There is currently a bug with the Raspberry Pi 64 SL where it is unable to Trend Global Retain or PersistantVars. The work around is to use standard Global Variables for Trend Data. This will be patched by Codesys in the near future reference "VIS-6170"

Hello, I hv a problem. Couldn't solve this for 2 days now. So I'm quite new at CodeSys and I have to use the spi port x30 on the edgelogix rpi 1000. So what I have to do is just 'add device' at the SPI where I hv to pick the 'SPI master' after that I hv to change the parameters according to the edgelogix I did found in the spidev.h but nothing got updated so I 'add device' again where I pick the PiFace I/O Driver and I put my variables at the I/O Mapping, which i put the input startbit at the in part and led at the out part. I want to make the led blink according to my structured text code but somehow the hardware didn't connected with the CodeSys spi port. Nothing happens. Any idea what I have to do?

Hi, I am writing to you today because I would like to create a library that would contain a program with its various subprograms, in my example "PLC_PRG" with "a", "aa", "aaa". But once the library is created as shown below: I would like to be able to drag and drop my folder as many times as I want (let's say I manage the same system multiple times). Once the drag and drop is done, we can see the second folder with the variables renamed successfully. As shown below: But my variables in CAD_1 remain the same as for CAD, so it's PLC_PRG instead of PLC_PRG_1, for example. Is there a solution to automate this? I wouldn't want to have to rename all my variables manually, considering that in the program where I want to do this, the number of variables is substantial. Lucas.

Hello all, im working on a project that requires me to convert an old automation direct DirectSoft PLC d2-250-1. One of the problems im encountering is that all of the comments are attached to members of the different addresses. When i convert the addresses (1777 "C" registers, 777 X registers, and 20,0000 V registers) im running into difficulties keeping the inputs/outputs correct since they are missing documentation. Is there a good way to retain the comments of the indexes in the array? Secondly, initially i was declaring the "C" and "V" addresses individually and this worked to retain the comments as to which register did what, however i ran into a problem when one rung reset (or set to 0) approximately 600 C Addresses. Since each tag is separately declared this proved to be nearly impossible without a literal wall of code that attempted to crash the program. So i converted all of the registers (C,X,Y,V) into separate structs, declared them as arrays and pointed all of the original call outs in the program to the newly defined structs. However i have now lost comments and the program is very hard to follow. Thanks for any help with this issue.

After some more digging I realized that I get an error on the PLC Logger saying PersistenceChannel: 150 (invalid type in data: SimpleLibrary). I tried changing the PersistenceChannel parameters to xCompressTags := FALSE which changed the entry in the data file from _xCompressTags BOOL:TRUE _xCompressTags BOOL:FALSE but the actual content of the data file and also the config data did not change.

Hello, I hope someone could help me. I installed the newest Codesys 3.5 SP 20 Patch 1. When loading the demo files from @i-campbell I can upgrade them to the latest version and everthing works on the OPC-UA client side as expected (object "a" is visible, I can use the "ExampleMethod"). Now I * remove the "Information Model", * delete the "OPC_UA_Symbols Objects", * Add "Information Model" again * add "TestRootObjectType" again and "Generate IEC declarations" * and search for mapped instances (to get instance "a" again) Very good still working as expected. Now I delete the OPC_UA_Symbols and add it again referring to the "objecttest" from 16.9.2020. Also I redo the steps from above. The result is now, that I can't see the "a" object in the "Root/Objects" folder. Why ist this and how can I make it running? I think, it could may be a different version of the UA configuration file. I tried to build my own model definition files and got the same problem (but I am really not an expert). When someone has a actual model, which is also running in the actual Codesys I would be very grateful. Or even better, how to make the correct model in e.g. UA Modeler SW (I followed the description https://documentation.unified-automation.com/uamodeler/1.6.0/html/howprojnet_sec.html).

Hallo Zusammen, gibt es in CODESYS bei Ablaufsteuerungen weitere Möglichkeiten außer den AS-Einstellungen z.B. die Aufbaustruktur der Ablaufsteuerung herauszufinden? Gesamtanzahl der verwendeten Aktionen / Schritte - Im besten Fall auch die einzelnen Verzweigungen? Ich würde den gesamten Aufbau der Schrittkette gerne als "View" in einer übergeordneten Software abbilden lassen, da sich die Ablaufsteuerungen, je nach Projekt im Aufbau unterscheiden bräuchte ich die Kenntniss über den Aufbau dieser Schrittketten. Oder müsste ich mir hier einen "Workaround" programmieren, der z.B. bei Init erstmal den Aufbau der Ablaufsteuerung durchläuft und mir die nötigen Informationen liefert? Natürlich wäre auch ein Weg den Aufbau des AS-Bausteins über die PLCopen XML zu exportieren, jedoch müsste dies bei Änderungen jeweils nachgezogen werden - was etwas unschön wäre, falls dies vergessen würde. Mittlerweile habe ich auch das Tool "SFC Visu Generator" gefunden, dessen Funktion im Prinzip genau das darstellt, was ich benötige - jedoch leider nur als CODESYS interne Visualisierung. Ich würde den Export des Bausteins gerne in meine übergeordnete Software implementieren. Gibt es hier die Möglichkeit das Vorgehen zu Erfahren oder den vom Baustein generierten Export bei mir zu implementieren? Hat hier jemand sowas ähnliches schonmal gelöst? Note that all the other code is pretty standard and works fine, but when I add the below it errors. The probelm arises for the B&R T30 panel after updating Codesys from 3.5.17 to 3.5.19 patch 5. We have to use 3.5.19 for other reasons so we cannot downgrade the version. The scaling problem only exists for the B&R 6PPT30.0702.20F025 panel, the B&R T50 panel and a esa lumia panel work. When we choose a fixed resolution it looks also good, however we also want to support the esa lumia panel with a different resolution. The images show the anisotropic and isotropic option. In the anisotropic option it scales the hight correctly but not the width and in the isotropic option is scales both hight and width false, it also does not start in the top left corner. Does someone have any suggestion why it does not work anymore with the new codesys version and are there workarounds? I added all versions with visualization packages as an image, visuElems is 4.4.0.0.

Hi, We have a machine running Codesys on a Windows IPC (CODESYS Control Win v3 - x64). When we hard shutdown the machine, the code on the PLC sometimes becomes "corrupted" after a power on (When trying to login to the PLC, we get the message "The application 'Application' does not exist on device."). I've noticed these errors in the logs, but I'm not sure what to make of them. We are not using any RETAIN variables in our code, although I'm not sure about referenced librairies. (we are using the persistence manager). I'm pretty sure that not doing a graceful shutdown is the root cause of this. This being said, what is the proper way of doing a graceful shutdown? Is putting the Codesys application in "stop" sufficient? I know how to implement this, so if it works then it would be a quick fix. However, I think we need to add a UPS, which would detect power loss and inform the PLC that it needs to initiate its shutdown, and then the PLC would shutdown gracefully. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated :)

This explanation aligns with the issues we’re experiencing with our machines. The scenario I described is happening with one of them (let’s call it Machine A). This machine is identical to another one (Machine B), except for some custom code that facilitates communication with an external Beckhoff PLC for MES integration in the production line. Machine B has been powered on and off daily for at least three months and has never had this problem. Given that, I highly doubt the MES custom code is the cause of the code corruption. This being said, your explanation does seem plausible. However, if faulty EtherCAT cables were the issue, why wouldn't the error occur during normal operation? Why would bad cables only cause problems during a hard shutdown? One last question: When you encountered this behavior, did you see a similar error in your logs? i.e, an "AccessViolation" exception in the EtherCAT Task?

But I have seen in the developer tools of the Webclient that a multiple fetching of the image and script data occurs when changing frames (HTTP code 304 NOT Modified), although these are already in the clients cache, which leads to unnecessary loading of resources from the web server. This behavior can also be found if the option “Support client animations and overlay of native elements” is deactivated, but this does not lead to such long delays. I had already tested loading all Visu elements so that everything was fetched once before they could be used. But that didn't help either. To prevent this behavior (permanent fetching), I have used a different way of switching the Visu elements in the VisuDemo Project, which also uses HTML5 control elements. I implemented this with the visibility of entire Visu elements. As a result, it only has to be fetched once and does not have to be fetched again when reloading. But I am still unsure about this implementation if the scope of the visualization becomes larger, as the Codesys visualization documentation advises against using many invisible elements. This is from 10 years ago, I know. But I have been using (SLAVE_DEVICE.iChannelIndex = CHANNEL_NUMBER) AND (SLAVE_DEVICE.xDone) I suppose that it shows xDone for the channel that shows up in the iChannelIndex at the same cycle? It seems to be working properly for two devices that I have been using it before But now I have another device and using two write channels, for one register each. One channel works properly and returns DONE flag When another channel is triggered, I see that it shows up in iChannelIndex, but flag DONE not received, but no Error for the channel. Also, when i check the register in the device it's evident that data has been transferred. Is this could happen sometimes with CODESYS, so DONE flag not received? Or this is a problem with a given device? With this certain register

Hallo, bisher war die Benutzung der Symbolkonfiguration für die OPC-UA Variablen recht easy einsetzbar. Im UAExpert Tool konnte man im Klarnamen den String sehen. var1 = client.get_node("ns=4;s=|var|WAGO 750-8212 PFC200 G2 2ETH RS.Application.PLC_PRG.fbTest.StateActual") Die Anbindung an die Python opcua Library hat so eigentlich gut funktioniert. Auch zum debuggen im UAExptert, konnte man den Value so sehen wie die Varibale heißt. In meinem Fall ein Enum. Was seit längerer Zeit nicht mehr funktionier ist das eingeben von Enums. Im UAExpert kommt die Fehlermeldung "BadTypeMismatch" früher war das nicht der Fall. Da die Symbolkonfiguration demnächst bei Codesys 3.5 rausfällt, wollte ich den Kommunikationsverwalter nutzen. Jetzt schaut der String mit der Node ID komplett anders aus. Bsp.: NS5|Opaque|0x01000000A6E12A718AF7333ABAFA2D7686EF27669CF33071C7D034759DE601779DF62178E9 Hier sieht man den Value gar nicht mehr im UA Expert. In Python finde ich auch keine Möglichkeit die OPC UA Variable einzulesen. The system will not allow me to "re-define" "val_type" however. Instead I must do the work-around of defining four different types with all fields individually defined. The benefit if I could extend the base item would be that Im (more) sure the structures are identical. In usage I can call in a specific type rather use the base type and assign which type. Usage by pointer/ref to log_data_base would also be easier.. (* Usage: *) log_data : log_data_int := (name, value etc.) (* Instead of: *) log_data : log_data_base := (name, value, val_type).. Is this possible to achieve in some way that I have missed?

TASK Create an SFC program to control a traffic light at an intersection. Description: You will program a traffic light that has three phases: Green, Yellow, and Red. The traffic light must follow these rules: Green light is on for 10 seconds. Yellow light is on for 3 seconds. Red light is on for 10 seconds. If the pedestrian button is pressed, the system must keep the red light on for 20 seconds during the next cycle. After the pedestrian has “crossed,” the system should return to its normal cycle. Basic Steps: Initialization: Start by setting the traffic light to Red. Green Phase: After 10 seconds, switch to Green. Yellow Phase: After 10 seconds in the Green phase, switch to Yellow. Red Phase: After 3 seconds in the Yellow phase, switch back to Red. Loop: Repeat the cycle. Use, for example, lamp symbols in the visualization module to simulate the traffic light. You may also add a simple pedestrian light if desired.

Hi @eschwellinger, I tried this with Modbus COM slaves. I was able to disable them (slave becomes greyed out in the device tree), but the DED.Reconfigure "eError" output shows "NOT_SUPPORTED". After this, when I tried to re-enable the slave, it did not work (device stayed greyed out in the device tree), and the DED.Reconfigure "eError" output also showed "NOT_SUPPORTED". Is there something to do about this, or the device just doesn't support reconfiguration? P.S: I tried this running locally on my computer (not in simulation mode). So of course I was not physically connected to the devices. I have two similar projects, but one of them doesn't have the Modbus_COM devices. I know I can "Exclude from build" the devices for that project, but I would really prefer not to do this if possible. I would prefer to dynamically toggle a configuration variable that would enable or disable the slaves.

I'm having some troubles with this same issue and I'm wondering if someone can help me out. On a settings visual I allow the operator to enter some values however if they activate the page change button it will change the change with the Numpad dialog open. Since I'm using Visuelems.CURRENTVISU to change the pages I came across this code noted below for determining if the Numpad dialog was active. This code worked great however now in 3.5.19 it's now obsolete. I've tried following the directions in the attached program above however I can't see to get it to work in my program. Can anyone provide some help to determine if a dialog is open? Hi everyone, I’m completely new to CODESYS and have been teaching myself. And i Want to control an Axis using SM3RaspiStepper. Following the example on the RaspiStepper home page, I set up an axis through a POU and tied the SMC_StartupDrive (Visu) template to my axis instance (sud). Unfortunately, the motor never moves and I don’t see any pulses on the PULSE pin (GPIO 23). Hardware -Raspberry Pi 4 B -Nema 17 stepper motor -A4988 stepper driver (EN pin permanently tied to GND) Software / Runtime -CODESYS 3.5 SP21 Patch 1 – Raspberry Pi runtime (demo) -SoftMotion in demo mode -Package: SM3_RaspiStepper 0.0.0.6 Axis parameters: Pulse pin GPIO 23 Direction pin GPIO 24 Enable pin 0 (unused) Disable pin 0 (unused) Whether I start the axis from the visualization template or through Online Config Mode, the motor never spins. In Online Config Mode I press Power → the state changes from Standstill to Discrete_Motion, but the motor shaft is still locked and no step pulses appear on GPIO 23 (checked with a scope). I can provide screenshots of the Visualization, PLC logs, or wiring pictures if that helps. Any ideas on what I might be missing? Happy to provide screenshots, project files, or scope captures if that helps. Thanks in advance!

Ich habe sowohl meinen eigenen Code als auch das CODESYS-Beispiel getestet, aber in beiden Fällen wird keine Datei geschrieben. Ich arbeite mit CODESYS Control Win V3 als SoftPLC unter Windows. Problem: • Der Funktionsbaustein XMLWriteAsync meldet NO_ERROR (keine Fehler in xError, eError, oder eLastError), aber die XML-Datei wird weder im angegebenen Pfad (C:\Users\tomgs\Documents\CodesysDataTest\xmltest.xml) noch im res/-Verzeichnis (wie im CODESYS-Beispiel verwendet) erstellt. • Das CODESYS-Beispiel mit res/xmltest.xml als Pfad funktioniert ebenfalls nicht. • Ich aktiviere xExecute manuell in der Online-Ansicht, und xDone wird TRUE, ohne dass xError ausgelöst wird. • Der Ordner C:\Users\tomgs\Documents\CodesysDataTest\ existiert, und ich habe Schreibrechte. • Ich habe auch alternative Pfade wie C:\Temp\xmltest.xml und res/xmltest.xml getestet, ohne Erfolg. Thank you for your input! What I'm ultimately trying to achieve is automated test execution as part of a CI/CD pipeline (e.g. in GitLab or Azure DevOps). For this, I need to: Open a CODESYS project via script Build the project Run the Test Manager tests from a .TestRepository.xml Collect test results (e.g., pass/fail + a report) Exit with a proper return code (for pipeline success/failure) To integrate this into automation, I’m using the CODESYS scripting engine via Python (headless), but the issue is that the get_testmanager() function isn't available on the project object — even though Test Manager is installed, licensed, and works interactively in the IDE. Are you suggesting that I should: Use the Test Manager GUI to script the logic with its internal scripting language? Or is there a way to launch the Test Manager in headless/scripted mode, while still being able to control things via Python? If there's a supported way to automate tests with the Test Manager using scripting, especially from pipelines or headless environments, I’d really appreciate any pointers or example workflows.
