Hi DavidBo, In general Codesys is used to control equipment and an exception is the worst thing that can happen in your installation. If you cannot prevent the exception from triggering, you could implement a Try catch statement, with this solution your controller keeps on running and you are able to handle the exception. __TRY //This statement will trigger an exception Result := 4/0; __CATCH(exc) //Handle the exception HandleException(exc, strExceptionText => strExceptionText); // From the Codesys help file //Create a log file //-------------------------------------------------------- __ENDTRY What you also could do is implement implicit checks, these functions cover most of the exceptions (like dividing by zero) See picture But in general avoid a complete controller shutdown!

After creating a Function POU, it is not possible to then create an SFC POU. Steps to recreate: * Create a new Function POU. SFC is not allowed for Functions, so SFC does not show in the Implementation language dropdown. * Click Add Object -> POU... Function is selected for Type. * Select Program * SFC is not present in the Implementation language dropdown

Hi, I am trying to create a log in my application. Since I cannot find any documentation regarding modifying the codesys configuration file to be able to log in ms, i tried to create a new log via CmpLog.LogCreate. Below is the part of the code where I create the logger and write a test string. In the log tab of codesys I actually see the new log that was created, but it is empty, and in the folder I cannot find any files. I can't find any detailed documentation. Can you guys give me support? Are there any examples? Hello, I'm trying to use FILE.Open to open file that exists in the given location. sFileName is formed from "Copy as path" in Windows. So I'm sure file exists and it is in the given location. And still, I get thiss denied error. What could be the problem here? Attached is a screenshot with current implementation.

I'm having trouble getting started with the SysFile library. I tried copying and running the code found here: https://forge.codesys.com/forge/talk/Engineering/thread/f17c3d0e64/ Every time I try to run the file handle pointer returns: 16#FFFFFFFFFFFFFFFF <dereference of="" invalid="" pointer=""></dereference> I can see the file when I look in the Device -> Files window Any idea what I'm doing wrong?

Hi there, I'm testing out MQTT from my Wago PLC using JSON object. I have managed to publish this {"Temperature":15.6,"Setpoint":38.0} to my broker. Now I', trying to subscribe to the same message. The result is this: '{"Temperature":15.6,"Setpoint":38.0}95}ê$10šå$04$Nå$08²Ÿå$0B` á$08@šå' First, why do I see 95}ê$10šå$04$Nå$08²Ÿå$0B` á$08@šå' at the end of the message? Second, how Can i sort out this data to use it in my program? I followed a youtube tutorial which gave me the attached result, which works. But I need some other smart way of doing this when the object gets even more data in it. Any help is very appreciated :)

Hello all, I would like to store some data in text file. I use the soft PLC Win V3x64, on Windows 10. I use the SysFile Library 3.5.17.0. If I store the file directly in the in the directory of the PLC i.e. in '/CODESYSControlWinV3x64/E1FA7ABE/PlcLogic/LogAU.txt' the file is correctly filled with the data. However, If I use an absolute path to a different directory no data is stored in the respective file. Despite the fact that the respective file exists and the Filehandler is correctly opened (see in picture _fdSysFHandle <> -1). // sFileName : STRING := 'LogAU.txt'; // STORES FILE IN ../CODESYSControlWinV3x64/../PlcLogic/LogAU.txt' sFileName : STRING := 'C/Temp/LogAU.txt'// DOES NOT WORK --------------------- // FILE DESCRIPTOR _fdSysFHandle := SysFile.SysFileOpen( szFile:= sFileName,am:= SysFile.AM_APPEND,pResult := ADR(_Result)); Does some have an idea where the problem is, resp. how I can get store a file in an arbitrary directory. Hello, what would be the most efficient way to check whether the file exists or not. I don't want to use file.Open function, it seems like rather inefficiet operaton. I considered GetAttribute function, but this function doesn't accept filename (with path) as an input. Basically I need to check first time when program is loaded to the runtime i.e. when application is started for the first time, whether a file exists on the specific location or not.
