Hello, I'm currently working on transferring a project I recently created on Studio 5000 to CODESYS and unfortunately CODESYS isn't compatible with AOI's so I was wondering if there was anyone who could help me transfer these L5X AOI blocks to ST Function Blocks that I can import into CODESYS so I can use them for this project or if you know where I can find preexisting Function Blocks for these AOI's. Thank you so much!

You are right, that you can use the GetState method, but it is not that simple. You first have to get a list of (filtered) alarms from the AlarmManager. You can find an example in Forge how to do this. See https://forge.codesys.com/prj/codesys-example/alarm-manager/home/Home/ Then you can go through this list to get the state of all the (filtered) alarms. See below the code which you could use. This is all based on the example from forge. Create a program: // This example shows how to access alarms via structured text. PROGRAM PLC_PRG VAR xInit : BOOL := TRUE; udiResult : UDINT; fbAlarmFilterCriteriaAll : FB_AlarmFilterCriteriaAll; fbAlarmManagerClient : FB_AlarmManagerClient; itfAlarmManagerClient : IAlarmManagerClient := fbAlarmManagerClient; xAlarm1 : BOOL; xAlarm2 : BOOL; xWarning : BOOL; iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList : INT; iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList : INT; paitfAlarm: POINTER TO ARRAY [0..0] OF AlarmManager.IAlarm; iAlarmIndex : INT; eAlarmState: AlarmManager.AlarmState; END_VAR IF xInit THEN xInit := FALSE; fbAlarmManagerClient.itfAlarmFilterCriteria := fbAlarmFilterCriteriaAll; // register alarm client to get updated about alarm status / changes udiResult := AlarmManager.g_AlarmHandler.RegisterClient(itfAlarmManagerClient, 0, 0); END_IF // Polling the number of alarms udiResult := AlarmManager.g_AlarmHandler.GetActiveAlarms(itfAlarmManagerClient, parritfActiveAlarms => paitfAlarm, iCountActiveAlarms => iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList); iAlarmIndex := 0; iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList := 0; WHILE iAlarmIndex < iNrOfAlarmsInAlarmList DO eAlarmState := paitfAlarm^[iAlarmIndex].GetState(); IF eAlarmState = AlarmManager.AlarmState.Active OR eAlarmState = AlarmManager.AlarmState.ActiveAcknowledged THEN iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList := iNrOfActiveAlarmsInAlarmList + 1; END_IF iAlarmIndex := iAlarmIndex + 1; END_WHILE See below some details about the function blocks: One function block should implement the IAlarmFilterCriteria interface. This can be empty except a few methods. FUNCTION_BLOCK FB_AlarmFilterCriteriaAll IMPLEMENTS AlarmManager.IAlarmFilterCriteria Method implementation (others related to interface are empty) METHOD AreAllAlarmClassesSelected : BOOL AreAllAlarmClassesSelected := TRUE; METHOD AreAllAlarmGroupsSelected : BOOL AreAllAlarmGroupsSelected := TRUE; METHOD GetPriorityFrom : USINT GetPriorityFrom := 0; METHOD GetPriorityTo : USINT GetPriorityTo := 255; The other function block should implement IAlarmManagerClient and get a reference to the FB which implements the IAlarmFilterCriteria FUNCTION_BLOCK FB_AlarmManagerClient IMPLEMENTS AlarmManager.IAlarmManagerClient VAR_INPUT itfAlarmFilterCriteria: AlarmManager.IAlarmFilterCriteria; END_VAR Method implementation (others related to the interface are empty) METHOD GetFilterCriteria : AlarmManager.IAlarmFilterCriteria // see VAR_INPUT for filter GetFilterCriteria := itfAlarmFilterCriteria; Off course you have to add the AlarmManager to your application and add some alarms to it.

Yes, you are right. I think the help is pretty clear: https://content.helpme-codesys.com/en/CODESYS%20Development%20System/_cds_library_development.html It helps you to find errors in the source code of your library if you want to create a library which is using pointers and you want to use your library on 32 and/or 64 bit platforms.

Im struggling with the AC Persistence. AC persistence seems to work for any variable that is changed online and values are kept during reboot. However, if I try to edit the persistence files offline or replace the persistence files with a previously downloaded older persistence file (with modified values), the online value will not follow, as if the system did not at all read the file at boot? My testing sequence. - Edit a the value of a persistenced variable (with xSaveOnChange = True) - Save/download the associated persistence file, (and confirm the value has changed). - Edit the value online for a second time . - Stop runtime - Replace (upload) the persistence file with my previously downloaded file . - Coldstart/Warmstart/Start runtime - Whatever Im trying the value of my persistence variable will always be equal to that of my second edit as if the file is not read/considered during boot. What am I doing wrong?

in case you are using latest hw revision, there have been added some mac adresses - for the 4.17.0.0 release this might solve it. If not we need to investigate deeper. If it is application related you need to check the plclogger.

We have been using the Codesys Control for Rasberry Pi for several years in many installations without any major issues. But during summer the problem mentioned above has blocked further deliveries. We have made some minor upgrades to the application but I do not really see why that should have any impact. HW is Raspberry Pi 4B, 2GB OS is Booworm Lite Codesys control is version 4.15 (have just installed a few systems lately with this version) The system boots OK but after exactly 30 seconds Codesys is shut down and becomes unreachable. We have tested several different combinations: Upgrade of the Codeys Control to 4.16 Loading different Codesys applications Changing to 4GB version of the Raspberry Pi One of the test applications together with the 4GB HW seems to be stable, but all other combinations fails. Any suggestion what we can do to resolve is appreciated - this is a real business blocker now. Rgds

Thank you very much for the quick answer! The RPi hw were delivered last week so it's probably a resent version. I found an old scrapped board (2 years or so) with a broken GPIO that I tested with the same SD card image and with that board Codeys can run for the full 2h demo period without issues. Then I went back the the new board to test the 4.17.0.0 release but the installation fails... [INFORMATION] Standard output: create and install daemon [INFORMATION] Standard output: codesyscontrol started [WARNING] Unable to detect Raspberry Pi Architecture. Setting armv6l as default, you can change this through the settings panel. [INFORMATION] Standard output: codesyscontrol stopped [ERROR] Expected exit value of command failed: expected 0, received 1 [WARNING] Error setting the Raspberry Pi Architecture [ERROR] Error installing codesyscontrol Do you have any idea what could be the reason? I'm using an OS image including Python drivers for LCD and some I/O:s from last year to keep things stable, but also after upgrading with sudo apt update && sudo apt upgrade I still get the same error Reverting back to 4.15.00 works fine: [INFORMATION] Standard output: create and install daemon [INFORMATION] Standard output: codesysedge started [INFORMATION] Successfully installed codesyscontrol [INFORMATION] Successfully started CODESYS Edge Gateway for Linux [INFORMATION] Successfully started CODESYS Control for Raspberry Pi SL but as before the Codesys services stops after 30 seconds. And I noticed that the Codesys control stops and is not reachable also if I have no application loaded.

I swear I tested this like 20 times yesterday without success. Repeated it today and it works. Maybe the system needed a "real" power reboot? To note. To make a manual edit of a variable I tried some different approaches this is what worked for me. "system/online edited" gvl_var.example_variable REAL:F16#2FFB334H-4 767.7 "manually edited" (with runtime stopped followed by a "cold start" to read from file) gvl_var.example_variable REAL:790.1 (the system will use the manual value but will not set an equivalent "hex" value until next online edit/write cycle)

Dear Forum, Iβm currently investigating the possibilities of Codesys virtual control (Linux). The research rig consists of a PC (Debian with real time kernel) with a docker server installed on it. The PC is communicating with a Remote I/O and I have to say the performance is great. The process in the container is running (soft) real time. Currently Iβm checking if it is possible to replace physical controllers by remote I/Oβs and run the Codesys applications on a docker server. If Iβm going into this route the reliability of the server is very important (server down, complete installation down), is it possible to make the server redundant without needing 2 separate containers (including licenses), and maintaining the real time behavior? Iβm not only expecting direct answers, if you have any idea or thought they are very welcome. Kind regards Alex

you are able to do this all in one screen. It is possible to set the rights of every element to visible but not editable for the user "none". so everyone is able to see this elements, but can't do any changes. At the login button you set the rights to editable for the user "none" to be able to go to the login. Every element that should be hidden before logging in, set the rights visible and editable only for "higher" users. Hint: to change rights you are able to select more then one element and edit rights for all at the same time. Saves a lot of time! Good luck!

For the protocol. What also works is to do the process via ssh (using runtime on linux) sudo /etc/init.d/codesyscontrol stop modify the persistence file values sudo /etc/init.d/codesyscontrol start

I have a Control Win V3.5 SP20 (64-bit) application, and until now, I open the program (with a password) and download it. However, I need to give the client the option to install the program on the Controller, without them having to open it and access the code. So, I followed these steps: 1 β In the Online => Create Boot Application menu, I saved the generated files in a directory: Application.app Application.crc PlcLogic\visu\ directory with several files 2 β In the SysTray, I ran the PLC, and it created a directory. In the root of this directory (C:\ProgramData\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64\E84889DB), I pasted Application.app and Application.crc. Since it created a \visu directory, I pasted the PlcLogic\visu\ files generated in Create Boot Application into it. 3 - In the general Codesys directory (C:\ProgramData\CODESYS\CODESYSControlWinV3x64), I edited CodesysControl.cfg, adding: [CmpLog] Application.1=Application 4 - When running the PLC, nothing happens and the TargetVisu screen does not open. What I'm doing wrong?

Hello, I am having trouble figuring out the proper location for my virtual runtime to create a .CSV file. No matter the file location I set, I get error 14 (CANNOT_OPEN_DIRECTORY). I have tried multiple different file paths ('/', '/var/opt/codesysvcontrol/PlcLogic', '/var/opt/codesys/'). I understand that there is only certain places that Codesys can read/write. I am also running this virtual runtime in a Podman container. Does anyone know what the location should be? I attached the archive I was using, a project that tests CSV capability that I borrowed from someone else. Thanks!

Trying to communicate (from Europe) with/to a unit located in china, the communication seems blocked/stopped. The edge gateway is installed in a linux environment and was possible to link to my Automation server account using the "Automation service tool". However it seems the unit cannot communicate with the Automation server (a Network scan will give the message "Gateway not connected"). (I have tested the eq. setup with units locally which works.) Anyone having experience situation similar to this and if its possible to make this work? Will a VPN be needed possibly? Other tips?

To search for an exact phrase, put it in quotes. Example: "getting started docs"
To exclude a word or phrase, put a dash in front of it. Example: docs -help
To search on specific fields, use these field names instead of a general text search. You can group with AND or OR.
