSys RTE SL ). the persistent variables are not stored in HDD/SSD, if I power off the system without proper shutdown. Seeking your feedback.

Post by jarnok on How to know if output if function block is used CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi, Is it possible to know of an output of a function block is used? I've found there is a way to find unused inputs of a fb, through the attribute: is_connected. But I'm wondering if the same can be done for an output. Thanks in advance!

Post by alexgooi on Modbus writing on value change CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
Hi Duvan, You could make this in 1 single object (FB), Indeed don't use a function for this beacuse you need some memory to keep the old value. For i := 0 TO 200 BY 1 DO //Check if the value has been changed IF Old_Value[i] <> Value[i] THEN //Set the trigger to TRUE Trigger[i] := TRUE; Old_Value[i] := Value[i]; END_IF END_FOR If you define the Value array as an In_Out and the Trigger as an In_Out you arn't claiming any aditional memory to your system. You ofcourse then need to add some code arround it that does something with the trigger and writes it back to FALSE again. If you want more flexability you also could use pointers instead of using the IN_OUT FOR i := 0 TO 200 BY 1 DO address := address_Input + i * SIZEOF(*Put type here); IF Address^ <> Old_Value[i] THEN Trigger[i] := TRUE; Old_Value[i] := Address^; END_IF END_FOR

Post by timvh on How to implement an interface (IElement)? CODESYS Forge talk (Post)
See: https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/element-collect/home/Home/ This contains an application "OnlineChangeSafeLinkedListExample". What you should do is create a new interface which has your "Priority" property. Then your FB should extend the base element function block and implement your own interface: E.g. FUNCTION_BLOCK MyElement EXTENDS COL.LinkedListElementBase IMPLEMENTS I_MyInterface Then the __QUERYINTERFACE does the magic to check if your "element" also implements your interface. Something like this: // Compares this element with itfElement. // Returns 0 if the elements are equal, < 0 if the element is less than itfElement, // > 0 if the element is greater than itfElement. // This method will be called from sorted collections (e.g. |COL.SortedList|) to sort the elements. // IMPORTANT: The underlying value to be compared with MUST NOT be changed during the lifecycle of the object. METHOD ElementCompareTo : INT VAR_INPUT (* The element to compare*) itfElement : COL.IElement; END_VAR VAR itfIntElement : I_MyInterface; xResult : BOOL; END_VAR // We use integer iInt1 for sorting. xResult := __QUERYINTERFACE(itfElement, itfIntElement); IF xResult THEN IF iInt1 < itfIntElement.Priority THEN ElementCompareTo := -1; ELSIF iInt1 > itfIntElement.Priority THEN ElementCompareTo := 1; ELSE ElementCompareTo := 0; END_IF ELSE ElementCompareTo := -1; END_IF
