Hi all I want to pass a struct into a function without declaring the struct in a VAR/END_VAR. Is this possible? I think this would be called a struct literal It would look something like this someFB.write(structArgument := MyStruct#(a := 1, b := 1.2), otherArgument := TRUE); With this struct declaration TYPE MyStruct : STRUCT a : INT; b : REAL; END_STRUCT END_TYPE

Hi! I am trying to achieve the same issue. Has there been a solution? I can create the mapping, and map the local variable, but somehow the object does not update. Furthermore, i have an issue where codesys doesn't let me set ReadWrite accesses to the variables in the "Type Mapping" place. The access will simply not be set. Has anyone ran int that issue?

It will be a reference, because it's a VAR_IN_OUT. it's a little weird debugging the array online. It just shows as a POINTER TO INT, and you can't actually see the array from the function side. But you can still work with it as a normal array, not a pointer.

Hello, I’m in Codesys 3.5.20.40 and I try to declare the variable ´var1´ but I get an error. here : https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_rules.html i read : Backtick identifiers By using backticks, characters can also be used in identifiers that are not normally permitted in identifiers, such as special characters. The acute accent character is used for backticks: ´ (Unicode: U+02CA) The use of backticks is recommended in order to be able to use the same identifiers in CODESYS as in other programming languages or documents, such as circuit diagrams. Any character may be used between two backticks, except line breaks and other backticks. Keywords are also allowed as identifiers between backticks. Examples: ´Variable+9´ ´INT´ The backticks are part of each identifier and therefore var1 and ´var1´ are two different identifiers. Example PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR var1 : INT; ´var1´: INT; END_VAR var1 := var1 + 1; ´var1´ := 12; Are there any limitations or is something missing in my development environment?

You are right, that you can use the GetState method, but it is not that simple. You first have to get a list of (filtered) alarms from the AlarmManager. You can find an example in Forge how to do this. See https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/alarm-manager/home/Home/ Then you can go through this list to get the state of all the (filtered) alarms. See below the code which you could use. This is all based on the example from forge. Create a program: // This example shows how to access alarms via structured text. PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR xInit : BOOL := TRUE; udiResult : UDINT; fbAlarmFilterCriteriaAll : FB_AlarmFilterCriteriaAll; fbAlarmManagerClient : FB_AlarmManagerClient; itfAlarmManagerClient : IAlarmManagerClient := fbAlarmManagerClient; xAlarm1 : BOOL; xAlarm2 : BOOL; xWarning : BOOL; iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList : INT; iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList : INT; paitfAlarm: POINTER TO ARRAY [0..0] OF AlarmManager.IAlarm; iAlarmIndex : INT; eAlarmState: AlarmManager.AlarmState; END_VAR IF xInit THEN xInit := FALSE; fbAlarmManagerClient.itfAlarmFilterCriteria := fbAlarmFilterCriteriaAll; // register alarm client to get updated about alarm status / changes udiResult := AlarmManager.g_AlarmHandler.RegisterClient(itfAlarmManagerClient, 0, 0); END_IF // Polling the number of alarms udiResult := AlarmManager.g_AlarmHandler.GetActiveAlarms(itfAlarmManagerClient, parritfActiveAlarms => paitfAlarm, iCountActiveAlarms => iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList); iAlarmIndex := 0; iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList := 0; WHILE iAlarmIndex < iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList DO eAlarmState := paitfAlarm^[iAlarmIndex].GetState(); IF eAlarmState = AlarmManager.AlarmState.Active OR eAlarmState = AlarmManager.AlarmState.ActiveAcknowledged THEN iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList := iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList + 1; END_IF iAlarmIndex := iAlarmIndex + 1; END_WHILE See below some details about the function blocks: One function block should implement the IAlarmFilterCriteria interface. This can be empty except a few methods. FUNCTION_BLOCK FB_AlarmFilterCriteriaAll IMPLEMENTS AlarmManager.IAlarmFilterCriteria Method implementation (others related to interface are empty) METHOD AreAllAlarmClassesSelected : BOOL AreAllAlarmClassesSelected := TRUE; METHOD AreAllAlarmGroupsSelected : BOOL AreAllAlarmGroupsSelected := TRUE; METHOD GetPriorityFrom : USINT GetPriorityFrom := 0; METHOD GetPriorityTo : USINT GetPriorityTo := 255; The other function block should implement IAlarmManagerClient and get a reference to the FB which implements the IAlarmFilterCriteria FUNCTION_BLOCK FB_AlarmManagerClient IMPLEMENTS AlarmManager.IAlarmManagerClient VAR_INPUT itfAlarmFilterCriteria: AlarmManager.IAlarmFilterCriteria; END_VAR Method implementation (others related to the interface are empty) METHOD GetFilterCriteria : AlarmManager.IAlarmFilterCriteria // see VAR_INPUT for filter GetFilterCriteria := itfAlarmFilterCriteria; Off course you have to add the AlarmManager to your application and add some alarms to it.

Please see or Online Help on how to initialize variable before using them: https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_pragma_attribute_global_init_slot.html Regarding the Attribute global_init_slot: You can use this pragma to influence the order in which signatures are processed during global initialization. It can only be applied to signatures. By default, the initialization sequence for variables from global variable lists is undefined! However, if, for example, variables from one list depend on variables from another list, it is necessary to initialize one before the other. (Aee OLH and Syntax) The placeholder <slot> must be replaced by an integer value that defines the position in the initialization sequence.</slot> The default value is 50000. A lower value causes an earlier initialization! If several signatures have the same value for the 'global_init_slot' attribute, the order of their initialization remains undefined! Cautious application should therefore be considered! Example: The project contains f.e. two global variable lists GVL_1 and GVL_2. The global variable "A" is part of the global variable list GVL_1: {attribute 'global_init_slot' := '300'} VAR_GLOBAL A : INT:=1000; END_VAR The initialization values of the variables "B" and "C" of GVL_2 are dependent on the variable "A". {attribute 'global_init_slot' := '350'} VAR_GLOBAL B : INT:=A+1; C : INT:=A-1; END_VAR So if you set the 'global_init_slot' attribute of the global variable list GVL_1 to 300, i.e. to the lowest initialization value in the example, then it is ensured that the expression "A+1" is well-defined at the time of initialization of "B".

Why will it retain the sum value from the last call? This is how PLC work. Usually variables only get initialized after a download or a reset (i.e. power loss). RETAIN variables are saved in a special kind of RAM and keep their value after a power loss. To initialize variables on every call of your FB use the VAR TEMP block. VAR_TEMP sum : INT; END_VAR

This is a consequence of how computers store floating point numbers. 0.1 cannot be exactly represented in a computer. This is not a CoDeSys thing. Here is a link to a converter to show you the exact value that is represented when you use a REAL data type (which is a 32 bit float). https://baseconvert.com/ieee-754-floating-point If you really need to keep track of 0.1 increments. use INT OR DINT and then add 1 each time and assume that there is one decimal place.

To search for an exact phrase, put it in quotes. Example: "getting started docs"
To exclude a word or phrase, put a dash in front of it. Example: docs -help
To search on specific fields, use these field names instead of a general text search. You can group with AND or OR.
