I think more information is needed to help solve the issue. Can you list the exact steps to reproduce the issue? What version of Codesys are you using? Did you add a persistentVars object to your project? I would recommend browsing all instances of the retain variable to see all possible writes to the variable in question.

No. As you can see in the uploaded image, in my test project, I have a variable list GVL_1 which is located in appication_1. But if I write in POU_2, which is instead found in application 2, I cannot find the variables of GVL_1. it seems that the GVLs are children of each app

I’m currently working on establishing a TLS connection with an MQTT broker using the MQTT Client SL package in CODESYS. While I’ve successfully established communication with the broker without TLS, I'm encountering issues when trying to enable TLS. In the 'MQTT Explorer' application, I can easily upload the server certificate (.crt), client certificate (.crt), and client key (.key). However, in CODESYS, I can’t find a way to upload my client key (.key file). Here's a summary of my current setup: Certificates: I have uploaded both the client and server certificates to the certificate store under the 'Trusted Certificates' folder in the security screen. TLS Context Initialization: Despite setting the _sCommonName as the name of my client certificate, a new self-signed certificate is created and placed within the device’s certificates. I then need to manually move this certificate to the trusted certificates folder. Hi, In Codesys V3.5 SP20, using Data Source Manager I am trying to connect to the OPC UA server and receive tags from it. The connection is ok, but the Codesys have a problem with downloading Tags group. The window (downloadingTags.jpg in attachement) never stop. After waiting for a while, I disconnect the connection and only the Server group remains downloaded, with OPC UA server diagnostic data (and this is read in Codesys). Of course, I tried connected via another OPC UA client : UaExpert , and everything works as it should, all tags are downloaded (Uaexpert.jpg screen). Has anyone on the forum encountered the OPC UA client configuration in Codesys? Is it possible to manually request the appropriate tags from the OPC server for reading in Codesys?

Hello, I have a project using some EPEC PLC's. Some of them are programmable using Ethernet and some use CAN. We currently have a Raspberry Pi that is acting as a gateway to the Codesys Automation Server and is successfully working for the PLC's communicating over ethernet. I am trying to achieve a similar result for the PLC's that have only CAN access. I have PEAKCan drivers on the Pi, and can successfully send/receive messages. But the Gateway does not recognise the PLC when scanned from the Automation server online. Is there a library or service that exists to translate the CAN messaging, to the Edge Gateway, and be able to achieve remote access with the Automation Server? Or is this not possible without creating something custom? Cheers, Daniel

(Aee OLH and Syntax) The placeholder <slot> must be replaced by an integer value that defines the position in the initialization sequence.</slot> The default value is 50000. A lower value causes an earlier initialization! If several signatures have the same value for the 'global_init_slot' attribute, the order of their initialization remains undefined! Cautious application should therefore be considered! Example: The project contains f.e. two global variable lists GVL_1 and GVL_2. The global variable "A" is part of the global variable list GVL_1: {attribute 'global_init_slot' := '300'} VAR_GLOBAL A : INT:=1000; END_VAR The initialization values of the variables "B" and "C" of GVL_2 are dependent on the variable "A". {attribute 'global_init_slot' := '350'} VAR_GLOBAL B : INT:=A+1; C : INT:=A-1; END_VAR So if you set the 'global_init_slot' attribute of the global variable list GVL_1 to 300, i.e. to the lowest initialization value in the example, then it is ensured that the expression "A+1" is well-defined at the time of initialization of "B".

If I am understanding what you are saying, then yes that would be your problem. I would create an array of bools on the client side for the transfer and try that. Or if client can't be changed then use words on server and unpack. But I am not sure if you or I are mis interpreting but it sounds a bit jumbled. I don't know what you have control of, but, if you are turning on BITS in the server, you should write to BITS in the client with a Function 15. If you are writing to WORDS in the server, you should write to WORDS in the client with a Function 16.

Hello Matteo, I think the problem is about configuration of firewall (windows firewall usually). You can disable temporary the firewall to check if the communication works. Eventually you can: Go to the control panel -> Windows Defender Firewall -> Allow an app or feature Enable the options to change the settings. Scroll down in the application list to CODESYS and CODESYS ControlService. If you don’t see this application add it to the list. Make sure that all the checkboxes are checked (Domain, Private and public).

Hi guys, I have a textlist in my project which is working just as expected in a drop down list. I would like to move this text list to a sd card and access it from there, because I want to ease the editing of the contents of this textlist. I'm imagining a solution like the operator shuts down the plant, takes the sd card out, edits the textlist on the card with a windows machines notepad, then reinserts the card in the PLC and restarts the plant, having the new content of the textlist populating the dropdown list. I'm sorry that I'm asking you to spoonfeed me, but I did not find anything straightforward to do this... I saw in the Project>Project settings>Visualisation a relative path thingy, but I have the plant in operation and I would not like to make 100 trial and errors right now... I'm also not interested in SysLib file read commands and stuff, I would just like to access the file from the cards part, I don't want to replace its contents dynamically or such... nor I have language files or recipes... Hi, I haven´t noticed you put the comment here. I thing it´s a bit different. What I want is to have detail errors of technology in data type e.g. INT. This variable I would latch to the corresponding error msg but I would like to get it convert to text from the text list and not keep it in INT form. Example. Main error Valve Error: SubErrors 1 - Both sensors 2 - Not retracted in time 3 - Not pulled out in time In HMI Main error + latch SubErrors => "Valve Error: Both sensors" The benefit is that text lists are part of translation and can be easily manipulated. I know I can create whole string msg in PLC but then, it lose advantage of Alarm management. Thanks. M.
